Local stability analysis of a low-dissipation cyclic refrigerator

We study the local stability near the maximum figure of merit for the low-dissipation cyclic refrigerator,where the irreversible dissipation occurs not only in the thermal contacts but also the adiabatic strokes.We find that the bounds of the coefficient of performance at a maximum figure of merit or maximum cooling rate in the presence of internal dissipation are identical to those in the corresponding absence of internal dissipation.Using two different scenarios,we prove the existence of a single stable steady state for the refrigerator,and clarify the role of internal dissipation on the stability of the thermodynamic steady state,showing that the speed of system evolution to the steady state decreases due to internal dissipation.

Allenes and oxindoles are two classes of very important compounds for medicinal chemistry and organic chemistry.Thus,it is of high interest to combine an allene and an oxindole into one molecule.Herein,the first example of palladium-catalyzed exclusive 2,3-allenylation reaction of oxindoles with 2,3-allenylic carbonates has been successfully developed.A rationale for the selectivity of 2,3-allenylation over the expected 1,3-alkadienylation has been proposed.

Purpose-With the rapid development and stable operated application of lithium-ion batteries used in uninterruptible power supply(UPS),the prediction of remaining useful life(RUL)for lithium-ion battery played an important role.More and more researchers paid more attentions on the reliability and safety for lithium-ion batteries based on prediction of RUL.The purpose of this paper is to predict the life of lithium-ion battery based on auto regression and particle filter method.Design/methodology/approach-In this paper,a simple and effective RUL prediction method based on the combination method of auto-regression(AR)time-series model and particle filter(PF)was proposed for lithiumion battery.The proposed method deformed the double-exponential empirical degradation model and reduced the number of parameters for such model to improve the efficiency of training.By using the PF algorithm to track the process of lithium-ion battery capacity decline and modified observations of the state space equations,the proposed PF t AR model fully considered the declined process of batteries to meet more accurate prediction of RUL.Findings-Experiments on CALCE dataset have fully compared the conventional PF algorithm and the AR t PF algorithm both on original exponential empirical degradation model and the deformed doubleexponential one.Experimental results have shown that the proposed PFtAR method improved the prediction accuracy,decreases the error rate and reduces the uncertainty ranges of RUL,which was more suitable for the deformed double-exponential empirical degradation model.Originality/value-In the running of UPS device based on lithium-ion battery,the proposed AR t PF combination algorithm will quickly,accurately and robustly predict the RUL of lithium-ion batteries,which had a strong application value in the stable operation of laboratory and other application scenarios.

The method of LA-MC-ICP-MS has become one choice for the analysis of many isotopic systems due to its relatively low cost,high analysis speed,high spatial resolution,and low matrix effect.However,there are still many challenges in the accuracy,precision,and spatial resolution of in situ isotopic composition determination by LA-MC-ICP-MS,which mainly include:(1)how to improve instrument sensitivity,further improve the spatial resolution,and achieve simultaneous determination of isotopes,multiple isotopes,or isotopes with trace elements in low-content samples?(2)how to deduct and correct interference to improve the accuracy of isotopic determination?(3)how to correct isotope fractionation?(4)how to reduce the matrix effect of isotopes?how to develop matrix-matched reference materials?and(5)how to achieve non-matrix-matched correction of isotopes?The high-sensitivity cone combinations,gas mixture,shield torch,and reasonable detector array can be applied to improve the elemental sensitivity.The interferences include the background interference and the interferences from the matrix elements(the isobaric interference,the polyatomic interference,and doubly charged ions interference).To reduce or even eliminate the interference,commonly used methods including interference elimination,background correction,and interference correction by evaluating with an interference-free isotope.Isotopic fractionation correction mainly involves external standard calibration and internal and pseudo-internal standard normalization.For non-matrix matched calibration,many methods can be applied,such as the femtosecond laser,line scan,low laser energy,wet plasma condition,optical setup below the sample surface,and matching the intensity of the sample and standard.In this review,we systematically summarized the above challenges and solutions to promote the study and application of LA-MC-ICP-MS in isotopic determination.

The radiation damage effect of key structural materials is one of the main research subjects of the numerical reactor.From the perspective of experimental safety and feasibility,Molecular Dynamics(MD)in the materials field is an ideal method for simulating the radiation damage of structural materials.The Crystal-MD represents a massive parallel MD simulation software based on the key material characteristics of reactors.Compared with the Large-scale Atomic/Molecurlar Massively Parallel Simulator(LAMMPS)and ITAP Molecular Dynamics(IMD)software,the Crystal-MD reduces the memory required for software operation to a certain extent,but it is very time-consuming.Moreover,the calculation results of the Crystal-MD have large deviations,and there are also some problems,such as memory limitation and frequent communication during its migration and optimization.In this paper,in order to solve the above problems,the memory access mode of the Crystal-MD software is studied.Based on the memory access mode,a memory access optimization strategy is proposed for a unique architecture of China’s supercomputer Sunway Taihu Light.The proposed optimization strategy is verified by the experiments,and experimental results show that the running speed of the Crystal-MD is increased significantly by using the proposed optimization strategy.

Spin liquids are exotic materials where the magnetic order is absent due to fluctuations at any finite temperature less than the spin interaction.Their occurrence is attributed to a high degree of ground state degeneracy.Wannier showed in 1950 that such a large degeneracy of ground state can theoretically take place in a two-dimensional(2D)triangular lattice with Ising spins,a classically geometrical frustrated lattice mode.So far,the geometrically frustrated lattice has a large family of systems:edge-shared triangles as a triangular lattice and corner-shared triangles as a kagomélattice in a 2D system and corner-sharing tetrahedra as a pyrochlore lattice in a three-dimensional system,etc.

Dear editor,Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common peripheral vascular disease, causing pulmonary embolism, post-venous thrombosis syndrome, chronic thrombotic pulmonary hypertension, and other complications.[1] The inferior vena cava filter (IVCF) implantation combined with adequate anticoagulation could lower the incidence of fatal PE to linical practice, the double inferior vena cava (IVC) malformation along with lower extremity DVT (LEDVT) is rarely seen.

The commercial viability of lithium-sulfur batteries is still challenged by the notorious lithium polysulfides(Li PSs)shuttle effect on the sulfur cathode and uncontrollable Li dendrites growth on the Li anode.Herein,a bi-service host with Co-Fe binary-metal selenide quantum dots embedded in three-dimensional inverse opal structured nitrogen-doped carbon skeleton(3DIO FCSe-QDs@NC)is elaborately designed for both sulfur cathode and Li metal anode.The highly dispersed FCSe-QDs with superb adsorptive-catalytic properties can effectively immobilize the soluble Li PSs and improve diffusion-conversion kinetics to mitigate the polysulfide-shutting behaviors.Simultaneously,the 3D-ordered porous networks integrated with abundant lithophilic sites can accomplish uniform Li deposition and homogeneous Li-ion flux for suppressing the growth of dendrites.Taking advantage of these merits,the assembled Li-S full batteries with 3DIO FCSe-QDs@NC host exhibit excellent rate performance and stable cycling ability(a low decay rate of 0.014%over 2,000 cycles at 2C).Remarkably,a promising areal capacity of 8.41 mAh cm^(-2)can be achieved at the sulfur loading up to 8.50 mg cm^(-2)with an ultra-low electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 4.1μL mg^(-1).This work paves the bi-serve host design from systematic experimental and theoretical analysis,which provides a viable avenue to solve the challenges of both sulfur and Li electrodes for practical Li-S full batteries.

COOPERATIVE ADVERTISING AND PRICING MODELS IN A DYNAMIC MARKETING CHANNEL

This paper studies dynamic pricing and cooperative advertising strategies in a two-member channel of distribution. We propose differential game models that incorporate the carryover effects of advertising over time for both manufacturer and retailer. Two different models are studied. Firstly, we discussed a non-cooperative differential game which the manufacturer supports partially the cost of the promotion activities. Secondly, both channel members cooperatively determine their respective strategies. In these two cases, dynamic cooperative advertising and pricing strategies are characterized. Then numerical simulation method is applied to analyze the sensitivity of main model parameters and compare the main results of the two models. The simulation results show that the cooperative model achieves better coordination than the non-cooperative model with the following features： all channel members achieve higher advertising efforts and profit level in the cooperative case rather than in the non-cooperative case.
