Exploring NiCo2S4 nanosheets arrays by hydrothermal conversion for enhanced high-rate batteries

Highly cross-linked porous NiCo2S4 nanosheets arrays are synthesized by a high-efficiency hydrothermal conversion from the preformed electrodeposited NiCo2O4 arrays. By using thioacetamide as the sulfur source, the electrodeposited NiCo2O4 is directly converted into NiCo2O4 nanosheets arrays without hightemperature sulfurization. Higher porosity and better electrical conductivity are obtained for the NiCo2O4 nanosheets arrays. In addition, reduced diffusion paths of electrons/ions and alleviated volume expansion during cycling are achieved due to the unique porous structure of NiCo2S4. Consequently, as the cathode of alkaline batteries, the obtained NiCo2S4 nanosheets arrays show better electrochemical performance with a high specific capacity(83.5 m Ah g-1 at 0.5 A g-1) and better cycling stability(capacity retention of 93% after 5000 cycles) than the NiCo2O4 counterpart arrays(40.3 mAh g-1 at 0.5 A g-1). Our work demonstrates that sulfurization on binary metal oxides can greatly enhance electrochemical performance and shows a new way for construction of advanced electrodes for high-rate batteries.

Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B4(LILRB4)is an inhibitory receptor in the LILR family mainly expressed on normal and malignant human cells of myeloid origin.By binding to ligands,LILRB4 is activated and subsequently recruits adaptors to cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine inhibitory motifs to initiate different signaling cascades,thus playing an important role in physiological and pathological conditions,including autoimmune diseases,microbial infections,and cancers.In normal myeloid cells,LILRB4 regulates intrinsic cell activation and differentiation.In disease-associated or malignant myeloid cells,LILRB4 is significantly correlated with disease severity or patient survival and suppresses T cells,thereby participating in the pathogenesis of various diseases.In summary,LILRB4 functions as an immune checkpoint on myeloid cells and may be a promising therapeutic target for various human immune diseases,especially for cancer immunotherapy.

Hydrogen-induced optical properties of FC/Pd/Mg films:Roles of grain size and grain boundary

Nanomodification is an effective method to solve the thermodynamic and kinetics limitation of Magnesium(Mg)-based materials,which shows promising application prospects in hydrogen energy field.However,the role of the grain size of pure Mg on the hydrogen-induced performance of the hydrogen sensitive thin film under cyclic hydrogen loading/unloading process at room temperature has rarely been studied systematically.To study the relationship between the structure of Mg layer and the hydrogen-induced optical performance of fluorocarbon(FC)/Pd/Mg films,a series of Mg with different internal structures were prepared by changing the velocity of sputtered atoms under different sputtering powers.The FC/Pd/Mg(40 W)film with fine nanostructure showed faster hydrogenation/dehydrogenation kinetics as well as a larger optical conversion range,which can be attributed to the large population of grain boundaries with high grain boundary energy and more hydrogen diffusion path.As sputtering power gradually increased from 40 W to 300 W,the grain inside films grew larger.The FC/Pd/Mg(300 W)film had more columnar-like regions inside and less grain boundaries with lower energy contributing to slower hydrogen absorption/desorption kinetics and lower optical conversion range.

The advancement of power-type lithium ion batteries（LIBs） mainly depends on the construction of electrodes with superior electronic & ionic conductivity. In this work, a synergistic combination of nitrogen doped LiTiO（N-LTO） nanoparticles and highly conductive vertical graphene（VG） skeleton is proposed to obtain ultrafast Li ion storage performance via a facile hydrothermal-nitridation method. The as-synthesized composite nanosheets are composed of interconnected N-LTO shell and VG core to form the final N-LTO/VG core-shell arrays, which are systematically studied as the anodes of LIBs. In virtue of the positive synergistic effect of high conductive VG backbone and nitrogen doping, overwhelming advantages including high specific surface area, superb structural stability and enhanced conductivity are achieved in the well-designed N-LTO/VG electrodes. Accordingly, the as-synthesized N-LTO/VG electrode shows outstanding high rate capacity(142.5 m Ah gat 20 C) and superior long-term cycling stability（capacity retention of 98.9% after 10000 cycles at 5 C）, better than LTO/VG electrode without N doping.Our research provides a new strategy for the synthesis of high-performance hybrid electrodes for application in power-type LIBs.

Speed Measurement Feasibility by Eddy Current Effect in the High-Speed MFL Testing

It is known that eddy current effect has a great influence on magnetic flux leakage testing(MFL).Usually,contacttype encoder wheels are used to measure MFL testing speed to evaluate the effect and further compensate testing signals.This speed measurement method is complicated,and inevitable abrasion and occasional slippage will reduce the measurement accuracy.In order to solve this problem,based on eddy current effect due to the relative movement,a speed measurement method is proposed,which is contactless and simple.In the high-speed MFL testing,eddy current induced in the specimen will cause an obvious modification to the applied field.This modified field,which is measured by Hall sensor,can be utilized to reflect the moving speed.Firstly,the measurement principle is illustrated based on Faraday’s law.Then,dynamic finite element simulations are conducted to investigate the modified magnetic field distribution.Finally,laboratory experiments are performed to validate the feasibility of the proposed method.The results show that Bmz(r1)and Bmx(r2)have a linear relation with moving speed,which could be used as an alternative measurement parameter.

Developing cost-effective advanced carbon anode is critical for innovation of sodium ion batteries. Herein, we develop a powerful combined method for rational synthesis of free-standing binder-free carbon nanospheres arrays via chemical bath plus hydrothermal process. Impressively,carbon spheres with diameters of 150-250 nm are randomly interconnected with each other forming highly porous arrays. Positive advantages including large porosity, high surface and strong mechanical stability are combined in the carbon nanospheres arrays. The obtained carbon nanospheres arrays are tested as anode material for sodium ion batteries(SIBs) and deliver a high reversible capacity of 102 mAh g^(-1) and keep a capacity retention of 95% after 100 cycles at a current density of 0.25 A g^(-1) and good rate performance(65 mAh g^(-1) at a high current density of 2 A g^(-1)). The good electrochemical performance is attributed to the stable porous nanosphere structure with fast ion/electron transfer characteristics.

Carbonaceous and alternative supporting materials for platinum(Pt) and palladium(Pd) have been explored for the cathodic electrocatalysis in low-temperature fuel cells. Pd and Pt are widely used for catalysis owing to their remarkable electrocatalytic activity toward water splitting and fuel cell reactions. Supporting materials play a paramount role in defining electrocatalytic properties such as durability, selectivity, and activity. The conventional supporting material such as carbon black is unable to fit all the requirements under the severe operating conditions of fuel cells due to its poor corrosion resistance and limited mass transport of fuels to active catalyst sites. Nowadays the scientific research is being concentrated on devising different altered carbonic and carbonfree supporting materials for catalysts to improve the catalytic activity, stability, and selectivity of noble metal electrocatalysts. Lately, Pt, Pd and their alloy catalysts supported on modified carbonaceous and carbon-free materials have attracted solid interest owing to their prominent characteristics contributing to the remarkable fuel cell efficacy. Therefore, it is reasonable to explore this theme, regarding a variety of supporting materials,their advantages, drawbacks and future perspectives. In this mini-review, we selectively summarize recent advancements on several types of key supporting materials: carbon(graphene, carbon nanotubes, mesoporous carbon, and doped carbon nanostructures), non-carbon(transition metals oxides, borides, nitrides, and carbides)and hybrid nanocomposites.

The coordinated operation and comprehensive utilization of multi-energy sources require systematic research.A multi-energy microgrid(MEMG)is a coupling system with multiple inputs and outputs.In this paper,a system model based on unified energy flows is proposed to describe the static relationship,and an analogue energy storage model is proposed to represent the time-dependency characteristics of energy transfer processes.Then,the optimal dispatching model of an MEMG is established as a mixed-integer linear programming(MILP)problem using piecewise linear approximation and convex relaxation.Finally,the system model and optimal dispatching method are validated in an MEMG,including district electricity,natural gas and heat supply,and renewable generation.The proposed model and method provide an effective way for the energy flow analysis and optimization of MEMGs.

Promotion effect of H2 pretreatment on CeO2 catalyst for NH3-SCR reaction

In this study, the promotion effect of H2 pretreatment on the SCR performance of CeO2 catalyst was investigated based on the characterization results of XRD, H2-TPR, Raman and in situ DRIFT techniques.Lower crystallinity, higher reducibility and surface acidity can be found on CeO2-H catalyst. The results of DRIFT study reveal that the pretreatment of CeO2 catalyst with H2 can facilitate the adsorption of NH3 and NOx species, while the adsorbed NOx is basically inactive in the NH3-SCR reaction. Moreover, the reaction mechanism of the NH3-SCR reaction over CeO2 catalyst is not changed by H2 pretreatment,which is mainly under the control of Eley-Rideal（E-R） mechanism, The enhanced SCR performance of CeO2-H catalyst is mainly due to the promoted NH3 adsorption and the subsequent facilitation of SCR reaction through E-R pathway.
