Patent-based technological developments and surfactants application of lithium-ion batteries fire-extinguishing agent

While newer,more efficient Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and extinguishing agents have been developed to reduce the occurrence of thermal runaway accidents,there is still a scarcity of research focused on the application of surfactants in different LIBs extinguishing agents,particularly in terms of patented technologies.The aim of this review paper is to provide an overview of the technological progress of LIBs and LIBs extinguishing agents in terms of patents in Korea,Japan,Europe,the United States,China,etc.The initial part of this review paper is sort out LIBs technology development in different regions.In addition,to compare LIBs extinguishing agent progress and challenges of liquid,solid,combination of multiple,and microencapsulated.The subsequent section of this review focuses on an in-depth analysis dedicated to the efficiency and challenges faced by the surfactants corresponding design principles of LIBs extinguishing agents,such as nonionic and anionic surfactants.A total of 451,760 LIBs-related patent and 20 LIBs-fire-extinguishing agent-related patent were included in the analyses.The extinguishing effect,cooling performance,and anti-recombustion on different agents have been highlighted.After a comprehensive comparison of these agents,this review suggests that temperature-sensitive hydrogel extinguishing agent is ideal for the effective control of LIBs fire.The progress and challenges of surfactants have been extensively examined,focusing on key factors such as surface activity,thermal stability,foaming properties,environmental friendliness,and electrical conductivity.Moreover,it is crucial to emphasize that the selection of a suitable surfactant must align with the extinguishing strategy of the extinguishing agent for optimal firefighting effectiveness.

Automation in road distress detection,diagnosis and treatment

Road transportation plays a crucial role in society and daily life,as the functioning and durability of roads can significantly impact a nation's economic development.In the whole life cycle of the road,the emergence of disease is unavoidable,so it is necessary to adopt relevant technical means to deal with the disease.This study comprehensively reviews the advancements in computer vision,artificial intelligence,and mobile robotics in the road domain and examines their progress and applications in road detection,diagnosis,and treatment,especially asphalt roads.Specifically,it analyzes the research progress in detecting and diagnosing surface and internal road distress and related techniques and algorithms are compared.In addition,also introduces various road gover-nance technologies,including automated repairs,intelligent construction,and path planning for crack sealing.Despite their proven effectiveness in detecting road distress,analyzing diagnoses,and planning maintenance,these technologies still confront challenges in data collection,parameter optimization,model portability,system accuracy,robustness,and real-time performance.Consequently,the integration of multidisciplinary technologies is imperative to enable the development of an integrated approach that includes road detection,diagnosis,and treatment.This paper addresses the challenges of precise defect detection,condition assessment,and unmanned construction.At the same time,the efficiency of labor liberation and road maintenance is achieved,and the automation level of the road engineering industry is improved.

Owing to the function of manipulating light absorption distribution,tandem organic solar cells containing multiple sub-cells exhibit high power conversion efficiencies.However,there is a substantial challenge in precisely controlling the inter-subcells carrier migration which determines the balance of charge transport across the entire device.The conductivity of"nanowires"-like conducting channel in interconnecting layer between sub-cells should be improved which calls for fine engineering on the morphology of polyelectrolyte in interconnecting layer.Here,we develop a simple method to effectively manipulating the domains of conductive components in commercially available polyelectrolyte PEDOT:PSs.The use of poor solvent could effectively modify the configuration of polystyrene sulfonic acid and thus the space for conductive components.Based on our strategy,the insulated shells wrapping conductive domains are thinned and the efficiencies of tandem organic solar cells are improved.We believe our method might provide guidance for the manufacture of tandem organic solar cells.

Halogenated thiophene substitutions on quinoxaline unit to achieve morphology optimization in efficient organic solar cells

Halogenated thiophenes are generally used units for constructing organic semiconductor materials for photovoltaic applications.Here,we introduced thiophene,2-bromothiophene,and 2-chlorothiophene units to the central core of quinoxaline-based acceptors and obtained three acceptors,Qx-H,Qx-Br,and Qx-Cl,respectively.Compared with Qx-H,Qx-Br and Qx-Cl showed enhanced absorption,down-shifted energy levels,improved crystallinity,and reduced energy disorder.The improved crystallinity significantly optimized the blend morphology,leading to efficient charge generation and transport and,therefore,less bimolecular recombination.Eventually,PM6:Qx-Br-based devices exhibited an outstanding power conversion efficiency of 17.42%with a high open-circuit voltage(VOC)of 0.915 V.Furthermore,Y6 was introduced into the PM6:Qx-Br binary system to improve the light utilization,and the resulting ternary devices delivered a high PCE of 18.36%.This study demonstrated the great potential of halogenated thiophene substitution in quinoxaline-based acceptors for building high-performance organic solar cell acceptor materials.

Pilot Test of Preparing 2-Alkylanthraquinone Using Alkylation-Oxidation Technology

To expedite the development of industrial technology for producing 2-alkylanthraquinone,a novel pilot test of alkylation-oxidation technology was conducted.The process mainly included anthracene alkylation,separation of anthracene and 2-alkylanthracene,oxidation of 2-alkylanthracene,and product purification.Optimal alkylation conditions yielded a 91.1%conversion of anthracene and a 71.73%selectivity for 2-alkylanthracene.To address the separation problem of anthracene and 2-alkylanthracene,solvent-assisted distillation technology was developed,resulting in a 98.9%purity of 2-alkylanthracene and a 91.82%separation yield.When the molar ratio of H2O_(2) to 2-alkylanthracene was 7:1,a 98.96%conversion of 2-alkylanthracene and a 99.94%selectivity for 2-alkylanthraquinone were achieved.A novel composition of 2-alkylanthraquinone,including 2-tert-butylanthraquinone,2-tert-amylanthraquinone,and 2-hexylanthraquinone,was developed.This composition could be effectively separated and purified through a combination of crystallization and washing processes.The elemental composition of the product met the existing standards,and its hydrogenation performance closely matched that of commercially available 2-tert-amylanthraquinone products.

Nanostructure photodetectors,as the core component of optoelectronic devices,are mainly focused on the precise preparation of mixed-component nano-heterostructures and the realization of zero power consumption devices.Herein,we successfully fabricated n-GaN/p-ZnTe core/shell nanopillar array and realized self-power ultraviolet/violet photodetection.The radial heterojunction nanodevice reveals high light-dark current ratio of 104 at 0 V bias,indicating effective carriers’separation.And more,by integrating plasmonic effect,the responsivity and detectivity of the Au nanoparticles decorated device are increased from 3.85 to 148.83 mA/W and 4.45×1011 to 2.33×1012 Jones under 325 nm UV light irradiation.While the rise and the fall time are decreased 1.3 times and 6.8 times under 520 nm visible light irradiation at 0 V bias.The high photocurrent gain is derived from that the oscillating high-energy hot electrons in Au nanoparticles spontaneously inject into the ZnTe conduction band to involve the photodetection process.This work presents an effective route to prepare high-performance self-power photodetector and provides a promising blueprint to realize different functional photoelectronic devices based on core/shell nanostructure.

Slot-die coated large-area flexible all-polymer solar cells by nonhalogenated solvent

The slot-die coating is recognized as the most compatible method for the roll-to-roll(R2R)processing of large-area flexible organic solar cells(OSCs).However,the photovoltaic performance of the large-area flexible all-polymer solar cells was significantly lagging behind that of polymer donors with small molecule non-fullerene acceptors devices.In this work,the 1 cm^(2) flexible device of an all-polymer system,PTQ10:PYF-T-o,fabricated by slot-die coating,achieves an excellent efficiency of 11.24%via controlling the coating temperatures.It is found that,compared with the donor,the crystallinity of PYF-T-o plays a crucial role in device performance.The all-polymer flexible devices show superior mechanical bending stability,maintaining an efficiency of over 95%of the initial value during a 1000-cycle bending test.

Conjugation expansion strategy enables highly stable all-polymer solar cells

The stability issue is one of the key factors hindering the commercial application of organic solar cells.All-polymer organic solar cell is one of the effective ways to solve the stability problem.In this work,we designed and synthesized two polymer donor materials PBDT and PDTBDT with different conjugation ranges,and demonstrated for the first time that extending the conjugation range of donor materials in all polymer solar cells can significantly improve device efficiency and stability.The experimental results of materials and devices show that PDTBDT with a larger conjugation range has stronger crystallinity and a more planar structure,which endows the active layer in its corresponding device with higher exciton dissociation probability,lower carrier recombination probability,more balanced charge transport properties and more favorable film morphology.As a result,the PDTBDT:PYF-T-o devices display an outstanding PCE of 13.38%,which is much higher than PBDT with smaller conjugation range based devices.Moreover,the PDTBDT:PYF-T-o device retains 0.86 of the initial PCE after over 500 h in the air atmosphere,exhibiting significantly improved stability.The improved stability is attributed to the enhanced moisture and air tolerance of active layer film thanks to the strong crystallinity of the donor material.These results demonstrate that the conjugation expansion strategy is one of the effective ways to obtain efficient and stable all-polymer organic solar cells.

Response of atmospheric circulation to multiscale SST anomaly associated with Kuroshio Extension decadal variability warming in winter

The response of atmospheric circulation to sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA)of different scales in extratropical oceans has always been a popular issue in air-sea interactions,especially regarding the influence of widely active,small-scale ocean eddies on the atmosphere.Based on the regional climate model RegCM4.6,three sets of ensemble experiments with different initial values were designed,and the response of atmospheric circulation and possible mechanisms to Kuroshio Extension Decadal Variability SSTA with different scales(KEDV-induced SSTA)during winter were discussed.The response of atmospheric circulation to the KEDV-induced mesoscale SSTA presents a broadly tripolar pattern,while the response to the KEDV-induced large-scale SSTA presents a baroclinic structure in the central Pacific and a dipole-type response with a barotropic structure in the eastern Pacific.Further diagnostic analysis shows that under the influence of mesoscale SSTA,transient eddy activity is strengthened,and feedback of transient eddy plays a major role in the large-scale circulation anomaly in the central-eastern Pacific.The associated barotropic energy conversion also plays an important role in maintaining the largescale circulation anomaly in the northwestern Pacific Ocean.Under the influence of large-scale SSTA,diabatic heating is stronger,and the feedback of diabatic heating plays a major role in the large-scale circulation anomaly.

The Key Role of Subtle Substitution for a High-Performance Ester-Modified Oligothiophene-Based Polymer Used in Photovoltaic Cells

In organic solar cells (OSCs), developing high-performing easily synthesized photoactive materials is essential for pursuing cost- effective balance. Herein, we have designed and synthesized a pair of wide-band-gap polymers (PBDE4T-0F and PBDE4T-2F), using the low synthesis cost dicarboxylic ester-substituted quaterthiophene as the building block. Despite the minor change of molecular structure for polymer PBDE4T-xF, the fluorine substituent in polymer PBDE4T-2F greatly enhances its interchain aggregation. The higher aggregation tendency of ester-modified polymer in solution is beneficial for reducing both the aggregate size and π-π stacking distance of blend film, which contribute to the highly efficient exciton dissociation and symmetric charge transport. An impressive power-conversion efficiency (PCE) of 16.1% is achieved for the PBDE4T-2F:BTP-eC9-based device, while its counterpart only delivers a PCE of 5.8% with distinctly lower short-circuit current density (J_(sc)) and fill factor. Notably, the aggregation effect of donor polymer has also been found to be associated with the energy level shifts, and thus the variation of charge transfer energy and voltage losses for blend system. The results suggest that simultaneously reduced voltage loss and increased J_(sc) can be expected by further finely tuning the aggregation behavior of the ester-modified oligothiophene-based donor polymer.
