Estimating high-spatial resolution surface daily longwave radiation from the instantaneous Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)longwave radiation product

In this paper,time extension methods,originally designed for clear-sky land surface conditions,are used to estimate high-spatial resolution surface daily longwave(LW)radiation from the instantaneous Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)longwave radiation product.The performance of four time methods were first tested by using ground based flux measurements that were collected from 141 global sites.Combined with the accuracy of daily LW radiation estimated from the instantaneous GLASS LW radiation,the linear sine interpolation method performs better than the other methods and was employed to estimate the daily LW radiation as follows:The bias/Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)of the linear sine interpolation method were−6.30/15.10 W/m^(2)for the daily longwave upward radiation(LWUP),−1.65/27.63 W/m2 for the daily longwave downward radiation(LWDN),and 4.69/26.42 W/m^(2)for the daily net longwave radiation(LWNR).We found that the lengths of the diurnal cycle of LW radiation are longer than the durations between sunrise and sunset and we proposed increasing the day length by 1.5 h.The accuracies of daily LW radiation were improved after adjusting the day length.The bias/RMSE were−4.15/13.74 W/m2 for the daily LWUP,−1.3/27.52 W/m^(2)for the daily LWDN,and 2.85/25.91 W/m^(2)for the daily LWNR.We are producing long-term surface daily LW radiation values from the GLASS LW radiation product.

Activatable photoacoustic bioprobe for visual detection of aging in vivo

Aging is a natural physiological process with various challenges, related to the loss of homeostasis within the organism, which is not a disease, but a significantly strong risk factor for multiple diseases, including myocardial infarction, stroke, some age-related cancers, macular degeneration, osteoarthritis, neurodegeneration, and many others. In the body, the main manifestation of aging is cellular aging, which exists within tissues and has a local or global impact on tissue function. However, the lack of effective aging detection tools has always been an issue that cannot be ignored in the field of aging research. Therefore,it is necessary to construct a non-invasive tool for in vivo detection of aging. Here, we show that the photoacoustic probe(LGAL), which has peak excitation and emission wavelengths in the near-infrared optical window, binds in vivo and at high contrast to the hallmark of aging, and allows for the microscopic imaging of aging through the intact mice. Firstly, this tool LGAL has been successfully applied to detect senescence in cells, displaying stronger photoacoustic signals than normal cells. Then, by using the photoacoustic probe, the blood vessels and tissues inside the mice can be visualized. Young and elderly mice exhibit varying intensities of photoacoustic signals, marking the first time a probe has been used to explore the aging of blood vessels and tissues inside the mice. Finally, we monitored the changes in the degree of aging during tumor treatment under photoacoustic(PA) imaging for the first time. As the treatment time increased, the degree of aging of the tumor gradually deepened. We expect the powerful tool could be a noninvasive and powerful tool for the study of aging biology.

The deuterodifluoromethyl group CF_(2)D combines the structural features of CF_(3) and CD_(3) groups,finding wide applications in diverse pharmaceutical entities.In this work,the electrochemical monodeuterodefluorination of Ar-CF_(3) to Ar-CF_(2)D is achieved with an unreported deuterium atom transfer-coupled electron transfer pathway using D_(2)O as the only D source for the first time.A series of Ar-CF_(3) substances,including commercial pharmaceuticals,were converted to corresponding CF_(2)D products in up to 91% yield and 97% D-incorporation.A variety of functional groups,including pyridine,pyrrole,furan,thiophene,borate,thio ether,amine,amide,sulfonamide,and halide,are well tolerated in this protocol.t-BuOLi was an essential reagent to achieve chemoselective mono-defluorination.

Background: Various sleep disorders can impair cognitive function.The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of ozone rectal insufflation(O3-RI) on cognitive dysfunction induced by chronic REM sleep deprivation, as well as possible mechanisms.Methods: The mice were subjected to chronic REM sleep deprivation using the platform method.The behavioral experiments evaluated cognitive functions by performing Y-maze, open field test and new object recognition.HE staining was used to observe the hippocampus and colon tissue morphology.Nissl staining was used to evaluate neuronal morphology and neuron number.Immunofluorescence was applied to observe the expression changes of tight junction protein(Occludin) of the blood-brain and intestinal barriers.Western blotting and immunohistochemistry(IHC) were used to verify the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome and IL-1β.The gut microbiota of mice were analyzed by 16S rDNA sequencing.Results: Compared with the Ctrl group, SD reduced short-term working and spatial memory capabilities and showed more anxious behaviors in mice, as evidenced by reduced spontaneous alternation rate, the total arm entries, the entries into the novel arm, and the time spent exploring the novel arm in the Y-maze, reduced average velocity, total distance and center area distance in the open field test, decreased recognition index in the new object recognition experiment.It also showed neuronal necrosis and reduced number of neurons.Meanwhile, SD resulted in decreased Occludin expression and increased NLRP3 and IL-1β expression in both the hippocampus and colon.It also exhibited the enhanced Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio and repressed the Bacteroides relative abundance, which was associated with cognitive deficits and inflammation.In contrast, O3-RI reversed these changes.Conclusions: O3-RI could be an effective intervention strategy to improve Chronic REM Sleep Deprivation-induced cognitive dysfunction by regulating the gut microbiota, restoring the integrity of the blood-brain and intestinal ba

Simulation of vessel tissue remodeling with residual stress:an application to in-stent restenosis

We present a numerical procedure to model the artery wall remodeling stimulated by stenting considering varying degree of residual stresses.This framework sets up biological remodeling with the existence of residual stress.Previous studies suggest that the residual stress originates from the growth and remodeling of the premature tissue.Meanwhile,it is known that tissue remodeling can happen under mechanical loading.However,none of the existing research studies the impact of residual stress on the mechanical-driven growth of biomaterials.To fill this gap,we build a numerical framework that couples the residual stress with a growth model,and examine its impact on tissue remodeling.The proposed approach is applied to in-stent restenosis,where the tissue remodeling process is modeled with finite element method,and the residual stress is generated geometrically using open angle method.The result shows that residual stress reverses the radial distribution of stress concentration,which is ameliorated by tissue remodeling.The thickening of vessel wall tends to increase with residual stress,which links to more severe in-stent restenosis.The results demonstrate the important interplay between residual stress and tissue remodeling.The findings suggest that residual stress should be considered in the future simulation of tissue remodeling.

Detecting coherence with respect to general quantum measurements

Quantum coherence is crucial in quantum resource theory. Previous studies have mainly focused on standard coherence based on a complete orthogonal reference. Standard coherence has recently been extended to general positive-operator-valued measure(POVM)-based coherence, including block coherence as a special case. Therefore, it is necessary to construct block and POVM-based coherence witnesses to detect them. In this study, we present witnesses for block and POVM-based coherence and obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for constructing these witnesses. We also discuss possible realizations of some block and POVM-based coherence witnesses in experiments and present examples of measuring block coherence witnesses based on real experimental data. Furthermore, we present an application of block coherence witnesses in a quantum-parameter estimation task with a degenerate Hamiltonian and estimate the unknown parameter by measuring the block coherence witnesses when the input state is block coherent.Finally, we prove that the quantum Fisher information of any block-incoherent state equals zero, which coincides with the result obtained from measuring block coherence witnesses.

Transition metal-catalyzed carbonylation reactions represent a direct and atom-economical approach to synthesize carbonyl compounds or their derivatives by using CO as a cheap and readily available C1 feedstock.While carbonylation of C(sp^(2))-hybridized electrophiles (e.g.,aryl halides) is well developed,carbonylation of less reactive unactivated alkyl electrophiles remains challenging.Recently,the use of earth-abundant base metals including Cu,Co,Mn,Fe,Ni as catalysts has enabled advances in carbonylative coupling of alkyl electrophiles for approaching diverse carbonyl compounds or their derivatives,notably,some of which are of synthetic importance but difficult to be synthesized through previous reported methods.Herein,we have summarized and discussed these recent achievements in base-metal-catalyzed carbonylative C—C,C—N,C—O,C—X coupling and other carbonylation reactions of unactivated alkyl electrophiles using CO as C1 source.

A generalized incompressable magnetohydrodynamics system is considered in this paper.Furthermore, results of global well-posednenss are established with the aid of Littlewood–Paley decomposition and Fourier localization method in mentioned system with small initial condition in the variable exponent Fourier–Besov–Morrey spaces. Objective:Moxibustion,a common therapy in traditional Chinese medicine,has potential benefits for treating decreased ovarian reserve(DOR).The present study investigates the protective effect of moxibustion in a rat model of DOR and explores the possible mechanisms.Methods:Sixty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups:control,DOR,moxibustion(MOX),and hormone replacement therapy(HRT).The DOR rat model was established by intragastric administration of 50 mg/kg Tripterygium glycoside suspension(TGS),once daily for 14 days.MOX and HRT treatments were given from the day TGS administration was initiated.The ovarian reserve function was evaluated by monitoring the estrus cycle,morphological changes in ovaries,levels of serum estradiol(E2),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),and anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH),pregnancy rate and embryo numbers.Terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nickend-labeling staining was used to identify ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis,while the protein and m RNA expressions of Bax,B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3 K)and protein kinase B(AKT)in ovarian tissues were examined by immunohistochemistry,Western blot and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.Results:Compared with the DOR group,MOX improved the disordered estrous cycle,promoted follicular growth,reduced the number of atresia follicles,increased the concentrations of serum E2 and AMH,and decreased serum FSH and LH concentrations.More importantly,the pregnancy rate and embryo numbers in DOR rats were both upregulated in the MOX treatment group,compared to the untreated DOR model.Further,we found that the MOX group had reduced apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells,increased Bcl-2 expression and reduced expression of Bax.Furthermore,the PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway was triggered by the moxibustion treatment.Conclusion:Moxibustion improved ovarian function and suppressed apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells in a rat model of DOR induced by TG
