A comparison of deformation, microstructure, mechanical properties and formability of SUS436L stainless steel in tandem and reversible cold rolling processes

A comparison was made for the deformation, microstructure, mechanical properties and formability of SUS436L stainless steel in tandem and reversible cold rolling processes. At first, the thermophysical parameters and stress-strain curves of SUS436L steel were measured in temperature range of 293-573 K and a flow stress model was regressed from the data of these curves. An analytical model based on the elasto-plastic finite element method was then established to simulate the tandem and the reversible cold rolling processes of SUS436L stainless steel strip where the flow stress model was introduced. The difference in shear strain distribution, microstructure, mechanical properties and formability of SUS436L steel strip in the two rolling processes was analyzed. The results showed that the larger shear strain, the enhanced intensity of γ fiber texture and the excellent formability of the strip can be easily obtained in the tandem rolling process with the larger work roll rather than the reversible rolling process with the smaller work roll.

In this study, neutral salt spray accelerated corrosion test of copper–aluminium composite under 0–125 A DC current was carried out under 5% concentration. The effect of corrosion behaviour on copper–aluminium composite by DC current was carried out by a scanning electron microscope(SEM) with energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), weight-loss method and electrochemical analysis. The results show that the current can accelerate the corrosion rate. Meanwhile, the current temperature effect can reduce the corrosion rate. The current caused directional migration of ions resulting in different corrosion products on positive and negative poles of specimen, and the corrosion degree on the positive pole was more serious. The galvanic corrosion mechanism at the copper–aluminium interface is different from the pitting corrosion mechanism far away from the interface, and the latter is more affected by DC current.

The microstructure evolution and its effect on flow stress of TC17 alloy during deformation in the α+β two-phase region were investigated via microstructure characterization and isothermal compression tests. Results showed that the spheroidized rate of α phase at 820 and 850℃ slightly increased with increasing strain. With increasing deformation temperature, the spheroidized rate of α phase showed a slight increasing trend, but the volume fraction of α phase significantly decreased. The flow stress at 780 ℃ and 1 s^-1 decreased continuously and steady state condition was not achieved up to strain of 1.2 due to dislocation annihilation and α lamellae rotation. Under this condition, the dynamic spheroidization was retarded. At the deformation temperatures of 820 and 850℃, and a strain rate of 1 s^-1, a steady state flow stress was observed at strains above 0.8 due to the balance between work hardening and dynamic softening. The dynamic softening was attributed to the α lamellae rotation, dynamic recovery and a little spheroidization.

Transition metal phosphides(TMPs)are recognized as such promising supercapacitor materials for the practical application,due to their superior electrical conductivity and excellent redox ***,self-supported three-dimensional NiCoP nanoparticles embedded in NiCoO2 nano wires(NiCoO2/NiCoP)electrode consisting of nickel cobalt phosphides(NiCoP)with high activity and nickel cobalt oxides(NiCoO2)with good stability were fabricated by a hydrothermal and phosphorization *** electrode integrates the advantages of nanowire arrays for fast ion transport and foam Ni for effective charge transport and *** the proper composition control of the nanohybrid and unique structure design,the optimized NiCoO2/NiCoP-20 exhibits a high specific capacitance of 3204 F·g-1 at 1 A·g-1 in 3 mol·L-1 KOH aqueous electrolyte in a three-electrode ***,the asymmetric supercapacitor assembled with the prepared NiCoO2/NiCoP-20 and activated carbon achieves a specific capacitance of 116 F·g-1 with a high energy density of 40.32 Wh·kg-1 at the power density of 800.18 W·*** practical application is further demonstrated with all-solid-state winding supercapacitor devices,with decent flexibility,in series to light the Central South University(CSU)logo consisting of 21 red LED indicators.

Geothermal data analysis at the high-temperature hydrothermal area in Western Sichuan

The western Sichuan hydrothermal area is located at the northeastern margin of the eastern syntaxis of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is also the eastern end of the Mediterranean-Himalayan geothermal activity zone. There are 248 warm or hot springs in this area, and 11 have temperatures beyond the local boiling temperature. Most of these hot springs are distributed along the Jinshajiang, Dege-Xiangcheng, Ganzi-Litang, and Xianshuihe faults, forming a NW-SE hydrothermal belt. A geothermal analysis of this high-temperature hydrothermal area is an important basis for understanding the deep geodynamic process of the eastern syntaxis of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In addition, this study offers an a priori view to utilize geothermal resources, which is important in both scientific research and application. We use gravity, magnetic, seismic, and helium isotope data to analyze the crust-mantle heat flow ratio and deep geothermal structure. The results show that the background terrestrial heat flow descends from southwest to northeast. The crustal heat ratio is not more than 60%. The high temperature hydrothermal active is related to crustal dynamics processes. Along the Batang-Litang-Kangding line, the Moho depth increases eastward, which is consistent with the changing Qc/Qm(crustal/mantle heat flow) ratio trend. The geoid in the hydrothermal zone is 4–6 km higher than the surroundings, forming a local "platform". The NW-SE striking local tensile stress zone and uplift structure in the upper and middle crust corresponds with the surface hydrothermal active zone. There is an average Curie Point Depth(CPD) of 19.5–22.5 km in Batang, Litang, and Kangding. The local shear-wave(S-wave) velocity is relatively low in the middle and lower crust. The S-wave shows a low velocity trap(Vs<3.2 km s.1) at 15–30 km, which is considered a high-temperature partial melting magma, the crustal source of the hydrothermal active zone. Reduction of hematite pellets using H2-CO mixtures with a wide range of H2/CO by molar （1：0, 3：1, 1：1, 1：3, and 0：1） at different reducing temperatures （1073, 1173, and 1273 K） was conducted in a program reducing furnace. Based on an unreacted core model, the effective diffusion coefficient and reaction rate constant in several cases were determined, and then the rate-control step and transition were analyzed. In the results, the effective diffusion coefficient and reaction rate constant increase with the rise in temperature or hydrogen content. Reduction of iron oxide pellets using an H2-CO mixture is a compound control system; the reaction rate is dominated by chemical reaction at the very beginning, competition during the reduction process subsequently, and internal gas diffusion at the end. At low hydrogen content, increasing temperature takes the transition point of the rate-control step to a high reduction degree, but at high hydrogen content, the effect of temperature on the transition point weakens.
