Alignment efficient image-sentence retrieval considering transferable cross-modal representation learning

Traditional image-sentence cross-modal retrieval methods usually aim to learn consistent representations of heterogeneous modalities,thereby to search similar instances in one modality according to the query from another modality in *** basic assumption behind these methods is that parallel multi-modal data(i.e.,different modalities of the same example are aligned)can be obtained in *** other words,the image-sentence cross-modal retrieval task is a supervised task with the alignments as ***,in many real-world applications,it is difficult to realign a large amount of parallel data for new scenarios due to the substantial labor costs,leading the non-parallel multi-modal data and existing methods cannot be used *** the other hand,there actually exists auxiliary parallel multi-modal data with similar semantics,which can assist the non-parallel data to learn the consistent ***,in this paper,we aim at“Alignment Efficient Image-Sentence Retrieval”(AEIR),which recurs to the auxiliary parallel image-sentence data as the source domain data,and takes the non-parallel data as the target domain *** single-modal transfer learning,AEIR learns consistent image-sentence cross-modal representations of target domain by transferring the alignments of existing parallel ***,AEIR learns the image-sentence consistent representations in source domain with parallel data,while transferring the alignment knowledge across domains by jointly optimizing a novel designed cross-domain cross-modal metric learning based constraint with intra-modal domain adversarial ***,we can effectively learn the consistent representations for target domain considering both the structure and semantic ***,extensive experiments on different transfer scenarios validate that AEIR can achieve better retrieval results comparing with the baselines.

Variability Analysis for a Two-station Queueing Network in Heavy Traffic with Arrival Processes Driven by Queues

The law of the iterated logarithm(LIL)for the performance measures of a two-station queueing network with arrivals modulated by independent queues is developed by a strong approximation *** convenience,two arrival processes modulated by queues comprise the external system,all others are belong to the internal *** is well known that the exogenous arrival has a great influence on the asymptotic variability of performance measures in *** the considered queueing network in heavy traffic,we get all the LILs for the queue length,workload,busy time,idle time and departure processes,and present them by some simple functions of the primitive *** LILs tell us some interesting insights,such as,the LILs of busy and idle times are zero and they reflect a small variability around their fluid approximations,the LIL of departure has nothing to do with the arrival process,both of the two phenomena well explain the service station’s situation of being busy all the *** external system shows us a distinguishing effect on the performance measures:an underloaded(overloaded,critically loaded)external system affects the internal system through its arrival(departure,arrival and departure together).In addition,we also get the strong approximation of the network as an auxiliary result.

Fine classification of rice paddy using multitemporal compact polarimetric SAR C band data based on machine learning methods

Rice is an important food crop for human *** distinguishing different varieties and sowing methods of rice on a large scale can provide more accurate information for rice growth monitoring,yield estimation,and phenological monitoring,which has significance for the development of modern *** polarimetric(CP)synthetic aperture radar(SAR)provides multichannel information and shows great potential for rice monitoring and ***,the use of machine learning methods to build classification models is a controversial *** this paper,the advantages of CP SAR data,the powerful learning ability of machine learning,and the important factors of the rice growth cycle were taken into account to achieve high-precision and fine classification of rice ***,CP SAR data were simulated by using the seven temporal RADARSAT-2 C-band data ***,20-two CP SAR parameters were extracted from each of the seven temporal CP SAR data *** addition,we fully considered the change degree of CP SAR parameters on a time scale(ΔCP_(DoY)).Six machine learning methods were employed to carry out the fine classification of rice *** results show that the classification methods of machine learning based on multitemporal CP SAR data can obtain better results in the fine classification of rice paddies by considering the parameters ofΔCP_(DoY).The overall accuracy is greater than 95.05%,and the Kappa coefficient is greater than *** them,the random forest(RF)and support vector machine(SVM)achieve the best results,with an overall accuracy reaching 97.32%and 97.37%,respectively,and Kappa coefficient values reaching 0.965 and 0.966,*** the two types of rice paddies,the average accuracy of the transplant hybrid(T-H)rice paddy is greater than 90.64%,and the highest accuracy is 95.95%.The average accuracy of direct-sown japonica(D-J)rice paddy is greater than 92.57%,and the highest accuracy is 96.13%.

Thelytokous Diglyphus wani:A more promising biological control agent against agromyzid leafminers than its arrhenotokous counterpart

Diglyphus wani(Hymenoptera:Eulophidae)is a dominant parasitoid that attacks agromyzid *** reproductive types occur in ***:arrhenotoky(in which virgin females produce only male offspring;and virgin females mate with males to produce bisexual offspring)and thelytoky(in which virgin females produce female offspring).As a potential biological control agent,exploring the differences in the relevant biological parameters of both strains is *** this study,comparisons between the two strains of *** were performed by evaluating the life table and host-killing *** thelytokous strain exhibited significantly better life table parameters than its arrhenotokous *** values for the intrinsic rate of increase,finite rate of increase,net reproductive rate,and fecundity were found in the thelytokous *** thelytokous strain also performed better than the arrhenotokous strain in terms of net parasitism,host-feeding,host-stinging,and total host-killing ***,populations of the thelytokous strain could grow fast and kill more *** conclusion,the thelytokous strain of *** may be the more promising biological agent against agromyzid leafminers compared to its arrhenotokous ***,since the thelytokous strain of *** is only known to produce females,it should be given priority in future biocontrol applications owing to the cost savings of breeding only females.

Brainstem auditory evoked potential combined with high resolution cranial base CT can optimize the diagnosis of auditory nerve injury

Purpose:Auditory nerve injury is one of the most common nerve injury complications of skull base ***,there is currently a lack of auxiliary examination methods for its direct *** purpose of this study was to find a more efficient and accurate means of diagnosis for auditory nerve ***:Through retrospectively analyzing the results of brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP)and high-resolution CT(HRCT)in 37 patients with hearing impairment following trauma from January 1,2018 to July 31,2020,the role of the two inspection methods in the diagnosis of auditory nerve injury was *** criteria were patient had a clear history of trauma and unilateral hearing impairment after trauma;while exclusion criteria were:(1)severe patient with a Glasgow coma scale score<5 because these patients were classified as severe head injury and admitted to the intensive care unit,(2)patient in the subacute stage admitted 72 h after trauma,and(3)patient with prior hearing impairment before *** to Goodman's classification of hearing impairment,the patients were divided into low/medium/severe injury *** addition,patients were divided into HRCT-positive and negative groups for further investigation with their BAEP *** positive rates of BEAP for each group were observed,and the results were analyzed by Chi-square test(p<0.05,regarded as statistical difference).Results:A total of 37 patients were included,including 21 males and 16 *** of them were hospitalized patients with GCS score of 6-15 at the time of *** BAEP positive rate in the medium and severe injury group was 100%,which was significantly higher than that in the low injury group(27.27%)(p<0.01).The rate of BEAP positivity was significantly higher in the HRCT-positive group(20/30,66.7%)than in the HRCT-negative group(1/7,14.3%)(p<0.05).Twenty patients(54.05%)were both positive for BEAP and HRCT test,and considered to have auditory nerve ***

Invasive alien ants(IAAs)are among the most aggressive,competitive,and widespread invasive alien species(IAS)*** auropunctata,the greatest IAAs threat in the Pacific region and listed in“100 of the world’s worst IAS”,has established itself in many countries and on islands *** populations of *** were recently reported in southeastern China,representing a tremendous potential threat to China’s agricultural,economic,environmental,public health,and social *** the potential geographical distribution(PGD)of *** in China can illustrate areas that may potentially face invasion ***,based on the global distribution records of *** and bioclimatic variables,we predicted the geographical distribution pattern of *** in China under the effects of climate change using an ensemble model(EM).Our findings showed that artificial neural network(ANN),flexible discriminant analysis(FDA),gradient boosting model(GBM),Random Forest(RF)were more accurate than categorical regression tree analysis(CTA),generalized linear model(GLM),maximum entropy model(MaxEnt)and surface distance envelope(SRE).The mean TSS values of ANN,FDA,GBM,and RF were 0.820,0.810,0.843,and 0.857,respectively,and the mean AUC values were 0.946,0.954,0.968,and 0.979,*** mean TSS and AUC values of EM were 0.882 and 0.972,respectively,indicating that the prediction results with EM were more reliable than those with the single *** PGD of *** in China is mainly located in southern China under current and future climate *** climate change,the PGD of *** in China will expand to higher-latitude *** annual temperature range(bio7)and mean temperature of the warmest quarter(bio10)were the most significant variables affecting the PGD of *** in *** PGD of *** in China was mainly attributed to temperature variables,such as the annual temperature range(bio7

High temperatures do not decrease biocontrol potential for the host-killing parasitoid Neochrysocharis formosa(Hymenoptera:Eulophidae)on agromyzid leafminers

Temperature, as a critical abiotic factor, might influence the effectiveness of biological control by parasitoids in hostparasitoid systems. In this study, Neochrysocharis formosa(Westwood), a larval endoparasitoid, is used to investigate the efficacy of biological control on a vegetable agriculture pest, Liriomyza sativae Blanchard, reared on kidney bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.), at four constant temperatures(26, 29, 32, and 35℃) under laboratory conditions. Our results show that high temperatures(29, 32, and 35℃) do not significantly affect lifetime host-killing events of female adults by increased daily host-killing events compared to temperature of 26℃, although their lifespans decrease with an increase in temperatures. Each life-history trait of female adults(lifespan, parasitism, stinging, or non-reproductive host-killing events) present a linear relation with temperatures and host-feeding events, respectively. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of biocontrol efficacy of parasitoid N. formosa against agromyzid leafminers at high-temperature seasons or environments.
