Magnetic behaviors and magnetocaloric effects in rare earth high-entropy amorphous/nanocrystalline alloys

Rare earth high-entropy alloys(RE-HEAs)exhibit great potential to be applied as refrigerants due to their good comprehensive magnetocaloric *** this work,octary GdTbDyHoErTmCoAl and GdTbDyHoErTmCoNi RE-HEAs with amorphous/nanocrystalline structure exhibiting comparable magnetocaloric effect were *** RE-HEAs show a second-order magnetic phase transition in the temperature range of hydrogen *** to the complex magnetic interactions,a spin glasslike behavior at low temperatures is observed in the RE-HEAs.A superior magnetocaloric effect is obtained in the nanocrystalline GdTbDyHoErTmCoNi high-entropy alloy that is multiphase attributed to a stronger magnetic exchange interaction when compared with the other that exhibits single amorphous *** heterogeneous microstructure,homogeneous chemical distributions are observed in the partially crystallized high-entropy *** addition,the magnetocaloric effect and magnetic transition behavior of rare earth medium-and high-entropy alloys,including the RE-HEAs in this study,are summarized and *** results in this work provide a helpful guide for the design of RE-HEAs for hydrogen liquefaction applications with excellent magnetocaloric effects.

“Double ITCZ”is a common precipitation bias over the tropical Pacific in current climate models and Earth system models,but the reasons for its formation are still worth exploring and *** this study,we adopted the second version of Chinese Academy of Sciences Earth System Model(CAS-ESM2),by comparing a set of sea surface temperature(SST)bias correction experiments over the tropical Pacific,to explore the possible mechanism of SST bias on inducing the“Double ITCZ”from the perspective of the climatic annual mean bias in the coupled *** revealed that the simulated climatic annual mean SST bias over the tropical Pacific can affect the bias of latent heat flux through the saturation specific humidity,and the bias of latent heat flux can further affect that of vertical velocity of humid air by the condensation release mechanism,and finally modulate the simulated bias in ***,through the inter-comparison between different experiments,it is found that the source of Double ITCZ might mainly come from the annual mean SST bias over the tropical western Pacific through the proposed air-sea coupled process of“SST-saturated specific humidity-latent heat flux-vertical velocity-precipitation”,indicating a possible way on reducing the couple biases in models over the tropical Pacific to improve the accuracy of CAS-ESM2 for climate simulation.

Carbon dots(CDs)with precise targeting function show great potential in the field of drug delivery *** this study,the functionalized nucleus-targeting orange-emissive CDs with nuclear localization sequence(NLS)were loaded with adriamycin(DOX)to obtain a nucleus-targeting orange-emissive CDs drug delivery system(CDs-NLS-DOX),which delivered DOX to tumor cell nuclei to enhance its anti-tumor *** drug carrier orange-emissive CDs showed excitation-independent behavior,stable and enhanced imaging capability and good biocompatibility in vitro and in ***,the CDs-NLS could target the nuclei efficiently,and the CDs-NLS-DOX complexes had a high drug loading rate(59.4%)after loading DOX,exhibiting p H-dependent DOX release behavior through breaking acylhydrazone bond in a weak acidic *** addition,the CDs-NLS-DOX complexes exhibited an enhanced killing activity against human hepatoma cells(HepG2).The in vivo therapeutic effects on HepG2 nude mice transplanted tumors indicated the CDs-NLS-DOX had a stronger ability to inhibit tumor growth compared to free *** short,CDs-NLS-DOX is expected to be a precise and efficient nucleus-targeting nano-drug delivery system for tumor treatment.

The coexistence of inorganic and organic contaminants is a challenge for real-life water treatment ***,in this research,we used NH_2-MIL-125(Ti)to evaluate the single adsorption of hexavalent chromium(Cr(Ⅵ))or Rhodamine B(RhB)in an aqueous solution and further investigate simultaneous adsorption experiments to compare the adsorption behavior *** main influencing factors,for example,reaction time,initial concentration,reaction temperature,and pH were studied in *** all reaction systems,the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models were well illuminated the adsorption progress of Cr(Ⅵ)and *** studies showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and *** compared to the single system,the adsorption capacity of Cr(Ⅵ)in the binary system gradually decreased as the additive amount of RhB increased,whereas the adsorption capacity of RhB in the binary system was expanded *** the binary reaction system contained 100 mg/L Cr(Ⅵ),the removal rate of RhB increased to 97.58%.The formation of Cr(Ⅵ)-RhB and Cr(Ⅲ)-RhB complexes was the cause that provided facilitation for the adsorption of *** findings prove that the interactions during the water treatment process between contaminants may obtain additional benefits,contributing to a better adsorption capacity of co-existing contaminant.

Weather forecasting for the Zhangjiakou competition zone of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games is a challenging task due to its complex *** weather prediction models generally perform poorly for cold air pools and winds over complex terrains,due to their low spatiotemporal resolution and limitations in the description of dynamics,thermodynamics,and microphysics in mountainous *** study proposes an ensemble-learning model,named ENSL,for surface temperature and wind forecasts at the venues of the Zhangjiakou competition zone,by integrating five individual models—linear regression,random forest,gradient boosting decision tree,support vector machine,and artificial neural network(ANN),with a ridge regression as meta *** ENSL employs predictors from the high-resolution ECMWF model forecast(ECMWF-HRES) data and topography data,and targets from automatic weather station *** categories of predictors(synoptic-pattern related fields,surface element fields,terrain,and temporal features) are fed into *** results demonstrate that ENSL achieves better performance and generalization than individual *** root-mean-square error(RMSE) for the temperature and wind speed predictions is reduced by 48.2% and 28.5%,respectively,relative to *** the gust speed,the performance of ENSL is consistent with ANN(best individual model) in the whole dataset,whereas ENSL outperforms on extreme gust samples(42.7% compared with 3..7% obtained by ECMWF-HRES in terms of RMSE reduction).Sensitivity analysis of predictors in the four categories shows that ENSL fits their feature importance rankings and physical explanations effectively.

Centrifugal pumps are widely used in the metallurgy,coal,and building *** order to study the hydraulic characteristics of a closed impeller centrifugal pump during its shutdown in the so-called power frequency and frequency conversion modes,experiments were carried to determine the characteristic evolution of parameters such as speed,inlet and outlet pressure,head,flow rate and shaft power.A quasi-steady-state method was also used to further investigate these transient *** results show that,compared to the power frequency input,the performance parameter curves for the frequency conversion input are less volatile and *** characteristic time is longer and the response to shutdown is *** quasi-steady-state theoretical head-flow curves match the experimental head-flow curves more closely at low flow rates when the frequency conversion input is ***,in this case,the similarity law predicts the hydraulic performance more accurately.

The early decay of citrus can cause economic and serious food safety *** early decayed area has no obvious visual characteristics,making effective detection of this damage very difficult for the citrus *** study constructed a new detection system based on visible-light emitting diode(LED)structured-illumination imaging and proposed an effective methodology combined with a spiral phase transform(SPT)algorithm for the early detection of decayed *** sample obtained three phase-shifting pattern images with phase shifts of−2π/3.0,and 2π/3.at a spatial frequency of 0.25 cycles/*** strategies(i.e.,the conventional three-phase-shifting method,2-phase SPT,and 1-phase SPT)were used to demodulate the original patterned images to recover the direct component(DC)and amplitude component(AC)*** partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)and least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM)classification models were established based on the texture features of DC,AC,and RT(*** ratio of AC to DC)***,the random frog(RF)algorithm was used to simplify the optimal full-featured ***,the LS-SVM model constructed using 7 texture features from the RT image obtained an average classification accuracy of 95.1%for all tested *** study indicates that the proposed structured-illumination imaging technique combined with 2-phase SPT and feature-based classification model can achieve the fast identification of early decayed oranges.

The atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2))concentration has been increasing rapidly since the Industrial Revolution,which has led to unequivocal global warming and crucial environmental *** is extremely important to investigate the interactions among atmospheric CO_(2),the physical climate system,and the carbon cycle of the underlying surface for a better understanding of the Earth *** system models are widely used to investigate these interactions via coupled carbon-climate *** Chinese Academy of Sciences Earth System Model version 2(CAS-ESM2.0)has successfully fixed a two-way coupling of atmospheric CO_(2)with the climate and carbon cycle on land and in the *** CAS-ESM2.0,we conducted a coupled carbon-climate simulation by following the CMIP6 proposal of a historical emissions-driven *** paper examines the modeled CO_(2)by comparison with observed CO_(2)at the sites of Mauna Loa and Barrow,and the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite(GOSAT)CO_(2)*** results showed that CAS-ESM2.0 agrees very well with observations in reproducing the increasing trend of annual CO_(2)during the period 1850-2014,and in capturing the seasonal cycle of CO_(2)at the two baseline sites,as well as over northern high *** agreements illustrate a good ability of CAS-ESM2.0 in simulating carbon-climate interactions,even though uncertainties remain in the processes *** paper reports an important stage of the development of CAS-ESM with the coupling of carbon and climate,which will provide significant scientific support for climate research and China’s goal of carbon neutrality.
