This study aimed to exploit a new virtual block method to spare normal lung tissue in VMAT planning for patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer(LA-NSCLC).The previous method was used to manually restrict the angle of the beam passing through,which ignored the location and shape of large targets that varied between different slices and did not block the beamlets precisely.Unlike the previous method,this new virtual block method was used to block the beamlets when necessary by closing the multi-leaf collimator(MLC)at prerequisite angles.The algorithm for closing the MLC depended on the thickness of the beamlets passing through the lungs and avoided only the entrance radiation beamlet.Moreover,this block can be automatically contoured.A retrospective study was performed to compare the VMAT plans with and without the virtual block method for 17 LANSCLC patients,named the block plan(B-plan)/non-block plan(N-plan).All cases were selected in this study because of the large tumor size and unmet dose constraints of the lungs.In addition to the maximum dose constraint for the virtual block,B-plans adopted identical optimization parameters to N-plans for each patient.These two types of plans were compared in terms of dosimetric indices and plan scores.The results were statistically analyzed using the Wilcoxon nonparametric signed-rank test.B-plans have advantages in the following dosimetric metrics that have statistical significance(p<0.05):(1)lower V_(5)/V_(10)/D_(mean)/normal tissue complication probability(NTCP)of total lungs;(2)reductions in V_(5)/V_(10)for the contralateral lung;(3)decrease in Dmean/V_(40)of the heart;(4)decrease in esophagus V_(40);(5)reductions in Dmean,V_(5)/V_(10) of normal tissue.B-plans(82.51±7.07)achieved higher-quality scores than N-plans(80.74±7.22).The new virtual block spared the lungs as well as other normal structures in VMAT planning for LA-NSCLC.Thus,the block method may decrease the risk of radiation-related toxicity in patients.

Developing new chemically recyclable polymers is important for a circular plastics economy.Herein,we prepared a class of 1,4-dithian-2-one(DTO)with thioether and thioester functionalities.These sulfur-substituted monomers(DTO)showed excellent reactivity for ring-opening polymerization(turnover frequency(TOF)up to 2.3×10^(4)h^(-1)),which afforded poly(thioetherthioester)s(P(DTO)s)with high air stability,high crystallinity,and commercial high-density polyethylene-like mechanical property(σB=29.59±1.08 MPa andεB=749%±36%).Intriguingly,chemical recycling of P(DTO)to monomer could be accomplished with excellent efficiency in dilute solution(1 min)at room temperature or even from a commodity plastic waste mixture under catalyst-free thermal bulk condition(180°C),thus establishing its circular life cycle.P(Me-DTO)could be applied for selective removal of Hg^(2+)with>99%removal efficiency.More importantly,Me-DTO could be recovered in high yield after utilization for Hg^(2+)adsorption.

Coupling the Common Land Model to ECHAM5 Atmospheric General Circulation Model

The ECHAM5 model is coupled with the widely used Common Land Model(CoLM). ECHAM5 is a state-of-theart atmospheric general circulation model incorporated into the integrated weather and climate model of the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS-CSM). Land surface schemes in ECHAM5 are simple and do not provide an adequate representation of the vegetation canopy and snow/frozen soil processes. Two AMIP(Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project)-type experiments using ECHAM5 and ECHAM5-CoLM are run over 30 yr and the results are compared with reanalysis and observational data. It is found that the pattern of land surface temperature simulated by ECHAM5-CoLM is significantly improved relative to ECHAM5. Specifically, the cold bias over Eurasia is removed and the root-mean-square error is reduced in most regions. The seasonal variation in the zonal mean land surface temperature and the in situ soil temperature at 20-and 80-cm depths are both better simulated by ECHAM5-CoLM. ECHAM5-CoLM produces a more reasonable spatial pattern in the soil moisture content, whereas ECHAM5 predicts much drier soils. The seasonal cycle of soil moisture content from ECHAM5-CoLM is a better match to the observational data in six specific regions. ECHAM5-CoLM reproduces the observed spatial patterns of both sensible and latent heat fluxes. The strong positive bias in precipitation over land is reduced in ECHAM5-CoLM, especially over the southern Tibetan Plateau and middle–lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the summer monsoon rainy season.

Magnesium phosphate bone cement has become a widely used orthopedic implant due to the advantages of fast-setting and high early strength. However, developing magnesium phosphate cement possessing applicable injectability, high strength, and biocompatibility simultaneously remains a significant challenge. Herein, we propose a strategy to develop high-performance bone cement and establish a trimagnesium phosphate cement (TMPC) system. The TMPC exhibits high early strength, low curing temperature, neutral pH, and excellent injectability, overcoming the critical limitations of recently studied magnesium phosphate cement. By monitoring the hydration pH value and electroconductivity, we demonstrate that the magnesium-to-phosphate ratio could manipulate the components of hydration products and their transformation by adjusting the pH of the system, which will influence the hydration speed. Further, the ratio could regulate the hydration network and the properties of TMPC. Moreover, in vitro studies show that TMPC has outstanding biocompatibility and bone-filling capacity. The facile preparation properties and these advantages of TMPC render it a potential clinical alternative to polymethylmethacrylate and calcium phosphate bone cement. This study will contribute to the rational design of high-performance bone cement.

The outcomes of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection are closely related to the age at which infection was acquired. Infection acquired in adult life tends to be selflimited, in contrast to perinatal acquirement, for which chronic persistence of the HBV is a general outcome. Innate immunity plays an indispensable role in early virus infection, facilitating virus clearance. However, it has been reported that HBV is under-recognized and poorly eliminated by the innate immune system in the early stages of infection, possibly explaining the long-lasting persistence of viremia afterwards. Furthermore, due to the existence of covalently closed circular DNA, chronic HBV clearance is very difficult, even when patients are given interferon-α and nucleotide/nucleoside analogs for antiviral therapy. The mechanism by which HBV evades innate immune recognition and establishes persistent infection remains a subject of debate. Besides, some researchers are becoming more interested in how to eradicate chronic HBV infection by restoring or boosting innate immunity. This review aimed to summarize the current knowledge on how intrahepatocyte signaling pathways and innate immune cells act after the onset of HBV infection and how these actions are related to the persistence of HBV. We anticipate the insights presented herein to be helpful for future development of novel immune therapeutic strategies to fight HBV infection.

Background： The information-motivation-behavioral skills （IMB） model of health behavior is an effective tool to evaluate the behavior of diabetes self-management. The purpose of this study was to explore behavioral factors affecting the practice of self-monitoring of blood glucose （SMBG） within the frame of IMB model of health behavioral among adult patients with type 1 diabetes in a single diabetes clinic in China. Methods： A questionnaire with three subscales on SMBG information, motivation, and behavioral skills based on IMB model was developed. Validity and reliability of the measures were examined and guaranteed. Adult patients with type 1 diabetes visiting our diabetes clinic from January to March 2012 （n = 55） were consecutively interviewed. The self-completion questionnaires were administered and finished at face-to-face interviews among these patients. Both descriptive and correlational analyses were made. Results： Fifty-five patients finished the questionnaires, with the median duration of diabetes 4.5 years and the median of SMBG frequency 2.00. Specific SMBG information deficits, motivation obstacles, and behavioral skill limitations were identified in a substantial proportion of participants. Scores of SMBG motivation （r - 0.299, P = 0.026） and behavioral skills （r = 0.425, P = 0.001） were significantly correlated with SMBG frequency. The multiple correlation of SMBG information, SMBG motivation, and SMBG behavioral skills with SMBG frequency was R - 0.411 （R2 = 0.169, P = 0.023）. Conclusions： Adult patients with type 1 diabetes in our clinic had substantial SMBG information deficits, motivation obstacles, and skill limitations. This information provided potential-focused education targets for diabetes health-care providers.

The goal of the Enhanced Versatile Disc （EVD） standard is to define an advanced high definition disc competing with Digital Versatile Disc （DVD）. The EVD standard consists of the physical specification, the file system .specification, and the specification for audio/video data and Enhanced （ x ） Audio Coding （ExAC） technology. EVD is an integrated .system similar to DVD. Comprehensive comparisons of EVD and DVD are given in this paper. Their key differences include disc formats, file system structures, data structures, audio/video coding, and other issues. Among them, we emphasize on the logic structure of EVD data and its enhanced audio coding method ExAC. We can draw conclusions through these comparisons that EVD is more the advantageous.

Polycrystalline 3Y-TZP/Al2O3 tetragonal zirconia fiber was obtained by the pyrolysis of gel fibers using zirconium oxychloride octahydrate（ZOC） as the raw material. The spinnable zirconia sol was prepared by electrolyzing the zirco-nium oxychloride octahydrate（ZOC） solution in the presence of acetic acid and sugar（ sucrose, glucrose or fructose） , in which the molar ratios of CH3 COOH/ZOC and sugar/ZOC were 1.0-4.0 and 0.2-0.4, respectively. The pre- pared tetragonal zireonia fibers sintered at different temperatures showed smooth and crack-free surfaces with diame, ters of 5-10 μm. The addition of Al2O3 enhanced the sintering process and prevented the crystals from growing. Thermogravimetric analysis（TG）, X-ray diffraction （ XRD ）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, and scanning electron microscope（SEM） techniques were used to characterize the prepared fibers.
