Objective To evaluate the disinfection of wastewater in China. Methods During the SARS epidemic occurred in Beijing, a study of different disinfection methods used in the main local wastewater plants including means of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone, and ultraviolet was carried out in our laboratory. The residual coliform, bacteria and trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids were determined after disinfection. Results Chlorine had fairly better efficiency on microorganism inactivation than chlorine dioxide with the same dosage. Formation of THMs and HAAs does not exceed the drinking water standard. UV irradiation had good efficiency on microorganism inactivation and good future of application in China. Organic material and ammonia nitrogen was found to be significant on inactivation and DBPs formation. Conclusion Chlorine disinfection seems to be the best available technology for coliform and bacteria inactivation. And it is of fairly low toxicological hazard due to the transformation of monochloramine.

Estimation of future water resources of Xiangjiang River Basin with VIC model under multiple climate scenarios

Variation trends of water resources in the Xiangjiang River Basin over the coming decades have been investigated using the variable infiltration capacity(VIC) model and 14 general circulation models'(GCMs') projections under the representative concentration pathway(RCP4.5) scenario. Results show that the Xiangjiang River Basin will probably experience temperature rises during the period from 2021 to2050, with precipitation decrease in the 2020 s and increase in the 2030 s. The VIC model performs well for monthly discharge simulations with better performance for hydrometric stations on the main stream of the Xiangjiang River than for tributary catchments. The simulated annual discharges are significantly correlated to the recorded annual discharges for all the eight selected target stations. The Xiangjiang River Basin may experience water shortages induced by climate change. Annual water resources of the Xiangjiang River Basin over the period from 2021 to 2050 are projected to decrease by 2.76% on average within the range from-7.81% to 7.40%. It is essential to consider the potential impact of climate change on water resources in future planning for sustainable utilization of water resources.

Focused energy delivery(FED) is a technique that can precisely bring energy to the specific region,which arouses wide attention in precision electronic warfare(PREW).This paper first proposes a joint optimization model with respect to the locations of the array and the transmitted signals to improve the performance of *** the problem is nonconvex and NP-hard,particle swarm optimization(PSO) is adopted to solve the locations of the array,while designing the transmitted signals under a feasible array is considered as a unimodular quadratic program(UQP) subproblem to calculate the fitness criterion of *** the PSO-UQP framework established,two methods are presented for the UQP subproblem,which are more efficient and more accurate respectively than previous ***,a threshold value is set in the framework to determine which method to adopt to take full advantages of the methods ***,we obtain the maximum localization error that FED can tolerate,which is significant for implementing FED in *** results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the joint optimization algorithm,and the correctness of the maximum localization error derived.

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary supplementation with acidifiers on the growth performance,meat quality,and intestinal health of broiler chickens.A total of 648 male Arbor Acres broiler chickens at 1 d old were randomly divided into 6 groups,and each group consisted of 6 replicates with 18 broilers per *** dietary treatments were as follows:negative control(NC,the basal diet),NC+antibiotic(enramycin,8 mg/kg,positive control[PC]),NC+phosphoric acid(PA,0.1,0.2,and 0.3 g/kg),and NC+lactic acid(LA,0.3 g/kg).The feeding trial lasted for 42 *** results showed that the feed-to-gain ratio of the NC+acidifier groups was lower than that of the NC and PC groups from 1 to 42 d(P<0.05).Compared with the values in the NC group,the pH of breast muscle was significantly higher in the NC+PA(0.2 g/kg)and LA(0.3 g/kg)groups(P<0.05),and the cooking loss was lower in the breast muscle of the NC+PA(0.1 g/kg)and LA(0.3 g/kg)groups(P<0.05).In addition,the shear force of the breast muscle and thigh muscle and the pH value in the crop,gizzard and duodenum of the antibiotic and acidifier groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05).Moreover,the trypsin,chymotrypsin,and lipase activities of the duodenum in the NC+PA(0.2 and 0.3 g/kg)groups,as well as the villus height-to-crypt depth(VH:CD)ratio of the duodenum in the NC+PA(0.1 g/kg)group was significantly greater(P<0.05)compared with those in the NC ***,the number of total aerobic bacteria,Escherichia coli and Salmonella in the cecum of the NC+PA(0.1 g/kg)and LA(0.3 g/kg)groups were decreased(P<0.05).Collectively,diet supplementation with acidifiers could improve the growth per-formance,meat quality,and intestinal health of broilers,in which the effects of PA(0.1 g/kg and 0.2 g/kg)are better than the other supplementations.

Keratocystic odontogenic tumors （KCOT） are benign, locally aggressive intraosseous tumors of odontogenic origin. KCOT have a higher stromal microvessel density （MVD） than dentigerous cysts （DC） and normal oral mucosa. To identify genes in the stroma of KCOT involved in tumor development and progression, RNA sequencing （RNA-Seq） was performed using samples from KCOT and primary stromal fibroblasts isolated from gingival tissues. Seven candidate genes that possess a function potentially related to KCOT progression were selected and their expression levels were confirmed by quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Expression of lysyl oxidase-like 4 （LOXL4）, the only candidate gene that encodes a secreted protein, was enhanced at both the mRNA and protein levels in KCOT stromal tissues and primary KCOT stromal fibroblasts compared to control tissues and primary fibroblasts （P〈0.05）. In vitro, high expression of LOXL4 could enhance proliferation and migration of the human umbilical vein endothelial cells （HUVECs）. There was a significant, positive correlation between LOXL4 protein expression and MVD in stroma of KCOT and control tissues （r=0.882）. These data suggest that abnormal expression of LOXL4 of KCOT may enhance angiogenesis in KCOT, which may help to promote the locally aggressive biological behavior of KCOT.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.
