Neural stem/progenitor cell （NSC） transplantation has been shown to effectively improve neurological function in rats with hypoxic-isch- emic brain damage. Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） is a signaling protein that stimulates angiogenesis and improves neural regeneration. We hypothesized that transplantation of VEGF-transfected NSCs would alleviate hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in neo- natal rats. We produced and transfected a recombinant lentiviral vector containing the VEGF165gene into cultured NSCs. The transfected NSCs were transplanted into the left sensorimotor cortex of rats 3 days after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage. Compared with the NSCs group, VEGF mRNA and protein expression levels were increased in the transgene NSCs group, and learning and memory abilities were significantly improved at 30 days. Furthermore, histopathological changes were alleviated in these animals. Our findings indicate that transplantation of VEGF-transfected NSCs may facilitate the recovery of neurological function, and that its therapeutic effectiveness is better than that of unmodified NSCs.

The disparity in the transfer of carriers(electrons/mass)during the reaction in zinc-air batteries(ZABs)results in sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),along with elevated overpotentials,thereby imposing additional constraints on its ***,the pre-design and target-development of inexpensive,high-performance,and long-term stable bifunctional catalysts are urgently *** this work,an apically guiding dual-functional electrocatalyst(Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C)was prepared,in which a hierarchical porous nitrogen-doped carbon with three-dimensional(3D)hollow star-shaped structure is used as a substrate and high-conductivity Ag nanoparticles are coupled with iron nitride(FeN_(x))*** calculations indicate that the Mott-Schottky heterojunction as an inherent electric field comes from the two-phase bound of Ag and FeN_(x),of which electron accumulation in the FeN_(x)phase region and electron depletion in the Ag phase region promote orientated-guiding charge *** effective modulation of local electronic structures felicitously reforms the d-band electron-group distribution,and intellectually tunes the masstransfer reaction energy barriers for both ORR/***,the hollow star-s haped hierarchical porous structure provides an apical region for fast mass *** results show that the halfwave potential for ORR is 0.914 V,and the overpotential for OER is only 327 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2).A rechargeable ZAB with Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C as the air cathode demonstrates long-term cycling performance exceeding 1500 cycles(500 h),with a power density of 180 mW cm^(-2).Moreover,when employing AgFeN_(x)-N-C as the air cathode,flexible ZABs demonstrate a notable open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V and achieve a maximum power density of 65.6 mW cm^(-2).Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C shows guiding electron/mass transfer route and apical reaction microenvironment for the electrocatalyst architecture in the explo

BACKGROUND:Hemoperitoneum is associated with several emergency conditions and is especially evident when it occurs in patients with liver *** study aimed to assess the clinical characteristics of cirrhotic patients who did not have abdominal trauma or tumor but who developed ***:We reviewed the clinical records of 1276 consecutive cirrhotic patients with hemoperitoneum at our center between January 2007 and December *** was confirmed by abdominal ***:Of the 1276 cirrhotic patients,19 were found to have hemoperitoneum,but only 6 did not have abdominal trauma or *** occurrence of spontaneous hemoperitoneum in the cirrhotic patients was therefore 0.5%.Hemoperitoneum can occur spontaneously in severely decompensated cirrhotic patients with intra-abdominal collateral vessels and high scores on the model for end-stage liver disease and Child-Pugh-Turcotte *** patients presented with abdominal distension,abdominal pain,increased abdominal girth and hemodynamic instability with a significant drop in the hemoglobin *** patients died of hemorrhagic shock within 24 hours,and the other 3 died of hepatic encephalopathy or spontaneous bacterial peritonitis after 5 to 10 days because of further decompensation of the ***:Hemoperitoneum can occur in cirrhotic patients who do not have abdominal trauma or *** mainly occurs in severely decompensated end-stage cirrhotic *** patients with hemoperitoneum have a poor prognosis.

The utilization of stone columns has emerged as a popular ground improvement strategy,whereas the drainage performance can be adversely hampered by clogging *** the ample progress of calculation methods for the consolidation of stone column-improved ground,theoretical investigations into the clogging effect have not been thoroughly ***,it is imperative to involve the column consolidation deformation to mitigate computational error on the consolidation of composite ground with high replacement *** this context,an analytical model accounting for the initial clogging and coupled time and depth-dependent clogging of stone columns is ***,the resulting governing equations and analytical solutions are obtained under a new flow continuity relationship to incorporate column consolidation *** accuracy and reliability of the proposed model are illustrated by degradation analysis and case studies with good ***,the computed results of the current study are juxtaposed against the existing models,and an in-depth assessment of the impacts of several crucial parameters on the consolidation behavior is *** results reveal that ignoring column consolidation deformation leads to an overestimate of the consolidation rate,with maximum error reaching up to 16%as the replacement ratio ***,the initial clogging also has a significant influence on the consolidation ***,the increment of depth and time-clogging factors a and b will induce a noticeable retardation of the consolidation process,particularly in the later stage.

The multi-point dynamic aggregation(MPDA)problem is a challenging real-world *** the MPDA problem,the demands of tasks keep changing with their inherent incremental rates,while a heterogeneous robot fleet is required to travel between these tasks to change the time-varying state of each *** robots are allowed to collaborate on the same task or work separately until all tasks are *** is challenging to generate an effective task execution plan due to the tight coupling between robots abilities and tasks'incremental rates,and the complexity of robot *** effectiveness consideration,we use the variable length encoding to avoid redundancy in the solution *** creatively use the adaptive large neighborhood search(ALNS)framework to solve the MPDA *** the proposed algorithm,high-quality initial solutions are generated through multiple problem-specific solution construction *** heuristics are also used to fix the broken solution in the novel integrated decoding-construction repair process of the ALNS *** results of statistical analysis by the Wilcoxon rank-sum test demonstrate that the proposed ALNS can obtain better task execution plans than some state-of-the-art algorithms in most MPDA instances.

The climate crisis necessitates the development of non-fossil energy sources. Harnessing solar energy for fuel production shows promise and offers the potential to utilize existing energy infrastructure. However, solar fuel production is in its early stages of development, constrained by low conversion efficiency and challenges in scaling up production. Concentrated solar energy(CSE) technology has matured alongside the rapid growth of solar thermal power plants. This review provides an overview of current CSE methods and solar fuel production, analyzes their integration compatibility, and delves into the theoretical mechanisms by which CSE impacts solar energy conversion efficiency and product selectivity in the context of photo-electrochemistry, thermochemistry, and photo-thermal co-catalysis for solar fuel production. The review also summarizes approaches to studying the photoelectric and photothermal effects of CSE. Lastly, it explores emerging novel CSE technology methods in the field of solar fuel production.

The critical rainfall of runoff-initiated debris flows is utmost importance for local early hazard *** paper presents research on the critical rainfall of runoff-initiated debris flows through comparisons between slope gradients and three key factors,including topographic contributing area,dimensionless discharge,and Shields *** rainfall amount was estimated by utilizing in-situ rainfall records and a slope-dependent Shields stress model was *** created model can predict critical Shields stress more accurately than the other two ***,a new dimensionless discharge equation was proposed based on the corresponding discharge-gradient *** new equation,along with factors such as contributing area above bed failure sites,channel width,and mean diameter of debris flow deposits,predicts a smaller rainfall amount than the in-situ measured *** the slope-dependent Shields stress model performs well and the estimated rainfall amount is lower than the in-situ records,the sediment initiation in the experiments falls within sheet flow regime due to a large Shields ***,further sediment initiation experiments at a steeper slope range are expected in the future to ensure that the sediment transport belongs to mass failure regime characterized by a low level of Shields ***,a more accurate hazard forecast on the runoff-initiated debris flow holds promise when the corresponding critical slope-dependent dimensionless discharge of no motion,fluvial sediment transport,mass flow regime,and sheet flow regime are considered.
