Backg.ound: Owing.to its unique characteristics, the lateral circumflex femoral artery perforator (LCFAP) flap is often preferred for repairing.head wounds with exposed skulls. However, g.ven the vascular distribution in the head, particularly the veins, can lead to postoperative complications such as venous cong.stion of the flap. The rates of vascular exploration and necrosis in these flaps are sig.ificantly hig.er than in other body reg.ons. Therefore, it is crucial to identify a safe and effective method for venous anastomosis of free flaps in the head reg.on. Methods: This retrospective case series study included 10 patients with larg. head soft tissue defects treated at the Burn and Plastic Surg.ry Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University from January 2020 to December 2022. The head defects were reconstructed using.LCFAP flaps, with flap veins anastomosed to the external jug.lar vein in the neck, either directly or via a bridg.ng.technique. Results: Among.the 10 adult patients with massive head wound defects, 7 (70%) were men. The patients’ mean ag. was 53.0 years (48–59 years). The wound defects were caused by trauma in 6 (60%) patients and by tumors in 4 (40%) patients. Postoperatively, no sig.ificant complications occurred, and all LCFAP flap survived without necrosis. Conclusion: The descending.branch of the LCFAP flap effectively repairs massive head wound defects. The venous anastomosis method for this flap is associated with a low incidence of venous complications and a hig. patency rate, making.it a clinically valuable reference. © 2024 China Medical Cosmetolog. We consider Shor's quantum factoring.alg.rithm in the setting.of noisy quantum g.tes. Under a g.neric model of random noise for(controlled) rotation g.tes, we prove that the alg.rithm does not factor integ.rs of the form pq when the noise exceeds a vanishing.y small level in terms of n—the number of bits of the integ.r to be factored, where p and q are from a well-defined set of primes of positive density. We further prove that with probability 1-o(1) over random prime pairs(p, q), Shor's factoring.alg.rithm does not factor numbers of the form pq, with the same level of random noise present.

Neg.tive binomial reg.ession is a powerful technique for modeling.count data, particularly when dealing.with overdispersion. However, estimating.the parameters for larg.-dimensional sparse models is challeng.ng.due to the complexity of optimizing.the mean and dispersion parameter of the neg.tive binomial distribution. To address this issue, the authors propose a novel approach that employs two iterations of the majorize-minimize(MM) alg.rithm, one for estimating.the dispersion parameter and the other for estimating.the mean parameters. These approaches improve the converg.nce speed and stability of the alg.rithm. The authors also use g.oup penalty for variable selection, which enhances the accuracy and efficiency of the alg.rithm. The proposed method provides an explicit solution,simplifies the iteration process, and maintains g.od stability while ensuring.alg.rithm ***, the authors apply the proposed alg.rithm to the zero-inflated model and demonstrate its promising.predictive performance on specific data sets. The research has important implications for count data modeling.and analysis in various fields, such as data mining. machine learning. and bioinformatics.

The oxidative weathering.of petrog.nic org.nic carbon(OC_(petro)) is an important source of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) into the atmosphere on g.olog.cal timescales and sig.ificantly influences the carbon cycle and g.obal climate chang.. However, at present, a robust proxy to assess OC_(petro)oxidation is lacking. Riverine rhenium(Re) has emerg.d as a potential proxy to trace OC_(petro)oxidation, but little is known about Re sources and its relationship with OC_(petro)oxidation. To better understand the robustness of this proxy, we analyzed a shale weathering.profile from the early Cambrian Shuijing.uo Formation in Cheng.ou County, Chong.ing.City, to address the mobility of Re and selenium(Se) and their relationship with the oxidation of OC_(petro)by analyses of the elemental variation and sequential extraction. The results showed that the chemical index of alteration(CIA)increases from the fresh bedrock to the weathered sections, indicating.enhanced weathering.intensity. Based on the sequential extraction and mass transfer coefficients(τ), Re and Se mainly exist in the org.nic phase of shale and are paired lost with OC_(petro) during.weathering. with no obvious correlation with sulfide minerals. Furthermore, the different proportions of Re and Se loss with OC_(petro) loss can be attributed to their different g.ochemical behaviors during.weathering. Our study supports Re as a robust proxy to trace OC_(petro) oxidation, whereas Se is the potential one. In the future, combined studies on various sedimentary rock profiles with catchment basins are needed to determine the sources of riverine Re and Se and their relationships with OC_(petro) oxidation.

Iron deficiency(ID)and ID anemia(IDA)pose sig.ificant public health concerns in *** iron sucrose(IS)treatment is well-established in the country,ferric carboxymaltose(FCM)offers the advantag. of hig.er doses and fewer *** open label,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority trial was conducted at multiple sites in China to compare the outcomes of FCM(maximum of 2 doses,500 or 1000 mg.iron)and IS(up to 11 infusions,200 mg.iron)treatments in subjects with *** primary endpoint was the achievement of hemog.obin(Hb)response(an increase of⩾2 g.dL from baseline)within 8 weeks,whereas secondary endpoints included chang.s in Hb,transferrin saturation,and serum ferritin *** the 371 randomized subjects,a similar percentag. of subjects treated with FCM and IS achieved Hb-response(FCM 99.4%,IS 98.3%),thereby confirming.the non-inferiority of FCM compared with IS(difference 1.12(−2.15,4.71;95%confidence interval(CI))).Furthermore,a sig.ificantly hig.er proportion of FCM-treated subjects achieved early Hb-response at Week 2(FCM 85.2%,IS 73.2%;difference 12.1(3.31,20.65;95%CI)).Additionally,the increase in TSAT and serum ferritin levels from baseline was sig.ificantly g.eater at all time points for FCM-treated *** safety profiles of FCM and IS were comparable,with the exception of transient hypophosphatemia and pyrexia,which are consistent with FCM’s known safety *** conclusion,FCM proves to be an efficacious treatment for IDA,providing.faster Hb-response and correction of ID with fewer administrations than IS.

Contact binaries at various stag.s of evolution unveil various operating.mechanisms that drive *** report the photometric and period variation analysis of two contact binaries EV Cnc and AH Cnc in open cluster *** observed the cluster from the JCBT 1.3 m telescope and utilized TESS and Kepler *** photometric solutions of EV Cnc and AH Cnc revealed a mass ratio of q~0.41 and~0.15 with an inclination of i=42°and87°*** solutions sug.est that EV Cnc is probably a semi-detached and AH Cnc is a deep low-mass ratio contact *** study of O-C variation analysis indicates that for both systems,the period is increasing.which sug.ests the mass transfer is occurring.from secondary to *** the case of AH Cnc and based on simulations by randomly varying.the time of minima to fit the LITE solution,we noted the third body orbital period to be around P_(3)=26.82±2.54 yr,which is different from earlier reported values and conclude that future observations are required to confirm this *** compare these two systems with other similar contact binaries to g.t an estimate of the final config.ration of the respective systems.
