The adsorption behavior ofp-aminobenzoic acid and o-aminobenzoic acid onto the different polymeric adsorbents was systematically investigated as a function of the solution concentration and temperature. Experimental results indicated that the equilibrium adsorption data of the four polymeric adsorbents fitted well in the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption capacity of multi-functional polymeric adsorbent NJ-99 was the highest, which might be attributed to the strong hydrogen-bonding interaction between the amino groups on the resin and the carboxyl group of aminobenzoic acid. The adsorption capacity of o-aminobenzoic acid onto any adsorbent was higher than p-aminobenzoic acid. Thermodynamic studies suggested the exothermic, spontaneous physical adsorption process. Adsorption kinetics results showed that the adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics model and the intraparticle mass transfer process was the rate-controlling step.

Let B^H,K ：（B^H,K（t）, t ∈R＋^N} be an （N,d）-bifractional Brownian sheet with Hurst indices H = （H1,..., HN） ∈ （0, 1）^N and K = （K1,..., KN）∈ （0, 1]^N. The characteristics of the polar functions for B^H,K are investigated. The relationship between the class of continuous functions satisfying the Lipschitz condition and the class of polar-functions of B^H,K is presented. The Hausdorff dimension of the fixed points and an inequality concerning the Kolmogorov＇s entropy index for B^H,K are obtained. A question proposed by LeGall about the existence of no-polar, continuous functions statisfying the Holder condition is also solved.

A pot experiment was performed to determine the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizM fungi （AMF） communities on soil properties and the growth of cucumber seedlings in a degraded soil that had been used for continuous cucumber monoculture in a greenhouse for 15 years. In the experiment, AMF communities （created by combining various AMF species that were found to be dominant in natural farm soil） were inoculated into the degraded soil, and then the soil was planted with cucumber. Inoculation with AMF communities did not affect soil pH but increased soil aggregate stability and decreased the concentrations of salt ions and electrical conductivity （EC） in the soil. Inoculation with AMF communities increased the numbers of culturable bacteria and actinomycetes but reduced the number of fungi. AMF communities increased plant growth, soluble sugar content, chlorophyll content, and root activity compared to non-mycorrhizal or a single AMF species treatments. Improvements of soil quality and plant growth were greatest with the following two communities： Glomus etunicatum ＋ G. mosseae ＋ Gigaspora margarita ＋ Acaulospora lacunosa and G. aggregatum ＋ G. etunicatum ＋ G. mosseae ＋ G. versiforme ＋ G. margarita ＋ A. lacunosa. The results suggested that certain AMF communities could substantially improve the quality of degraded soil.

Forestry has played an important role in hazard mitigation associated with debris *** forest mitigation measures refer to the experience of soil and water conservation,which disregard the destructive effect of debris flows,causing potentially serious *** of the effect of a forest on reducing debris-flow velocity and even stopping debris flows requires distinguishing between when the debris flow will destroy the forest and when the trees will withstand the debris-flow impact *** this paper,we summarized two impact failure models of a single tree: stem breakage and *** influences of different tree sizes characteristics(stem base diameter,tree weight,and root failure radius) and debris-flow characteristics(density,velocity,flow depth,and boulder diameter) on tree failure were *** observations obtained from the model adopted in this study show that trees are more prone to stem breakage than *** an increase in tree size,the ability to resist stem breakage and overturning ***-flow density influences the critical failure conditions of trees substantially less than the debrisflow velocity,depth,and boulder *** application conditions of forests in debris-flow hazard mitigation were proposed based on the analysis of the model *** proposed models were applied in the Xiajijiehaizi Gully as a case study,and the results explain the destruction of trees in the forest dispersing *** work provides references for implementing forest measures for debris-flow hazard mitigation.

Damage to Hippocampus of Rats after Being Exposed to Infrasound

Objective The objective was to observe damage of hippocampus in rats after exposure to infrasound, and to assess HSP70 expression in hippocampus. Methods SD rats in the experimental group were exposed to 140 d B（8 Hz） infrasound for 2 h per day for 3 days. The morphology of the hippocampus was examined by transmission electronic microscopic（TEM）. Cell apoptosis was observed by TUNEL staining at 0 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 2 w after exposure. HSP70 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry（IHC） and Western blotting（WB）. Results TEM showed that hippocampus was significantly damaged by exposure, and exhibited recovery 1 week after exposure. The TUNEL data showed that neuronal apoptosis after exposure was significantly higher than in the control rats at 24 h and 48 h, and the apoptotic cells decreased one week after exposure. IHC and WB showed HSP70 expression was significantly higher in the exposed rats, peaked at 24 h. Conclusion Exposure to 140 d B（8 Hz） infrasound for 2 h per day for 3 days appeared to induce damage to the hippocampus of rats, based on changes in ultrastructure and increased cell apoptosis. However, recovery from the damage occurred overtime. HSP70 expression also increased after the exposure and decreased by 48 h.

AIM： To investigate the effects of Tat-NEMO-binding domain （NBD） peptide on taurocholate-induced pancreatitis and lipopolysaccharide （LPS）-stimulated AR42J acinus ceils inflammatory response in rats. METHODS： Sodium taurocholate （5%） was used to induce the pancreatitis model. Forty-eight rats from the taurocholate group received an intravenous bolus of 13 mg/kg Tat-NBD （wild-type, WT） peptide, Tat- NBD （mutant-type, MT） peptide, NBD peptide or Tat peptide. The pancreatic histopathology was analyzed by hematoxylin staining. LPS was added to the culture medium to stimulate the AR42J cells. For pretreatment, cells were incubated with different peptides for 2 h before LPS stimulation. Expression of IL-1β and TNF-α mRNA was analyzed using a semi-quantitative reverse-transcript polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR） method. IL-1β and TNF-α protein in culture medium were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. NF-KB DNA-binding in pancreas was examined by electrophoretic mobility shift assays. P65 expression of AR42J was determined by Strept Actividin-Biotin Complex （SABC） method. RESULTS： Pretreatment with Tat-NBD （WT） peptide at a concentration of 13 mg/kg body wt showed beneficial effect in pancreaitis model. LPS （10 mg/L） resulted in an increase of IL-1β mRNA, IL-1β protein, TNF-α mRNA and TNF-α protein, whereas significantly inhibitory effects were observed when cells were incubated with Tat-NBD （WT）. Consisting with p65 expression decrease analyzed by SABC method, NF-KB DNA-binding activity significantly decreased in Tat-NBD （WT） pretreatment group, especially at the largest dose. No significant changes were found in the control peptide group. CONCLUSION： Our result supports that active NF-KB participates in the pathogenesis of STC-induced acute pancreatitis in rats. Tat-NBD （WT） peptide has anti- inflammatory effects in this model and inhibits the inflammation of acinus simulated by LPS.

Stability and diffusion properties of self-interstitial atoms in tungsten:a first-principles investigation

Employing a first-principles method based on the density function theory, we systematically investigate the structures, stability and diffusion of self-interstitial atoms （SIAs） in tungsten （W）. The （111 〉 dumbbell is shown to be the most stable SIA defect configuration with the formation energy of -9.43 eV. The on-site rotation modes can be described by a quite soft floating mechanism and a down-hill ＂drift＂ diffusion process from （110） dumbbell to 〈111〉 dumbbell and from （001） dumbbell to 〈110〉 dumbbell, respectively. Among different SIA configurations jumping to near neighboring site, the 〈111 〉 dumbbell is more preferable to migrate directly to first-nearest-neighboring site with a much lower energy barrier of 0.004 eV. These resuits provide a useful reference for W as a candidate plasma facing material in fusion Tokamak.

Determining the venting time of a gas trunk pipeline segment provides an important basis for formulating an emergency plan in the advent of unexpected *** the natural gas venting process corresponds to the transient flow,it is necessary to establish a transient hydraulic-thermal simulation model in order to determine the venting *** this paper,based on two kinds of venting scenarios in which there is only one venting point in the venting system of a gas trunk pipeline segment—namely,where the venting point is either at one of the two ends or at the junction of two gas trunk pipeline segments—transient hydraulic-thermal simulation models are *** models consist of gas flow governing equations,the gas state equation,gas physical property equations,initial conditions,and appropriate boundary *** implicit central difference method is used to discretize the gas flow partial differential equations,and the trust-region-dogleg algorithm is used to solve the equations corresponding to each time step,in order to dynamically simulate the whole venting *** judgment condition for the end of the venting process is that the average pressure of gas trunk pipeline segment is less than 0.11 MPa(actual pressure).Comparing the simulation results of the proposed model with those of the OLGA software and real operational data,we find that the venting time error is less than 10%.On this basis,a venting valve opening control principle is proposed,which prevents the venting noise from exceeded the specified noise value(85 d B)in the venting design of domestic gas pipeline *** established calculation model for venting time(dynamic simulation model)for a gas trunk pipeline segment and the proposed opening control principle of venting valve provide reference for the optimal operation of gas pipeline venting systems.

Spinal cord injury necessitates effective rehabilitation strategies, with exercise therapies showing promise in promoting recovery. This study investigated the impact of rehabilitation exercise on functional recovery and morphological changes following thoracic contusive spinal cord injury. After a 7-day recovery period after spinal cord injury, mice were assigned to either a trained group(10 weeks of voluntary running wheel or forced treadmill exercise) or an untrained group. Bi-weekly assessments revealed that the exercise-trained group, particularly the voluntary wheel exercise subgroup, displayed significantly improved locomotor recovery, more plasticity of dopaminergic and serotonin modulation compared with the untrained group. Additionally, exercise interventions led to gait pattern restoration and enhanced transcranial magnetic motor-evoked potentials. Despite consistent injury areas across groups, exercise training promoted terminal innervation of descending axons. In summary, voluntary wheel exercise shows promise for enhancing outcomes after thoracic contusive spinal cord injury, emphasizing the role of exercise modality in promoting recovery and morphological changes in spinal cord injuries. Our findings will influence future strategies for rehabilitation exercises, restoring functional movement after spinal cord injury.

BACKGROUND Intestinal intussusception caused by intestinal duplication and ectopic pancreas is extremely rare in the clinic and has not been reported *** SUMMARY A 29-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for chronic abdominal pain and *** preoperative diagnosis was intestinal obstruction and ***,laparotomy,partial small intestinal resection and extraintestinal decompression were *** pathology confirmed intestinal duplication and ectopic *** surgery,the patient recovered well with no *** recurrence was observed after more than 5 mo of *** We report a new case of a young male with intussusception caused by intestinal duplication and ectopic *** is the main treatment for these *** study aimed to raise awareness and provide information to improve the clinical management of this rare yet serious condition.
