Will polycentric cities cause more CO2 emissions? A case study of 232 Chinese cities

From 2000 to 2010 China experienced rapid economic development and *** cities in economically developed areas have developed from a single-center status to *** this study,we used exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) to identify the population centers,which identified 232 cities in China as having urban *** was used to represent urban agglomeration,and POLYD (representing how far is the city’s sub-centers to the main center),POLYC (representing the number of a city’s centers),and POLYP (representing the population distributed between the main center and the sub-centers) were used to indicate urban *** light data were used to determine the CO2 emissions from various cities in China.A mixed model was used to study the impact of urban aggregation and polycentric data on the CO2 emission efficiency in 2000 and *** study found that cities with higher compactness were distributed in coastal areas,and the cities with higher multicentricity were distributed in the Yangtze River Delta and Shandong *** more compact the city was,the less conducive it was to improving CO2 emission *** development of the city was conducive to improving the CO2 emission efficiency,but the number of urban centers had no significant relationship with the CO2 emission *** research showed that the compactness and multicentricity of the city had an impact on the CO2 emission efficiency and provided some planning suggestions for the low carbon development of the city.

The mechanism responsible for the formation of recrystallization texture in cold-rolled Ti bearing interstitial free （IF） steel sheets was investigated using electron back-scatter diffraction （EBSD）. In addition, the origin of nuclei with specific orientations was studied. The formation of recrystallization texture was explained by oriented nucleation. Most nuclei have a high misorientation angle of 25-55° with the surrounding deformed matrices, but no specific orientation of misorientation axis between the nucleus and the surrounding deformed matrix is observed. The stored energy of deformed grains is in the decreasing order of the {111}〈112〉,{111}〈110〉, {112}〈110〉 and {001}〈110〉 orientations. New {111}〈110〉 grains are nucleated within deformed {111}〈112〉 grains and new {111}〈112〉 grains originate in the deformed {111}〈110〉 grains.

By using high temperature optical microscopy,oxidation behaviors of poly-and single crystalline NbSi_(2) were observed in-situ at 1023 *** effects of micro-cracks,porosity and grain boundary on the oxidation behavior of NbSi_(2) have been *** results indicate that new cracks initiate and extend from the pre-existing cracking areas in the arc-melted poly-crystalline specimen,leading to fragmentation after 220 min at 1023 ***,although pores and grain boundary are the preferential oxidation site,they do not directly lead to fragmentation during oxidation,indicating that the pre-existing cracks in specimen are the key reason to *** oxidation kinetics of the studied NbSi_(2) specimens corresponds well with the in-situ observation.

Two novel non-fullerene small molecule acceptors were prepared with the conjugated backbone of 5 H-fluoreno[3, 2-b:6, 7-b’] dithiophene carrying the electron deficient unit of dicyanomethylene indanone(DICTFDT) and rhodanine(TFDTBR), respectively. The two acceptors exhibited excellent thermal stability and strong absorption in the visible region. The LUMO level is estimated to be at-3.89 eV for DICTFDT and-3.77 eV for TFDTBR. When utilized as the acceptor in bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells with the polymer donor of PBT7-Th, the optimized maximum power conversion efficiency of 5.12% and 3.95% was obtained for the device with DICTFDT and TFDTBR, respectively. The research demonstrates that 5 H-fluoreno[3, 2-b:6, 7-b’] dithiophene can be an appealing candidate for constructing small molecular electron acceptor towards efficient polymer:non-fullerene bulk heterojunction solar cells.

As natural ecosystems provide the material basis and fundamental support for regional sustainable devel-opment,the sustainability of natural ecosystems is an important prerequisite and a viable approach for the achievement of regional sustainable *** is also the final criteria to assess whether sustainable development paradigm is *** with the increasing impacts of human activities on natural ecosystems,the evaluation of regional ecological sustainability has become one of the key issues for research on macro ecology and sustainable *** on different unit of indicators,this study firstly groups the evaluation frameworks of regional ecological sus-tainability into three major types:comprehensive index evaluation with dimensionless unit,monetary valuation,and biophysical quantity *** then discuss and compare these types in terms of basic principles,scope of ap-plications,advantages and ***,drawn on the discussion about characteristics of ecological sustain-ability,we outline the current trend and future directions of regional ecological sustainability evaluation,for instance,transition from sustainable development evaluation to sustainability science,integration of goal-oriented and problem-solving approaches,combination of spatial pattern analysis and ecological sustainability evaluation,and en-hancement of ecological sustainability evaluation at landscape scale.

Through a case study of Shenzhen City,China,this study focused on a quantitative method for analyzing the spatial processes involved in green infrastructure changes associated with rapid *** on RS,GIS and SPSS statistics software,the approach includes selection of the square analysis units and representative landscape metrics,quantification of the change types of landscape metrics in all analysis units through two indices and hierarchical cluster analysis of the above analysis units with different landscape metric change types(*** attributes).The analyses verify that there is a significant sequence of continuous changes in green infrastructure in *** are the perforation,the segmentation,the fragmentation,the evanescence and the filling-in processes,which have a good spatio-temporal correspondence with urbanization and reflect the synthetic influence of urban planning,government policies and *** with other studies on quantifying the spatial pattern,this study provides an alternative probe into linking the spatial pattern to spatial processes and the corresponding ecological processes in the *** spatio-temporal processes offer many opportunities for identifying,protecting and restoring key elements in an urban green infrastructure network for areas in the early stages of urbanization or for non-urbanized areas.

Topological order is a new quantum phase that is beyond Landau' s symmetry-bre aking *** defining features include robust degenerate ground states,long-range entanglement and *** was known that R and F matrices,which characterize the fusion-braiding properties of anyons,can be used to uniquely identify topological *** this article,we explore an essential question:how can the R and F matrices be experimentally measured?We show that the braidings,*** R matrices,can be completely determined by the half braidings of boundary excitations due to the boundary-bulk duality and the anyon *** F matrices can also be measured by comparing the quantum states involving the fusion of three anyons in two different *** we provide a model-independent experimental protocol to uniquely identify topological *** using quantum simulations based on a toric code model with boundaries encoded in three-and four-qubit systems and state-of-the-art technology,we obtain the first experimental measurement of R and F matrices by means of an NMR quantum computer at room temperature.

There are many new and potential drug targets in G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs)without sufficient ligand associations,and accurately predicting and interpreting ligand bioactivities is vital for screening and optimizing hit compounds targeting these *** efficiently address the lack of labeled training samples,we proposed a multi-task regression learning with incoherent sparse and low-rank patterns(MTR-ISLR)to model ligand bioactivities and identify their key substructures associated with these GPCRs *** is,MTR-ISLR intends to enhance the performance and interpretability of models under a small size of available training data by introducing homologous GPCR ***,the low-rank constraint term encourages to catch the underlying relationship among homologous GPCR tasks for greater model generalization,and the entry-wise sparse regularization term ensures to recognize essential discriminative substructures from each task for explanative *** examined MTR-ISLR on a set of 31 important human GPCRs datasets from 9 subfamilies,each with less than 400 ligand *** results show that MTR-ISLR reaches better performance when compared with traditional single-task learning,deep multi-task learning and multi-task learning with joint feature learning-based models on most cases,where MTR-ISLR obtains an average improvement of 7%in correlation coefficient(r2)and 12%in root mean square error(RMSE)against the runner-up *** MTR-ISLR web server appends freely all source codes and data for academic usages.^(1))
