Evidence-Based Practice among Critical Care Nurse’s/Midwives in Qatar

Background: Successful implementation of evidence-based research into clinical practice was determined by four core elements, self-belief, the nature and level of evidence, the conductive context into which the study is to be implemented, and organizational factors facilitating the process. Aim: The current study aimed to examine barriers influencing evidence-based practice among critical care nurses in QATAR. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was utilized for the study resulting in data collected from 278 nurses during the period of Feb-2021 to March 2021 using the Barriers to Research Utilization Scale (BTRUS). The BTRUS consisted of data on various information sources utilized by nurses for support in practice, potential barriers for evidence-based practice, and perceived skills on applying research-based evidence. Result: The most significant organizational barriers were lack of time, lack of empowerment to change practice, lack of support from colleagues in implementing research evidence, and lack of access to research articles. Self-perceived barriers were irrelevance of research evidence to current practice, studies having methodological flaws, skepticism about research findings, a large amount of research evidence, and inability to understand statistics. The Nurse’s age, years of nursing practice, academic attainment, and organizational position influenced self-reported barriers and utilization of sources of Evidence. Conclusion: Organizational support, improved self-belief, and evidence-based practice expertise may reduce barriers to implementing research evidence in clinical Practice.

Changes of China’s Status in the Global System and Its Influencing Factors:A Multiple Contact Networks Perspective

Clarifying China’s position in the global system is an important logical basis for developing national diplomacy.Although much research has been done on China’s development status,most studies have been based on country comparisons or institutional en-vironment.In today’s networked era in which the global economy,trade,personnel,and information are closely connected,studies on China’s global position and its status changes and influencing factors in multiple contact networks are still insufficient.In this study,from the perspective of diverse global contact networks,we constructed economic,cultural,and political influence indices to explore the changes and influencing factors on China’s status in the global system from 2005 to 2018.The results show that during the study period,China’s global influence in the fields of economic ties,cultural exchanges,and political contacts increased significantly,but its influ-ence in the fields of cultural exchanges and political contacts lagged far economic ties.The pattern of China’s economic influence on various economies around the world has shown a transformation from an‘upright pyramid’to an‘inverted pyramid’structure.The proportion of these economies in low-influence zones has decreased from more than 60%in 2005 to less than 20%in 2018.China’s cultural and political influence on various economies around the world has increased significantly;however,for the former,the percentage of high-influence areas is still less than 20%,whereas for the latter the percentage of these economies in medium-and high-influence areas is still less than 50%.Analyses such as a scatter plot matrix show that geographical proximity,economic globalization,close cooperation with developing countries,and a proactive and peaceful foreign policy are important factors in improving China’s status in the diverse global network system.

A hybrid spatial-temporal deep learning prediction model of industrial methanol-to-olefins process

Methanol-to-olefins,as a promising non-oil pathway for the synthesis of light olefins,has been successfully industrialized.The accurate prediction of process variables can yield significant benefits for advanced process control and optimization.The challenge of this task is underscored by the failure of traditional methods in capturing the complex characteristics of industrial processes,such as high nonlinearities,dynamics,and data distribution shift caused by diverse operating conditions.In this paper,we propose a novel hybrid spatial-temporal deep learning prediction model to address these issues.Firstly,a unique data normalization technique called reversible instance normalization is employed to solve the problem of different data distributions.Subsequently,convolutional neural network integrated with the self-attention mechanism are utilized to extract the temporal patterns.Meanwhile,a multi-graph convolutional network is leveraged to model the spatial interactions.Afterward,the extracted temporal and spatial features are fused as input into a fully connected neural network to complete the prediction.Finally,the outputs are denormalized to obtain the ultimate results.The monitoring results of the dynamic trends of process variables in an actual industrial methanol-to-olefins process demonstrate that our model not only achieves superior prediction performance but also can reveal complex spatial-temporal relationships using the learned attention matrices and adjacency matrices,making the model more interpretable.Lastly,this model is deployed onto an end-to-end Industrial Internet Platform,which achieves effective practical results.

Despite the rapid advances of red and green perovskite light-emitting diodes(Pe LEDs),achieving high brightness with high external quantum efficiency(EQE)remains a challenge for the pure-blue Pe LEDs,which greatly hinders their practical applications,such as white-light illumination and in optical communication as a high-speed and low-loss light source.Herein,we report a high-performance pure-blue Pe LED based on mixed-halide quasi-2D perovskites incorporated with a zwitterionic molecule of 3-(benzyldimethylammonio)propanesulfonate(3-BAS).Experimental and density functional theory analysis reveals that 3-BAS can simultaneously eliminate non-radiative recombination loss,suppress halide migration,and regulate phase distribution for smoothing energy transfer in the mixed-halide quasi-2D perovskites,leading to the final perovskites with high photoluminescence quantum yield and robust spectrum stability.Thus,the highperformance pure-blue Pe LED with a recorded brightness with 1806 cd m-2and a relative higher EQE of 9.25%is achieved,which is successfully demonstrated in a visible light communication system for voice signal transmission.We pave the way for achieving highly efficient pure-blue Pe LEDs with great application potential in future optical communication networks.

The detrimental effect of imprint,which can cause misreading problem,has hindered the application of ferroelectric HfO_(2).In this work,we present results of a comprehensive reliability evaluation of Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)-based ferroelectric random access memory.The influence of imprint on the retention and endurance is demonstrated.Furthermore,a solution in circuity is pro-posed to effectively solve the misreading problem caused by imprint.

The sudden onset of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in January 2020 has affected essential global health services.Cancer-screening services that can reduce cancer mortality are strongly affected.However,the specific role of COVID-19 in cancer screening is not fully understood.This study aimed to assess the efficiency of global cancer screening programs before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote potential cancer-screening strategies for the next pandemic.Electronic searches in PubMed,Embase,and Web of Science,and manual searches were performed between January 1,2020 and March 1,2023.Cohort studies that reported the number of participants who underwent cancer screening before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were included.The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale.Differences in cancer-screening rates were estimated using the incidence rate ratio(IRR).Fifty-five cohort studies were included in this meta-analysis.The screening rates of colorectal cancer using invasive screening methods(Pooled IRR=0.52,95%CI:0.42 to 0.65,p<0.01),cervical cancer(Pooled IRR=0.56,95%CI:0.47 to 0.67,p<0.01),breast cancer(Pooled IRR=0.57,95%CI:0.49 to 0.66,p<0.01)and prostate cancer(Pooled IRR=0.71,95%CI:0.56 to 0.90,p<0.01)during the COVID-19 pandemic were significantly lower than those before the COVID-19 pandemic.The screening rates of lung cancer(Pooled IRR=0.77,95%CI:0.58 to 1.03,p=0.08)and colorectal cancer using noninvasive screening methods(Pooled IRR=0.74,95%CI:0.50 to 1.09,p=0.13)were reduced with no statistical differences.The subgroup analyses revealed that the reduction in cancer-screening rates varied across economies.Our results suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a noteworthy impact on colorectal,cervical,breast,and prostate cancer screening.Developing innovative cancer-screening technologies is important to promote the efficiency of cancer-screening services in the post-COVID-19 era and prepare for the next pandemic.

Rational design of robust and transparent superrepellent surfaces for long-term marine antifouling

Superhydrophobic surfaces have demonstrated exceptional efficacy in combatting biofouling contaminations of optical devices and equipment in marine applications. However, the fabrication of highly transparent superhydrophobic materials remains a formidable challenge due to the inherent trade-off between surface roughness for superhydrophobicity and optical transparency.Herein, we design a robust and transparent superhydrophobic coating(Si-POSS) embedded silica nanoparticles(200 nm) with fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes(F-POSS) and zinc pyrithione(ZPT). The Si-POSS coating exhibits excellent water repellence toward diverse liquids and optical transmittance exceeding 90% in the visible spectrum. Moreover, the Si-POSS coating sustains long-term anti-bacterial(> 99.11%) and anti-algal effects for over 30 days, accompanied by mechanical,chemical, and thermal stability. This research asserts that the Si-POSS coating with outstanding combined characteristics holds significant potential for marine applications, particularly in self-cleaning and antifouling endeavors.

Methanol,produced from carbon dioxide,natural gas,and biomass,has drawn increasing attention as a promising green carbon feedstock for biomanufacturing due to its sustainable and energy-rich properties.Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)-dependent methanol dehydrogenase(MDH)catalyzes the oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde via NADH generation,providing a highly active C1 intermediate and reducing power for subsequent biosynthesis.However,the unsatisfactory catalytic efficiency and cofactor bias of MDH significantly impede methanol valorization,especially in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADP+)-dependent biosynthesis.Herein,we employed synthetic NADH and NADPH auxotrophic Escherichia coli strains as growth-coupled selection platforms for the directed evolution of MDH from Bacillus stearothermophilus DSM 2334.NADH or NADPH generated by MDH-catalyzed methanol oxidation enabled the growth of synthetic cofactor auxotrophs,establishing a positive correlation between the cell growth rate and MDH activity.Using this principle,MDH mutants exhibiting a 20-fold improvement in catalytic efficiency(kcat/Km)and a 90-fold cofactor specificity switch from NAD+to NADP+without a decrease in specific enzyme activity,were efficiently screened from random and semi-rationally designed libraries.We envision that these mutants will advance methanol valorization and that the synthetic cofactor auxotrophs will serve as versatile selection platforms for the evolution of NAD(P)+-dependent enzymes.

三轴独立转向车辆广泛应用于特种领域,并逐渐向无人化、智能化发展,路径跟踪控制方法是其中的重要研究内容。三轴独立转向车辆相较于传统车辆具有更加复杂的转向行为,因此在路径跟踪控制过程中需要充分的考虑其转向特性带来的影响。针对三轴独立转向无人车辆在路径跟踪过程中的转向控制问题,基于理论力学和轮胎魔术公式建立多自由度模型,对比不同转向模式下横向位移和横摆角变化差异。然后,以实车响应数据作为参考,采用非支配排序遗传算法II(Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II,NSGA-II)优化多自由度模型参数,并通过模型仿真获取数据集。通过BP神经网络(Back-propagation network)制定转向模式切换策略,最终将模式切换策略引入模型预测控制器,仿真试验和实车试验结果表明,三轴独立转向车辆在路径跟踪过程中通过转向模式切换可以有效提高跟踪精度。

现有的中医命名实体识别相关研究较少,基本都是基于中文病例做相关研究,在传统中医编写的病例文本中表现不佳。针对中医案例中命名实体密集且边界模糊难以划分的特点,提出了一种融合词汇增强和预训练模型的中医命名实体识别方法LEBERT-BILSTM-CRF。该方法从词汇增强和预训练模型融合的角度进行优化,将词汇信息输入到BERT模型中进行特征学习,达到划分词类边界和区分词类属性的目的,提高中医医案命名实体识别的精度。实验结果表明,在文中构建的中医病例数据集上针对10个实体进行命名实体识别时,提出的基于LEBERT-BILSTM-CRF的中医案例命名实体识别模型综合准确率、召回率、F1分别为88.69%,87.4%,88.1%,高于BERT-CRF,LEBERT-CRF等常用命名实体识别模型。
