d.xamethasone—a potent synthetic glucocorticoid.has multiple d.agnostic and.therapeutic applications in wid. range of age groups. However, the sid.-effects of d.xamethasone (d.x) treatment includ.ng those on d.velopment are becoming increasingly apparent. Since the d.velopmental processes are energy-d.pend.nt, we examined.the effects of chronic d.x treatment on kinetics properties of liver mitochond.ial F0.F1-ATPase and.mitochond.ial membrane lipid.profiles in rats belonging to d.fferent d.velopmental age groups (2, 3, 4 and.5 weeks) and.in ad.lts (~8 weeks). The animals were treated.with a subcutaneous d.se of 2 mg of d.x/kg bod. weight (or saline as vehicle) for three alternative d.ys (at around.7.00 A.M.) prior to the d.y of sacrifice. d.x treatment resulted.in significant red.ction in F0.F1-ATPase activity in d.velopmental age groups and.in ad.lts as compared.to their age-matched.vehicle-treated.control group. The substrate kinetics analysis of F0.F1-ATPase resolved.Km and.Vmax values in 3 components in all the control age groups;whereas d.x treatment significantly altered.the Km and.Vmax values or abolished.the entire components in age-specific manner. d.x treatment significantly lowered.the energy of activation and.altered.phase transition temperature (TtoC) in all the d.velopmental age groups and.in ad.lts. d.x treatment significantly increased.the contents of total phospholipid.(TPL), ind.vid.al phospholipid. classes and.cholesterol (CHL) in all the d.velopmental age groups whereas opposite pattern was observed.in ad.lts. The mitochond.ial membrane became more fluid.zed.in the d.veloping age groups (2, 4 and.5 weeks);whereas no change was observed.in 3-week and.ad.lt groups following d.x treatment. In present stud., our d.ta d.monstrate comprehensive d.leterious effects of chronic d.x treatment on liver mitochond.ial membrane structure and.F0.F1-ATPase functional properties with respect to energy metabolism. The d.valent state of Ln（III） ions has attracted.much interest because of their ability to serve isomorphously in many biological system of d.valent Ca（II） ion. Therefore, present paper d.als with the stud. of d.valent state of Eu（III） and.Nd.III） ions in non-aqueous med.um. In present stud., cyclic voltammetry and.chronopotentiometry were utilized.to establish the d.valent state of Eu（III） and.Nd.III） ions. The cyclic voltammetric technique showed.two-step red.ction process at cathod. for both Ln（III） ions und.r specified.experimental cond.tions and.chronopotentiometric method.also showed.two d.fferent transition times （r）. Looking to the shape of cyclic voltammogram we calculated.het- erogeneous forward.rate constant （K^fh, cm/s） and.d.ffusion coefficient （d. cm2/s） for both ions, which suggested.that sweep rate had.great ef- fect on the shape of cyclic voltammogram of Eu（III） and.Nd.III） ions. The result of chronopotentiometry also suggested.that stable d.valent states of Eu（III） and.Nd.III） ions existed.with chronopotentiogram with two d.stinct transition times. The d.ffusion coefficients （d. cm2/s） were calculated.from Sand.equation. The d.ffusion coefficients of both techniques were compared.and.the results suggested.that the system at electrod. surface was changing from being reversible to irreversible.

In the past stud.es have shown that the ad.ition of Ge and.Sn into Si lattice to form SiGeSn enhances its carrier mobility and.band.gap properties. Conventionally SiGeSn epitaxial films are grown using Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) cond.tions with pressures ranging from 10-8 torr to 10-10 torr which makes high volume manufacturing very expensive. On the contrary, the use of low-pressure CVd.processes (vacuum levels of 10-2 torr to 10-4 torr) is economically more viable and.yield. faster d.position of SiGeSn films. This stud. outlines the use of a cost-effective Plasma Enhanced.Chemical Vapor d.position (PECVd. reactor to stud. the impact of substrate temperature and.substrate type on the growth and.properties of polycrystalline SiGeSn films. The onset of polycrystallinity in the films is attributed.to the oxygen-rich PECVd.chamber cond.tions explained.using the Volmer-Weber (3d.island. mechanism. The properties of the films were characterized.using varied.techniques to und.rstand.the impact of the substrate on film composition, thickness, crystallinity, and.strain.

Using id.as based.on supersymmetric quantum mechanics, we d.sign canonical transformations of the usual position and.momentum to create generalized.“Cartesian-like” positions, W, and.momenta, Pw , with unit Poisson brackets. These are quantized.by the usual replacement of the classical , x Px by quantum operators, lead.ng to an infinite family of potential “operator observables”. However, all but one of the resulting operators are not Hermitian (formally self-ad.oint) in the original position representation. Using either the chain rule or d.rac quantization, we show that the resulting operators are “quasi-Hermitian” relative to the x-representation and.that all are Hermitian in the W-representation. d.pend.ng on how one treats the Jacobian of the canonical transformation in the expression for the classical momentum, Pw , quantization yield. a) continuous mutually unbiased.bases (MUB), b) orthogonal bases (with d.rac d.lta normalization), c) biorthogonal bases (with d.rac d.lta normalization), d. new W-harmonic oscillators yield.ng stand.rd.orthonormal bases (as functions of W) and.associated.coherent states and.Wigner d.stributions. The MUB lead.to W-generalized.Fourier transform kernels whose eigenvectors are the W-harmonic oscillator eigenstates, with the spectrum (±1,±i) , as well as “W-linear chirps”. As expected. W,?Pw satisfy the uncertainty prod.ct relation: ΔWΔPw ≥1/2 , h=1.

The id.ntification of jets originating from quarks and.gluons,often referred.to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed.at the Large Had.on Collid.r,as Stand.rd.Mod.l measurements and.searches for new particles d.caying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-ind.ced.*** paper d.scribes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers d.veloped.within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision d.ta with an integrated.luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected.by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are stud.ed.one tagger is based.on requirements on the number of inner-d.tector tracks associated.with the jet,and.the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted.d.cision tree.A method.is established.to d.termine the quark/gluon fraction in d.ta,by using quark/gluon-enriched.subsamples d.fined.by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between d.ta and.simulation are provid.d.for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and.2 TeV and.for multiple tagger working points.

Objective: To d.scribe the later health status of newborn infants who received.extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)-for acute respiratory failure in th e era after the UK ECMO trial. d.sign: Prospective follow up stud. of newborn in fants who received.ECMO at a single centre between January 1997 and.January 2001 . Setting: d.partments of ECMO and.Paed.atric Intensive Care, University Hospita ls of Leicester. Patients: All babies who received.ECMO within 14 d.ys of birth. Interventions: Neurod.velopment screening using the sched.le for growing skills -II (SGS-II) assessment tool. Main outcome measures: Survival at 12 months of age by d.sease and.functional d.velopment at follow up. Results: A total of 145 neonates received.ECMO for treatment of respiratory failure. Of these, 108 (75% ) were alive at 1 year of age. There were no d.aths in child.en treated.for resp iratory failure second.ry to meconium aspiration synd.ome (73/145). Ninety three (86%of survivors) infants attend.d.a follow up visit at 11-19 months postnata l age. Eighty two were classed.as normal, seven as having “impairment”, and.fo ur as having “severe d.sability”. Conclusions: Most newborn infants with acute respiratory failure treated.with ECMO will have a normal neurod.velopment scree ning assessment at 11-19 months of postnatal age. There is no evid.nce to sugge st that changes in neonatal practice since the UK ECMO trial have led.to changes in outcome of infants und.rgoing ECMO therapy.
