Characterization of odorous charge and photochemical reactivity of VOC emissions from a full-scale food waste treatment plant in China

Food waste treatment plants （FWTPs） are usually associated with odorous nuisance and health risks, which are partially caused by volatile organic compound （VOC） emissions. This study investigated the VOC emissions from a selected full-scale FWTP in China. The feedstock used in this plant was mainly collected from local restaurants. For a year, the FWTP was closely monitored on specific days in each season. Four major indoor treatment units of the plant, including the storage room, sorting/crushing room, hydrothermal hydrolysis unit, and aerobic fermentation unit, were chosen as the monitoring locations. The highest mean concentration of total VOC emissions was observed in the aerobic fermentation unit at 21,748.2-31,283.3 μg/m^3, followed by the hydrothermal hydrolysis unit at 10,798.1-23,144.4 μg/m^3. The detected VOC families included biogenic compounds （oxygenated compounds, hydrocarbons, terpenes, and organosulfur compounds） and abiogenic compounds （aromatic hydrocarbons and halocarbons）. Oxygenated compounds, particularly alcohols, were the most abundant compounds in all samples. With the use of odor index analysis and principal components analysis, the hydrothermal hydrolysis and aerobic fermentation units were clearly distinguished from the pre-treatment units, as characterized by their higher contributions to odorous nuisance. Methanthiol was the dominant odorant in the hydrothermal hydrolysis unit, whereas aldehyde was the dominant odorant in the aerobic fermentation unit. Terpenes, specifically limonene, had the highest level of propylene equivalent concentration during the monitoring periods. This concentration can contribute to the increase in the atmospheric reactivity and ozone formation potential in the surrounding air.

Utilizing Dynamic Data to Quickly Evaluate Advantageous Channels and Applications

In response to the high cost and difficulty of high-speed development and testing data in offshore oil fields, this paper proposes to use the most easily available production performance data as the basis and use the grey correlation method to calculate the correlation coefficient between oil and water wells to characterize the degree of development of advantageous channels. The consistency between the calculated results of this method and the tracer test results is over 80%. Based on the fitting results, the correlation coefficient exceeds 0.74 to determine the existence of an advantageous channel. According to the research results of grey correlation method, Bohai K oilfield has completed the combined profile control and flooding measures, and the daily oil production has increased by 20 m3/d. This method is simple, fast, and can achieve quantitative evaluation, which saves time and investment compared to offshore testing. It has strong application and reference value for the development of other offshore water injection oilfields.

Research on Well Testing Interpretation of Low Permeability Deformed Dual Medium Reservoir

Considering the influence of quadratic gradient term and medium deformation on the seepage equation, a well testing interpretation model for low permeability and deformation dual medium reservoirs was derived and established. The difference method was used to solve the problem, and pressure and pressure derivative double logarithmic curves were drawn to analyze the seepage law. The research results indicate that the influence of starting pressure gradient and medium deformation on the pressure characteristic curve is mainly manifested in the middle and late stages. The larger the value, the more obvious the upward warping of the pressure and pressure derivative curve;the parameter characterizing the dual medium is the crossflow coefficient. The channeling coefficient determines the time and location of the appearance of the “concave”. The smaller the value, the later the appearance of the “concave”, and the more to the right of the “concave”.

Pig manure,rich in antibiotics and metals,is widely applied in paddy fields as a soil conditioner,triggering the proliferation of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in ***,comprehensive studies on the effects of manure fertilization on the abundance of ARGs and their influencing factors are still ***,pig manure and manure-amended and inorganic-amended soils were collected from 11 rice-cropping regions in eastern China,and the accumulation of antibiotics,metals,and ARGs was assessed *** results showed that manure fertilization led to antibiotic residues and increased the metal content(i.e.,Zn,Cu,Ni,and Cr).Tetracycline and sulfonamide resistance genes(tetM,tetO,sul1,and sul2)were also significantly enhanced with manure *** to variance partitioning analysis,the most important factors that individually influenced ARGs were soil physicochemical properties,accounting for 12%of the *** correlations between soil nutrients and ARGs indicated that manure application enhanced the growth of resistant microorganisms by supplying more *** and antibiotics contributed 9%and 5%to the variations in ARGs,*** co-occurrence also increased the enrichment of ARGs,as their interactions accounted for 2%of the variation in ***,Cu was significantly related to most ARGs in the soil(r=0.26–0.52,p<0.05).Sulfapyridine was significantly related to sul2,and tetracycline resistance genes were positively related to *** study highlighted the risks of antibiotic and ARG accumulation with manure fertilization and shed light on the essential influencing factors of ARGs in paddy soils.

Improving sentiment analysis accuracy with emoji embedding

Due to the diversity and variability of Chinese syntax and semantics,accurately identifying and distinguishing individual emotions from online texts is *** overcome this limitation,we incorporate a new source of individual sentiment,emojis,which contain thousands of graphic symbols and are increasingly being used for expressing emotion in online *** examined popular sentiment analysis algorithms,including rule-based and classification algorithms,to evaluate the impact of supplementing emojis as additional features to improve the algorithm *** were also translated into corresponding sentiment words when con-structing features for comparison with those directly generated from emoji label *** addition,considering different functions of emojis in texts,we classified all posts in the dataset by their emoji usage and examined the changes in algorithm *** found that emojis are effective as expanding features for improving the accuracy of sentiment analysis algorithms,and the algorithm performance can be further increased by taking different emoji usages into *** this study,we developed an improved emoji-embedding model based on Bi-LSTM(namely,CEmo-LSTM),which achieves the highest accuracy(around 0.95)when analyzing online Chinese *** applied the CEmo-LSTM algorithm to a large dataset collected from Weibo from December 1,2019 to March 20,2020 to understand the sentiment evolution of online users during the COVID-19 *** found that the pandemic remarkably impacted individual sentiments and caused more passive emotions(e.g.,horror and sadness).Our novel emoji-embedding algorithm creatively combined emojis as well as emoji usage with the sentiment analysis model and can handle emotion mining tasks more effectively and efficiently.

Improving Land Surface Hydrological Simulations in China Using CLDAS Meteorological Forcing Data

The accuracy of land surface hydrological simulations using an offline land surface model(LSM)depends largely on the quality of the atmospheric forcing *** this study,Global Land Data Assimilation System(GLDAS)forcing data and the newly developed China Meteorological Administration Land Data Assimilation System(CLDAS)forcing data are used to drive the Noah LSM with multiple parameterizations(Noah-MP)and to explore how the newly developed CLDAS forcing data improve land surface hydrological simulations over China's *** monthly soil moisture(SM)and evapotranspiration(ET)simulations are then compared and evaluated against *** results show that the Noah-MP driven by the CLDAS forcing data(referred to as CLDASNoah-MP)significantly improves the simulations in most cases over China's Mainland and its eight river *** increases the correlation coefficient(R)values from 0.451 to 0.534 for the SM simulations at a depth range of 0–10 cm in China's Mainland,especially in the eastern monsoon area such as the Huang–Huai–Hai Plain,the southern Yangtze River basin,and the Zhujiang River ***,the root-mean-square error is reduced from 0.078 to0.068 m3 m-3 for the SM simulations,and from 12.9 to 11.4 mm month-1 for the ET simulations over China's Mainland,especially in the southern Yangtze River basin and Zhujiang River *** study demonstrates that,by merging more in situ and remote sensing observations in regional atmospheric forcing data,offline LSM simulations can better simulate regional-scale land surface hydrological processes.

Relationship between subtypes of MRI-confirmed acute ischemic stroke based on OCSP and TOAST classifications

BACKGROUND： Two classification systems exist for subtypes of acute cerebral infarction. One was developed for the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment （TOAST）, based primarily on etiology. The other is the Oxfordshire Community Stroke Project （OCSP）, based on clinical features. OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the relationship between OCSP and TOAST classifications in terms of stroke location and etiology in 126 patients with acute ischemic stroke confirmed by transcranial magnetic resonance imaging （MRI）. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Retrospective case analysis. Transcranial MRI, diffusion weighted imaging, and magnetic resonance angiography were performed in 126 patients with acute stroke during the first 48 hours following admission to the Department of Neurology, Navy General Hospital of Chinese PLA. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 126 patients with acute stroke, comprised of 71 males and 55 females, admitted to the Navy General Hospital of Chinese PLA between December 2005 and April 2006 were included. METHODS： Of 126 patients with acute stroke, 13 exhibited total anterior circulation infarcts （TACI）, 51 had partial anterior circulation infarcts （PACI）, 28 suffered posterior circulation infarcts （POCI）, and 34 had lacunar infarcts （LACI） based on OCSP classification. However, according to TOAST classification, 19 cases were a result of large-artery atherosclerosis, 32 by cardioembolism, 36 by small-vessel occlusion, 1 by stroke of other determined etiology, and 38 by stroke of undetermined etiology. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： The corresponding relationship of the subtypes of acute stroke based on OCSP and TOAST. RESULTS： Of patients with TACI, 8 （61.5%） were caused by cardioembolism. Of patients with PACI, 16 （31.4%） were caused by large-artery atherosclerosis and 17 （33.3%） by cardioembolism. Of patients with POCI, 12 （42.8%） were a result of small-vessel occlusion. Of patients with LACI, 17 （50.0%） were caused by hypertension and arteriolar sclerosis. CONCLUSIO

Water-retaining properties of NCZ composite dust suppressant and its wetting ability to hydrophobic coal dust

Coal dust is a primary threat to underground coal *** most common approach to control coal dust is hydraulic methods,such as water spray and coal seam water *** improve the dust suppressant efficiency of hydraulic methods,a novel chemical composite dust suppressant,called NCZ,was prepared in this study using calcium chloride(CaCl_(2)),magnesium chloride(MgCl_(2)),and nonionic surfactants using a thermal synthesis *** water-retaining properties of NCZ powder and its solutions were characterized using the water absorption rate(WAR)and evaporation rate(ER),respectively,and the wetting abilities of the NCZ solutions on coal dust were tested using the initial contact angle(ICA)and sink rate(SR).The results indicate that the NCZ solutions have anti-evaporation effects,and the ER of the solution with a 20.0 wt%NCZ is reduced by 11.7%compared with that of clean ***,NCZ solutions have remarkable enhancement effects on the wettability of coal *** ICA and SR of clean water and the NCZ solution at 20.0 wt%are 141.9°and 0 mg/s,and 29.3°and 1.46 mg/s,***,quantitative relationships between the solution surface tension and the ICA and IR were established using the least squares *** study provides a new product for dust suppression in underground mines,which is significant for the optimum applied con-centration of dust suppressant in mining operations.

Simulation of three-stage operating temperature for supersaturation water-based condensational growth tube

In order to realize accurate dynamic control of supersaturation and to study condensation growth characteristics of nanoparticles through different levels of super saturation,a series of parametric analyses and systematic comparisons between two-stage and three-stage operating temperature designs were simulated with COMSOL *** simulation results showed that the three-stage operating temperature did not change peak supersaturation compared with two operating temperatures,and the three-stage operating temperature was superior in decreasing the amount of water vapor and the temperature,thus lowering particle loss and variation in detection and *** peak supersaturation level increased by 0.3 as the flow rate increased from 0.6 to 2.0 L/min,but the supersaturation peak moved from 0.0027 z0 to 0.08 z0(i.e.,the growth time and the final size decreased by 40%).Peak supersaturation increased as the temperature difference increased or the temperature difference window was shifting left,and minimum activation size *** the 70℃temperature difference window from 9℃,79℃-1℃,71℃for the condenser and initiator temperatures resulted in peak supersaturation in the centerline being above 5.8,and the activation size changed as low as 1 *** with flow rates varying by a factor of 2.5(from 0.6 to 1.5 L/min)resulted in a final size decrease of 43%(from 3.2 to 1.8μm),and experimental results of outlet particle size distributions were equivalent with theoretical analysis as the operating temperature was changed.
