Clinical evaluation of serum concentrationsof intercellular adhesion molecule-1 in patients with colorectal cancer

AIM： To investigate the correlation between the serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 （sICAM-1） and the clinicopathologic features and to evaluate the possible prognostic significance of sICAM-1 concentration in colorectal ***： A total of 56 patients （mean age 57.3 years） having transitional cell carcinoma of the colorectal and 25 control patients （mean age 42.6 years） were enrolled in the study. The serum samples of the patients were obtained on the day before surgery. Sera were obtained by centrifugation, and stored at -80℃ until assay. Serum concentrations of ICAM-1 were measured with enzymelinked immunoassay. Differences between the two groups were analyzed by Student＇s ***： No significant increase of serum slCAM-1 could be demonstrated in the Dukes A1 patients （352.63±61.82μg/L） compared to the control group （345.72±49.81 μg/L,/〉〉0.05）, Dukes A1 patients （352.63±61.82 μg/L）compared to Dukes A2,3 patients （491.17±86.36μg/L,P〈0.05）. Furthermore, the patients with Dukes B had significantly higher serum concentrations of sICAM-1 than those of the control group （496.82±93.04μg/L vs 345.72±49.81μg/L, P〈0.01）. Compared with Dukes A2,3,B colorectal cancer patients, patients with more advanced clinical stage （Dukes C and D） had higher levels of sICAM-1 （743.68±113.74 μg/L vs491.17±86.36μg/L and 496.82±93.04 μg/L, P〈0.001）. The difference was statistically significant in sICAM-1 levels between patients with positive lymph node status and those without lymph node involvement （756.25±125.57μg/L vs 445.62±69.18 μg/L, P〈0.001）.Patients with poorly differentiated colorectal cancer had a higher level of slCAIVl-1 than those with differentiated and highly differentiated cancer （736.49±121.97μg/L vs410.23±67.47 μg/L, P〈0.001）.CONCLUSION： In this study, serum ICAM-1 levels were found to be related to tumor presence, clinical stages,and grade. Maize(Zea mays)cultivation is strongly affected by both abiotic and biotic stress,leading to reduced growth and *** has recently become clear that regulators of plant stress responses,including the phytohormones abscisic acid(ABA),ethylene(ET),and jasmonic acid(JA),together with reactive oxygen species(ROS),shape plant growth and *** their well established functions in stress responses,these molecules play crucial roles in balancing growth and defense,which must be finely tuned to achieve high yields in crops while maintaining some level of *** this review,we provide an in-depth analysis of recent research on the developmental functions of stress regulators,focusing specifically on *** unraveling the contributions of these regulators to maize development,we present new avenues for enhancing maize cultivation and growth while highlighting the potential risks associated with manipulating stress regulators to enhance grain yields in the face of environmental challenges.

Optimizing urban block morphologies for net-zero energy cities:Exploring photovoltaic potential and urban design prototype

The morphology of urban areas plays a crucial role in determining solar potential,which directly affects photovoltaic capacity and the achievement of net-zero *** study focuses on the City of Melbourne to investigate the utilization of solar energy across different urban densities and proposes optimized *** analysis encompasses blocks with diverse population densities,examining medium and high-density *** utilizing a multi-objective genetic optimization approach,the urban morphology of these blocks is *** findings indicate that low-density blocks exhibit photovoltaic potential ranging from 1 to 6.6 times their total energy *** and high-density blocks achieve photovoltaic potential levels approximately equivalent to 40%-85%of their overall energy ***,significant variations in photovoltaic potential are observed among different urban forms within medium and high-density ***“elevated corners with central valley”prototype is proposed as an effective approach,enhancing the overall photovoltaic potential by approximately 14%.This study introduces novel analytical concepts,shedding light on the intricate relationship between urban morphologies and photovoltaic potential.

Analytical model for the sealant performance of tunnel gasketed joints based on multi-scale contact and percolation theories

The localised leakage in shield tunnels that mainly occurs at segment joints may induce other defects,which threatens operational *** obtain a universal solution for the sealant performance of gasketed joints,we proposed a novel analytical model based on the multiscale contact and percolation theories,in which the obtained percolation pressure and interfacial separation can be utilized to derive the critical water leakage pressure and leakage *** evolutionary process of leakage was divided into three stages(i.e.,the percolation,leakage and breakdown),which explicitly reveal the progressive hydraulic deterioration of gasketed *** gaskets still own partial waterproof capacity until the end of the leakage stage due to the remaining contact pressure at surface *** proposed model was first verified by several sets of experimental data,based on which the determination of three key model parameters(i.e.,self-sealing slope,sealing coefficient,and expel pressure)were discussed in *** parametric study indicates that the waterproof capacity is significantly affected by the joint opening,offset,and the surface roughness of the *** variation in waterproof capacity with joint opening is mainly due to the nonlinearity of the gasket’s modulus and self-sealing *** increase in joint offset can result in a lower waterproof capacity as well as a larger leakage ***’s surface roughness affects the percolation pressure and interfacial separation,which contributes to the long-term sealant performance.

Algebraic Study of the Vibrational Levels and Potential Energy Surface of the Excited Electronic State （C^1A＇） for S2O

The vibrational levels and potential energy surface of a stable structure for S2O in the excited electronic states C^1A＇ were carried out with algebraic method. The vibrational spectra were obtained （with total quantum number v=20） by fitting 30 spectra data. The fitted rms（root mean square） error based on the Hamiltonian witb 9 parameters was 2.40 cm^-1. The dissociation energy and force constant were also determined by the analytical potential energy surface. The method is proved to be effective by comparing these results with the experimental data.

Investigation on the influence of vortex generator on particle resuspension

The vortex generator(VG)and its well-known effect in flow optimization are widely studied and employed across different engineering ***,while the same working principles of VG may be well suited for the applications on surface-cleaning technologies,such promising potential is hardly,if any,explored in the published ***,in the present study,the influence on flow-induced particle resuspension brought by a rectangular vG in a channel flow is investigated with the help of highfidelity computational fluid dynamics *** increases of particle removal forces and resuspension rates are discovered in long,strip-like regions with reduced boundary-layer thickness resulted from the vG-induced vortices,and the enhancement effect is especially significant for configurations with the VG installed at a greater angle of *** is also shown that while the resuspension enhancements on the lower and the upper surfaces of the channel exhibit distinct statistical characteristics,having a VG in the channel improves the overall particle-removing capability of the channel flow by introducing higher surface-averaged removal forces and particle resuspension *** but not least,the increase of resuspension rate is especially significant for the smaller,micron-scale particles which are otherwise hardly disturbed by a VG-less channel flow,and such resuspension-enhancement effectgenerally subsides with increasing particle size.

Seasonal response of nitrogen exchange fluxes to crab disturbance at sediment-water interface in coastal tidal wetlands

Coastal wetlands are hotspots for nitrogen(N)cycling,and crab burrowing is known to transform N in intertidal marsh ***,the underlying mechanisms remain *** study conducted field experiments and used indoor control test devices to investigate the seasonal response of nitrogen to crab disturbance at the sediment-water interface in coastal tidal flat *** results showed that crab disturbance exhibited significant seasonality with large seasonal differences in cave density and *** to crab disturbance,nitrogen fuxes at the sediment-water interface were much greater in the box with crabs than in the box without *** summer,NH-N showed a positive flux from the sediment to the overlying water,but NO2-N and NOg-N showed positive fluxes from the sediment to the overlying water only in early *** winter,NH-N showed a positive flux from the sediment to the overlying water,but NO-N and NO,-N both exhibited positive and negative *** results indicated that the presence of crab burrows can cause the aerobic layer to move downward by approximately 8-15 cm in summer and directly promote nitrification at the sediment surface.

The separator plays an important part in battery safety and *** separators are widely used in commercial Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),owing to their excellent properties,but they suffer from serious thermal shrinkage and poor electrolyte ***,a multilayer separator(ASPESA)is developed by coating two thin layers of low-density polyethylene(LDPE)and Al_(2)O_(3)on both sides of a polyethylene membrane using a facile and environmentally friendly casting *** ASPESA separator demonstrates a shutdown function at 120℃and shows enhanced thermal stability under 185℃,with a small thermal shrinkage of 1%.Meanwhile,the LDPE and Al_(2)O_(3)layers can improve the electrolyte wettability and electrolyte uptake(407.23%).The multilayer ASPESA separator delivers an excellent cycle performance in LiFePO_(4)||Li cells with a discharge capacity of 144.5 mAh g^(-1)after 900 cycles,with a high-capacity retention of 98.9%(compared to the 5th cycle).Therefore,the multilayer ASPESA separator has great utilization potential as a high-safety separator in LIBs.

The rapid development of the Internet has accelerated the spread of rumors,posing challenges to social cohesion and *** address this,a multi-channel rumor propagation model incorporating individual game behavior and time delay is *** depicts individuals strategically choosing propagation channels in the rumor spread process,capturing real-world intricacies more ***,the model allowing spreaders to choose between text and video information base *** adoption hinges on benefits versus costs,with payoffs dictating strategy and the propagation process determining an individual's *** theoretical analysis of the model,the propagation threshold and equilibrium points are *** the stability of the model is further demonstrated based on Routh-Hurwitz judgment and Descartes'Rule of *** simulations are conducted to verify the correctness of the theoretical results and the sensitivity of the model to key *** outcomes reveal that increasing the propagation cost of spreaders can significantly curb the spread of *** contrast to the classical ISR model,rumors spread faster and more widely in the improved multi-channel rumor propagation model in this paper,which is a feature more aligned with real-world ***,the validity and predictive ability of the model are verified by using real rumor propagation data sets,indicating that the improved multi-channel rumor propagation model has good practical application and predictive value.
