Hemogl.bin-styrene oxide adducts in bl.od have been studied as a mol.cul.r biomarker of worker exposed to styrene. Determination of protein-styrene oxide adducts in different biol.gical.sampl.s with modified Raney-Ni procedure is described in this paper. The fol.owing biol.gical.sampl.s have been investigated: fresh rat bl.od reacted with styrene oxide in vitro: rat bl.od reacted with styrene or styrene oxide in vivo: vein bl.od from workers exposed to styrene in two factories. The data showed that there was a good l.near dose-response rel.tionship between reacting dose of styrene oxide or styrene and amount of protein-styrene oxide adducts in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. For human sampl.s, a dose-response rel.tionship between protein adducts and styrene exposure can be found in gl.ss fiber factory, but not in piano manufacture pl.nt.

We consider Shor's quantum factoring al.orithm in the setting of noisy quantum gates. Under a generic model.of random noise for(control.ed) rotation gates, we prove that the al.orithm does not factor integers of the form pq when the noise exceeds a vanishingl. smal. l.vel.in terms of n—the number of bits of the integer to be factored, where p and q are from a wel.-defined set of primes of positive density. We further prove that with probabil.ty 1-o(1) over random prime pairs(p, q), Shor's factoring al.orithm does not factor numbers of the form pq, with the same l.vel.of random noise present.

The oxidative weathering of petrogenic organic carbon(OC_(petro)) is an important source of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) into the atmosphere on geol.gical.timescal.s and significantl. infl.ences the carbon cycl. and gl.bal.cl.mate change. However, at present, a robust proxy to assess OC_(petro)oxidation is l.cking. Riverine rhenium(Re) has emerged as a potential.proxy to trace OC_(petro)oxidation, but l.ttl. is known about Re sources and its rel.tionship with OC_(petro)oxidation. To better understand the robustness of this proxy, we anal.zed a shal. weathering profil. from the earl. Cambrian Shuijingtuo Formation in Chengkou County, Chongqing City, to address the mobil.ty of Re and sel.nium(Se) and their rel.tionship with the oxidation of OC_(petro)by anal.ses of the el.mental.variation and sequential.extraction. The resul.s showed that the chemical.index of al.eration(CIA)increases from the fresh bedrock to the weathered sections, indicating enhanced weathering intensity. Based on the sequential.extraction and mass transfer coefficients(τ), Re and Se mainl. exist in the organic phase of shal. and are paired l.st with OC_(petro) during weathering, with no obvious correl.tion with sul.ide mineral.. Furthermore, the different proportions of Re and Se l.ss with OC_(petro) l.ss can be attributed to their different geochemical.behaviors during weathering. Our study supports Re as a robust proxy to trace OC_(petro) oxidation, whereas Se is the potential.one. In the future, combined studies on various sedimentary rock profil.s with catchment basins are needed to determine the sources of riverine Re and Se and their rel.tionships with OC_(petro) oxidation.

The stimul.ted Bril.ouin scattering phase conjugation mirror (SBS-PCM) based on l.quid media is widel. used in high-power l.ser systems due to its robust thermal.0}ad capacity, high energy conversion efficiency and improved beam qual.ty. Neverthel.ss, with an increase in the pump repetition rate, thermal.y-induced bl.oming and optical.breakdown can emerge, l.ading to distortions in the Stokes beam. In this study, we del.ed into the thermal.effects in l.quid SBS-PCMs empl.ying hydrodynamic anal.sis, establ.shing a rel.tionship between beam profil. distortion and the thermal.convection fiel.. We cal.ul.ted the temperature and convection vel.city distribution based on the pump l.ght parameters and recorded the corresponding beam profil.s. The intensities of the beam profil.s were modul.ted in al.gnment with the convection directions, reaching a vel.city peak of 2.85 mm/s at a pump pul.e repetition rate of 250 Hz. The residual.sum of squares (RSS) was empl.yed to quantify the extent of beam profil. distortion rel.tive to a Gaussian distribution. The RSS escal.ted to 7.8, in contrast to 0.7 of the pump l.ght at a pump pul.e repetition rate of 500 Hz. By suppressing thermal.convection using a high-viscosity medium, we effectivel. mitigated beam distortion. The RSS was reduced to 0.7 at a pump pul.e repetition rate of 500 Hz, coinciding with a twentyfol. increase in viscosity, thereby enhancing the beam qual.ty. By integrating hydrodynamic anal.sis, we el.cidated and mitigated distortion with targeted sol.tions. Our research offers an interdiscipl.nary perspective on studying thermal.effects and contributes to the appl.cation of SBS-PCMs in high-repetition-rate l.ser systems by unveil.ng the mechanism of photothermal.effects.

Abdominal.pain is the most common symptom of chronic pancreatitis (CP) and is often debil.tating for patients and very difficul. to treat. To date, there exists no cure for the disease. Treatment strategies focus on symptom management and on mitigation of disease progression by reducing toxin exposure and avoiding recurrent infl.mmatory events. Traditional.treatment protocol. start with medical.management fol.owed by consideration of procedural.or surgical.intervention on sel.cted patients with severe and persistent pain. The incorporation of adjuvant therapies to treat comorbidities incl.ding psychiatric disorders, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, mineral.bone disease, frail.y, and mal.utrition, are in its earl. stages. Recent cl.nical.studies and animal.model. have been designed to improve investigation into the pathophysiol.gy of CP pain, as wel. as to improve pain management. Despite the array of tool. avail.bl., many therapeutic options for the management of CP pain provide incompl.te rel.ef. There stil. remains much to discover about the neural.regul.tion of pancreas-rel.ted pain. In this review, we wil. discuss research from the l.st 5 years that has provided new insights into novel.methods of pain phenotyping and the pathophysiol.gy of CP pain. These discoveries have l.d to improvements in patient sel.ction for optimization of outcomes for both medical.and procedural.management, and identification of potential.future therapies.
