Objective To investigate the mechanisms underlying elemene-induced analgesia in rats with spared nerve injury(SNI).Methods Sixty-five rats were equally divided into 5 groups using a random number table:naive group,sham group,SNI group,SNI+elemene(40 mg·kg−1·d−1)group and naive+elemene(40 mg·kg−1·d−1)*** SNI rat model was established and the intervention were given respectively for 14 consecutive *** Frey filament tests and elevated plus-maze(EPM)tests were used to evaluate the effect of elemene on the mechanical threshold and anxiety,*** and immunostaining were used to measure the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)and NMYC downstream-regulated gene 2(NDRG2)within the lumbar spinal dorsal horn(SDH).Results The SNI rat model exhibited a significant decrease in paw withdrawal threshold and exploratory behaviour in the EPM(P<0.05).Consecutive administration of elemene alleviated SNI-induced mechanical allodynia and anxiety in rats(P<0.05).Immunohistochemical data showed that elemene decreased SNI-induced upregulation of NDRG2 within the SDH(P<0.05).Double immunofluorescent staining data further showed that elemene decreased SNI-induced upregulation of the number of GFAP immunoreactive(-ir),NDRG-ir,and GFAP/NDRG2 double-labelled cells within the SDH(P<0.05).Immunoblotting data showed that elemene decreased SNI-induced upregulation of GFAP and NDRG2 within the SDH(P<0.05).Conclusion Elemene possibly alleviated neuropathic pain by downregulating the expression of NDRG2 in spinal astrocytes in a rat model of SNI.

Whether endogenous neurogenesis occurs in the adult cortex remains *** increasing number of reports suggest that doublecortin(DCX)-positive neurogenesis persists in the adult primate cortex,attracting enormous attention *** this study,different DCX antibodies were used together with NeuN antibodies in immunohistochemistry and western blot assays using adjacent cortical sections from adult *** adsorption,antigen binding,primary antibody omission and antibody-free experiments were used to assess specificity of the *** found either strong fluorescent signals,medium-weak intensity signals in some cells,weak signals in a few perikarya or near complete lack of labeling in adjacent cortical sections incubated with the various DCX *** putative DCX-positive cells in the cortex were also positive for NeuN,a specific marker of mature ***,further experiments showed that most of these signals were either the result of antibody cross reactivity,the non-specificity of secondary antibodies or tissue *** confirmed DCX-positive cells were detected in the adult macaque cortex by *** findings show that DCX-positive neurogenesis does not occur in the cerebral cortex of adult primates,and that false-positive signals(artefacts)are caused by antibody cross reactivity and *** experimental protocols were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the Institute of Neuroscience,Beijing,China(approval ***-AMMS-2014-501).

The poor contact and side reactions between Li_(1.3)Al_(0.3)Ti_(1.7)(PO_(4))_(3)(LATP)and lithium(Li)anode cause uneven Li plating and high interfacial impendence,which greatly hinder the practical application of LATP in high-energy density solid-state Li metal *** this work,a multifunctional ferroelectric BaTiO_(3)(BTO)/poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene)(P[VDF-TrFE-CTFE])composite interlayer(B-TERB)is constructed between LATP and Li metal anode,which not only suppresses the Li dendrite growth,but also improves the interfacial stability and maintains the intimate interfacial contact to significantly decrease the interfacial resistance by two orders of *** B-TERB interlayer generates a uniform electric field to induce a uniform and lateral Li deposition,and therefore avoids the side reactions between Li metal and LATP achieving excellent interface *** a result,the Li/LATP@B-TERB/Li symmetrical batteries can stably cycle for 1800 h at 0.2 ma cm^(-2)and 1000 h at 0.5 ma cm^(-2).The solid-state LiFePO_(4)/LATP@B-TERB/Li full batteries also exhibit excellent cycle performance for 250 cycles at 0.5 C and room *** work proposes a novel strategy to design multifunctional ferroelectric interlayer between ceramic electrolytes and Li metal to enable stable room-temperature cycling performance.

A method was proposed for removing zirconium （Zr） from hydrous titanium dioxide （HTD） by the NaF solution. The effects of main parameters, i.e. pH values, NaF dosage, temperature and retention time, on the removal of zirconium were stud- ied. The optimal conditions were found as the following： pH value, 〈5.5; molar ratio of NaF to TiQ, 0.6; retention time, 80 min and temperature, 80℃. The removal rate of Zr under the optimized conditions was above 87.7%. The adsorption energy of the preferential absorption of hydrofluoric acid for Zr（OH）2SOt（OH2） on the （001） crystal surface of HTD was determined by theo- retical calculation. The possible mechanism of the removal process was also discussed.

Objective： To investigate the relationships between endothelial nitric oxide synthases （eNOS） G894T and 27 bpvariable number tandem repeat （VNTR） gene polymorphisms and osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women of Chinese Han nationality. Methods： In the present study, 281 postmenopausal women from Xi＇an urban area in West China were recruited, and divided into osteoporosis, osteopenia, and normal groups according to the diagnostic criteria of osteoporosis proposed by World Health Organization （WHO）. The bone mineral density （BMD） values of lumbar vertebrae and left hips were determined by QDR-2000 dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Blood samples were tested for plasma biochemical indicators including testosterone, estradiol, calcitonin, osteocalcin, and procollagen type I amino-terminal propeptide by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase by spectrophotometric method, and the content of nitric oxide by Griess method. Genome DNA was extracted from whole blood, and G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene was analyzed by using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） method and 27 bp-VNTR polymorphism of eNOS gene was genotyped by PCR method. Then the relationships between genotypes and biochemical indicators, genotypes and osteoporosis, and haplotypes and osteoporosis were analyzed. Results： The average BMD values of the femoral neck, ward＇s triangle and lumbar vertebrae 1-4 （LI-L4） in the subjects with T/T genotype in eNOS G894T locus were significantly higher than those in the subjects with G/T and G/G genotypes （P〈0.05）. The average BMD of the femoral neck in the subjects with a/a genotype of eNOS 27 bp-VNTR locus was evidently higher than that in the subjects with b/b genotype （P〈0.05）. The gut microbiota consistently shows strong correlations with lipid metabolism in humans and animals,and whether the gut microbiota contributes to muscle fatty acid(FA)deposition and meat traits in farm animals has not been fully *** this study,we aimed to unveil the microbial mechanisms underlying muscle FA deposition in ***,we systematically revealed the correlation between the gut microbiome and muscle FA levels in 43 obese Ningxiang pigs and 50 lean Duroc Landrace Yorkshire(DLY)*** fecal microbial transplantation showed that the obese Ningxiang pig-derived microbiota increased the muscle FA content and improved meat quality by reshaping the gut microbial composition in lean DLY *** reuteri has been identified as a potential microbial biomarker in obese Ningxiang pig-derived microbiota-challenged DLY pigs.A gavage experiment using lean DLY pigs confirmed that *** XL0930 isolated from obese Ningxiang pigs was the causal species that increased the muscle FA ***,SLC22A5,a carnitine transporter,was downregulated in *** XL0930-fed DLY pigs,resulting in reduced muscle carnitine *** and intestinal L-carnitine levels,which correlated with the muscle FA content,impeded fat synthesis and FA accumulation in in vitro and in vivo *** conclusion,we uncovered an unexpected and important role of the obese Ningxiang pig-derived microbiota in regulating muscle FA metabolism via the SLC22A5-mediated carnitine system.

Distribution and accumulation of zinc and nitrogen in wheat grain pearling fractions in response to foliar zinc and soil nitrogen applications

Increasing zinc(Zn)concentration in wheat grain is important to minimize human dietary Zn *** study aimed to investigate the effect of foliar Zn and soil nitrogen(N)applications on the accumulation and distribution of N and Zn in grain pearling fractions,N remobilization,and the relationships between nutrient concentration in the vegetative tissues and grain or its fractions in two cropping years in the North China *** results showed a progressive decrease in N and Zn concentrations from the outer to the inner parts of grain,with most of the accumulation in the core *** Zn application significantly increased N concentration in the pericarp,and soil N application increased N concentration in each grain *** treatments significantly increased core endosperm Zn *** Zn had no effect on grain N and Zn *** N application made N concentrated in the aleurone,promoted Zn translocation to the core endosperm and also increased N remobilization and its efficiency from the shoot to the grain,but no improved contribution to grain was found.N concentration in grain and its fractions were positively correlated with N in vegetative organs at anthesis and maturity,while positive correlations were obtained between N concentration in the pericarp and progressive central area of the endosperm and Zn concentration in the core ***,foliar Zn and soil N applications effectively increased yield and N and Zn concentrations in the wheat grain,particularly in the endosperm,and could be promising strategies to address Zn deficiency.
