Catharanthus roseus L. （Madagascar periwinkle） biosynthesizes a diverse array of secondary metabolites including anticancer dimeric alkaloids （vinblastine and vincristine） and antihypertensive alkaloids （ajmalicine and serpentine）. The multi-step terpenoid indole alkaloids （TIAs） biosynthetic pathway in C. roseus is complex and is under strict molecular regulation. Many enzymes and genes involved in the TIAs biosynthesis have been studied in recent decades. Moreover, some regulatory proteins were found recently to control the production of TIAs in C. roseus. Based on mastering the rough scheme of the pathway and cloning the related genes, metabolic engineering of TIAs biosynthesis has been studied in C. roseus aiming at increasing the desired secondary metabolites in the past few years. The present article summarizes recent advances in isolation and characterization of TIAs biosynthesis genes and transcriptional regulators involved in the second metabolic control in C. roseus. Metabolic engineering applications in TIAs pathway via overexpression of these genes and regulators in C. roseus are also discussed.

A rapid and sensitive method to identify and analyze mixed pesticides of tricyclazole,paraquat and flusilazole by surface-enhanced Raman scattering has been *** samples can be detected by SERS in low concentrations of 0.01 mg/L, 0.1 mg/L and 2.85 mg/L for individual tricyclazole,paraquat and flusilazole *** mixing the three pesticides in the low concentrations,their characteristic peaks can still be identified from the SERS spectrum of the mixture.

Self-powered sensors are highly sought for wireless sensing applications in space exploration,industries,and environmental monitoring,***,most current self-powered sensor technologies are based on the multiple energy conversion routine:energy collection,rectification,energy storage,and power management before it can be used for sensor systems,leading to exceptionally low energy utilization efficiency and very short periods of wireless sensing operation with majority of information ***,we propose a triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)based fully self-powered instantaneous and real-time wireless sensor system which does not contain electronic devices and microchips,but the passive components *** innovative cylindrical capacitive-type liquid level sensor is also proposed and is then integrated into the wireless sensor system for monitoring liquid levels or identifying substance of the *** sensor system can convert pulsed voltage output of the TENG into sinusoidal signal with a resonant frequency containing the sensing information and is transmitted to the receiver in distance in *** maximum transmission distance of the sensor system could reach 1.5 m for a 10 cm diameter magnetic-core coil *** wireless sensor system exhibited excellent stability and excellent linearity with a sensitivity of 4.63 kHz/cm,and demonstrated its great application potential for the self-powered liquid level monitoring.

Modulation of Beta Oscillations for Implicit Motor Timing in Primate Sensorimotor Cortex during Movement Preparation

Motor timing is an important part of sensorimotor control. Previous studies have shown that beta oscillations embody the process of temporal perception in explicit timing tasks. In contrast, studies focusing on beta oscillations in implicit timing tasks are lacking. In this study, we set up an implicit motor timing task and found a modulation pattern of beta oscillations with temporal perception during movement preparation. We trained two macaques in a repetitive visually-guided reach-to-grasp task with different holding intervals. Spikes and local field potentials were recorded from microelectrode arrays in the primary motor cortex, primary somatosensory cortex, and posterior parietal cortex. We analyzed the association between beta oscillations and temporal interval in fixedduration experiments(500 ms as the Short Group and1500 ms as the Long Group) and random-duration experiments(500 ms to 1500 ms). The results showed that the peak beta frequencies in both experiments ranged from15 Hz to 25 Hz. The beta power was higher during the hold period than the movement(reach and grasp) ***, in the fixed-duration experiments, the mean poweras well as the maximum rate of change of beta power in the first 300 ms were higher in the Short Group than in the Long Group when aligned with the Center Hit event. In contrast, in the random-duration experiments, the corresponding values showed no statistical differences among groups. The peak latency of beta power was shorter in the Short Group than in the Long Group in the fixed-duration experiments, while no consistent modulation pattern was found in the random-duration experiments. These results indicate that beta oscillations can modulate with temporal interval in their power mode. The synchronization period of beta power could reflect the cognitive set maintaining working memory of the temporal structure and attention.

In harsh climates,highway icing poses a hazard to traffic safety and increases road maintenance *** is of great significance to predict when the highway icing may occur and take a preventive ***,there are few studies on highway icing time prediction due to the scarcity and complexity of *** this study,variables of icing temperature,friction,ice percentage,road surface temperature,water film height,saline concentration,and road condition were collected by road sensors distributed on a highway in China.A large-scale time series highway surface information dataset called HighwayIce is ***,a deep learning approach called IceAlarm,composed of long short-term memory neural network(LSTM),multilayer perceptron(MLP),and residual connection,has been developed to predict when the highway will *** LSTM is used to process dynamic variables,the MLP is used to process static variables,and the fully-connected layers with residual connections are used to make a deep *** experimental results show that the average mean absolute error before icing using the IceAlarm model is about 6min and outperforms all baseline *** HighwayIce dataset and IceAlarm model can help improve the prediction accuracy and efficiency of forecasting real-world road icing time,therefore reducing the impact of icy road conditions on traffic.

API(application programming interface)documentation is critical for developers to learn ***,it is unclear whether API documentation indeed improves the API learnability for *** this paper,we focus on two types of API documentation,i.e.,official API tutorials and API crowd ***,we analyze API coverage and check API consistencies in API documentation based on the API ***,we conduct a survey and extract several characteristics to analyze which API documentation can help developers learn *** findings show that:1)API crowd documentation can be regarded as a supplement to the official API tutorials to some extent;2)the concerns for frequently-used APIs between different types of API documentation show a huge mismatch,which may prevent developers from deeply understanding the usages of APIs through only one type of API documentation;3)official API tutorials can help developers seek API information on a long page and API crowd documentation could provide long codes for a particular programming *** findings may help developers select the suitable API documentation and find the useful information they need.

The effect of short-term exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)on the respiratory system among healthy residents is *** and Baoding are typical polluted cities in China,and there is little research on PAH exposure and its health effects at the individual *** healthy female office workers were recruited in urban Beijing and Baoding,China,in *** personal exposure to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))-bound PAHs and lung function were seasonally *** relationships between PAH exposure and lung function were determined by a generalized mixed linear *** were exposed to high levels of PAH,in which the benzo[a]pyrene(BaP)level(1.26 ng/m^(3))was over than Chinese national indoor standard(1 ng/m^(3)).All PAHs concentration was higher in winter than that in summer and *** benz[a]anthracene(BaA)and chrysene(Chr)exposure showed weak relations with decreased lung function,i.e.,a 0.58% and 0.73% decrease in peak expiratory flow at lag 2 day,respectively(p<0.05).PAHs may not be suitable exposure indicators for short-term change in lung *** findings highlight the importance of reducing PAH pollution for public respiratory health protection in heavy-polluted cities of *** pilot study also provides experience on personal PAH assessment such as estimation of the number of repeated measurements required,which is helpful to determine the relationship between PAH exposure and health effect.
