Atmospheric fate of typical liquid crystal monomers in the tropospheric gas,liquid,and granular phases

Mineral aerosol particles significantly impact environmental risk prediction of liquid crystal monomers(LCMs).In this work,we investigated the reaction mechanisms and kinetics of three typical LCMs(4-cyano-3,5-difluorophenyl 4-ethylbenzoate(CEB-2F),4-cyano-3-fluorophenyl 4-ethylbenzoate(CEB-F),and 4-cyanophenyl 4-ethylbenzoate(CEB))with ozone(O_(3))in the atmospheric gas,liquid,and particle phases employing density functional theory(DFT).Here,O_(3)is prone to add to the benzene ring without F atom(s)in the selected LCMs.The ozonolysis products are aldehydes,carboxylic acids,epoxides,and unsaturated hydrocarbons containing aromatic rings.Those products undergo secondary ozonolysis to generate small molecular compounds such as glyoxal,which is beneficial for generating secondary organic aerosol(SOA).Titanium dioxide(TiO_(2)),an essential component of mineral aerosol particles,has good adsorption properties for LCMs;however,it slightly reduces the reactivity with O_(3).At 298 K,the reaction rate constant of the selected LCMs reacting with O_(3)in the gas and atmospheric liquid phases is(2.74–5.53)×10^(-24)cm^(3)/(mol·sec)and 5.58×10^(-3)–39.1 L/(mol·sec),while CEB-2F reacting with O_(3)on(TiO_(2))_(6)cluster is 1.84×10^(-24)cm^(3)/(mol·sec).The existence of TiO_(2)clusters increases the persistence and long-distance transportability of LCMs,which enlarges the contaminated area of LCMs.

The high energy coordination compounds Cu(TZCA)_(2)(ClO_(4))_(2)(ECCs-1) was prepared by 1H-tetrazole-5-carbohydrazide(TZCA) with a high energy skeleton and a strong coordination ability group.At the same time,the reaction activity of the ligand was explored,and the single crystal structure of it and intermediate were obtained.The structures of all substances were characterized by IR and EA.And the structure and composition of ECCs-1 are confirmed by ESP,AC,SEM and ICP-OES.Physical and chemical properties tests show that ECCs-1 has an acceptable thermal stability(T_(d)=177℃) and extremely sensitive mechanical stimulation(IS=1 J,FS=5 N).The comprehensive performance test results show that ECCs-1 has excellent initiation ability.In addition,the decomposition mechanism of ECCs-1 is explored from two aspects of experiment and theoretical calculation.

Investigating the effect of volatility on the hygroscopicities of acetate nanoparticle aerosols by surface plasmon resonance microscopy

Under high relative humidity(RH)conditions,the release of volatile components(such as acetate)has a significant impact on the aerosol hygroscopicity.In this work,one surface plasmon resonance microscopy(SPRM)measurement system was introduced to determine the hygroscopic growth factors(GFs)of three acetate aerosols separately or mixed with glucose at different RHs.For Ca(CH_(3)COO)_(2) or Mg(CH_(3)COO)_(2) aerosols,the hygroscopic growth trend of each time was lower than that of the previous time in three cyclic humidification from 70% RH to 90% RH,which may be due to the volatility of acetic acid leading to the formation of insoluble hydroxide(Ca(OH)_(2) or Mg(OH)_(2))under high RH conditions.Then the third calculated GF(using the Zdanovskii-Stokes-Robinson method)for Ca(CH_(3)COO)_(2) or Mg(CH_(3)COO)_(2) in bicomponent aerosols with 1:1 mass ratio were 3.20% or 5.33% lower than that of the first calculated GF at 90% RH.The calculated results also showed that the hygroscopicity change of bicomponent aerosol was negatively correlated with glucose content,especially when the mass ratio of Mg(CH_(3)COO)_(2) to glucose was 1:2,the GF at 90% RH only decreased by4.67% after three cyclic humidification.Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrum(ICP-AES)based measurements also indicated that the changes of Mg^(2+)concentration in bicomponent was lower than that of the single-component.The results of this study reveal thatduring the efflorescence transitions of atmospheric nanoparticles,the organic acids diffusion rate may be inhibited by the coating effect of neutral organic components,and the particles aging cycle will be prolonged.

An improved construction algorithm of polar codes based on the frozen bits

In order to improve the problems that the minimum hamming weight(MHW) of the polar codes of the traditional Gaussian approximation(GA) construction is small and its performance is not good enough, an improved channel construction algorithm of polar codes based on frozen bits is proposed by combining the construction of the Reed-Muller(RM) code to effectively increase the MHW and analyzing the correcting and checking functions of the frozen bits in the successive cancellation list(SCL) decoding.

Explosion resistance performance of reinforced concrete box girder coated with polyurea:Model test and numerical simulation

To study the anti-explosion protection effect of polyurea coating on reinforced concrete box girder,two segmental girder specimens were made at a scale of 1:3,numbered as G(without polyurea coating)and PCG(with polyurea coating).The failure characteristics and dynamic responses of the specimens were compared through conducting explosion tests.The reliability of the numerical simulation using LS-DYNA software was verified by the test results.The effects of different scaled distances,reinforcement ratios,concrete strengths,coating thicknesses and ranges of polyurea were studied.The results show that the polyurea coating can effectively enhance the anti-explosion performance of the girder.The top plate of middle chamber in specimen G forms an elliptical penetrating hole,while that in specimen PCG only shows a very slight local dent.The peak vertical displacement and residual displacement of PCG decrease by 74.8% and 73.7%,respectively,compared with those of specimen G.For the TNT explosion with small equivalent,the polyurea coating has a more significant protective effect on reducing the size of fracture.With the increase of TNT equivalent,the protective effect of polyurea on reducing girder displacement becomes more significant.The optimal reinforcement ratio,concrete strength,thickness and range of polyurea coating were also drawn.

Sex-specific facilitation and reproduction of the gynodioecious cushion plant Arenaria polytrichoides on the Himalaya-Hengduan mountains,SW China

When benefiting other beneficiaries,cushion plants may reciprocally receive feedback effects.The feedback effects on different sex morphs,however,remains unclear.In this study,taking the gynodioecious Arenaria polytrichiodes as a model species,we aimed to assess the sex-specific facilitation intensity of cushion plant by measuring the beneficiary cover ratio,and to assess the potential costs in cushion reproductive functions by measuring the flower and fruit cover ratios.The total beneficiary cover ratio was similar between females and hermaphrodites.Females produced much less flowers but more fruits than hermaphrodites.These results suggested that females and hermaphrodites possess similar facilitation intensity,and female cushion A.polytrichoides may allocate more resources saved from pollen production to seed production,while hermaphrodites possibly allocate more resources to pollen production hence reducing seed production.The surface areas covered by beneficiaries produced less flowers and fruits than areas without beneficiaries.In addition,strong negative correlations between beneficiary cover and flower cover were detected for both females and hermaphrodites,but the correlation strength were similar for these two sex morphs.However,the correlation between beneficiary cover and fruit cover was only significantly negative for females,suggesting that beneficiary plants negatively affect fruit reproduction of females while have neutral effects on hermaphrodites.All the results suggest that to facilitate other beneficiaries can induce reproductive costs on cushion A.polytrichoides,with females possibly suffering greater cost than hermaphrodites.Such differentiation in reproductive costs between sex morphs,in long-term perspective,may imply sex imbalance in population dynamics.

Comparative analysis of frictional behavior and mechanism of molybdenum ditelluride with different structures

Two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)have layered structures with excellent tribological properties.Since the energy difference between hexagonal-molybdenum ditelluride(2H-MoTe_(2))and distorted octahedral-molybdenum ditelluride(1T′-MoTe_(2))is very small among the transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs),MoTe_(2) becomes one of the most promising candidates for phase engineering.In our experiment,we found that the friction force and friction coefficient(COF)of 2H-MoTe_(2) were an order of magnitude smaller than those of 1T′-MoTe_(2) by the atomic force microscope(AFM)experiments.The friction difference between 1T′-MoTe_(2) and 2H-MoTe_(2) was further verified in molecular dynamics(MD)simulations.The density functional theory(DFT)calculations suggest that the friction contrast is related to the difference in sliding energy barrier of the potential energy surface(PES)for a tip sliding across the surface.The PES obtained from the DFT calculation indicates that the maximum energy barrier and the minimum energy path(MEP)energy barrier of 2H-MoTe_(2) are both smaller than those of 1T′-MoTe_(2),which means that less energy needs to be dissipated during the sliding process.The difference in energy barrier of the PES could be ascribed to its larger interlayer spacing and weaker Mo–Te interatomic interactions within the layers of 2H-MoTe_(2) than those of 1T′-MoTe_(2).The obvious friction difference between 1T′-MoTe_(2) and 2H-MoTe_(2) not only provides a new non-destructive means to detect the phase transition by the AFM,but also provides a possibility to tune friction by controlling the phase transition,which has the potential to be applied in extreme environments such as space lubrication.

CS-FSCL decoding algorithm of polar codes based on critical sets

In order to reduce the number of redundant candidate codewords generated by the fast successive cancellation list(FSCL) decoding algorithm for polar codes, a simplified FSCL decoding algorithm based on critical sets(CS-FSCL) of polar codes is proposed. The algorithm utilizes the number of information bits belonging to the CS in the special nodes, such as Rate-1 node, repetition(REP) node and single-parity-check(SPC) node, to constrain the number of the path splitting and avoid the generation of unnecessary candidate codewords, and thus the latency and computational complexity are reduced. Besides, the algorithm only flips the bits corresponding to the smaller log-likelihood ratio(LLR) values to generate the sub-maximum likelihood(sub-ML) decoding codewords and ensure the decoding performance. Simulation results show that for polar codes with the code length of 1 024, the code rates of 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4, the proposed CS-FSCL algorithm, compared with the conventional FSCL decoding algorithm, can achieve the same decoding performance, but reduce the latency and computational complexity at different list sizes. Specifically, under the list size of L=8, the code rates of R=1/2 and R=1/4, the latency is reduced by 33% and 13% and the computational complexity is reduced by 55% and 50%, respectively.

Design of Low-Power Turbo Encoder and Decoder for NB-IoT

Turbo code is an error correction coding scheme close to the Shannon limit, usually used in wireless data transmission. Based on the parallel Turbo code algorithm, a parallel Turbo code circuit design scheme is proposed.In the encoder, the recursive systematic convolutional encoder is multiplexed. The decoder is divided into branch metric, recursive, maximum likelihood ratio, and external information calculation modules. The decoding algorithm is based on Max-Log-MAP, controlling the component decoder in parallel. And the state metric calculation in the decoding circuit is combined to reduce the overall power consumption effectively, enabling the encoder and decoder to be used in narrowband Internet of things(NB-IoT). Finally, the hardware scheme of the main functional modules of Turbo code encoding and decoding is designed and implemented. The results show that the dynamic power consumption is less than 50 m W. The overall on-chip power consumption is reduced by 40% at the frequency of 125 MHz compared with previous jobs.

The development of highly efficient catalysts in the cathodes of rechargeable Li-O_(2) batteries is a considerable challenge.To enhance the electrochemical performance of the Li-O_(2) battery,it is essential to choose a suitable catalyst material.Copper selenide(CuSe)is considered as a more promising cathode catalyst material for Li-O_(2) battery due to its better conductivity and rich electrochemical active sites.However,its electrochemical reaction and fundamental catalytic mechanism remain unclear till now.Herein,in-situ environmental transmission electron microscopy technique was used to study the catalysis mechanism of the CuSe nanosheets in Li-O_(2) batteries during discharge and charge processes.It is found that Li_(2)O was formed and decomposed around the ultrafine-grained Cu during the discharge and charge processes,respectively,demonstrating excellent cycling.This indicate that the freshly formed ultrafine-grained Cu in the conversion reaction catalyzed the latter four-electron-transfer oxygen reduction reaction,leading to the formation of Li_(2)O.Our study provides important understanding of the electrochemistry of the LiO_(2) nanobatteries,which will aid the development of high-performance Li-O_(2) batteries for energy storage applications.
