Owing to their exceptional properties, high-entropy alloys(HEAs) and high-entropy materials have emerged as promising research areas and shown diverse applications. Here,the recent advances in the field are comprehensively reviewed,organized into five sections. The first section introduces the background of HEAs, covering their definition, significance,application prospects, basic properties, design principles, and microstructure. The subsequent section focuses on cutting-edge high-entropy structural materials, highlighting developments such as nanostructured alloys, grain boundary engineering,eutectic systems, cryogenic alloys, thin films, micro-nano-lattice structures, additive manufacturing, high entropy metallic glasses, nano-precipitate strengthened alloys, composition modulation, alloy fibers, and refractory systems. In the following section, the emphasis shifts to functional materials, exploring HEAs as catalysts, magneto-caloric materials, corrosion-resistant alloys, radiation-resistant alloys, hydrogen storage systems, and materials for biomedicine. Additionally, the review encompasses functional high-entropy materials outside the realm of alloys, including thermoelectric, quantum dots, nanooxide catalysts, energy storage materials, negative thermal expansion ceramics,and high-entropy wave absorption materials. The paper concludes with an outlook, discussing future directions and potential growth areas in the field. Through this comprehensive review,researchers, engineers, and scientists may gain valuable insights into the recent progress and opportunities for further exploration in the exciting domains of high-entropy alloys and functional materials.

Radioactive iodine element mainly in CH3I is a key fission product of concern in the nuclear fuel cycle,which directly threat-ens human health if released into the *** capture of the I element is essential for human health *** iodine filter,consisting of an activated carbon inner core and cotton filter,is the most common radioactive iodine pro-tection ***,the activated carbon inside the iodine filter suffers from the weak adsorption efficiency and high ***,a process based on a strong alkali activation method was developed to significantly improve iodine absorption and reduce the cost.A series of flexible porous carbon fibers with a high specific surface area(up to about 1,500~2,200 m^(2)/g)were prepared by carbonation of the phenolic resin fibers(PF,prepared through melt spinning and crosslink)followed by activation via KOH ***,the nitrogen-doped sp^(2)-heterogeneous carbon atoms were prepared by add-ing nitrogen sources such as urea which led to a high surface area nano-porous fibers with an average pore size of~2.4 *** nitrogen-doped porous carbon fibers exhibit very high adsorption for liquid iodine and iodine *** liquid iodine adsorption capacity of nitrogen-doped porous carbon NDAC-4 prepared under 800°C reaches 2,120 mg/g,which is 2.1 times higher than that of the commercial iodine filter,and for iodine vapor the capacity can reach 5,330 mg/***,the CH_(3)I adsorption capacity is 510 mg/g,which is 3.4 times higher than that of commercial unmodified viscose fibers and has greater stability and ***,the research has met the requirements of industrial production,and the fabrication of phenolic-fibers-based protection equipment can be widely used in the nuclear radiation industry.

Recent evidence suggests that CD147 serves as a novel receptor for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)*** CD147 via anti-CD147 antibody could suppress the in vitro SARS-CoV-2 *** is a humanized anti-CD147 IgG_(2) monoclonal antibody,which may effectively prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)***,we conducted a randomized,double-blinded,placebo-controlled phase 1 trial to evaluate the safety,tolerability,and pharmacokinetics of meplazumab in healthy subjects,and an open-labeled,concurrent controlled add-on exploratory phase 2 study to determine the efficacy in COVID-19 *** phase 1 study,59 subjects were enrolled and assigned to eight cohorts,and no serious treatment-emergent adverse event(TEAE)or TEAE grade≥3 was *** serum and peripheral blood Cmax and area under the curve showed non-linear pharmacokinetic *** obvious relation between the incidence or titer of positive anti-drug antibody and dosage was observed in each *** biodistribution study indicated that meplazumab reached lung tissue and maintained>14 days stable with the lung tissue/cardiac blood-pool ratio ranging from 0.41 to *** the exploratory phase 2 study,17 COVID-19 patients were enrolled,and 11 hospitalized patients were involved as concurrent *** meplazumab treatment significantly improved the discharged(P=0.005)and case severity(P=0.021),and reduced the time to virus negative(P=0.045)in comparison to the control *** results show a sound safety and tolerance of meplazumab in healthy volunteers and suggest that meplazumab could accelerate the recovery of patients from COVID-19 pneumonia with a favorable safety profile.

Background Maternal smoking during pregnancy may be associated with low birth weight(LBW)in offspring and global risk estimates have not been summarized *** aimed to systematically explore evidence regarding maternal smoking and the LBW risk in offspring globally and examine possible causes of heterogeneity across relevant *** Comprehensive search of PubMed,Ovid Embase,Ovid Medline(R),and Web of science from inception until October 2021 was carried out.A random-effects meta-analysis was used to estimate the pooled odds ratio(OR)and corresponding 95%confidence interval(CI).Restricted cubic spline analysis with three knots was used to further examine the dose-response *** Literature searches yielded 4940 articles,of which 53 met inclusion criteria(comprising 55 independent studies).Maternal smoking during pregnancy was significantly associated with the risk of LBW in offspring(OR=1.89,95%CI=1.80-1.98).furthermore,an obvious dose-response relationship between the amount of cigarettes daily smoked in pregnancy and the risk of LBW in offspring was *** results of subgroup analyses indicated that the risk of maternal smoking on LBW was larger in more recently conducted studies(P=0.020)and longer period of active smoking during pregnancy(P=0.002).No evidence of publication bias was *** In summary,maternal smoking in pregnancy was significantly associated with a higher risk of LBW in offspring on a global *** risk of maternal smoking on infant LBW seems to be increasing over time,and was higher with longer smoking duration throughout pregnancy and more cigarettes smoked daily.

fungi Z4 and Z8, isolated from the heavy metal polluted soil, have strong resistance to Cd and Pb. The strains were identified on the base of their morphology and internal transcribed spacers(ITS) region. Pot experiments were conducted to study the effect of two strains(Z4 and Z8) on the growth and accumulation of Cd and Pb of Guizhou oilseed rape. The results show that strains Z4 and Z8 belong to Mucor circinelloides and Mucor racemosus, respectively. The heights of Guizhou oilseed rape inoculated with strain Z8 increase by 47.90% than the control. The highest fresh mass is found in the plant with Z4/Z8, which is enhanced by160.81%. Pot experiments show that Z4/Z8 inoculums can accelerate accumulation of heavy metals in the plant. The contents of Cd and Pb are increased by 117.60% and 63.48%, respectively. Meanwhile, the heavy metal concentrations in potting soil with the two strains are found to be lower than those of the control, and the concentrations of Cd and Pb are decreased by 60.57% and 27.12%,respectively.
