Lean production is a systemic approach to meeting customer expectations, whatever they value, by reducing *** fi rst glance, lean then could only contribute to sustainability, while sustainability is achieved only if the customervalues sustainability. The paper has two objectives. One is to examine whether sustainability is feasible using leanproduction with sustainability as an added value. The second objective is to examine how current lean constructiontools and methods impact the construction and operation of sustainable facilities. The authors also suggest how theselean construction tools and methods have evolved to contribute to green construction. For this study, the authorsinterviewed lean adopters and conducted literature surveys on lean principles and methods, and its impacts on theeconomic, social and environmental sustainability.

Three types of semi-cry stalline photovoltaic polymers were synthesized by incorporating a siloxane-terminated organic/inorganic hybrid side-chain and changing the number of fluorine substituents.A branch point away from a polymer main backbone in the siloxane-containing side-chains and the intra-and/or interchain noncovalent coulombic interactions enhance a chain planarity and facile interchain *** resulting polymers formed strongly agglomerated films with high roughness,suggesting strong intermolecular *** optical band gap of ca.1.7 eV was measured for all polymers with a pronounced shoulder peak due to tight π-π *** increasing the fluorine substituents,the frontier energy levels decreased and preferential face-on orientation was *** siloxane-terminated side-chains and fluorine substitution promoted the intermolecular packing,showing well resolved lamellar scatterings up to(300) for this series of polymers in the grazing incidence wide angle X-ray scattering *** PPsiDTBT,PPsiDTFBT and PPsiDT2 FBT devices showed a power conversion efficiency of 3.16%,4.40%and 5.65%,respectively,by blending with PC_(71)***-type bimolecular charge recombination was similar for three polymeric solar *** main loss in the photocurrent generation for PPsiDTBT:PC_(71)BM was interpreted to originate from the trap assisted charge recombination by measuring light-intensity dependent short-circuit current density(J_(SC)) and open-circuit voltage(V_(Oc)).Our results provide a new insight into the rational selection of solubilizing substituents for optimizing crystalline interchain packing with appropriate miscibility with PC71 BM for further optimizing polymer solar cells.

Organic electrolyte-gated transistors(OEGTs) have the benefits of low power consumption and large current ***,the electrical performance of n-type OEGTs lags far behind that of p-type *** this study,we design a series of polymers,P(NDITEG-T) and P(NDIMTEG-T),comprising a naphthalene diimide backbone for n-type charge transport and oligo(ethylene glycol)(OEG) side chains for high ionic conductivity and eco-friendly solution *** incorporation of the OEG chain facilitates the electrochemical doping of the semiconductor by ions to realize high-performance,n-type ***,in OEGTs,P(NDITEG-T) achieves a high electron mobility of 1.0 × 10^(-1) cm^(2) V^(-1) s^(-1),which represents the highest value reported for solution-processed,n-type *** is noted that the fabrication of the OEGTs is achieved by solution processing with eco-friendly ethanol/water mixtures in virtue of the hydrophilic OEG *** work demonstrates the molecular design of the P(NDITEG-T) polymer and its significant ability to produce aqueous-processable,high-performance,and n-type OEGTs.

AIM: To investigate the effects of Korea red ginseng (KRG) on the cerebral perfusion rate in the rats and the generation of superoxide anion in the endothelial cells. METHODS: The cerebral perfusion rate was measured using laser-doppler flowmetry before and after the administration of crude saponin (CS) and saponin-free fraction (SFF) of KRG in the anesthetized rats. The superoxide generation was measured by the method based on lucigenin-enhanced chemiluminescence in the cultured endothelial cells. RESULTS: The relative cerebral perfusion rate (rCBF) was significantly increased by the intraperitoneal injection of CS (100 mg/kg) in the rats, but SFF had no effect on the rCBF. Chronic treatment with CS for 7 d significantly inhibited the decrease of forebrain cerebral blood flow induced by clamping both carotid arteries in the rats. Furthermore, CS (0.1 g/L) significantly sup-pressed NADPH-induced superoxide generation in the human umbilical vein endothelial cells (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: The present study d

BACKGROUND The infusion of triolein emulsion(TE)induced increased vascular permeability and a negligible and temporary decrease in liver function without specific histopathological *** To assess changes in doxorubicin concentration according to the percentage of TE infused via a hepatic artery to study the vascular permeability in the rabbit *** Thirty-nine healthy rabbits were divided into five groups according to the concentration of emulsified triolein infused into the hepatic arteries:Group 0,saline infusion(control group,n=5);group 1,0.3%TE(n=13);group 2,0.6%TE(n=6);group 3,0.9%TE(n=8);and group 4,1.5%TE(n=6).Doxorubicin(2.4 mg/kg)was infused immediately after TE injection via the hepatic *** 2 h,the livers were harvested,and doxorubicin concentrations were calculated *** doxorubicin concentrations were compared between TE groups and the control group,and the optimal concentrations within the TE groups were *** analysis was performed using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test.P0.05).CONCLUSION TE infusion into the hepatic arteries significantly increased the doxorubicin concentration approximately twofold but was not different between the TE *** findings suggest that TE infusion might be a useful adjuvant treatment of liver cancers.

Cricket(Gryllus bimaculatus)gel was fractionated and mixed with different soybean protein isolate(SPI)con-centrations,and its characteristics were evaluated to determine its potential use as a meat *** crickets were separated into the filtrate,supernatant,and pellet fractions by centrifugation and freeze-drying,and powdered and mixed with 18%SPI at different concentrations(5%-20%).The filtrate fraction had the lowest protein content and the highest fat and carbohydrate content among the nutrient ***,the supernatant and pellet fractions had high protein,low fat,and low carbohydrate ***-PAGE detected relatively low-molecular weight *** muscle proteins were identified,including actin,myosin,and hemocyanin,a protein that transports oxygen in *** the rheological characteristics of the cricket fraction,the entire fraction exhibited G’>G"in both the frequency and the temperature sweep tests,revealing a tendency for gel-like *** all cricket fractions,both G’and G"increased with increasing fraction powder *** printed,supernatant fractions had no structural stability,pellet fractions had 5%-15%stability,and filtrate fractions had 5%-20%*** three interval thixotropy test revealed that the pellet fraction had a recovery rate of over 90%after high shear *** profile analysis showed an increase in both hardness and *** heat treatment,cohesiveness was higher than adhesiveness,indicating greater ***-emission scanning electron microscopy results revealed that the pellet fraction was denser than the other fractions,particularly at higher *** on the overall characteristics,15%pellets were found to be the most appropriate fraction and concentration.
