Boosting singlet oxygen generation for salinity wastewater treatment through co-activation of oxygen and peroxymonosulfate in photoelectrochemical process

High concentrations of inorganic ions in saline wastewater pose adverse effects on hydroxyl radical (HO' )dominated technologies. Here, we report a unique strategy for boosting singlet oxygen (1 O2 ) generation via coactivation of oxygen and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by regulating the electron transfer regime in the photoelectrochemical process. The Fe-N bridge in atomic Fe-modified graphitic carbon nitride (denoted SA-FeCN) favors the construction of electron-defective Fe and electron-rich N vacancies (Nvs) to accelerate directional electron transfer. The produced intermediate (HSO4-O center dot center dot center dot Fe- Nvs center dot center dot center dot O-O) as a chemical channel accelerates the directional electron transfer from PMS to further reduce O2 to form activated products (SO5'-, O2'-), thereby transforming O2 into 1 O2 . An optimized 1 O2 generation rate of 39.4 mu mol L-1s- 1 is obtained, which is 15.7-945.0 times higher than that in traditional advanced oxidation processes. Fast kinetics are achieved for removing various phenolic pollutants in a nonradical oxidation pathway, which is less susceptible to the coexistence of natural organic matter and inorganic ions. The COD removal for coal wastewater and complex industrial wastewater in real scenarios is found to reach a value of 90%-96% in 3 h. This work provides a new direction for boosting the 1 O2 generation rate, especially for the selective degradation of target electron-rich contaminants in saline wastewater.

Earthquakes pose significant perils to the built environment in urban *** avert the calamitous aftermath of earthquakes,it is imperative to construct seismic resilient *** to the intricacy of the concept of urban seismic resilience(USR),its assessment is a large-scale system engineering *** assessment of USR should be based on the notion of urban seismic capacity(USC)assessment,which includes casualties,economic loss,and recovery time as *** loss is also included in the assessment of USR in addition to these *** assessment indicator system comprising five dimensions(building and lifeline infrastructure,environment,society,economy,and institution)and 20 indicators has been devised to quantify *** analytical hierarchy process(AHP)is utilized to compute the weights of the criteria,dimensions,and indicators in the urban seismic resilience assessment(USRA)indicator *** the necessary data for a city are obtainable,the seismic resilience of that city can be assessed using this *** illustrate the proposed methodology,a moderate-sized city in China was selected as a case *** assessment results indicate a high level of USR,suggesting that the city possesses strong capabilities to withstand and recover from potential future earthquakes.

Relative humidity-dependent evolution of molecular composition ofα-pinene secondary organic aerosol upon heterogeneous oxidation by hydroxyl radicals

Heterogeneous oxidation by gas-phase oxidants is an important chemical transformation pathway of secondary organic aerosol(SOA)and plays an important role in controlling the abundance,properties,as well as climate and health impacts of ***,our knowledge on this heterogeneous chemistry remains *** this study,the heterogeneous oxidation ofα-pinene ozonolysis SOA by hydroxyl(OH)radicals was investigated under both low and high relative humidity(RH)conditions,with an emphasis on the evolution of molecular composition of SOA and its RH *** is found that the heterogeneous oxidation of SOA at an OH exposure level equivalent to 12 hr of atmospheric aging leads to particle mass loss of 60%at 25%RH and 95%at 90%*** heterogeneous oxidation strongly changes the molecular composition of *** dimer-to-monomer signal ratios increase dramatically with rising OH exposure,in particular under high RH conditions,suggesting that aerosol water stimulates the reaction of monomers with OH radicals more than that of *** addition,the typical SOA tracer compounds such as pinic acid,pinonic acid,hydroxy pinonic acid and dimer esters(e.g.,C17H26O8 and C19H28O7)have lifetimes of several hours against heterogeneous OH oxidation under typical atmospheric conditions,which highlights the need for the consideration of their heterogeneous loss in the estimation of monoterpene SOA concentrations using tracer-based *** study sheds lights on the heterogeneous oxidation chemistry ofmonoterpene SOA andwould help to understand their evolution and impacts in the atmosphere.

Lithium-sulfur （Li-S） battery,as a promising next-generation high-energy-density battery,suffers from lithium polysulfides（LPSs） shuttle and Li dendrites *** crystalline framework-based membranes as separator can effectively absorb and restrain LPSs but without precise structural design principal exploration and mechanism ***,bio-inspired 1D oriented lithium-ion transport channels with molecular negatively charged PO3（-1） have been developed in hybrid tetrazole frameworks for promoting the transmission of Li+*** theoretical calculations and in situ spectroscopy demonstrated the higher binding energy and inhibited diffusion of LPSs in *** assembled PP@PO3Janus separator in Li-S coin cell delivered a high initial capacity of 1410.9 mAh g-1at 0.1 C and a low attenuation rate of 0.038%per cycle over 500 cycles at 5 ***,the high capacities of 862,542 and 409 mAh g-1based on high-sulfur-loading cathodes of 2.6,3.8 and 5.0 mg cm-2at0.5 C were achieved,***,the punch battery of PO3@PP separator with S-cathode of 1.2 mg cm-2has been developed for demonstrating its potentials commercial application,which displays impressive capacity of 873.4 mAh g-1with the retention of～78.9%over 50 cycles.

Optimization of transverse unidirectional scattering by morphology modification of irregular V-shaped silicon nanoantennas

A scheme based on irregular V-shaped silicon nanoantennas is proposed to optimize transverse unidirectional scattering under plane wave irradiation. Traditional methods of designing regular shapes offer fewer parameters and higher search efficiency. However, due to the limitations of regular shapes, it is challenging to meet high-precision design requirements. Irregular shape design allows for a broader range of adjustments, but the complexity of shape parameters leads to lower search efficiency and a higher likelihood of converging to local optima.

Tensor Decomposition-assisted Multiview Subgroup Analysis

To learn the subgroup structure generated by multidimensional interaction, we propose a novel multiview subgroup integration technique based on tensor decomposition. Compared to the traditional subgroup analysis that can only handle single-view heterogeneity, our proposed method achieves a greater level of homogeneity within the subgroups, leading to enhanced interpretability and predictive power. For computational readiness of the proposed method, we build an algorithm that incorporates pairwise shrinkage-encouraging penalties and ADMM techniques. Theoretically, we establish the asymptotic consistency and normality of the proposed estimators. Extensive simulation studies and real data analysis demonstrate that our proposal outperforms other methods in terms of prediction accuracy and grouping consistency. In addition, the analysis based on the proposed method indicates that intergenerational care significantly increases the risk of chronic diseases associated with diet and fatigue in all provinces while only reducing the risk of emotion-related chronic diseases in the eastern coastal and central regions of China.

From Static and Dynamic Perspectives:A Survey on Historical Data Benchmarks of Control Performance Monitoring

In recent decades, control performance monitoring(CPM) has experienced remarkable progress in research and industrial applications. While CPM research has been investigated using various benchmarks, the historical data benchmark(HIS) has garnered the most attention due to its practicality and effectiveness. However, existing CPM reviews usually focus on the theoretical benchmark, and there is a lack of an in-depth review that thoroughly explores HIS-based methods. In this article, a comprehensive overview of HIS-based CPM is provided. First, we provide a novel static-dynamic perspective on data-level manifestations of control performance underlying typical controller capacities including regulation and servo: static and dynamic properties. The static property portrays time-independent variability in system output, and the dynamic property describes temporal behavior driven by closed-loop feedback. Accordingly,existing HIS-based CPM approaches and their intrinsic motivations are classified and analyzed from these two ***, two mainstream solutions for CPM methods are summarized, including static analysis and dynamic analysis,which match data-driven techniques with actual controlling behavior. Furthermore, this paper also points out various opportunities and challenges faced in CPM for modern industry and provides promising directions in the context of artificial intelligence for inspiring future research.

A fast amplitude preserving three-parameter 3D parabolic Radon transform and its application on multiple attenuation

Seismic wavefields propagate through three-dimensional(3D) space, and their precise characterization is crucial for understanding subsurface structures. Traditional 2D algorithms, due to their limitations, are insufficient to fully represent three-dimensional wavefields. The classic 3D Radon transform algorithm assumes that the wavefield's propagation characteristics are consistent in all directions, which often does not hold true in complex underground media. To address this issue, we present an improved 3D threeparameter Radon algorithm that considers the wavefield variation with azimuth and provides a more accurate wavefield description. However, introducing new parameters to describe the azimuthal variation also poses computational challenges. The new Radon transform operator involves five variables and cannot be simply decomposed into small matrices for efficient computation; instead, it requires large matrix multiplication and inversion operations, significantly increasing the computational load. To overcome this challenge, we have integrated the curvature and frequency parameters, simplifying all frequency operators to the same, thereby significantly improving computation efficiency. Furthermore,existing transform algorithms neglect the lateral variation of seismic amplitudes, leading to discrepancies between the estimated multiples and those in the data. To enhance the amplitude preservation of the algorithm, we employ orthogonal polynomial fitting to capture the amplitude spatial variation in 3D seismic data. Combining these improvements, we propose a fast, amplitude-preserving, 3D threeparameter Radon transform algorithm. This algorithm not only enhances computational efficiency while maintaining the original wavefield characteristics, but also improves the representation of seismic data by increasing amplitude fidelity.
