Effect of trace HA on microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of Mg-2Zn-0.5Sr alloy

Effect of the addition of trace HA particles into Mg-2Zn-0.5Sr on microstructure, mechanical properties, and bio-corrosion behavior was investigated in comparison with pure Mg. Microstructures of the Mg-2Zn-0.5Sr-xHA composites （x= 0, 0.1 and 0.3 wt%） were characterized by optical microscopy （OM）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM） equipped with energy dispersion spectroscopy （EDS） and X-ray diffraction （XRD）. Results of tensile tests at room temperature show that yield strength （YS） of Mg- 2Zn-0.5Sr/HA composites increases significantly, but the ultimate tensile strength （UTS） and elongation decrease with the addition of HA particles from 0 up to 0.3 wt%. Bio-corrosion behavior was investigated by immersion tests and electrochemical tests. Electrochemical tests show that corrosion potential （Ecorr） of Mg-2Zn-0.5Sr/HA composites significantly shifts toward nobler direction from -1724 to -1660 mVscE and the corrosion current density decreases from 479.8 to 280.8 ***^-2 with the addition of HA particles. Immersion tests show that average corrosion rate of ***/HA composites decreases from 11.7 to 9.1 mm/year with the addition of HA particles from 0 wt% up to 0.3 wt%. Both microstructure and mechanical properties can be attributed to grain refinement and mechanical bonding of HA particles with second phases and α-Mg matrix. Bio-corrosion behavior can be attributed to grain refinement and the formation of a stable and dense CaHPO4 protective film due to the adsorption of Ca^2＋ on HA particles. Our analysis shows that the Mg-2Zn-0.5Sr/0.3HA with good strength and corrosion resistance can be a good material candidate for biomedical applications.

Generation of Four-Mode Cluster-Type Entangled Coherent States in Free-Traveling Optical Fields

In this paper, we propose an optical scheme to generate four-mode cluster-type entangled coherent states （ECSs） in free traveling optical fields by using two single-photon sources, coherent state sources, beam splitters, pho- todetectors, cross-Kerr media, and phase shifters. And the success probability of the states preparation is calculated. At last we discuss the experimental feasibility of such proposal.

Alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome among Shanghai adults: A randomized multistage stratified cluster sampling investigation

AIM: To examine the relations of alcohol consumption to the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in Shanghai adults. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of data from the randomized multistage stratified cluster sampling of Shanghai adults, who were evaluated for alcohol consumption and each component of metabolic syndrome, using the adapted U.S. National Cholesterol Education Program criteria. Current alcohol consumption was defined as more than once of alcohol drinking per month. RESULTS: The study population consisted of 3953 participants (1524 men) with a mean age of 54.3 ± 12.1 years. Among them, 448 subjects (11.3%) were current alcohol drinkers, including 405 males and 43 females. After adjustment for age and sex, the prevalence of current alcohol drinking and metabolic syndrome in the general population of Shanghai was 13.0% and 15.3%, respectively. Compared with nondrinkers, the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia and hypertension was higher while the prevalence of abdominal obesity, low serum high-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and diabetes mellitus was lower in subjects who consumed alcohol twice or more per month, with a trend toward reducing the prevalence of metabolic syndrome. Among the current alcohol drinkers, systolic blood pressure, HDL-C, fastingplasma glucose, and prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia tended to increase with increased alcohol consumption. However, low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol concentration, prevalence of abdominal obesity, low serum HDL-C and metabolic syndrome showed the tendency to decrease. BACKGROUND Jackstone is a rare entity of calculi in urinary tracts and has the characteristic appearance resembling toy *** are nearly always reported to occur in the urinary bladder,we first report a rare case of jackstone located in the obstructed renal *** SUMMARY We report a 46-year-old man presenting with intermittent,painless gross hematuria and left flank *** computed tomography revealed staghorn stones and secondary hydronephrosis.A jackstone with radiating branches was found in one of the dilated renal *** nephrolithotomy was performed and endoscopic images were recorded during the *** stone composition analysis revealed it as calcium oxalate monohydrate *** Jackstones can occur in the renal collecting system besides the *** unique appearance and imaging manifestations are the most important factors in the diagnosis of jackstones,and further exploration of the formation mechanism is required.

Insight Into the Separation-of-Variable Methods for the Closed-Form Solutions of Free Vibration of Rectangular Thin Plates

The separation-of-variable(SOV)methods,such as the improved SOV method,the variational SOV method,and the extended SOV method,have been proposed by the present authors and coworkers to obtain the closed-form analytical solutions for free vibration and eigenbuckling of rectangular plates and circular cylindrical *** taking the free vibration of rectangular thin plates as an example,this work presents the theoretical framework of the SOV methods in an instructive way,and the bisection–based solution procedures for a group of nonlinear eigenvalue ***,the explicit equations of nodal lines of the SOV methods are presented,and the relations of nodal line patterns and frequency orders are *** is concluded that the highly accurate SOV methods have the same accuracy for all frequencies,the mode shapes about repeated frequencies can also be precisely captured,and the SOV methods do not have the problem of missing roots as well.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is highly prevalent among older men, impacting on their quality of life, sexual function, and genitourinary health, and has become an important global burden of disease. Transurethral plasmakinetic resection of prostate (TUPKP) is one of the foremost surgical procedures for the treatment of BPH. It has become well established in clinical practice with good efficacy and safety. In 2018, we issued the guideline “2018 Standard Edition”. However much new direct evidence has now emerged and this may change some of previous recommendations. The time is ripe to develop new evidence-based guidelines, so we formed a working group of clinical experts and methodologists. The steering group members posed 31 questions relevant to the management of TUPKP for BPH covering the following areas: questions relevant to the perioperative period (preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative) of TUPKP in the treatment of BPH, postoperative complications and the level of surgeons’ surgical skill. We searched the literature for direct evidence on the management of TUPKP for BPH, and assessed its certainty generated recommendations using the grade criteria by the European Association of Urology. Recommendations were either strong or weak, or in the form of an ungraded consensus-based statement. Finally, we issued 36 statements. Among them, 23 carried strong recommendations, and 13 carried weak recommendations for the stated procedure. They covered questions relevant to the aforementioned three areas. The preoperative period for TUPKP in the treatment of BPH included indications and contraindications for TUPKP, precautions for preoperative preparation in patients with renal impairment and urinary tract infection due to urinary retention, and preoperative prophylactic use of antibiotics.
