Multi-spheric interactions driven differential formation and accumulation of hydrocarbon resources in the North Sea Basin

The North Sea Basin is the most important oil and gas producing area in Europe and the birthplace of many classic petroleum geological theories. From the perspective of multi-spheric interactions in the Earth, this study investigated the riftforeland-rift evolution process of the North Sea Basin, which was controlled by the deep dynamic driving forces of the continental collision orogeny, mantle plume uplift, and intraplate deformation. The North Sea Basin was found to have drifted northward since the Carboniferous and passed through the low-latitude Hadley and the mid-latitude Ferrel cells. Two sets of main hydrocarbon source rocks have formed, the coals and coal measures of the Upper Carboniferous Westphalian and the marine shale of the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation. We propose that the deep processes, tectonic activity, and transgression-climate evolution jointly controlled the types and horizons of the source rocks, reservoirs, and seals in different regions of the North Sea Basin. In the southern North Sea Basin, a Carboniferous-Lower Triassic gas-rich petroleum system was formed,which is characterized by transitional coal measure source rocks, desert aeolian sandstone reservoirs, and evaporite cap rocks. In the northern North Sea Basin, an Upper Triassic-Paleogene oil-rich petroleum system was formed, which is characterized by marine graben-type source rocks, deltaic sandstone and marine limestone reservoirs, and marine tight marl and shale cap *** late tectonic burial and uplift in the North Sea Basin further controlled the processes of oil and gas generation and accumulation, ultimately leading to a differential distribution pattern which is oil rich in the northern part and gas rich in the southern part of the basin. Characterization and degradation of β-Sn particles in thermal aged Pb-rich solder joint for low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) applications

High-lead solder joints are still playing an indispensable role in military and space ***, in-depth characterization of high-lead solder joints and the underlying degradation mechanisms remain unexplored. This research first performed aging tests on Sn10Pb90 solder joints, the shear strength at room and elevated temperatures gradually reduced, and the resistance increased. Here, a two-layered Ni–Sn intermetallic compound(IMC) structure was identified using transmission electron microscopy(TEM), which could be attributed to the change of Sn content in the solder. Moreover, the internal annealing twin of a Sn particle was discovered,which could be attributed to creeping induced by thermal expansion coefficient(CTE) difference between Sn and *** analysis of partial and whole annealing twins was conducted through high-resolution TEM(HRTEM).Finally, four degradation mechanisms were *** of the IMC layer would result in increased brittleness and resistivity. For particle coarsening, apart from diminishing the ductility and toughness of the solder joint, it would also accelerate the creeping rate by weakening the phase boundary strength. Regarding voids and cracks induced by phase boundary sliding, wedgeshaped cracking and pore-shaped cracking were discovered and their formation was analyzed. Most importantly, the consumption of Sn resulted in a depletion of wettable layer,leading to the formation of Pb streams and isolated IMC islands, also known as the spalling and delamination of IMCs. Pb diffusion followed a spiral path, which was mutually influenced by orientation misfit and concentration gradient. Global cooling began since 50 Ma,but a warm climate was maintained in the archipelagic tectonic system in Southeast Asia where a wealth of Cenozoic oil and gas resources was formed and *** the perspective of Earth system,this study analyzes Cenozoic tectonic activities,climatic and environmental evolution,and petroleum enrichment in Southeast Asia,and provides the following insights:(1)Subduction of oceanic plates and the extension of overlying continental lithosphere resulted in widespread volcanic eruptions as well as the formation of rift basins and shallow marine shelves,leading to complex interactions between deep tectonic processes and Earth’s surface including mountains,basins,and seas.(2)Microcontinental accretion and prolonged stay in equatorial low-latitude regions have changed trade winds into monsoons,altered ocean current pathways and flow rates,and profoundly affected rainfall and climate.(3)The archipelagic tectonic system,coupled with a hot and rainy climate,fostered tropical rainforests,mangroves,and phytoplankton,providing abundant organic matter and promoting the development of petroleum resources.(4)Combinations of rift basin development and marine transgression and regression led to an effective superposition of source-reservoir-seal combinations from multiplepetroleum *** deep burial of organic matter and high geothermal gradients facilitated the generation and large-scale accumulation of oil and gas.(5)Multi-spherical(such as atmosphere,biosphere,hydrosphere and lithosphere)interactions on the Earth,which resulted from the convergence of multiple tectonic plates,are believed as the primary driver for exceptional enrichments of Cenozoic oil and gas resources in Southeast *** understandings are significant for developing theories of oil and gas enrichment under the guidance of Earth System *** order to continue making significant oil and gas exploration discoveries in the deep-layers,deep-waters,and unconventio

The Influence of Chemical Admixtures on the Fluidity,Viscosity and Rheological Properties of Ultra-High Performance Concrete

To achieve higher strength and better durability,ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC)typically employs a relatively small water-binder ***,this generally leads to an undesired increase in the paste *** this study,the effects of liquid and powder polycarboxylate superplasticizers(PCE)on UHPC are compared and critically ***,the following influential factors are considered:air-entraining agents(AE),slump retaining agents(SA),and defoaming agents(DF)and the resulting flow characteristics,mechanical properties,and hydration properties are evaluated assuming UHPC containing 8‰powder PCE(PCE-based UHPC).It is found that the spread diameter of powder PCE is 5%higher than that of liquid *** the chemical admixtures studied,AEs have the best effect on improving UHPC workability,while DFs have the worst *** the addition of AE and SA is 1.25‰and 14.7%of PCE,paste viscosity reduces by 35%and 19%,respectively compared to the paste with only 8‰PCE.A low AE dosage(1.25‰)decreases compressive strength by 4.1%,while SA(8.1%)increases UHPC compressive strength by 9.1%.Both AE and SA significantly delay the UHPC hydration process,reducing the hydration heat release peaks by 76%and 27%,respectively.
