DPPS: A novel dual privacy-preserving scheme for enhancing query privacy in continuous location-based services

Since smartphones embedded with positioning systems and digital maps are widely used,location-based services(LBSs)are rapidly growing in popularity and providing unprecedented convenience in people’s daily lives;however,they also cause great concern about privacy leakage.In particular,location queries can be used to infer users’sensitive private information,such as home addresses,places of work and appointment locations.Hence,many schemes providing query anonymity have been proposed,but they typically ignore the fact that an adversary can infer real locations from the correlations between consecutive locations in a continuous LBS.To address this challenge,a novel dual privacy-preserving scheme(DPPS)is proposed that includes two privacy protection mechanisms.First,to prevent privacy disclosure caused by correlations between locations,a correlation model is proposed based on a hidden Markov model(HMM)to simulate users’mobility and the adversary’s prediction probability.Second,to provide query probability anonymity of each single location,an advanced k-anonymity algorithm is proposed to construct cloaking regions,in which realistic and indistinguishable dummy locations are generated.To validate the effectiveness and efficiency of DPPS,theoretical analysis and experimental verification are further performed on a real-life dataset published by Microsoft,i.e.,GeoLife dataset.

Liquid metals(LM) such as eutectic gallium-indium and gallium-indium-tin are important functional liquid-state metal materials with many unique properties, which have attracted wide attentions especially from soft robot area. Recently the amoeba-like transformations of LM on the graphite surface are discovered, which present a promising future for the design and assemble of self-fueled actuators with dendritically deformable body. It appears that the surface tension of the LM can be significantly reduced when it contacts graphite surface in alkaline solution. Clearly, the specific surface should play a vital role in inducing these intriguing behaviors, which is valuable and inspiring in soft robot design. However, the information regarding varied materials functions underlying these behaviors remains unknown. To explore the generalized effects of surface materials in those intriguing behavior, several materials including glass, graphite, nickel and copper oxides(CuO) were comparatively investigated as substrate surfaces.Important results were obtained that only LM amoeba transformations were observed on graphite and CuO surfaces. In order to identify the proper surface condition for LM transformation, the intrinsic properties of substrate surfaces, such as the surface charge and roughness, as well as the specific interaction with LM like wetting behavior and mutual locomotion etc., were characterized. The integrated results revealed that LM droplet appears more likely to deform on surfaces with higher positive surface charge density, higher roughness and less bubble generation on them. In addition, another surface material,CuOx, is identified to own similar ability to graphite, which is valuable in achieving amoeba-like transformation. Moreover, this study offers a fundamental understanding of the surface properties in realizing LM amoeba transformations, which would shed light on packing and structure design of liquid metal-based soft device within multi-material system.

To the Editor,Thymoma is a rare mediastinal tumor originating from thymic epithelial cells.1 The incidence of a paraneoplastic syndrome(PNS)with thymoma is approximately seven times higher than that with thymic carcinoma,with type B2 thymoma being the most common histological pattern.2 Hypercalcemia is the most common PNS in patients with malignant tumors,3 accounting for 30% of all cases.

Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B4(LILRB4)is an inhibitory receptor in the LILR family mainly expressed on normal and malignant human cells of myeloid origin.By binding to ligands,LILRB4 is activated and subsequently recruits adaptors to cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine inhibitory motifs to initiate different signaling cascades,thus playing an important role in physiological and pathological conditions,including autoimmune diseases,microbial infections,and cancers.In normal myeloid cells,LILRB4 regulates intrinsic cell activation and differentiation.In disease-associated or malignant myeloid cells,LILRB4 is significantly correlated with disease severity or patient survival and suppresses T cells,thereby participating in the pathogenesis of various diseases.In summary,LILRB4 functions as an immune checkpoint on myeloid cells and may be a promising therapeutic target for various human immune diseases,especially for cancer immunotherapy.

Heavy metals in maternal and cord blood in Beijing and their efficiency of placental transfer

This study aimed to determine the effect of exposure to heavy metals in pregnant women in Beijing, China. We also evaluated the association of these heavy metals with birth weight and length of newborns. We measured the levels of 10 heavy metals,including lead(Pb), titanium(Ti), manganese(Mn), nickel(Ni), cadmium(Cd), chromium(Cr), antimony(Sb), stannum(Sn), vanadium(V), and arsenic(As), in 156 maternal and cord blood pairs. An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry method was used for measurement. Pb, As, Ti, Mn, and Sb showed high detection rates(> 50%) in both maternal and cord blood. Fourteen(9%) mothers had blood Pb levels greater than the United States Center for Disease Control allowable threshold limit for children(50 μg/L).In prenatal exposure to these heavy metals, there was no significant association between any heavy metal and birth weight/length. Moreover, we estimated the placental transfer efficiency of each heavy metal, and the median placental transfer efficiency ranged from 49.6%(Ni) to 194%(Mn)(except for Cd and Sn). The level and detection rate of Cd in maternal blood were much higher than that in cord blood, which suggested that Cd had difficulty in passing the placental barrier. Prospective research should focus on the source and risk of heavy metals in non-occupationally exposed pregnant women in Beijing.

Autophagy,a conserved“self-eating”process for cellular homeostasis,plays a crucial role in the hepatitis B virus(HBV)life cycle,including viral assembly,envelopment,release,and degradation.1 Autophagy can also be hijacked by HBV for its persistence and survival.However,the association between HBV mutations and autophagy remains unclear.Herein,we found that an HBV surface antigen(HBsAg)mutation involving sL13H substitution impaired HBsAg expression and caused its abnormal distribution in vitro and in a hydrodynamic injection(HI)-based mouse model for acute HBV infection.The sL13H mutation also decreased autophagosome formation and inhibited autophagic flux.Further mechanistic analysis revealed that sL13H suppresses HBV-induced autophagy initiation by inhibiting the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha kinase 3(EIF2AK3/PERK)eeukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha(EIF2S1/eIF2a)eautophagy related(ATG)5/12 axis.Therefore,our findings reveal a potential role for HBV mutations in manipulating host autophagic flux for virus persistence and pathogenesis in chronic hepatitis B.

Wireless Body Area Networks(WBANs)refer to small sensor network that consists of sensor devices mounted on the surface of the body or implanted in the body,as such networks are employed to harvest physiological data of the human body or to act as an assistant regulator of several specific physiological indicators of the human body.The sensor devices transmit the harvested human physiological data to the local node via a public channel.Before transmitting data,the sensor device and the local node should perform mutual authentication and key agreement.It is proposed in this paper a secure mutual authentication scheme of blockchain-based in WBANs.To analyze the security of this scheme,formal security analysis,and informal security analysis are used,then the computation and communication costs are compared with those of the relevant schemes.Relevant experimental results reveal that the proposed scheme exhibit more effective control over energy consumption and promising.

Infrared(IR)solar cells are promising devices for improving the power conversion efficiency(PCE)of conventional solar cells by expanding the utilization region of the sunlight spectrum to near-infrared range.IR solar cells based on colloidal quantum dots(QDs)have attracted extensive attention due to the widely tunable absorption spectrum controlled by dot size and the unique solution processibility.However,the trade-off in QD solar cells between light absorption and photo-generated carrier collection has limited the further improvement of PCE.Here,we present high-performance PbS QD IR solar cells resulting from the combination of boosted light absorption and optimized carrier extraction.By constructing an optical resonance cavity,the light absorption is significantly enhanced in the range of 1,150–1,300 nm at a relatively thin photoactive layer.Meanwhile,the thin photoactive layer facilitates efficient carrier extraction.Consequently,the PbS QD IR solar cells exhibit a highly efficient photoelectric conversion in the IR region,resulting in a high IR PCE of 1.3%which is comparable to the highest value of solution-processed IR solar cells based on PbSe QDs.These results demonstrate that constructing an optical resonance cavity is a reasonable strategy for effective conversion of photons in the devices aiming at light in a relatively narrow wavelength range,such as IR solar cells and narrow band photodetectors.

Tailoring a rational structure to control the huge volume variation is practical in regulating alkali-ion battery performance on the basis of the anisotropic properties of crystallized anode materials.Here,a double-serrated orthorhombic antimony oxide(Sb_(2)O_(3))microbelt was prepared by a thermally induced recrystallization/sublimation process.In situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM),in situ X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),and ex situ scanning electron microscopy(SEM)measurements demonstrate that Sb_(2)O_(3)microbelts exhibit a quasi-one-dimensional expansion perpendicular to the belt(along the[100]direction)during sodiation.The unconstrained microbelt surface space can appropriately accommodate the oriented volume variation.Thus,Sb_(2)O_(3)microbelts exhibit enhanced cycling and rate performance in half-cell sodium-ion batteries samples.Via support of reduced graphene oxide(RGO),Sb_(2)O_(3)@RGOcomposites deliver good rate capability(312.3 mAh g−1 at 3 A g−1)for sodium-ion full-cell batteries and good cycling performance(473.9 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1 after 100 cycles)for half-cell potassium-ion batteries.In situ Raman measurements reveal that the conversion/alloying-type Sb_(2)O_(3)anode undergoes a fully reversible alloying reaction and partially reversible conversion mechanism,which explains its irreversible capacity during the first cycle.The delicate structural design and clarification of the alkali-ion storage mechanisms facilitate the development of Sb_(2)O_(3)anodes for energy storage applications.
