Physical aging is currently a major obstacle for the commercialization of PIM-1 membranes for gas separation applications.A well-known approach to reversing physical aging effects of PIM-1 membranes at laboratory scale is soaking them in lower alcohols,such as methanol and ***,this procedure does not seem applicable at industrial level,and other strategies must be *** this work,a regeneration method with alcohol vapors(ethanol or methanol)was developed to recover permeability of aged PIM-1 membranes,in comparison with the conventional soaking-in-liquid *** gas permeability and separation performance,before and post the regeneration methods,were assessed using a binary mixture of CO_(2) and CH_(4)(1:1,v:v).Our results show that an 8-hour methanol vapor treatment was sufficient to recover the original gas permeability,reaching a CO_(2) permeability>7000 barrer.

We establish a Dahlberg-type perturbation theorem for second order divergence form elliptic operators with complex coefficients. In our previous paper, we showed the following result: If L_0 = div A^0(x)? + B^0(x) · ? is a p-elliptic operator satisfying the assumptions of Theorem 1.1 then the LpDirichlet problem for the operator L_0 is solvable in the upper half-space Rn+. In this paper we prove that the Lpsolvability is stable under small perturbations of L_0. That is if L_1 is another divergence form elliptic operator with complex coefficients and the coefficients of the operators L_0 and L_1 are sufficiently close in the sense of Carleson measures, then the LpDirichlet problem for the operator L_1 is solvable for the same value of p. As a corollary we obtain a new result on Lpsolvability of the Dirichlet problem for operators of the form L = div A(x)? + B(x) · ? where the matrix A satisfies weaker Carleson condition(expressed in term of oscillation of coefficients). In particular the coefficients of A need no longer be differentiable and instead satisfy a Carleson condition that controls the oscillation of the matrix A over Whitney boxes. This result in the real case has been established by Dindoˇs,Petermichl and Pipher.

Climate change is altering the timing and magnitude of biogeochemical fluxes in many high- elevation ecosystems. The consequent changes in alpine nitrification rates have the potential to influence ecosystem scale responses. In order to better understand how changing temperature and moisture conditions may influence ammonia oxidizers and nitrification activity, we conducted laboratory incubations on soils collected in a Colorado watershed from three alpine habitats （glacial outwash, talus, and meadow）. We found that bacteria, not archaea, dominated all ammonia oxidizer communities. Nitrification increased with moisture in all soils and under all temperature treatments. However, temperature was not correlated with nitrification rates in all soils. site-specific temperature trends suggest the development of generalist ammonia oxidzer communities in soils with greater in situ temperature fluctuations and specialists in soils with more steady temperature regimes. Rapidly increasing tempera- tures and changing soil moisture conditions could explain recent observations of increased nitrate production in some alpine soils.

The combination of urbanization and global warming leads to urban overheating and compounds the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events due to climate ***,the risk of urban overheating can be mitigated by urban green-blue-grey infrastructure(GBGI),such as parks,wetlands,and engineered greening,which have the potential to effectively reduce summer air *** many reviews,the evidence bases on quantified GBGI cooling benefits remains partial and the practical recommendations for implementation are *** systematic literature review synthesizes the evidence base for heat mitigation and related co-benefits,identifies knowledge gaps,and proposes recommendations for their implementation to maximize their *** screening 27,486 papers,202 were reviewed,based on 51 GBGI types categorized under 10 main *** GBGI(green walls,parks,street trees)have been well researched for their urban cooling ***,several other GBGI have received negligible(zoological garden,golf course,estuary)or minimal(private garden,allotment)*** most efficient air cooling was observed in botanical gardens(5.0±3.5℃),wetlands(4.9±3.2℃),green walls(4.1±4.2℃),street trees(3.8±3.1℃),and vegetated balconies(3.8±2.7℃).Under changing climate conditions(2070–2100)with consideration of RCP8.5,there is a shift in climate subtypes,either within the same climate zone(e.g.,Dfa to Dfb and Cfb to Cfa)or across other climate zones(e.g.,Dfb[continental warm-summer humid]to Bsk[dry,cold semi-arid]and Cwa[temperate]to Am[tropical]).These shifts may result in lower efficiency for the current GBGI in the *** the importance of multiple services,it is crucial to balance their functionality,cooling performance,and other related co-benefits when planning for the future *** global GBGI heat mitigation inventory can assist policymakers and urban planners in prioritizing effective interventions to reduce the risk of urban overheating,fi

Background:Professional health organizations are not currently recommending Tai Ji Quan alongside aerobic exercise to treat *** aimed to examine the efficacy of Tai Ji Quan as antihypertensive lifestyle ***:Tai Ji Quan interventions published in English and Chinese were included when they involved healthy adults,reported pre-and postintervention blood pressure(BP),and had a non-exercise/non-diet control *** systematically searched 11 electronic databases for studies published through July 31,2018,yielding 31 qualifying controlled ***(1)evaluated the risk of bias and methodological study quality,(2)performed meta-regression analyses following random-effects assumptions,and(3)generated additive models representing the largest possible clinically relevant BP ***:Participants(n=3223)were middle-aged(56.6±15.1 years of age,mean±sD)adults with prehypertension(systolic BP(sBP)=136.9±15.2 mmHg,diastolic BP(DBP)=83.4±8.7 mmHg).Tai Ji Quan was practiced 4.0±1.4 sessions/week for 54.0§10.6 min/session for 22.3±20.2 ***,Tai Ji Quan elicited significant reductions in sBP(-11.3 mmHg,95%CI:-14.6 to-8.0;d+=-0.75)and DBP(-4.8 mmHg,95%CI:-6.4 to-3.1;d+=-0.53)***(ps among samples with hypertension,Tai Ji Quan trials published in English elicited sBP reductions of 10.4 mmHg and DBP reductions of 4.0 mmHg,which was half the magnitude of trials published in Chinese(sBP reductions of 18.6 mmHg and DBP reductions of 8.8 mmHg).Conclusion:Our results indicate that Tai Ji Quan is a viable antihypertensive lifestyle therapy that produces clinically meaningful BP reductions(i.e.,10.4 mmHg and 4.0 mmHg of sBP and DBP reductions,respectively)among individuals with *** magnitude of BP reductions can lower the incidence of cardiovascular disease by up to 40%.
