Thick cathodes can overcome the low capacity issues,which mostly hamper the performance of the conventional active cathode materials,used in rechargeable Li ***,the typical slurry-based method induces cracking and flaking during the fabrication of thick *** addition,a significant increase in the charge-transfer resistance and local cur-rent overload results in poor rate capabilities and cycling stabilities,thereby limiting electrode *** this study,a synergistic dual-network combination strategy based on a conductive nanofibrillar network(CNN)and a nano-bridging amor-phous polyhydroxyalkanoate(aPHA)binder is used to demonstrate the feasibility of constructing a high-performance thick *** CNN and aPHA dual network facilitates the fabrication of a thick cathode(≥250μm thickness and≥90 wt%active cathode material)by a mass-producible slurry *** thick cathode exhibited a high rate capability and excel-lent cycling *** addition,the thick cathode and thin Li metal anode pair(Li//t-NCM)exhibited an optimal energy performance,affording high-performance Li metal batteries with a high areal energy of~25.3 mW h cm^(-2),a high volumetric power density of~1720 W L^(-1),and an outstanding specific energy of~470 W h kg^(-1)at only 6 mA h cm^(-2).

Secondary craniofacial necrotizing fasciitis from a distant septic emboli: A case report

BACKGROUND Craniofacial necrotizing fasciitis(CNF)is an uncommon but fatal infection that can spread rapidly through the subfascial planes in the head and neck *** usually progress rapidly,and early management is necessary to optimize *** SUMMARY A 43-year-old man visited our hospital with left hemifacial swelling involving the buccal and submandibular *** patient had fever for approximately 10 d before visiting the hospital,but did not report any other systemic *** tomography scan demonstrated an abscess with gas *** surgical drainage of the facial abscess,the patient’s systemic condition worsened and progressed to septic *** examination revealed pulmonary and renal *** percutaneous catheter drainage was performed at the renal abscess site,which caused improvement of *** patient showed no evidence of systemic complications during the 4-mo post-operative follow-up *** As the patient did not improve with conventional CNF treatment and symptoms only resolved after controlling the infection,the final diagnosis was secondary CNF with septic *** surgical decompression is important for CNF ***,if symptoms worsen despite early diagnosis and management,such as pus drainage and surgical intervention,clinicians should consider the possibility of a secondary abscess from internal organs.

Ultrafast synthesis of gold nanoparticles on cellulose nanocrystals via microwave irradiation and their dyes-degradation catalytic activity

This study represents a well-dispersed gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)synthesis process via cellulose nanocrystals(CNC)which acts as both reducing and supporting *** synthesis process was ultrafast and completed in a few seconds using microwave *** entire synthesis process was cost-effective,sustainable and *** synthesized(AuNPs/CNC)nanocomposite was investigated by transmission electron microscopy,selected area electron diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,energy dispersive X-ray analysis,X-ray diffraction,and UV–vis *** obtained AuNPs were well accumulated on the CNC surface and had a uniform spherical shape with an average diameter of 8±5.3 *** diameter of AuNPs could be altered by tuning the concentration of CNC *** synthesized AuNPs/CNC nanocomposite film exhibited excellent degradation properties against various organic dyes,namely,Allura red,Congo red,Rhodamine B and *** ultrafast degradation reactions followed pseudo first order *** the catalytic degradation reaction,AuNPs/CNC was transmitting electrons from a donor(NaBH4)to an acceptor(a dye).

Plants are continuously exposed to numerous biotic stresses throughout their *** arms race-driven coevolution with pathogens,plants have developed sophisticated immune systems,including pathogen-associated molecular pattern(PAMP)-triggered immunity(PTI)and effector-triggered immunity(ETI).PTI is initiated by the binding of danger signals to extracellular membrane-localized receptors calledpattern recognition receptors(PRRs).PTI triggers responses,including reactive oxygen species(ROS)bursts and the expression of defenseassociated ***,pathogens adapted to PTl secrete virulence proteins,effectors,to aid colonization,and ETl is then triggered by the recognition of these effectors by resistance proteins with a nucleotide-binding domain leucinerich repeat receptor(NLR).To circumvent this immune response,pathogens secrete various effectors into the host intracellular region and induce effector-triggered susceptibility(Zhou and Zhang.,2020).Currently,research on plant immunity has been primarily focused on plasma membrane and cytoplasmlocalized proteins,including oligomeric NLRs,resistosomes,and the secretion mechanisms of cytoplasmic effectors.

Let-7 miRNA and CDK4 siRNA co-encapsulated in Herceptin-conjugated liposome for breast cancer stem cells

Recently,breast cancer stem cells(BCSCs)have rapidly emerged as a novel target for the therapy of breast cancer as they play critical roles in tumor growth,maintenance,metastasis,and ***-7 miRNA is known to be downregulated in a variety of cancers,especially BCSCs,whereas CDK4 being overexpressed in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER-2)overexpressing tumor *** this study,let-7 miRNA and CDK4-specific siRNA were chosen as therapeutic agents and co-encapsulated in Herceptinconjugated cationic liposomes for breast cancer *** size,zeta potential,and encapsulation efficacy of mi/siRNA-loaded PEGylated liposome conjugated with Herceptin(Her-PEG-Lipo-mi/siRNA)were 176 nm,28.1 mV,and 99.7%±0.1%,*** cellular uptake(86%)was observed by fluorescence microscopy when SK-BR-3 cells were treated with Her-PEG-Lipo-mi/***,the increased amount of let-7a mRNA and decreased amount of cellular CDK4 mRNA were observed by qRT-PCR when SK-BR-3 cells were treated with Her-PEG-Lipo-mi/siRNA,which was even more so when SK-BR-3 stem cells were used(197 vs 768 times increase for let-7a,62%vs 68%decrease for CDK4).Growth inhibition(65%)andmigration arrest(0.5%)of the cellswere achieved by the treatment of the cells with Her-PEG-Lipo-mi/siRNA,but not withmi/siRNA complex or other *** conclusion,an efficient liposomal delivery system for the combination of miRNA and siRNA to target the BCSCs was developed and could be used as an efficacious therapeuticmodality for breast cancer.

AIM:To investigate the effects of a new opening pattern in neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet(Nd:YAG)laser posterior capsulotomy on visual ***:This technique was conducted along a circular *** energy ranged between 0.8 and1.2 mJ/pulse was consumed and mean total energy levels were 74±21 mJ(mean±standard deviation:SD,from 40 to167)and laser shots aimed at 150μm away behind a datum point and went along an imaginary line which extends 0.5 mm inside from optic margin and into the circular en bloc *** stands were attached with fragment and then they were cut off by the laser after circular *** circular fragment was completely separated from vitreous,and then this fragment was quickly sunk in intravitreal ***:The follow-up period ranges from at least a week to 40mo,making 15.8mo on *** procedural outcome showed 96%(74 eyes out of the 77eyes)enhancement in patients’visual *** macular edema or retinal detachment was not observed in any of the patients during follow-up ***:This new technique is expected to improve the weaknesses that the conventional procedures have by adding the process to cut off vitreous stands attached with the fragment by the laser to the circular application.

The recent discovery of topological superconductors(TSCs)has sparked enormous *** realization of TSC requires a delicate tuning of multiple microscopic parameters,which remains a great ***,we develop a first-principles approach to quantify realistic conditions of TSC by solving self-consistently Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation based on a Wannier function construction of band structure,in presence of Rashba spin-orbit coupling,Zeeman splitting and electron-phonon *** further demonstrate the power of this method by predicting the Mn-doped GeTe(Ge_(1-x)Mn_(x)Te)monolayer—a well-known dilute magnetic semiconductor showing superconductivity under hole doping—to be a Class D TSC with Chern number of−1 and chiral Majorana edge *** constructing a first-principles phase diagram in the parameter space of temperature and Mn concentration,we propose the TSC phase can be induced at a lower-limit transition temperature of~40 mK and the Mn concentration of x~0.015%.Our approach can be generally applied to TSCs with a phonon-mediated pairing,providing useful guidance for future experiments.

In this review intended for medical staff involved in patient rehabilitation,we provided an overview of the basic methods for managing amputation *** the amputation surgery,it is imperative to optimize the remaining physical abilities of the amputee through rehabilitation processes,including postoperative rehabilitation,desensitization,and continuous application of soft or rigid dressings for pain reduction and shaping of the *** on the situation,a prosthesis may be worn in the early stage of recovery or an immediate postoperative prosthesis may be applied to promote stump ***,to maintain the range of motion of the stump and to prevent deformation,the remaining portion of the limb should be positioned to prevent *** exercises should also be performed to improve muscle strength to ensure that the amputee is able to perform activities of daily living,***,clean wound or edema management of the stump is necessary to prevent problems associated with wearing the *** review is expected to contribute to the establishment of basic protocols that will be useful for stump management from the time of completion of amputation surgery to the fitting of a prosthesis to optimize patient recovery.

Passivation engineering via silica‐encapsulated quantum dots for highly sensitive photodetection

Organometal halide perovskites are promising semiconducting materials for photodetectors because of their favorable optoelectrical *** nanoscale perovskite materials such as quantum dots(QDs)show novel behavior,they have intrinsic stability *** this study,an effectively silane barrier-capped quantum dot(QD@APDEMS)is thinly applied onto a bulk perovskite photosensitive layer for use in ***@APDEMS is synthesized with a silane ligand with hydrophobic CH_(3)-terminal groups,resulting in excellent dispersibility and durability to enable effective *** introduction of the QD@APDEMS layer results in the formation of a lowdefect perovskite film with enlarged *** is attributed to the grain boundary interconnection effect via interaction between the functional groups of QD@APDEMS and uncoordinated Pb^(2+)in grain *** passivating the grain boundaries,where various trap sites are distributed,hole chargecarrier injection and shunt leakage can be ***,from the energy point of view,the deep highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)level of QD@APDEMS can work as a hole charge injection *** charge dynamics(generation,transfer,and recombination properties)and reduced trap density of QD@APDEMS are *** this perovskite film is used in a photodetector,the device performance(especially the detectivity)stands out among existing perovskites evaluated for energy sensing device applications.
