Association between Occupational Change Trajectories and Mental Health: Results from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging

Objectives:This study was to longitudinally investigate the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health in the Korean population aged 45 years and older from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLo-SA).Methods:After excluding missing values,the data of 6,224 participants from thefirst to eighth waves of the KLo-SA were analyzed using t-test,Analysis of variance(ANOVA),Group-based Trajectory Model(GBTM)from 1–5th KLoSA and Time-Lagged Generalized estimating equation(GEE)model from 5–8th KLoSA to analyze the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health in the Korean population aged 45 years and ***:An analysis of the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health demonstrated that,among all age group,the“sustained in unemployment”group had a worse MMSE and CESD score compared to“sustained WC”*** the under-54 age group,those aged≥55 years demonstrated reductions in the MMSE and CESD scores in the sustained unemployment and the changed working condition from Standard BC to Unemployment groups,whereas those who underwent a change from the Standard WC to unemployment group only demonstrated a reduction in MMSE ***:There was a close relationship between occupational change trajectories and mental ***,this study can serve as the foundation for policies and institutional measures to manage the deteriorate mental health in the late middle-aged and older population.

This study explains the role of economic uncertainty as a bridge between business cycles and investors’herding *** with a conventional stochastic differential equation representing the evolution of stock returns,we provide a simple theoretical model and empirically demonstrate ***,the growth rate of gross domestic product and the power law exponent are used as proxies for business cycles and herding behavior,*** find stronger herding behavior during recessions than during *** attribute this to economic uncertainty,which leads to strong behavioral bias in the stock *** findings are consistent with the predictions of the quantum model.

Exercise intervention under hypoxic condition as a new therapeutic paradigm for type 2 diabetes mellitus:A narrative review

This review aims to summarize the health benefits of exposure to hypoxic conditions during exercise in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2 DM).Exposure to hypoxic conditions during exercise training positively changes the physiological response in healthy *** to hypoxic conditions during exercise could markedly increase skeletal muscle glucose uptake compared to that in normoxic ***,post-exercise insulin sensitivity of T2 DM patients increases more when exercising under hypoxic than under normoxic *** exercise under short-term hypoxic conditions can improve blood glucose control at lower workloads than in normoxic ***,exercise training under short-term hypoxic conditions can maximize weight loss in overweight and obese *** studies on healthy subjects have reported that regular exercise under hypoxic conditions had a more positive effect on vascular health than exercising under normoxic ***,currently,evidence indicating that exposure to hypoxic conditions could positively affect T2 DM patients in the long-term is ***,further evaluations of the beneficial effects of exercise under hypoxic conditions on the human body,considering different cycle lengths,duration of exposures,sessions per day,and the number of days,are *** this review,we conclude that there is evidence that exercise under hypoxic conditions can yield health benefits,which is potentially valuable in terms of clinical care as a new intervention for T2 DM patients.

Effect of hexagonal-BN on phase transformation of additive-free Si_3N_4 /SiC nanocomposites prepared from amorphous precursor

Si3N4/SiC nanocomposites are well known and attractive for advanced ceramic applications due to excellent mechanlcal and thermal properties, which make them suitable for use in turbine engines, heat exchangers, and other sophisticated applications. However, without the presence of additives, the fabrication of Si3N4/SiC composites is difficult. The additives form a liquid phase during sintering and facilitate the densification of the composite. However, the additives present a drawback at high temperatures since they decrease the mechanical properties of the composites. Recently, Si3N4/SiC composites were fabricated via the polymer precursor route without any additives, using electric field assisted sintering （EFAS）. In this study, fully densified Si3N4/SiC nanocomposites incorporating hexagonal-BN were successfully fabricated by hot pressing without any additives at 1700 ℃ for 2 h under vacuum at a pressure of 50 MPa （via the amorphous precursor route）. Moreover, the incorporation of additives and h-BN is found to decrease the content of SiC. The phase transformation, densification, microstructure, and mechanical properties were discussed and presented.

Enhancing BiVO_(4)photoanode performance by insertion of an epitaxial BiFeO_(3)ferroelectric layer

BiVO_(4)(BVO)is a promising material as the photoanode for use in photoelectrochemical ***,the high charge recombination and slow charge transfer of the BVO have been obstacles to achieving satisfactory photoelectrochemical *** address this,various modifications have been attempted,including the use of ferroelectric *** materials can form a permanent polarization within the layer,enhancing the separation and transport of photo-excited electron-hole *** this study,we propose a novel approach by depositing an epitaxial BiFeO_(3)(BFO)thin film underneath the BVO thin film(BVO/BFO)to harness the ferroelectric property of *** self-polarization of the inserted BFO thin film simultaneously functions as a buffer layer to enhance charge transport and a hole-blocking layer to reduce charge *** a result,the BVO/BFO photoanodes showed more than 3.5 times higher photocurrent density(0.65 mA cm^(-2))at 1.23 V_(RHE)under the illumination compared to the bare BVO photoanodes(0.18 m A cm^(-2)),which is consistent with the increase of the applied bias photon-to-current conversion efficiencies(ABPE)and the result of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)*** results can be attributed to the self-polarization exhibited by the inserted BFO thin film,which promoted the charge separation and transfer efficiency of the BVO photoanodes.

Oxygen vacancy engineering for tuning the catalytic activity of LaCoO_(3) perovskite

Herein, we attempted to engineer oxygen vacancies on the surface of LaCoO_(3) perovskite through simple post-treatments(acid or reductive thermal treatments). Acid treatment induces oxygen vacancies through the selective etching of the La cations, whereas thermal treatment in a reducing atmosphere generates oxygen vacancies by directly removing lattice oxygen. The characterization results confirm that the number of surface oxygen vacancies, which are crucial in various catalytic oxidation reactions,considerably increases in the LaCoO_(3) catalysts treated with acid or reducing gas. Acid treatment enriches the oxygen vacancies while maintaining the structure of the LaCoO_(3) catalysts, which can not be achieved through reductive thermal treatment. Therefore, the acid treatment is considered a promising technique for oxygen vacancy engineering of perovskite catalysts for tuning their catalytic activities. Furthermore,the catalytic activities of the posttreated LaCoO_(3) catalysts for CO oxidation were evaluated and are noted to be considerably better than those of the pristine LaCoO_(3) catalyst due to their abundant oxygen vacancies. Consequently, we conclude that the oxygen vacancies of perovskite catalysts can be effectively engineered via two simple methods and play a significant role in CO oxidation.
