Experimental study on the accumulative effect of multiple pulses on acceleration sensor

Intentional electromagnetic interference is a serious threat to the safety of electronic devices. Multiple electromagnetic pulses will be coupled and transmitted to electronic devices through the cables.Accumulative effects are generated, which make it easier for damage to occur in the electronic devices. In this article, the working principle of micro-silicon acceleration sensors is introduced. The accumulative effects of multiple pulses on acceleration sensors is studied by a large number of injection experiments.The accumulation trends of multiple pulses with different pulse numbers and intervals are analyzed. The damaged structures inside abnormal sensor amplifiers were observed via optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The experimental results show that the accumulative effect is strengthened with increased pulse number or decreased pulse interval, and the threshold voltage for multiple pulses on the acceleration sensor decreases. The threshold voltage for a single pulse is 321.57 V. When the pulse interval is 1 μs and the pulse number is 5, the threshold voltage for multiple pulses is 163.42 V,which is reduced by 49.12% compared with a single pulse. These results provide a reference for the damage design of electromagnetic pulse weapons.

Thelytokous Diglyphus wani:A more promising biological control agent against agromyzid leafminers than its arrhenotokous counterpart

Diglyphus wani(Hymenoptera:Eulophidae)is a dominant parasitoid that attacks agromyzid leafminers.Two reproductive types occur in D.wani:arrhenotoky(in which virgin females produce only male offspring;and virgin females mate with males to produce bisexual offspring)and thelytoky(in which virgin females produce female offspring).As a potential biological control agent,exploring the differences in the relevant biological parameters of both strains is necessary.In this study,comparisons between the two strains of D.wani were performed by evaluating the life table and host-killing rate.The thelytokous strain exhibited significantly better life table parameters than its arrhenotokous counterpart.Higher values for the intrinsic rate of increase,finite rate of increase,net reproductive rate,and fecundity were found in the thelytokous strain.The thelytokous strain also performed better than the arrhenotokous strain in terms of net parasitism,host-feeding,host-stinging,and total host-killing rates.Thus,populations of the thelytokous strain could grow fast and kill more hosts.In conclusion,the thelytokous strain of D.wani may be the more promising biological agent against agromyzid leafminers compared to its arrhenotokous counterpart.Also,since the thelytokous strain of D.wani is only known to produce females,it should be given priority in future biocontrol applications owing to the cost savings of breeding only females.

The numerous health benefits of olive oil are widely known,however,it also provides anti-allergic properties that have not yet been fully defined.In this study,the anti-allergic activity of olive oil was evaluated by analyzing the clinical symptoms and immune-related factors in BALB/c mice that had ingested600 mg/(kg·day)olive oil for two weeks prior to the evaluation.An allergy model was subsequently constructed for analysis,the results of which showed that the olive oil reduced the scores of allergic symptoms in the mice,and up-regulated the hypothermia and the decline in the immune organ index.Moreover,fewer allergy-related cytokines and reduced intestinal inflammation was discovered in the olive oil-treated group.In addition,analysis of intestinal mucosal immune-related factors revealed that the olive oil promoted the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins(Claudin-1,Occludin,and ZO-1)and IL-22,and helped maintain the integrity of the intestinal epithelial physical barrier.Increased levels of mucin 2 andβ-defensin were also found in the intestinal mucus of the olive oil-treated mice.These findings suggest that the oral administration of olive oil effectively attenuated the ovalbumin-induced allergic immune response in the mice,and had a positive effect on intestinal epithelial mucosal immunity.

Wave energy resources assessment is a very important process before the exploitation and utilization of the wave energy. At present, the existing wave energy assessment is focused on theoretical wave energy conditions for interesting areas. While the evaluation for exploitable wave energy conditions is scarcely ever performed. Generally speaking, the wave energy are non-exploitable under a high sea state and a lower sea state which must be ignored when assessing wave energy. Aiming at this situation, a case study of the East China Sea and the South China Sea is performed. First, a division basis between the theoretical wave energy and the exploitable wave energy is studied. Next, based on recent 20 a ERA-Interim wave field data, some indexes including the spatial and temporal distribution of wave power density, a wave energy exploitable ratio, a wave energy level, a wave energy stability, a total wave energy density, the seasonal variation of the total wave energy and a high sea condition frequency are calculated. And then the theoretical wave energy and the exploitable wave energy are compared each other; the distributions of the exploitable wave energy are assessed and a regional division for exploitable wave energy resources is carried out; the influence of the high sea state is evaluated. The results show that considering collapsing force of the high sea state and the utilization efficiency for wave energy, it is determined that the energy by wave with a significant wave height being not less 1 m or not greater than 4 m is the exploitable wave energy. Compared with the theoretical wave energy, the average wave power density, energy level, total wave energy density and total wave energy of the exploitable wave energy decrease obviously and the stability enhances somewhat. Pronounced differences between the theoretical wave energy and the exploitable wave energy are present. ·AIM:To analyze the efficacy and safety of subthreshold micropulse laser(SML)in the treatment of acute central serous chorioretinopathy(CSC).·METHODS:This is a retrospective case analysis study.Totally 58 eyes of 58 patients were enrolled,and they were divided into different groups.And 39 patients were treated with SML(SML group)and 19 patients were only observed(observation group).The follow-up period was 3mo after diagnosis.The best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central retinal thickness(CRT),superficial retinal vascular density(SRVD),deep retinal vascular density(DRVD),the superficial and deep foveal avascular zone(FAZ)area,retinal light sensitivity(RLS),perfusion area of choroidal capillary layer(CCL),subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT)and fundus autofluorescence(FAF)were investigated.·RESULTS:The BCVA,CRT,SRVD,DRVD,the superficial and deep FAZ area,RLS,SFCT of SML group were significantly improved at 3mo(all P0.05).At the last follow-up,the BCVA and RLS in the SML group were better than those in the observation group,and CRT was lower,SRVD and DRVD,perfusion area of CCL were larger(all P<0.05).On FAF,no change of treatment spots was found after treatment.No structural laser damage was observed on optical coherence tomography(OCT)and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),and no choroidal neovascularization was observed.·CONCLUSION:SML treatment of acute CSC can improve BCVA,RLS,and perfusion area of CCL,reduce CRT,increase SRVD and DRVD,and is safe.

A wave energy resource assessment in the China's seas based on multi-satellite merged radar altimeter data

Wave energy resources are abundant in both offshore and nearshore areas of the China＇s seas. A reliable assessment of the wave energy resources must be performed before they can be exploited. First, for a water depth in offshore waters of China, a parameterized wave power density model that considers the effects of the water depth is introduced to improve the calculating accuracy of the wave power density. Second, wave heights and wind speeds on the surface of the China＇s seas are retrieved from an AVISO multi-satellite altim-eter data set for the period from 2009 to 2013. Three mean wave period inversion models are developed and used to calculate the wave energy period. Third, a practical application value for developing the wave energy is analyzed based on buoy data. Finally, the wave power density is then calculated using the wave field data. Using the distribution of wave power density, the energy level frequency, the time variability indexes, the to-tal wave energy and the distribution of total wave energy density according to a wave state, the offshore wave energy in the China＇s seas is assessed. The results show that the areas of abundant and stable wave energy are primarily located in the north-central part of the South China Sea, the Luzon Strait, southeast of Taiwan in the China＇s seas; the wave power density values in these areas are approximately 14.0–18.5 kW/m. The wave energy in the China’s seas presents obvious seasonal variations and optimal seasons for a wave energy utilization are in winter and autumn. Except for very coastal waters, in other sea areas in the China＇s seas, the energy is primarily from the wave state with 0.5 m≤Hs≤4 m, 4 s≤Te≤10 s whereHs is a significant wave height andTe is an energy period; within this wave state, the wave energy accounts for 80% above of the total wave energy. Background:Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic lifelong disease.The disease extent of UC can progress over time.This study aimed to assess whether cumulative inflammatory burden(CIB)is associated with disease extension in distal UC(proctitis[E1]and left-sided colitis[E2])patients,and to develop a quantified indicator of CIB.Methods:In this retrospective study based on a prospective registry,distal UC patients receiving colonoscopies in Xijing Hospital(Xi’an,China)fromJanuary 2000 to May 2019 were studied.We developed a new score,namely the time-adjusted average Mayo endoscopic score(TA-MES),calculated as dividing the sum of the cumulative averageMES over a period of surveillance time by the length of the endoscopic examination interval,to quantify the CIB.Cox regression was used to identify other potential risk factors.Results:A total of 295 UC patients were followed for 1,487.02 patient-years.Among them,140 patients(47.5%)experienced disease extension.Multivariate analysis showed that the TA-MES was significantly associated with disease extension in E1(hazard ratio[HR],2.90;95%confidence interval[CI],1.58–5.33,P=0.001)and E2(HR,1.89;95%CI,1.16–3.09,P=0.011)patients.Other risk factors included hemoglobin of<90 g/L and appendiceal skip inflammation;the protective factors included age,E2 at diagnosis,former smoking,and 5-aminosalicylic acid dose.Otherwise,MES at diagnosis,maximal MES,and mean MES failed to estimate the risk of disease extension.Conclusion:TA-MES is a good quantified indicator of CIB and is independently associated with increased disease extension in distal UC patients.Whether the dynamic multiple scoring system could be used as a risk factor in other chronic relapsing–remitting diseases is a direction for future research.
