Machine learning and tectonic setting determination:Bridging the gap between Earth scientists and data scientists

Technological progress and the rapid increase in geochemical data often create bottlenecks in many studies,because current methods are designed using limited number of data and cannot handle large *** geoscience,tectonic discrimination illustrates this issue,using geochemical analyses to define tectonic settings when most of the geological record is missing,which is the case for most of the older portion of the Earth’s *** are the primary target for tectonic discrimination because they are volcanic rocks found within all tectonic settings,and their chemical compositions can be an effective way to understand tectonics-related mantle ***,the classical geochemical discriminant methods have limitations as they are based on a limited number of 2 or 3-dimensional diagrams and need successive and subjective steps that often offers non-unique ***,weathering,erosion,and orogenic processes can modify the chemical composition of basalts and eliminate or obscure other complementary geotectonic *** address those limitations,supervised machine learning techniques(a part of artificial intelligence)are being utilized more often as a tool to analyze multidimensional datasets and statistically process data to tackle big data *** contribution starts by reviewing the current state of tectonic discrimination methods using supervised machine *** learning,especially Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)is the most accurate ***,it requires a large dataset and considerable processing time,and the gain of accuracy can be at the expense of ***,this study designed guidelines for data pre-processing,tectonic setting classification and objectively evaluating the model *** also identify research gaps and propose potential directions for the application of supervised machine learning to tectonic discrimination research,aimed at closing the divide between earth scientists and data scie

Experimental study of the blockage boundary for dense-phase pneumatic conveying of powders through a horizontal slit

The estimation of the blockage boundary for pneumatic conveying through a slit is of significant importance. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics for blockage of powder （48 gLm average diameter） through a horizontal slit （1.6 m × 0.05 m × 0.002 m）. The results show that the required critical solid mass flow rate increases as the superficial air velocity increases superficial air velocity. The solid loading ratio and superficial air velocity displayed a decreasing power law relationship. This finding agrees with existing theory and experimental results. However, a minimum inlet solid loading ratio exists. When the air velocity is greater than the corresponding air velocity of the minimum solid loading ratio, the solid loading ratio exhibits an increasing trend in power law. We also found that when the inlet conveying pressure increased, the critical solid mass flow rate required for blockage, the inlet solid loading ratio, and the minimum inlet solid loading ratio increased.

Model Test of Deformation Evolution and Multi Factor Prediction of Anchorage Slope Stability under Rainfall Condition

The stability of the anchorage slope on the Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge in Yichang,China,was investigated under different rainfall conditions using model test,numerical simulation,and factor *** results of the study are as follows:(1)with the increase of rainfall intensity,the change of earth pressure can be divided into three ***,when the rainfall intensity was larger than a certain value,the change of earth pressure of cut slope became two stages;with the increase of rainfall intensity,pore water pressure increased with the increase of rainfall time,while at a certain stage after the rainfall,the pore water pressure in the cut slope did not decrease immediately,but increased for a period of time.(2)When the rainfall stopped,the stability coefficient of the anchorage slope continued to decrease,then slowly increased,and finally tended to be ***,when the rainstorm reached a certain intensity,the main factor that restricted the rainfall infiltration rate became the geotechnical permeability coefficient of the cut slope,which was no longer the rainfall intensity.(3)Factor analysis shows that the rainfall intensity and rainfall duration were the most important factors for anchorage slope stability,while earth pressure,pore water pressure and slope displacement were much less significant.

Non-breeding movements of the Black-tailed Gull(Larus crassirostris)

With the continued development of tracking technology and increasing interest in animal movement,our understanding of migration behavior has become more ***,there are still many species that have not been well studied,particularly sea ***,we present the first year-round Global Positioning System(GPS)tracking data of the Black-tailed Gull(Larus crassirostris)at the population *** used solar-powered GPS-Global System for Mobile communication(GSM)loggers to successfully track 30 individuals breeding at Xingrentuo Islet,Liaoning Province,China,for 1-3 *** for one individual who roamed in the far north of the Yellow Sea during non-breeding period,all others did a directed southward *** routes and wintering sites differed among migrating gulls and between years for the birds tracked for two or more ***,during wintering,the migrating gulls were more likely to travel over a large body of water and shift sites,and some trajectories were quite complex,which was probably closely related to what we observed in the field about their boat-chasing *** to wintering movements,the post-breeding movements ranged over a smaller ***,almost all of them had a long post-breeding period near the breeding islet(≥120days,<220 km from the breeding islet),and 80%of the gulls who were tracked more than one year had at least one faithful post-breeding *** to the post-breeding period,only approximately half of the migrating gulls had a pre-breeding period that was shorter(3-20 days)and closer to the breeding islet(≤80 km).Migration distance varied among migrating gulls(range 209-2405 km)and the gulls moved least distance during postbreeding ***,we found that the southward movement of the migrating gulls occurred when the temperature near the breeding islet dropped;specifically,the gulls directly migrated southward away from the post-breeding *** results suggest that the B

旨在揭示聚苯乙烯纳米塑料(PS-NPs)的雄性生殖毒性,本试验以雄性绍兴鸭为研究对象,探究了PS-NPs对鸭睾丸组织的影响。试验将32只绍兴公鸭随机分为空白Control组、L-NPs组、M-NPs组和H-NPs组共4组(每组8只),分别饲喂饲料浓度为0、1、10、100 mg·kg^(-1)的PS-NPs。45 d称重后致死,采集鸭的睾丸,计算睾丸系数,HE染色观察各组睾丸组织病理变化;试剂盒检测睾丸组织中丙二醛(MDA)含量以及谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GSH-Px)、超氧化物岐化酶(SOD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)活性;Western blot检测氧化损伤相关蛋白Nrf2、NQO1和HO-1的表达水平;实时荧光定量PCR检测炎症相关基因TNF-α和IL-6的mRNA转录水平。结果显示,与Control组相比,随着PS-NPs处理浓度升高,H-NPs组睾丸系数显著降低(P<0.05);病理学结果显示,曲精小管间的间隙不断变大,间质细胞数量逐渐减少,曲精小管管壁结构模糊;M-NPs组和H-NPs组睾丸组织MDA含量显著(P<0.05)和极显著(P<0.01)升高,GSH、SOD和CAT活性显著(P<0.05)和极显著(P<0.01)下降;Western blot结果显示,与Control组相比,M-NPs组和H-NPs组Nrf2、NQO1、HO-1蛋白表达水平呈显著(P<0.05)和极显著(P<0.01)下降;实时荧光定量PCR结果显示,与Control组相比,M-NPs组和H-NPs组TNF-α、IL-6基因mRNA转录水平显著(P<0.05)和极显著(P<0.01)升高。结果表明,PS-NPs能引起绍兴鸭睾丸组织形态结构改变、炎症和氧化应激,并且其损伤程度与PS-NPs暴露剂量呈正相关;PS-NPs引起的炎症反应与Nrf2/HO-1信号通路密切相关。

Warm Compaction Process of P/M Steels by Orthogonal Testing Method

In order to achieve higher density of P/M steels using the die wall lubrication compacting method or powder lubricant in warm compaction process, the influence of different process parameters on the green density of warm compacted samples was studied. According to the orthogonal test method, the authors systematically study the influence of the different compaction pressure, condition of lubrication and compaction temperature on the green density of the sample in the warm compaction process, and put forward the optimal process parameter of warm compaction experiment. It is found that, a high compaction pressure （≥700 MPa）, die wall lubrication combined with a small amount of internal lubricants, and fitting compaction temperature by different condition of lubrication, are the optimal parameters in warm compaction process.

In this work, the binding interaction between a new bismuth（HI） Schiff base complex{ [Bi（valen）]C1.2H2O} [H2valen=N,N′bis（2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenylmethylidene）-2,6-pyridinediamine, C2 IH19N3O4]and bovine serum albumin（BSA） was studied via fluorescence quenching method. The static quenching constant KLBand some thermodynamic parameters（e.g.,△G^θ, △H^θ and △S^θ） of the interaction were estimated. In particular, thebinding site between the complex and BSA was explored by molecular docking. On the basis of the mechanism ofFOrster energy transfer, the binding distance between the bismuth（Ⅲ） Schiff base complex and BSA（Trp.213） as wellas the transfer efficiency was obtained. Furthermore, the effect of the bismuth（Ⅲ） Schiff base complex on the con-formation of BSA was investigated using synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy.

NDFIP1 has been previously reported as a tumor suppressor in multiple solid tumors,but the function of NDFIP1 in NSCLC and the underlying mechanism are still ***,the WW domain containing proteins can be recognized by NDFIP1,resulted in the loading of the target proteins into ***,whether WW domain-containing transcription regulator 1(WWTR1,also known as TAZ)can be packaged into exosomes by NDFIP1 and if so,whether the release of this oncogenic protein via exosomes has an effect on tumor development has not been investigated to any ***,we first found that NDFIP1 was low expressed in NSCLC samples and cell lines,which is associated with shorter ***,we confirmed the interaction between TAZ and NDFIP1,and the existence of TAZ in exosomes,which requires ***,knockout of NDFIP1 led to TAZ accumulation with no change in its mRNA level and degradation *** the cellular TAZ level could be altered by exosome ***,NDFIP1 inhibited proliferation in vitro and in vivo,and silencing TAZ eliminated the increase of proliferation caused by NDFIP1 ***,TAZ was negatively correlated with NDFIP1 in subcutaneous xenograft model and clinical samples,and the serum exosomal TAZ level was lower in NSCLC *** summary,our data uncover a new tumor suppressor,NDFIP1 in NSCLC,and a new exosome-related regulatory mechanism of TAZ.
