Effects of UV-A exposures on longevity and reproduction in Helicoverpa armigera, and on the development of its F1 generation

Helicoverpa armigera adults display a conspicuous positive phototactic behavior to light stimuli, and are especially sensitive to ultraviolet （UV） light. The effects of UV-A （longwave） exposures on adult longevity and reproduction in H. armigera were investigated, as well as the development of the Ft generation. Paired adults were exposed to UV-A for various time periods （0, 1, 5 and 9 h/day）, until the end of adult life. The results showed that adult longevity decreased with increasing exposure time for both sexes, and a significant decrease was observed after exposure for 5 and 9 h/day. Fecundity increased when adults were exposed for 1 and 5 h/day, and a significant difference was observed in the 5 h/day group. Oviposition rates of females in all treatments were significantly higher than in the control. Exposure to UV-A for longer periods （5 and 9 h/day） caused a decline in cumulative survival of F1 immature stages, but no significant differences were found in egg hatch, pupation and eclosion. The developmental periods of F1 larvae were significantly prolonged after exposure to UV-A for 5 and 9 h/day. UV-A radiation had no significant effects on F1 pupal period.

BACKGROUND Gastric bronchogenic cysts(BCs)are extremely rare cystic masses caused by abnormal development of the respiratory system during the embryonic *** bronchial cysts are rare lesions first reported in 1956;as of 2019,only 37 cases are available in the MEDLINE/PubMed online *** usually have no clinical symptoms in the early stage,and their imaging findings also lack ***,they are difficult to diagnose before histopathological *** SUMMARY A 55-year-old woman presented at our hospital with intermittent epigastric *** had a slightly high level of serum carbohydrate antigen 72-4(CA 72-4).Endoscopic ultrasound found that a cystic mass originated from the submucosa of the posterior gastric wall near the cardia,indicating a diagnosis of cystic hygroma of the ***,a computed tomography scan demonstrated a quasi-circular cystic mass closely related to the lesser curvature of the gastric fundus with a low *** the imaging examinations did not suggest a malignancy and the patient required complete resection,she underwent laparoscopic *** an intraoperative finding,this cystic lesion was located in the posterior wall of the fundus and contained some yellow viscous ***,the pathologists verified that the cyst in the fundus was a gastric *** patient recovered well with normal CA 72-4 levels,and her course was uneventful at 10 *** This is a valuable report as it describes an extremely rare case of gastric ***,this is the first case of BC to present with elevated CA 72-4 levels.

We selected a dark coniferous forest ecosystem of Gongga Mountain in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River as our research area to study the preferential flow and solute preferential transport by adding the tracers KNO3 and KBr to the self-made soil column equipment in different ways to examine density and volume changes of inflows and outflows of a mass input （impulse input） and a stable, well-distributed input （step input））. The results showed that this dark coniferous forest ecosystem of Gongga Mountain is a typical area of preferential flow and solute preferential transport, a process that can be classified into five parts. A great amount of solute was transported at high speed as the result of preferential flow in the soil and caused the density of the solute in both deep water and in groundwater to rise rapidly, which definitely increased pollution in the deep soil layer.

Myeloid sarcoma(MS)is a rare hematological neoplasm that develops either de novo or concurrently with acute myeloid leukemia(AML).This neoplasm can also be an initial manifestation of relapse in a previously treated AML that is in remission.A 44-year-old male patient was diagnosed with testis MS in a local hospital in August *** one month,bone marrow biopsy and aspiration confirmed the diagnosis of *** mobilization peripheral blood stem cell transplantation was performed,with the sister of the patient as donor,after complete remission(CR)was achieved by *** months after treatment,an adrenal mass was detected by positron emission tomography-computed tomography(PET-CT).Radiotherapy was performed for the localized mass after a multidisciplinary team(MDT)*** patient is still alive as of May 2013,with no evidence of recurrent MS or leukemia.

Dear Editor,This letter studies output consensus problem of heterogeneous linear multiagent systems over directed graphs. A novel adaptive dynamic event-triggered controller is presented based only on the feedback combination of the agent's own state and neighbors' output,which can achieve exponential output consensus through intermittent communication. The controller is obtained by solving two linear matrix equations, and Zeno behavior is excluded.

In the process of image understanding, the human visual system (HVS) performs multiscale analysis on various objects. HVS primarily focuses on marginally conspicuous image patches located within or around distinct objects rather than scanning the image pixels point by point. Inspired by the HVS mechanism, in this paper, we aimed to describe and exploit multiscale decomposition-based patch detection models for automatic visual feature representation and object localization in images. Our investigation into mimicking and modeling the HVS to capture conspicuous sparse patches and their spatial distribution clues makes a profound contribution to the automatic comprehension and characterization of images by machines. This study demonstrates that the sparse patch-based visual representation with spatial center cues is intrinsically tolerant to object positioning and understanding beyond object variations in spatial position, multiresolution, and chrominance, which has significant implications for many vision-based automatic object grabbing and perception applications, such as robotics, human -machine interaction, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

AIM To investigate the effects of carnitine on ameliorating hepatic steatosis induced by total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in animal model. METHODS Eighteen normal Wistar rats and 19 cirrhotic Wistar rats induced by carbon tetrachloride were randomly divided into three groups, i.e., free access to food and drink (group A), TPN (group B) and TPN+carnitine (group C) for one week, respectively. Hepatic function, histology and its fat content were determined on the 7th day. RESULTS Hepatic triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol (CHO) contents were significantly higher in groups B and C than in group A, and significantly lower in group C than in group B in both normal and cirrhotic rats (all P <0 05). Histopathological examinations revealed that hepatic steatosis was more severe in group B than in group C in both normal and cirrhotic rats. CONCLUSION Carnitine can ameliorate hepatic steatosis associated with TPN in both non cirrhotic and cirrhotic rats.

Objective:To explore the mechanism of action of asperosaponinⅥ(AⅥ)in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)and validate it in ex vivo experiments using network pharmacology and molecular docking ***:The predicted targets of AⅥwere obtained from PharmMaper,UniProt and Swiss Target Prediction platforms,the disease targets were collected from Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man,Therapeutic Target Database and Gene Cards databases,the intersection targets of AⅥand RA were obtained from Venny 2.1.0,and the protein-protein interaction(PPI)network was obtained from STRING database,which was analyzed by Cytoscape software and screened to obtain the core *** software was used to analyze PPI network and screen the core *** on the Database for Annotation,Visualization and Integrated Discovery database,Gene Ontology functional and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis were performed,and Cytoscape software was used to construct the"DiseasePathway-Target-Drug"network,which was finally verified by molecular docking and animal ***:Network pharmacological studies showed that AⅥwas able to modulate 289 targets,with 102 targets for the potential treatment of RA,with the core pathway being the AKT/PI3K signaling pathway,and the core targets being the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP9).Molecular docking results showed that AⅥcould produce strong binding with both of the 2 core *** vitro cellular experiments showed that AⅥreduced nitric oxide,prostaglandin E_2,tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),and IL-1βlevels(P<0.05)and inhibited cyclooxygenase-2,nitric oxide synthase,EGFR,MMP9,phosphorylated phosphoinositide 3-kinase(p-PI3K),and phosphorylated serine-threonine kinase(p-AKT)proteins(P<0.05).The results of in vivo studies showed that AⅥimproved RA score and foot swelling thickness and decreased TNF-α,IL-6,p-PI3K and p-AKT levels in RA rat
