Robust interface and excellent as-built mechanical properties of Ti–6Al–4V fabricated through laser-aided additive manufacturing with powder and wire

The feasibility of manufacturing Ti-6Al-4V samples through a combination of laser-aided additive manufacturing with powder(LAAM_(p))and wire(LAAM_(w))was explored.A process study was first conducted to successfully circumvent defects in Ti-6Al-4V deposits for LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w),*** the optimized process parameters,robust interfaces were achieved between powder/wire deposits and the forged substrate,as well as between powder and wire *** characterization results revealed the epitaxial prior β grains in the deposited Ti-6Al-4V,wherein the powder deposit was dominated by a finerα′microstructure and the wire deposit was characterized by lamellar α *** mechanisms of microstructure formation and correlation with mechanical behavior were analyzed and *** mechanical properties of the interfacial samples can meet the requirements of the relevant Aerospace Material Specifications(AMS 6932)even without post heat *** fracture occurred within the interfacial area,further suggesting the robust *** findings of this study highlighted the feasibility of combining LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w) in the direct manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V parts in accordance with the required dimensional resolution and deposition rate,together with sound strength and ductility balance in the as-built condition.

Normally,the edge effects of surficial landslides are not considered in the infinite slope method for surficial stability analysis of soil *** this study,the limit stress state and discrimination equation of an infinite slope under saturated seepage flow were analyzed based on the Mohr-Coulomb strength ***,a novel failure mode involving three sliding zones(upper tension zone,middle shear sliding zone,and lower compression zone)was ***,based on the limit equilibrium analysis,a semi-analytical framework considering the edge effect for the surficial stability of a soil slope under downslope seepage was ***,the new failure mode was verified via a numerical finite element analysis based on the reduced strength theory with ABAQUS and some simplified methods using SLIDE *** results obtained by the new failure mode agree well with those obtained by the numerical analysis and traditional simplified methods,and can be efficiently used to assess the surficial stability of soil slopes under rainwater ***,an evaluation of the infinite slope method was performed using the semi-analytical method proposed in this *** results show that the infinite slope tends to be conservative because the edge effect is neglected,particularly when the ratio of surficial slope length to depth is relatively small.

Synthesis and design of output variable structure controller for time-invariant linear timedelay singular system are studied. In the case that the system is regular and the system index is one, switching function with integral compensator and variable structure controller are designed, which guarantee that the sliding mode is asymptotically stable and the solution trajectory of the system arrives at the switching manifold in limited time. The design method is applicable to the systems which can be regularized. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate effectiveness and simplicity of the design method.

This paper is focused on formability of multi-agent systems （MASs）. The problem is concerned with the existence of a protocol that has the ability to drive the MAS involved to the desired formation, and thus, is of essential importance in designing formation protocols. Formability of an MAS depends on several key factors： agents＇ dynamic structures, connectivity topology, properties of the desired formation and the admissible control set. Agents of the MASs considered here are described by a general continuous linear time-invariant （LTI） model. By using the matrix analysis and algebraic graph theory, some necessary and sufficient conditions on formability of LTI-MASs are obtained. These conditions characterize in some sense the relationship of formability, connectivity topology, formation properties and agent dynamics with respect to some typical and widely used admissible protocol sets.

It is difficult to obtain analytic approximations of nonlinear problems such as parameter excited system with strong nonlinearity. An analytic approach based on the homotopy analysis method( HAM) is proposed to study the sub-harmonic resonances of highly nonlinear parameter excited oscillating systems with absolute value terms. The non-smoothness of absolute value terms is handled by means of an iteration approach with Fourier expansion. Two typical examples are employed to illustrate the validity and flexibility of this approach. The square residuals of the homotopy-approximations of the two examples decrease to 10-6and 10-5,respectively. Thus,the HAM combining with other methods gives hope to solve complex singular oscillating systems analytically.

This paper presents a refinement calculus for service components. We model the behaviour of individual service by a guarded design, which enables one to separate the responsibility of clients from the commitment made by the system, and to identify a component by a set of failures and divergences. protocols are introduced to coordinate the interactions between a component with the external environment. We adopt the notion of process refinement to formalize the substitutivity of components, and provide a complete proof method based on the notion of simulations.
