On building machine learning pipelines for Android malware detection:a procedural survey of practices,challenges and opportunities

As the smartphone market leader,Android has been a prominent target for malware attacks.The number of malicious applications(apps)identified for it has increased continually over the past decade,creating an immense challenge for all parties involved.For market holders and researchers,in particular,the large number of samples has made manual malware detection unfeasible,leading to an influx of research that investigate Machine Learning(ML)approaches to automate this process.However,while some of the proposed approaches achieve high performance,rapidly evolving Android malware has made them unable to maintain their accuracy over time.This has created a need in the community to conduct further research,and build more flexible ML pipelines.Doing so,however,is currently hindered by a lack of systematic overview of the existing literature,to learn from and improve upon the existing solutions.Existing survey papers often focus only on parts of the ML process(e.g,data collection or model deployment),while omitting other important stages,such as model evaluation and explanation.n this paper,we address this problem with a review of 42 highly-cited papers,spanning a decade of research(from 2011 to 2021).We introduce a novel procedural taxonomy of the published literature,covering how they have used ML algorithms,what features they have engineered,which dimensionality reduction techniques they have employed,what datasets they have employed for training,and what their evaluation and explanation strategies are.Drawing from this taxonomy,we also identify gaps in knowledge and provide ideas for improvement and future work.

Introduction: The improvement of survival in patients with cancer and the expansion of therapeutic options have led to the emergence of a new profile of cardiotoxicity, specifically associated with antimitotic agents. Our study aimed to assess the incidence of chemotherapy-induced myocardial toxicity in patients with cancer. Patients and Methods: We conducted a looking-forward longitudinal cohort study including all patients admitted to the Cardiology departments of Aristide le Dantec Hospital and Dalal Jamm National Hospital Centre for apre-chemotherapy check-up. The included patients did not undergo any pre-existing cardiopathy. Results: Over a period of two years ranging from January 2019 to December 2021, a total of 37 patients were included in the study. Notably, there was a female predominance (92%) with an average age of 49.7 years ± 13.69. Breast cancer accounted for 70% of the neoplasms. Laboratory findings revealed moderate anemia in 19 patients (51%). At inclusion, the left ventricle (LV) was of normal size (LV diastole at 44.46 ± 4.97 mm). The systolic function of the left ventricle was normal in all patients, with an average ejection fraction (EF) of 63.1% ± 5.80 and a mean global longitudinal strain (GLS) of −20.4% ± 2.58. The most commonly used agents were anthracyclines. During follow-up, 3 patients (8.1%) developed clinical symptoms of left heart failure, and LV dysfunction on echocardiography was observed in 5 (13.5%) patients, with a significant decrease in EF Conclusion: The incidence of cardiac toxicity is not negligible, hence the importance of early screening. Strain imaging is an essential tool that should be performed as part of the assessment before chemotherapy and re-evaluated during treatment.

A socioeconomic approach to the profile of microcredit holders from the Hispanic minority in the USA

The subject of this study is the microcredit market in the USA,more specifically in Florida.The justification for choosing this specific state is the massive presence of the Hispanic population.This will facilitate a generalization of the obtained results to the microcredit market in Latin American countries.Thus,the objective of this study is to analyze the profile of microcredit holders and their companies from socioeconomic and financial points of view.As our data also consider the degree of repayment of the microloans included in the sample,the clients’profile is related to the punctuality or default of their corresponding loan repayments using the methodology of multi-nomial logit regression.The variables used in this study refer to personal information concerning borrowers(gender,age,education level,and marital status),the economic situation of their respective companies(closeness to the lender,number of workers,and revenues),and the characteristics of granted loans(principal,term,and purpose).However,the results of the regression show that only two variables are significant at the 5%significance level:the borrower’s age,which has a positive effect on repay-ment punctuality,and the loan term,which exhibits a negative effect.The findings of this study have clear implications,as they can help lenders design suitable microloans adjusted to customer profiles.Finally,future research should include other demograph-ics and characteristics of affected companies.

Open Cows in a Beef Cattle Enterprise Managed in a Seasonal Breeding Program? An Appraisal of Their Reproductive Performance Based on Body Fat Reserves

A comparison between two distinct levels of back fat thickness in open cows, females not becoming pregnant during the previous breeding season, was carried out in order to evaluate their reproductive performance prior to the next natural mating in a seasonal breeding program. Thirty open cows from the previous breeding season were divided evenly by age and back fat thickness (BFT) in two groups. HBFT (high back fat thickness ≥ 70 mm) and LBFT (low back fat thickness ≤ 70 mm), values statistically different between groups (P < 0.05). The study was divided into three phases in which the formation of CL and follicular dynamics were recorded by ultrasound and progesterone. Also, serial monitoring of glucose, urea and triglycerides and back fat thickness were studied. A fertile bull previously approved from a breeding soundness evaluation was introduced after the third phase and remained with the herd for 90 days. No differences were found in the follicular dynamics;the number of animals cycling in the two groups and fertility were also similar (80%). Differences in urea and triglycerides were found in cows with high scores of BFT. In conclusion, the decision of keeping open cows to the next breeding season must be based on an economical advantage to the farmer.

Dirac Quantum Beats in Extreme Relativistic Diffraction in Time

We solve the relativistic Dirac equation for the shutter problem. We prove that, at intermediate relativistic energies, the probability density oscillates in time in a similar way to the optical Fresnel oscillations in a straight edge. However, for extreme-relativistic beams, the Fresnel oscillations turn into quantum damped beats.

Three-Layer Multi-UAVs Path Planning Based on ROBL-MFO

This paper proposes a new three-layer path planning method,where we fused two existing path planning methods(global path and local path)into a single problem for multi-unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)path planning for UAV.The global-path network layer contains the latest information and algorithms for global planning according to specific applications.The trajectory planning layer represents the kinematics and different motion characteristics,the planningexecution layer implements the local planning algorithm for obstacle avoidance.In the last layer,we propose a new swarm intelligence algorithm called the refraction principle and opposite-based-learning moth flame optimization(ROBL-MFO).In contrast to the classical MFO,the proposed algorithm addresses the shortcoming of the classical MFO algorithm.First,it adapts the moth position update formula to the notion of historical optimal flame average and improves the convergence speed of the algorithm.Second,it utilizes a random inverse learning strategy to narrow down the search space.Finally,the principle of refraction gives the algorithm the ability to jump out of local optima and helps the algorithm avoid premature convergence.The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is versatile,robust,and stable.

Over the decades,the spin dynamics of a large set of lanthanide complexes have been explored.Lanthanide-based molecular nanomagnets are bistable spin systems,generally conceptualised as classical bits,but many lanthanide complexes have also been presented as candidate quantum bits(qubits).Here,we offer a third alternative and model them as probabilistic bits(p-bits),where their stochastic behaviour constitutes a computational resource instead of a limitation.Employing an ad-hoc modelling tool for molecular spin p-bits and molecular nanomagnets,we simulate a minimal p-bit network under realistic conditions.Finally,we go back to a recently published dataset and screen the best lanthanide complexes for p-bit behaviour,lay out the performance of the different lanthanide ions and chemical families and offer some chemical design considerations.

Human prion-like proteins often correspond to nucleic acid binding proteins,displaying both globular domains and long intrinsically disordered regions(IDRs)(Harrison and Shorter,2017).Their IDRs are of low complexity and resemble in amino acid composition to the disordered yeast prion domains,being usually enriched in Gln and Asn residues and depleted in hydrophobic and charged residues.Accordingly,these sequence stretches are named prion-like domains(PrLDs).Prion-like proteins can aggregate into amyloid fibrils,which can accommodate incoming protein monomers,propagating thus the polymeric fold,both processes being。

Chaotic Lid-Driven Square Cavity Flows at Extreme Reynolds Numbers

This paper investigates the chaotic lid-driven square cavity flows at extreme Reynolds numbers.Several observations have been made from this study.Firstly,at extreme Reynolds numbers two principles add at the genesis of tiny,loose counterclockwise-or clockwise-rotating eddies.One concerns the arousing of them owing to the influence of the clockwise-or counterclockwise currents nearby;the other,the arousing of counterclockwise-rotating eddies near attached to the moving(lid)top wall which moves from left to right.Secondly,unexpectedly,the kinetic energy soon reaches the qualitative temporal limit’s pace,fluctuating briskly,randomly inside the total kinetic energy range,fluctuations which concentrate on two distinct fragments:one on its upper side,the upper fragment,the other on its lower side,the lower fragment,switching briskly,randomly from each other;and further on many small fragments arousing randomly within both,switching briskly,randomly from one another.As the Reynolds number Re→∞,both distance and then close,and the kinetic energy fluctuates shorter and shorter at the upper fragment and longer and longer at the lower fragment,displaying tall high spikes which enlarge and then disappear.As the time t→∞(at the Reynolds number Re fixed)they recur from time to time with roughly the same amplitude.For the most part,at the upper fragment the leading eddy rotates clockwise,and at the lower fragment,in stark contrast,it rotates counterclockwise.At Re=109 the leading eddy-at its qualitative temporal limit’s pace—appears to rotate solely counterclockwise.

Hopf Bifurcations, Drops in the Lid–Driven Square Cavity Flow

The lid-driven square cavity flow is investigated by numerical experiments.It is found that from Re=5,000 to Re=7,307.75 the solution is stationary,but at Re=7,308 the solution is time periodic.So the critical Reynolds number for the first Hopf bifurcation localizes between Re=7,307.75 and Re=7,308.Time periodical behavior begins smoothly,imperceptibly at the bottom left corner at a tiny tertiary vortex;all other vortices stay still,and then it spreads to the three relevant corners of the square cavity so that all small vortices at all levels move periodically.The primary vortex stays still.At Re=13,393.5 the solution is time periodic;the long-term integration carried out past t_(∞)=126,562.5 and the fluctuations of the kinetic energy look periodic except slight defects.However at Re=13,393.75 the solution is not time periodic anymore:losing unambiguously,abruptly time periodicity,it becomes chaotic.So the critical Reynolds number for the second Hopf bifurcation localizes between Re=13,393.5 and Re=13,393.75.At high Reynolds numbers Re=20,000 until Re=30,000 the solution becomes chaotic.The long-term integration is carried out past the long time t_(∞)=150,000,expecting the time asymptotic regime of the flow has been reached.The distinctive feature of the flow is then the appearance of drops:tiny portions of fluid produced by splitting of a secondary vortex,becoming loose and then fading away or being absorbed by another secondary vortex promptly.At Re=30,000 another phenomenon arises—the abrupt appearance at the bottom left corner of a tiny secondary vortex,not produced by splitting of a secondary vortex.
