Cucumber is an important vegetable crop that has high nutritional and economic value and is thus favored by consumers *** an accurate and fast technique for measuring the morphological traits of cucumber fruit could be helpful for improving its breeding efficiency and further refining the development models for pepo *** present,several sets of measurement schemes and standards have been proposed and applied for the characterization of cucumber fruits;however,these manual methods are time-consuming and ***,in this paper,we propose a cucumber fruit morphological trait identification framework and software called CucumberAI,which combines image processing techniques with deep learning models to efficiently identify up to 51 cucumber features,including 32 newly defined *** proposed tool introduces an algorithm for performing cucumber contour extraction and fruit segmentation based on image processing *** identification framework comprises 6 deep learning models that combine fruit feature recognition rules with MobileNetV2 to construct a decision tree for fruit shape ***,the framework employs U-Net segmentation models for fruit stripe and endocarp segmentation,a MobileNetV2 model for carpel classification,a ResNet50 model for stripe classification and a YOLOv5 model for tumor *** relationships between the image-based manual and algorithmic traits are highly correlated,and validation tests were conducted to perform correlation analyses of fruit surface smoothness and roughness,and a fruit appearance cluster analysis was also *** brief,CucumberAI offers an efficient approach for extracting and analyzing cucumber phenotypes and provides valuable information for future cucumber genetic improvements.

The motion and the energy of electrons driven by the ponderomotive force in linearly polarized high-intensity laser standing wave fields are considered. The results show that there exists a threshold laser intensity, above which the motion of electrons incident parallel to the electric field of the laser standing waves undergoes a transition from regulation to chaos. We propose that the huge energy exchange between the electrons and the strong laser standing waves is triggered by inelastic scattering, which is related to the chaos patterns. It is shown that an electron＇s energy gain of tens of MeV can be realized for a laser intensity of 10^20 W/cm^2.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is the most serious infectious disease pandemic in the world in a century, and has had a serious impact on the health, safety, and social and economic development of all mankind. Since the earth entered the“Anthropocene”, human activities have become the most important driving force of the evolution of the earth system. At the same time, the epidemic frequency of major human infectious diseases worldwide has been increasing, with more than 70% of novel diseases having zoonotic origins. The review of several major epidemics in human history shows that there is a common rule, i.e., changes in the natural environment have an important and profound impact on the occurrence and development of epidemics. Therefore, the impact of the natural environment on the current COVID-19 pandemic and its mechanisms have become scientific issues that need to be resolved urgently. From the perspective of the natural environment, this study systematically investigated several major issues concerning the environmental transmission and risk prevention of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2). From a macroscopic temporal and spatial scale, the research focus on understand the impact of the destruction of the natural environment and global changes on the outbreak of infectious diseases;the threat of zoonotic diseases to human health;the regularity for virus diffusion, migration and mutation in environmental media;the mechanisms of virus transmission from animals and environmental media to humans;and environmental safety, secondary risk prevention and control of major epidemics. Suggestions were made for future key research directions and issues that need attention, with a view to providing a reference for the prevention and control of the global coronavirus disease 2019, and to improving the ability of response to major public health emergencies.

Plasma normal modes in ion-beam–plasma systems were experimentally investigated previously only for the waves propagating in the downstream(along the beam)*** this paper,the ion wave excitation and propagation in the upstream(against the beam)direction in an ion-beam–plasma system were experimentally studied in a double plasma *** waves were launched by applying a ramp voltage to a negatively biased excitation *** kinds of wave signals were detected,one is a particle signal composed of burst ions and the other is an ion-acoustic signal arising from the background *** signals were identified by the dependence of the signal velocities on the characteristics of the ramp *** velocity of the burst ion signal increases with the decrease of the rise time and the increase of the peak-to-peak amplitude of the applied ramp voltage while that of the ion-acoustic signal is independent of these *** adjusting these parameters such that the burst ion velocity approaches to the ion-acoustic velocity,the wave–particle interaction can be observed.

Background:Nest parasitism by cuckoos(Cuculus spp.)results in enormous reproductive failure and forces hosts to evolve antiparasitic strategies,i.e.,recognition of own eggs and rejection of cuckoo *** are often sexual conflicts between male and female individuals in the expression of antiparasitic behavior due to the differences in reproductive inputs and division of ***:By adding a foreign egg made of blue soft clay to the host nest during early incubation period in the field,and by removing several host eggs and adding experimental eggs to control the proportion of two egg types in the nest,we examined egg rejection ability,egg recognition mechanism and sexual difference in egg rejection of the Oriental Reed Warbler(Acrocephalus orientalis),one of the major hosts of Common Cuckoos(Cuculus canorus).Results:Our results indicated that Oriental Reed Warblers can recognize and reject nearly 100%(73/75)of the nonmimetic eggs made of blue soft clay,and they could reject foreign eggs with 100%accuracy,regardless of the ratio of experimental eggs and its own eggs in the ***,all cases of egg rejections recorded by videos were only carried out by ***:Oriental Reed Warblers have a high egg recognition ability and show a true recognition *** female warblers perform egg rejection,suggesting that the sex for host egg incubation seems to play an important role in the evolution of egg recognition mechanisms.

BACKGROUND： Previous studies have reported a neurotrophin-like motif in the N-terminal receptor binding region of the thrombopoietin （TPO） molecule, and have described localization of TPO and TPO receptor in the brain. Therefore, it is believed that TPO may be involved in regulation of neurogenesis. OBJECTIVE： To validate the effect of TPO on trans-differentiation, or differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells （HSCs） to neural stem cells （NSCs）. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Comparative studies were performed from march 2004 to April 2007 at the Department of Experimental Medicine, Northern Hospital, and the Department of Immunology, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. maTERIALS： Human fetal liver （FL） was obtained from fetuses after water-balloon abortion. Gestational age ranged from 16 to 20 weeks. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board and Ethics Committee of the Northern Hospital. TPO was kindly provided by Genentech Inc （USA）. Iscove＇s Modified Dulbecco＇s Medium （IMDM） and neurobasalTM medium were purchased from Invitrogen （USA）. maCS CD34 multisort kit was purchased from Miltenyi Biotec （Germany）. METHODS： CD34^＋ cells were isolated from human FL mononuclear cells using maCS CD34 multisort kit and cultured at 1 × 10^5/mL in IMDM, containing TPO for 60 days with weekly changes of half of the medium. After culturing for 30 and 60 days, the TPO-induced cells were resuspended in neurobasalTM medium containing 10% fetal brain extracts and plated in an 8-well BIOCOAT poly-D-Lysine Culture Slide and cultured for another 7 days. maIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Cell number, viability, phenotype and expression of hemopoiesis-related and neurogenesis-related proteins were examined by trypan blue exclusion with hemocytometer, immunoblot, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry. Supported single-atom catalysts(SACs)possess high catalytic activity,selectivity,and atom ***,the atom coordination environments of SACs are difficult to accurately regulate due to the high complexity of coordination site and local environment of ***,we develop an in-situ electrochemical cation-exchange method to fill the cation vacancies in MnO_(2)with Ru single atoms(SAs).This obtained catalyst exhibits high mass activity,which is~44 times higher than commercial RuO2 catalyst and excellent stability,superior to the most state-of-the-art oxygen evolution reaction(OER)*** experimental and theoretical results confirm that the doped Ru can induce charge density redistribution,resulting in the optimized binding of oxygen species,and the strong covalent interaction between Ru and MnO2 for resisting oxidation and *** work will provide a new concept in the synthesis of well-defined local environments of supported SAs.

With the increased use of agricultural machinery in field operations,soil compaction has become increasingly severe,and the plough pan has become *** is an excellent way to address this ***,it is limited by high energy consumption,which is closely related to tillage *** investigate the effect of the geometric shape of shanks and tines on tillage force and soil disturbance in loam,a layered soil model in accordance with the actual conditions was established and five different subsoilers were simulated via discrete element *** results indicated that the shank impacted soil disturbance and tine impacted tillage *** draft force of curved shank and chisel tine was 8%less than that of the straight shank and sweep *** straight shank and sweep tine produced a larger furrow profile and a higher furrow *** subsoiler with curved shank and chisel tine(C-C)exhibited the lowest specific resistance(12.87,17.52,19.46 and 21.18 kN/m^2 in the 30,35,40 and 45 cm tillage depth,respectively)considering the draft force and soil disturbance ***,these results will facilitate in the selection of a suitable subsoiler and design of new subsoilers with lower energy consumption requirements for loam areas worldwide.
