Impact of Spinal Manipulative Therapy on Brain Function and Pain Alleviation in Lumbar Disc Herniation:A Resting-State fMRI Study

Objective:To elucidate how spinal manipulative therapy(SMT)exerts its analgesic effects through regulating brain function in lumbar disc herniation(LDH)patients by utilizing resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-f MRI).Methods:From September 2021 to September 2023,we enrolled LDH patients(LDH group,n=31)and age-and sex-matched healthy controls(HCs,n=28).LDH group underwent rs-f MRI at 2 distinct time points(TPs):prior to the initiation of SMT(TP1)and subsequent to the completion of the SMT sessions(TP2).SMT was administered once every other day for 30 min per session,totally 14 treatment sessions over a span of 4 *** did not receive SMT treatment and underwent only one f MRI ***,participants in LDH group completed clinical questionnaires on pain using the Visual Analog Scale(VAS)and the Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA)score,whereas HCs did not undergo clinical scale *** effects on the brain were jointly characterized using the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations(ALFF)and regional homogeneity(Re Ho).Correlation analyses were conducted between specific brain regions and clinical ***:Following SMT treatment,pain symptoms in LDH patients were notably alleviated and accompanied by evident activation of effects in the *** comparison to TP1,TP2 exhibited the most significant increase in ALFF values for Temporal_Sup_R and the most notable decrease in ALFF values for Paracentral_Lobule_L(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Additionally,the most substantial enhancement in Re Ho values was observed for the Cuneus_R,while the most prominent reduction was noted for the Olfactory_R(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Moreover,a comparative analysis revealed that,in contrast to HCs,LDH patients at TP1 exhibited the most significant increase in ALFF values for Temporal_Pole_Sup_L and the most notable decrease in ALFF values for Frontal_Mid_L(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Fur

Delayed tooth extraction socket(TES) healing can cause failure of subsequent oral implantation and increase socioeconomic burden on patients. Excessive amounts of M1 macrophages, apoptotic neutrophils(ANs), and neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs) impair alveolar bone regeneration during TES healing. In the present study, we first discovered that conditioned medium(CM) collected from berberine-treated human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BBR-HB-CM) accelerated TES healing. BBR-HB-CM contained bioactive materials that promoted the polarization of macrophages from M1 to M2, impeded the formation of ANs and NETs, and modulated M2 macrophage efferocytosis in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, BBR-HB-CM promoted bone formation by inhibiting macrophage-myofibroblast transition and reprogrammed macrophage polarization through p85/AKT/mTOR pathway-dependent autophagy. The 3-methyladenine abolished the therapeutic effects of BBR-HB-CM. Further studies revealed that BBR-HB-CM accelerated TES healing in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Overall, our results demonstrated that BBR-HB-CM had high potential to promote rapid TES healing.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is a prevalent malignant neoplasm characterized by subtle early *** To investigate the correlation among serum lipid profiles,the triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index,and the atherosclerotic index(AI)in patients with ***,it explored the clinical diagnostic utility of combining serum lipids with cancer antigens in the context of *** A retrospective analysis encompassed 277 patients with CRC and 1034 healthy *** Following propensity score matching,patients with CRC exhibited significantly reduced levels of serum triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),as well as a diminished TyG ***,they displayed elevated AI levels compared to their healthy *** in advanced stages exhibited lower serum levels of TG,TC,and LDL-C compared to those in early *** with positive lymph node metastasis demonstrated reduced levels of TG,LDL-C,and the TyG *** operating characteristic analysis revealed that the combination of the TyG index,carcinoembryonic antigen,and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 yielded the highest positive prediction rate for CRC at 75.3%.CONCLUSION Preoperative serum lipid profiles exhibit a robust association with patients with *** concurrent assessment of multiple serum lipids and cancer antigens effectively enhances the diagnostic accuracy for CRC.

Phonon-mediated superconductivity in orthorhombic XS(X=Nb,Ta or W)

The unique three-dimensional orthorhombic NbS(o-NbS)compound synthesized in 1969 has recently been experimentally confirmed to be a superconductor[***.B 108174517(2023)].However,there is currently no theoretical research on its superconducting *** this work,we investigate the superconducting properties of o-Nb S from first-principles *** on the Eliashberg equation,it is found that the superconductivity mainly originates from the coupling between the electrons of Nb-4d orbitals and the vibrations of Nb atoms in the low-frequency region and those of S atoms in the high-frequency region.A superconducting transition temperature(T_c)of 10.7 K is obtained,which is close to the experimental value and higher than most transition metal chalcogenides(TMCs).The calculated thermodynamic properties in the superconducting state,such as specific heat,energy gap,isotope coefficient,etc.,also indicate that o-NbS is a conventional phonon-mediated *** results are consistent with recent experimental reports and provide a good understanding of the superconducting mechanism of o-Nb ***,the TMCs of o-TaS and o-WS are also investigated;these belong to the same and neighboring groups of Nb,and we find that o-TaS and o-WS are also phonon-mediated superconductors with T_c of 8.9 K and 7.2 K,respectively.

Neuron-derived clone 77 (Nur77) is a member of the NR4A subfamily that plays critical roles in apoptosis, survival, proliferation, autophagy, angiogenesis, inflammatory responses, DNA repair, glycolipid metabolism and energy consumption. The deregulation of Nur77 signalling often relates to various serious diseases, including cancer and non-cancer diseases. A systematic review is necessary for the better understanding of Nur77 in clinical treatment. In this article, we comprehensively conclude the lipid regulation function and expression of Nur77, and its role in COPD. Finally, we prospect that development of drugs and clinical biochemical investigations targeting of Nur77 has considerable potential within healthcare.

Hydrochemistry Predominantly Shapes the Unique Nitrogen-Fixing Bacterial Communities in Tibetan Hot Springs

The Tibetan Plateau has a large number of hot springs with varying temperatures and hydrochemistry,high elevation,and limited nitrogenous ***-fixing bacteria(NFB)can fix N_(2)to form ammonia and thus provide bioavailable ***,there is limited knowledge about the distribution of NFB and its influencing factors in Tibetan hot ***,we measured hydrochemical variables of the hot springs with a wide temperature range(32–77°C)in the Qucai and Daggyai geothermal zones on the Tibetan Plateau and investigated the composition of NFB using high-throughput sequencing of 16SrRNA and nif H *** Cl^(-)/SO_(4)^(2-)ratio in Qucai hot springs was higher than that in Daggyai,indicating that Qucai and Daggyai hot springs were more affected by the supply of liquid and gaseous phases,*** NFB communities consisted predominantly of Nirtospirae,Chloroflexi,Deltaproteobacteria and an unidentified clade,with the last three acting as the main NFB with over 42%of the communities(the proportions are significantly larger than those found in hot springs of other geothermal regions).This demonstrates the uniqueness of NFB communities in Tibetan hot *** richness was limited by temperature in the studied Tibetan hot springs and was significantly lower than in low-elevation geothermal *** NFB community was predominantly affected by hydrochemistry,in contrast to the entire prokaryotic community,which was primarily influenced by *** study expands our current understanding of NFB distribution and diversity as well as biogeochemical process in geothermal spring environments.

Background:Resilience is crucial for medical college students to thrive in the highly stressful environment of medical ***,the prevalence of problematic internet use(PIU)in this population may negatively impact their *** study investigated the influence of problematic online gaming(PG)and problematic social media use(PSMU)on the resilience of medical college students in ***:A sample of 5075 first-year medical college students from four Chinese universities was *** served as the independent variable,resilience as the dependent variable,fatigue as the mediator,and PSMU as the *** equation modeling was conducted using LISREL ***,a moderated mediation model was evaluated using the jAMM module in jamovi ***:The study’s findings revealed significant negative correlations between resilience and the variables of PG,PSMU,and *** mediated the relationship between PG and resilience(B=−0.04,95%CI=[−0.05,−0.03]).PSMU moderated the direct relationship between PG and resilience with the interaction term PG×PSMU significant(B=−0.004,t=−6.501,p<0.001)and the first stage(PG→fatigue)of the mediation with PG×PSMU significant(B=0.055,t=8.351,p<0.001).The detrimental effects of PG on resilience were more pronounced among individuals with lower levels of ***:This study concluded that addressing PIU,particularly PG,is essential for fostering resilience in medical college *** PSMU itself is maladaptive,the underlying social media engagement may serve a protective role through social support in mitigating the adverse effects of PG on resilience.

目的:探讨人类乳头瘤病毒(HPV)感染与宫颈癌及癌前病变的关系,并提出相应的干预措施.方法:2013年1～12月选取兵团四师妇女为研究对象,对30 ～ 60岁妇女进行HPV检测及阴道镜检查筛查宫颈癌及癌前病变(子宫颈上皮内瘤变,CIN).结果:筛查兵团四师女性20 107例,HPV阳性者3 862例(19.21％),宫颈癌及癌前病变27例(0.13％).HPV阳性者中宫颈癌及癌前病变病变检出率明显高于HPV阴性者;以病理组织学诊断为金标准,评价HPV检测对预测宫颈癌及癌前病变的临床价值,其敏感度为81.48％,特异度为80.87％,阳性预测值为19.10％,阴性预测值为99.43％.结论:HPV感染与宫颈癌及癌前病变有着密切的相关性,把HPV感染者作为高危人群进行长期定期检查对预防和控制宫颈癌及癌前病变有着积极有效的作用;健康人群的普查对宫颈癌及癌前病变的早发现、早治疗起着至关重要的作用,应加强健康教育,促进健康人群自觉参与宫颈癌筛查.

热舒适度是衡量室内环境质量和影响人类健康的重要指标之一,是建筑、空调控制等系统智能化的重要参考依据,同时能够有效降低建筑热环境控制的能源需求.目前可穿戴设备如智能手环、柔性传感器等已广泛应用,可构建人体的健康大数据.但由于存在个体差异因素,不同个体对相同热环境所表现的生理热反应不同,基于单一个人的热舒适模型难以对群体热状态实现有效地预测.考虑到以往研究样本量相对较小、模型复杂难以部署等局限性,本文建立人工气候室,利用环境传感器和可穿戴设备收集了60名受试者的热舒适数据,采用机器学习实现人体热舒适度建模与预测.研究考虑身高、体重、性别等个体差异因素,采用XGBoost、随机森林和SVC共3种机器学习算法,得到了基于人体生理参数的增强型预测热态模型并对热舒适度进行分类.结果表明:对皮肤温度及其梯度进行归一化处理发现,归一化过程能够将冷不舒适、舒适、热不舒适3种状态拉开,有利于SVC算法在高维空间寻找最优超平面,对特征进行分类.对比归一化前后随机森林模型的特征重要性发现,归一化过程降低了体重、身高、性别等个体差异对模型预测效果的影响程度;在XGBoost、随机森林和SVC这3种机器学习算法中,SVC在测试集上的准确率和3种热状态的AUC值都高于XGBoost和随机森林,其分类效果和泛化能力最好.
