Color tunable and white light emitting via energy transfer in single-phase BiOCl:Er^(3+),Sm^(3+) phosphors for WLEDs

BiOCl crystal shows potential as efficient optical host due to its special layered structure. Here,the luminescence properties of the Er^3＋/Sm^3＋ co-doped BiOCl phosphors as single-phase phosphors were reported. Upon near ultraviolet excitation（NUV, 380 nm corresponding the ^4 I15/2→ ^4 G11/2 transition of Er^3＋ ions）, the phosphors exhibit the efficient characteristic emissions of Er^3＋ and Sm^3＋ ions simultaneously. The energy transfer（ET） from Er^3＋ to Sm^3＋ ions in the layered crystals has been validated by the variation of emission intensities and decay lifetimes respectively, which is ascribed to be a dipoledipole interaction. By virtue of the ET behavior and increasing Sm^3＋ ion concentration, the enhancing emission intensity of Sm^3＋ and the tunability of emission color from yellowish-green（0.318, 0.420） to white（0.343, 0.347） are realized. The results of our work indicate that the Er^3＋/Sm^3＋ co-doped BiOCI phosphor has a promising application serving as single component white emitting phosphors for NUV excited WLEDs.

Tm3+-doped transparent oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing BaYbxY((1-x))F5 nanocrystals were prepared via high temperature solid phase melting method,of which up-conversion emission is achieved by the Yb3+-mediated energy transfer *** required photon number of Tm3+ions emissions in BaYbxY(1-x)F5 nanocrystals was calculated through the luminescence spectra,revealing the strong dependence of energy transfer mechanism on Yb3+ions ***,based on the fluore scence intensity ratio technology,the effect of different energy transfer mechanism on the temperature sensitivity was investigated by the temperature-dependent luminescence intensity of thermally coupled energy levels of Tm3+:1G4(a),1G4(b).The obtained sensitivity decreases with the increase of Yb3+ions content,which is mainly attributed to the changes in photon absorption process of Tm^3+:1G4(b).

Transparent glass has been identified as a vital medium for three-dimensional(3D)optical information storage and multi-level ***,it has remained a challenge for directly writing 3D patterning inside a transparent glass using semiconductor blue laser instead of high-cost femtosecond ***,we demonstrate that rare earth ions doped transparent glass can be used as 3D optical information storage and data encryption medium based on their reversible transmittance and photoluminescence *** color of tungsten phosphate glass doped with rare earth ions change reversibly from light yellow to blue upon alternating 473 nm laser illumination and temperature stimulation,resulting in the reversible luminescence *** information data could be repeatedly written and erased in arbitrary 3D space of transparent glass,not only showing the ability of the excellent reproducibility and storage capacity,but also opening opportunities in information *** present work expands the application fields of luminescent glass,and it is conducive to develop a novel 3D data storage and information encryption media.

A series of mono-dispersed hexagon NaGdF_4:Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)@NaGdF_4 core-shell nanoparticles with different shell thickness were synthesized via a co-precipitation method. Nanoparticles with high upconversion fluorescent emissions result in large signal-to-noise ratio, which guarantees the accuracy of the sensitivity. Besides, the maximum sensitivity of these NPs as detection film increases first and then decreases with the shell thickness increasing. When the shell thickness is 2.3 nm(NaGdF_4-2), the maximum sensitivity(0.69959 ppm^(-1)) is reached. A large degree of overlap between the rhodamine B absorption band and the Er^(3+) green emission bands ensures that the NaGdF_4:Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)@NaGdF_4 nanoparticles can be used as fluorescent probe to detect the concentration of rhodamine B based on fluorescent intensity ratio technology. The linear relationship between the rhodamine B concentration and the intensity ratio(R) of green and red emission intensity(I_(S+H) and I_F) were studied systematically. The result shows that the maximum sensitivity can be obtained in low concentration rhodamine B(<4 ppm), which is lower than the reported minimum detection concentration. Thus, the ultra-high sensitivity detection by NaGdF_4:Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)@NaGdF_4 core-shell upconversion nanoparticles in low concentration can be realized,which provides promising applications in bio-detection filed.

For better use of solar energy,the development of efficient broadband photocatalyst has attracted extraordinary *** this study,a ternary composite consisting of Sr_(2)LaF_(7)∶Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)upconversion(UC)nanocrystals and Bi nanoparticles loaded BiOBr nanosheets with oxygen vacancies(OVs,SLFBB)was designed and synthesized by multi-step solvent-thermal *** of in-situ formation of Bi nanoparticles and OVs in BiOBr/Sr_(2)LaF_(7)∶Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)composites(SFLB)are *** Bi metal and OVs enhanced the light-harvesting capacity in the region of visible-near-infrared(Vis-NIR),and promoted the separation of electron-hole(e-/h+)***,the surface plasmon resonance(SPR)effect of Bi metal can improve the energy transfer from Sr_(2)LaF_(7)∶Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)to BiOBr via nonradiative energy transfer process,resulting in enhancing the light utilization from up-converting NIR into Vis *** to the synergistic effects of UC function,SPR and OVs,the SFLBB exhibited obviously enhanced photocatalytic ability for the degradation of BPA with a rate of 8.9×10^(-3) min^(-1),which is about 2.78 times higher than 3.2×10^(-3) min^(-1) of BiOBr(BOB)under UV-Vis-NIR light *** work provides a novel strategy for the project of high-efficiency Bismuth-based broadband photocatalysts,which is helpful to fur-ther understand the mechanism of enhanced photocatalysis by UC function and plasmonic effect.

Real-time stress sensing based on mechanoluminescence materials has been widely studied for structural health monitoring of bridges,buildings,high-pressure vessels,and other infrastructure ***,this approach is difficult to detect the stress information of closed mechanical ***,we propose a delayed stress memory strategy to record the stress information of closed mechanical structure by the flexible film composed with CaAl_(2)O_(4):Eu^(2+),Sm^(3+)*** the force is applied,the optical information on the film can be read out by the near-infrared laser after a period of time without real-time monitoring,and the stress distribution information of bearings and gears in the engine can be ***,the regulation of trap depth from 0.662 to 1.042 eV allows the captured carriers to remain in the traps for a long time without being released as long persistent luminescence,which is beneficial to the delayed stress ***,this work promotes the application prospect of mechanoluminescence materials in stress sensing,and provides a new idea to record the stress information of closed mechanical structures.

Near infrared to near infrared(NIR-NIR)photo-stimulated persistent luminescence(PSPL)has shown excellent potential in high-resolution bioimaging for deep ***,the PSPL in NIR-Ⅱregion(900-1700 nm)is still *** this work,Ca_(2)Ga_(2)GeO_(7):Yb^(3+),Tb^(3+)(CGGYT)phosphor with unique lowdimensional crystal structure was synthesized by high-temperature solid-state *** to the carriers transferring from deep traps to shallow ones induced by low energy light,the 978 nm PSPL originating from ^(2)F_(5/2) to ^(2)F_(7/2) transition of Yb^(3+)induced by multimode stimulating(980 nm or WLED)is successfully realized after pre-excited by UV *** NIR PSPL of the specimen can be repeatedly stimulated after placed in dark for 12 ***,the results indicate that codoping with Tb^(3+)can significantly enhance the NIR-ⅡPSPL owing to the quantum cutting persistent energy transfer(QC PET)from Tb^(3+)to Yb^(3+).Our study points to a new direction for the future development of multimode PSPL materials for bioimaging or multimode optical storage applications.

Photo-stimulated luminescence(PSL) is the process in which trapped charges are released by photons and produce luminescence through recombination. The variegated optical characteristics of photostimulated phosphors(PSPs) have drawn increasing attention and a large body of work encompassing mechanism and application of PSPs has been addressed. The optical data storage capacity resulting from abundant defect states enables PSPs to be applied to information storage. Moreover, PSPs provide potential application for anti-counterfeiting, as color changes due to the tunneling process. Recently, near infrared(NIR) light PSPs have been developed, exhibiting enormous potential for in vivo bio-imaging, as the stable and high noise-signal ratio characteristic of PSL. In this review, we devote to introducing the development and process of PSPs, and the challenge and future advance have also been demonstrated.
