Electrochemical techniques have shown advantages for the removal of low-concentration nitrate.Here,copper oxide nanosheets were grown on self-supporting nickel foam(NF)to prepare electrodes(CuO/NF),which realized the rapid and highly selective conversion of nitrate pollutants in sewage into nontoxic and harmless N_(2).The CuO/NF afforded 100%NO_(3)^(-)removal within 100 min and 99.53%selectivity for N_(2)at-50 mA without producing a lot of by-products(NO_(2)-,NH_(4)^(+),and N_(2)H_(4)).Furthermore,81.8%of NO_(3)^(-)was removed under the given conditions after six experimental repetitions.These results suggest that the cat-alyst has excellent electrochemical stability.The performance of CuO/NF for the electrocatalytic removal of NO_(3)^(-)in simulated wastewater(which contained Cl^(-) and SO_(4)^(2-))was almost unaffected.Because of the high efficiency,high stability,and low cost of CuO/NF,this catalyst is practical for the removal of nitrate for wastewater purification.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED)caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV)is one of the most devastating diseases in the global pig industry due to its high mortality rate in piglets.Maternal vaccines can effectively enhance the gut-mammary gland-secretory IgA axis to boost lactogenic immunity and passive protection of nursing piglets against PEDV challenge.From 2017 to 2021,we collected 882 diarrhea samples from 303 farms in China to investigate the epidemiology of PEDV.The result showed that about 52.15%(158/303)of the farms were positive for PEDV with an overall detection rate of 63.95%(564/882)of the samples.The S1 fragments of S gene from 104 strains were sequenced for the phylogenetic analysis.A total of 71 PEDV strains(68.27%)sequenced in this study were clustered into the predominant G2c subgroup,while the newly-defined G2d strains(9.62%)were identified in three provinces of China.The NH-TA2020 strain of G2c subgroup was isolated and cultured,and its infection to piglets caused watery diarrhea within 24 h,indicating its strong pathogenicity.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 strain to pregnant gilts stimulated high levels of IgA antibody in colostrum.The piglets fed by the gilts above were challenged with NH-TA2020 strain or CH-HeB-RY-2020 strain from G2d subgroup,and the clinical symptoms and virus shedding were significantly reduced compared to the mock group.Our findings suggest that G2c subgroup is the predominant branch circulating in China from 2017 to 2021.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 enhances maternal IgA and lactogenic immune responses,which confer protection against the homologous and emerging G2d PEDV strains challenges in neonates.

LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O_(2)(NCM811),a Ni-rich layered oxide,is a promising cathode material for high-energy density lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,its structural instability,caused by adverse phase transitions and continuous oxygen release,as well as deteriorated interfacial stability due to excessive electrolyte oxidative decomposition,limits its widespread application.To address these issues,a new concept is proposed that surface targeted precise functionalization(STPF)of the NCM811 cathode using a synergistic slurry additive(SSA)approach.This approach involves coating the NCM811 particle surface with 3-aminopropyl dimethoxy methyl silane(3-ADMS),followed by the precise deposition of ascorbic acid via an acid-base interaction.The slurry additives induce the formation of an ultra-thin spinel surface layer and a stable cathode–electrolyte interface(CEI),which enhances the electrochemical kinetics and inhibits crack propagation.The STPF strategy implemented by the SSA approach significantly improves the cyclic stability and rate performance of the NCM811 cathode in both half-cell and full-cell configurations.This work establishes a promising strategy to enhance the structural stability and electrochemical performance of nickel-rich cathodes and provides a feasible route to promote practical applications of high-energy density lithium-ion battery technology.

Previous studies show that the calculated loading effects from global ocean tide models do not match actual measurements of gravity attraction and loading effects in Southeast Asia.In this paper,taking advantage of a unique network of gravity tidal stations all over the Chinese mainland,we compare the observed and modeled tidal loading effects on the basis of the most recent global ocean tide models.The results show that the average efficiencies of the ocean tidal loading correction for O_(1),K_(1),M_(2) are 77%,7 s3%and 59%,respectively.The loading correction efficiencies using recent ocean tidal models are better than the 40 years old Schwiderskis model at coastal stations,but relative worse at stations far from ocean.

The controllable and safe hydrogen storage technologies are widely recognized as the main bottleneck for the accomplishment of sustainable hydrogen energy.Ammonia borane(AB)has regarded as a competitive candidate for chemical hydrogen storage.However,developing efficient yet high-performance catalysts towards hydrogen evolution from AB hydrolysis remains an enormous challenge.Herein,cobalt phosphide nanosheets are synthesized by a facile salt-assisted along with low-temperature phosphidation strategy for simultaneously modulating its morphology and electronic structure,and function as hydrogen evolution photocatalysts.Impressively,the Co_(2)P nanosheets display extraordinary performance with a record high turnover frequency of 44.9 min^(-1),outperforming most of the noble-metal-free catalysts reported to date.This remarkable performance is attributed to its desired nanosheets structure,featuring with high specific surface area,abundant exposed active sites,and short charge diffusion paths.Our findings provide a novel strategy for regulating metal phosphides with desired phase structure and morphology for energy-related applications and beyond.

The possible effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEIs)or angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blockers(ARBs)on COVID-19 disease severity have generated considerable debate.We performed a single-center,retrospective analysis of hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients in Wuhan,China,who had definite clinical outcome(dead or discharged)by February 15,2020.Patients on anti-hypertensive treatment with or without ACEI/ARB were compared on their clinical characteristics and outcomes.The medical records from 702 patients were screened.Among the 101 patients with a history of hypertension and taking at least one anti-hypertensive medication,40 patients were receiving ACEI/ARB as part of their regimen,and 61 patients were on antihypertensive medication other than ACEI/ARB.We observed no statistically significant differences in percentages of in-hospital mortality(28%vs.34%,P=0.46),ICU admission(20%vs.28%,P=0.37)or invasive mechanical ventilation(18%vs.26%,P=0.31)between patients with or without ACEI/ARB treatment.Further multivariable adjustment of age and gender did not provide evidence for a significant association between ACEI/ARB treatment and severe COVID-19 outcomes.Our findings confirm the lack of an association between chronic receipt of reninangiotensin system antagonists and severe outcomes of COVID-19.Patients should continue previous antihypertensive therapy until further evidence is available.

Mitochondrion-processed TERC regulates senescence without affecting telomerase activities

Mitochondrial dysfunctions play major roles in ageing.How mitochondrial stresses invoke downstream responses and how specificity of the signaling is achieved, however, remains unclear. We have previously discovered that the RNA component of Telomerase TERC is imported into mitochondria, processed to a shorter form TERC-53, and then exported back to the cytosol. Cytosolic TERC-53 levels respond to mitochondrial functions, but have no direct effect on these functions, suggesting that cytosolic TERC-53 functions downstream of mitochondria as a signal of mitochondrial functions. Here, we show that cytosolic TERC-53 plays a regulatory role on cellular senescence and is involved in cognition decline in 10 months old mice, independent of its telomerase function. Manipulation of cytosolic TERC-53 levels affects cellular senescence and cognition decline in 10 months old mouse hippocampi without affecting telomerase activity, and most importantly, affects cellular senescence in terc^-/- cells. These findings uncover a senescence-related regulatory pathway with a non-coding RNA as the signal in mammals.

Background:The impact of corticosteroids on humoral responses in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)sur-vivors during the acute phase and subsequent 6-month period remains unknown.This study aimed to determine how the use of corticosteroids influences the initiation and duration of humoral responses in COVID-19 survivors 6 months after infection onset.Methods:We used kinetic antibody data from the lopinavir-ritonavir trial conducted at Jin Yin-Tan Hospital in January 2020,which involved adults hospitalized with severe COVID-19(LOTUS,ChiCTR2000029308).Anti-body samples were collected from 192 patients during hospitalization,and kinetic antibodies were monitored at all available time points after recruitment.Additionally,plasma samples were collected from 101 COVID-19 survivors for comprehensive humoral immune measurement at the half-year follow-up visit.The main focus was comparing the humoral responses between patients treated with systemic corticosteroid therapy and the non-corticosteroid group.Results:From illness onset to day 30,the median antibody titre areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUCs)of nucleoprotein(N),spike protein(S),and receptor-binding domain(RBD)immunoglobulin G(IgG)were significantly lower in the corticosteroids group.The AUCs of N-,S-,and RBD-IgM as well as neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)were numerically lower in the corticosteroids group compared with the non-corticosteroid group.However,peak titres of N,S,RBD-IgM and-IgG and NAbs were not influenced by corticosteroids.During 6-month follow-up,we observed a delayed decline for most binding antibodies,except N-IgM(𝛽−0.05,95%CI[−0.10,0.00])in the corticosteroids group,though not reaching statistical significance.No significant difference was observed for NAbs.However,for the half-year seropositive rate,corticosteroids significantly accelerated the decay of IgA and IgM but made no difference to N-,S-,and RBD-IgG or NAbs.Additionally,corticosteroids group showed a trend towards delayed viral clearance compared with the non-cort

以聚碳酸酯为研究对象,使用铝膜作为中间传导层,选用高斯面热源模型,建立了金属薄膜热应力理论模型和有限元模型,应用COMSOL软件对含有铝膜中间层的聚碳酸酯激光透射焊接过程进行数值模拟.首先分析焊接过程中焊缝不同位置处的形变和不同方向的体应变张量.然后根据模拟出的等效应力云图和主应力云图,分析焊接过程中的应力大小及分布.结果表明,离激光中心越近,体应变张量越大,形变越大;铝膜与聚碳酸酯间隙交界处等效应力最大,并且中心点应力随时间先增大后减小,最后趋于稳定.运用拉伸机进行拉伸试验,将试验结果与模拟结果进行对比,发现铝膜与聚碳酸酯间隙交界处产生脆性断裂,断裂处与应力集中处相同,结果表明两者之间有良好的一致性.
