Effect of Oils on SBS Modified Asphalt:Rheological Characteristics and Oxidation Aging

This study focuses on the effect of oils on rheology and oxidation aging of Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene modified asphalt(SBSMA)in the long term,after reducing one low-temperature Performance Grade(PG)of SBSMA by incorporating oils.Two oils,including corn-based bio-oil and re-refined engine oil bottom(REOB),were selected to enhance the low-temperature performance of SBSMA.All samples were subjected to Rolling Thin Film Oven(RTFO)aging and 20-h as well as 40-h Pressure Aging Vessel(PAV20 and PAV40)aging,prior to multiple stress creep recovery(MSCR),frequency sweep and Flourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)scanning.A good high-temperature performance of oil/SBS modified asphalt blends was reflected in MSCR and PG results,meanwhile non-recoverable creep compliance(Jnr)and recovery(R)were found to share a highly correlated relationship during aging progress.In addition,Glover–Rowe(G–R)parameter and phase angle master curves suggest that the improvement of cracking property mainly came from the softening effect of oils.Adding oils into SBSMA was observed to increase oxidation kinetics,but the blends with oils still exhibited better anti-oxidation aging than the base binder,mainly due to the SBS addition.Bio-oil exhibited an effect of relieving age hardening susceptibility of SBSMA.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have been developed over the past decade as the forefront of the state-of-theart photovoltaic technologies owing to their high efficiency and low cost,where nanostructured functional materials play key roles in performance optimization.As a versatile class of two-dimensional(2D)materials,transition metal carbides/nitrides MXenes have gained enormous attentions in PSCs since 2018 due to their superior properties such as excellent metallic conductivity,abundant surface functional groups,tunable work functions,high optical transparency,and mechanical robustness.The explorations of MXenes are of significance in performance promotion and commercialization expansion of devices.As such,this review focuses on the diversified advantages of MXenes,comprehensively summarizing their applications and developments in PSCs as additives,electron/hole transporting layers,interfacial engineering layers,and electrodes in sequence and explaining the relevant mechanisms behind.Simultaneously,the problems emerged from the related studies are considered and the corresponding suggestions like opening up the type of MXenes usage,taking further insight of the modulation of surface termination groups on Fermi levels,understanding the effect on energy level structures of perovskite or other functional layers,and realizing commercialization,etc.are provided for the future in-depth explorations.This review is intended to provide overall perspective of the current status of MXenes and highlight the direction for the future advancements in MXenes design and processes towards efficient,stable,large-area,and low-cost PSCs.

Influence of micro-water on AC breakdown characteristics of C_(4)F_(7)N/CO_(2)gas mixture under non-uniform electric field

The application of eco-friendly C_(4)F_(7)N/CO_(2)gas mixture has become a hot topic in the power industry.To obtain the influence law of micro-water on the AC insulation characteristics of C_(4)F_(7)N/CO_(2)gas mixture,breakdown tests were carried out under different non-uniform electric fields and micro-water volume fractions.With the gap distance of 1 mm and the electric field non-uniform coefficient less than 4.42,the breakdown voltage is positively correlated with gas pressure.With the gap distance of 6 mm and the electric field non-uniform coefficient of 9.28,the breakdown voltage shows a typical N-type change trend with the increase of gas pressure.With the gap distance of 9 mm and the electric field non-uniform coefficient up to 16.45,the breakdown voltage shows a typical N-type change trend with the increase of gas pressure.Micro-water has a negative effect on breakdown voltage under different electric fields,meanwhile the breakdown voltage of slightly non-uniform electric field is greatly affected by micro-water,and the influence of micro-water on breakdown voltage is different under different gas pressures.Therefore,the influence of operating gas pressure and slightly non-uniform electric field should be considered when the micro-water control index of C_(4)F_(7)N/CO_(2)gas mixture insulated equipment is formulated.

The shortage of natural aggregates is becoming a severe problem in the pavement industry globally.To address this issue,in this study,an effort was made to use reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)and coal gangue(CG)as coarse and fine aggregate,respectively for producing the hot mix asphalt(HMA).As the replacement of natural aggregate,there were seven types of HMA containing 20%and 40%RAP coarse aggregate content,and 10%and 25%CG fine aggregate content were designed and prepared.In addition,Marshall Stability test,rutting resistance test,immersion Marshall test,freezing-thaw splitting test,moisture-induced sensitivity test,and low-temperature semicircle bending test were conducted.The results show that the properties of the asphalt mixture containing both RAP and CG meet the Chinese specification through it is slightly lower than the virgin asphalt mixture.Furthermore,the addition of 40%RAP coarse aggregate and 25%CG fine aggregate to asphalt mixes can significantly reduce manufacturing costs,energy consumption,and CO_(2)emissions by 29.4%,19.8%,and 21.9%,respectively,compared to the virgin asphalt mixture.The finding of this study contributes to current knowledge by investigating the feasibility of jointly using the RAP and CG in asphalt mixture,which could be interested by both industry and academic society.

Spatial variability of soil moisture in a mining subsidence area of northwest China

The current study investigated the impact of coal mining on deep soil moisture from the perspective of the absolute value of soil moisture.A combined classical statistics and multi-dimensional geo-statistics approach was employed to analyze the temporal and spatial changes in soil moisture from 0 to 10 m in the mining face of the Nalin River No.2 Mine in Northwest China from the perspective of spatial variability.The results of the study show that compared with the control area,the average value of soil moisture in 1-and 2-year subsidence areas decreased by 1.18%and 0.96%,respectively,whereas the coefcient of variation increased by 17.92%and 3.63%,respectively.Interpolation of soil moisture spatial distribution results showed that the spatial variability of soil moisture in the control area was less than that in the subsidence areas,and the spatial variability of soil moisture in the 2-year subsidence area was less than that in the 1-year subsidence area,indicating that mining increases the spatial variability of soil moisture and that the degree of spatial variability of soil moisture decreases as the subsidence enters the stable period.These results provide evidence for the mechanism by which coal mining subsidence afects soil moisture.Preferential fow caused by surface cracks,soil texture,the soil pore microstructure,and other factors in the coal mining subsidence area are the primary drivers of the increase in spatial variability of soil moisture.

Background:Spontaneously resolved primary congenital glaucoma is rare and the mechanism remains unknown.Previous literature described the phenomenon of spontaneous resolution of primary congenital glaucoma,with no further reports on follow-up visits and visual development of patients.We report a case of unilateral spontaneously resolved primary congenital glaucoma at a 7-year follow-up visit and describe the differential development of axial length(AL)between affected eye and healthy eye.Case Description:A 6-year-old boy firstly presented at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center with expanded corneas and ruptures in Descemet’s membranes(Haab’s striae)and apparently thin retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)in the left eye(LE),but normal intraocular pressure(IOP)of both eyes without anti-glaucoma medications or surgeries.At 7-year follow-up,the IOPs of bilateral eyes were stable ranging from 8 to 11 mmHg.A cup to disc ratio and the RNFL was stable in the LE at the following visit.The AL increased almost 3 mm in the right eye(RE)but 1.5 mm in the LE.Without anti-glaucoma medications or surgeries,the primary congenital glaucoma was spontaneously resolved.Conclusions:It may figure out the development and influence of the affected eye of the patient,including AL and refraction state with regular ophthalmic examination at periodic follow-up.

Recurring Real-Time Monitoring of Inflammations in Living Mice with a Chemiluminescent Probe for Hypochlorous Acid

Probes for in vivo imaging of hypochlorous acid(HOCl),one of the most important reactive oxygen species in innate immunity,are urgently needed to understand the pathogenesis of autoimmune and neuroinflammatory disorders.As a strong oxidant,HOCl could bleach near-infrared sensors and inactivate luciferase readily,making in vivo imaging overwhelmingly challenging.Via fine-tuning of a selective HOCl sensing moiety,HOCl stable spacer,and bright chemiluminescent scaffold,we have developed HOCl-CL-510 as a highly selective and sensitive probe for HOCl detection both in vitro and in vivo.In particular,we achieved recurring real-time monitoring of HOCl in both acute and chronic inflammation models in living mice,providing a new chemical tool for dynamic monitoring of disease development with reduced usage of experimental animals.

Exhumation and Preservation of the Jinchuan Ni-Cu-PGE Deposit under the East Longshou Mountain Thermal Evolution,Revealed by Apatite Fission Track Thermochronology

Uplift and exhumation are important factors affecting the preservation of deposits.The anatomy of uplift-cooling evolution and exhumation in the East Longshou Mountain is of significant research value in understanding changes in the Jinchuan Ni-Cu-PGE deposit since its formation.This study uses apatite fission track(AFT)thermochronology to reconstruct the thermal history of the East Longshou Mountain,including the Jinchuan mine,revealing the uplift and exhumation history of the East Longshou Mountain and elucidating the preservation status of the Jinchuan deposit.The AFT ages in the East Longshou Mountain are distributed from 62.3±3.0 Ma to 214.7±14 Ma,with significant differences in ages in distinct areas,the central and pooled ages being consistent within the margin of error.Inverse thermal history models reveal two rapid cooling events associated with exhumation from the Early Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous(200–100 Ma)and since the Miocene(15–0 Ma),the former attributable to the far-afield response to the closure of the PaleoTethys Ocean and plate assembly at the southern margin of Eurasia,the latter associated with the initial India-Eurasia plate collision.A slow cooling event from the Early Cretaceous to the Miocene(100–15 Ma)is thought to be related to the arid environment in northwest China since the Cretaceous.These cooling events have diverse responses and cooling rates in different blocks of the East Longshou Mountain:the southwest and centre of which are mainly cooled over 200–120 Ma and 120–0 Ma,with cooling rates of~0.25 and~0.33°C/Ma(~1.25 and~0.33°C/Ma in the centre);the Jinchuan mine primarily cooled over 160–100 Ma,100–15 Ma and 15–0 Ma,with cooling rates of~1.33,~0.25 and~2.00°C/Ma.These differentiated coolings imply that the uplift of the East Longshou Mountain before the Miocene(~15 Ma)was integral.Strong uplift then occurred in the vicinity of the mining area,which is a critical period for the uplift of the Jinchuan deposit to the surface,meaning that the Jinchuan deposit was exposed no ear

Despite exciting achievements with some malignancies,immunotherapy for hypoimmunogenic cancers,especially glioblastoma(GBM),remains a formidable clinical challenge.Poor immunogenicity and deficient immune infiltrates are two major limitations to an effective cancer-specific immune response.Herein,we propose that an injectable signal-amplifying nanocomposite/hydrogel system consisting of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and imiquimod-loaded antigen-capturing nanoparticles can simultaneously amplify the chemotactic signal of antigen-presenting cells and the"danger"signal of GBM.We demonstrated the feasibility of this strategy in two scenarios of GBM.In the first scenario,we showed that this simultaneous amplification system,in conjunction with local chemotherapy,enhanced both the immunogenicity and immune infiltrates in a recurrent GBM model;thus,ultimately making a cold GBM hot and suppressing postoperative relapse.Encouraged by excellent efficacy,we further exploited this signal-amplifying system to improve the efficiency of vaccine lysate in the treatment of refractory multiple GBM,a disease with limited clinical treatment options.In general,this biomaterial-based immune signal amplification system represents a unique approach to restore GBM-specific immunity and may provide a beneficial preliminary treatment for other clinically refractorymalignancies.
