Pharmacological targeting cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis by tryptanthrin induces microglia polarization toward M2 phenotype and promotes functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord injury

The M1/M2 phenotypic shift of microglia after spinal cord injury plays an important role in the regulation of neuroinflammation during the secondary injury phase of spinal cord *** of shifting microglia polarization from M1(neurotoxic and proinflammatory type)to M2(neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory type)after spinal cord injury appears to be *** possesses an anti-inflammatory biological ***,its roles and the underlying molecular mechanisms in spinal cord injury remain *** this study,we found that tryptanthrin inhibited microglia-derived inflammation by promoting polarization to the M2 phenotype in *** promoted M2 polarization through inactivating the cGAS/STING/NF-κB ***,we found that targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway with tryptanthrin shifted microglia from the M1 to M2 phenotype after spinal cord injury,inhibited neuronal loss,and promoted tissue repair and functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord ***,using a conditional co-culture system,we found that microglia treated with tryptanthrin suppressed endoplasmic reticulum stress-related neuronal *** together,these results suggest that by targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis,tryptanthrin attenuates microglia-derived neuroinflammation and promotes functional recovery after spinal cord injury through shifting microglia polarization to the M2 phenotype.

Constrained minimum power combination for broadband beamformer design in the STFT domain

Beamforming using sensor array is widely used in spatial signal processing since it offers better spatial focusing capability than single sensor. However, in practical appli- cations for broadband signal, there always exists a trade-off issue between the directivity capability of an array and its robustness on system errors. In this paper, in order to combine merits of different beamformers instead of trade-off their per- formances, we propose a constrained minimum-power com- bination method. We firstly analyze two optimal beamform- ers that maximize Directivity Factor （DF） and White Noise Gain （WNG） respectively. Then we propose a non-linear combination method, which automatically selects the best beamformer that has the minimum output power, so as to control the unwanted white noise amplification and keep the maximum DF if possible. Two solutions to the proposed com- bination strategy are given. They do not need to determine the correct trade-off factor used in linear combination method, and avoid challenge ~stimations on noise and target statistics required in adaptive beamforming. The performance of the proposed beamformer is evaluated in ideal noise fields and complicated noise fields respectively. It is shown that the proposed beamformer integrates merits of different beamform- ers. It always achieves the best speech quality and biggest noise reduction compared to other popular beamformers.

Retroperitoneal Versus Transperitoneal Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Objective To review published literatures comparing the safety and effectiveness of retroperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy(RLPN) with transperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy(TLPN) and provide reference for clinical work. Methods The search strategy was performed to identify relevant papers from the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, China Hospital Knowledge Database, Wangfang Chinese Periodical Database, and VIP Chinese Periodical Database. All papers comparing RLPN with TLPN were included from 2000 to 2015. Two to three reviewers independently screened, evaluated, and extracted the included papers. A Meta-analysis was executed by using Review Manager 5.3 software. The interesting outcomes were tumor size, operating time, estimated blood loss, warm ischaemia time, length of hospital stay, positive margin rate, open conversion rate, overall complication rate, and recurrence rate. Results The literature search obtained 378 papers, then 10 of them were ultimately met the inclusion criteria and included in the systematic review. Finally, 6 of the 10 papers were included in the Meta-analysis. RLPN had significantly less operating time [P = 0.01, mean difference(MD)=-33.68, 95% confidence interval(CI) within(-60.35,-7.01)] and shorter length of hospital stay [P < 0.0001, MD=-1.47, 95% CI within(-2.18,-0.76)] than TLPN. Significant differences were not found between RLPN and TLPN in other outcomes. Conclusions RLPN may be equally safe and be faster than TLPN. Each center can choose a modality according to your own operating habits and experience.

The multisublattice Green＇s function technique is applied to study the magnetic properties of a mixed spin-2 and spin-5/2 Heisenberg ferrimagnetic system on a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice. The role of the different interactions in the Hamiltonian is explored. When only the nearest-neighbor interaction and the single-ion anisotropy are included, our results indicate that there are compensation points at finite temperatures. When the next-nearest-neighbor interaction exceeds a minimum value that depends on the other parameters in the Hamiltonian, the compensation point disappears. The next-nearest-neighbor interaction has the effect of changing the compensation temperature.

Hot deformation mechanism and microstructure evolution of an ultra-high nitrogen austenitic steel containing Nb and V

The flow curves of an ultra-high nitrogen austenitic steel containing niobium(Nb) and vanadium(V) were obtained by hot compression deformation at temperatures ranging from 1000°C to 1200°C and strain rates ranging from 0.001 s-1 to 10 s-1. The mechanical behavior during hot deformation was discussed on the basis of flow curves and hot processing maps. The microstructures were analyzed via scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction. The relationship between deformation conditions and grain size after dynamic recrystallization was obtained. The results show that the flow stress and peak strain both increase with decreasing temperature and increasing strain rate. The hot deformation activation energy is approximately 631 k J/mol, and a hot deformation equation is proposed.(Nb,V)N precipitates with either round, square, or irregular shapes are observed at the grain boundaries and in the matrix after deformation. According to the discussion, the hot working should be processed in the temperature range of 1050°C to 1150°C and in the strain rate range of 0.01 to 1 s-1.

Effects of pre-strain and baking parameters on the microstructure and bake-hardening behavior of dual-phase steel

In a typical process, C-Mn steel was annealed at 800℃ for 180 s, and then cooled rapidly to obtain the ferrite-martensite microstructure. After pre-straining, the specimens were baked and the corresponding bake-hardening （BH） values were determined as a function of pre-strain, baking temperature, and baking time. The influences ofpre-strain, baking temperature and baking time on the microstructure evolution and bake-hardening behavior of the dual-phase steel were investigated systematically. It was found that the BH value apparently increased with an increase in pre-strain in the range from 0 to 1%; however, increasing pre-strain from 1% to 8% led to a decrease in the BH value. furthermore, an increase in baking temperature favored a gradual improvement in the BH value because of the formation of Cottrell atmosphere and the precipitation of carbides in both the ferrite and martensite phases. The BH value reached a maximum of 110 MPa at a baking temperature of 300℃. Moreover, the BH value enhanced significantly with increasing baking time from 10 to 100 min.

An iron（Ⅲ）-catalyzed selective oxidation of 5-HMF to 2,5-DFF in air at room temperature was *** approach gives 2,5-DFF with good selectivity and yields. Additionally, a two-step process was developed for the oxidation of 2,5-DFF to 2,5-FDCA at remarkably high substrate concentrations. This work demonstrates unequivocally the great potential of iron as a cheap and earth-abundant catalyst for the development of new protocols for the conversion of biomass to value-added chemicals.

A nanosilica/exfoliated graphene composite film-modified electrode for sensitive detection of methyl parathion

Graphene nanosheets （GS） were easily prepared through liquid-phase exfoliation of graphite powder in N,N-dimethylformamide （DMF） with the assistance of sodium citrate. Then, GS was coated onto a glassy carbon electrode （GCE） surface by drop to fabricate a GS]GCE nanointerface. Subsequently, by using tetraethylorthosilicate sol as precursor, nanosilica was electrochemically deposited onto the GS]GCE surface to produce a nanocomposite film electrode （nanosilicaJGSJGCE）. Electrochemical behaviors of methyl parathion （MP） on the nanosilica/GS/GCE surface were investigated thoroughly. It was found that the nanosilicaJGS nanocomposites can improve the redox peak currents of MP significantly due to the synergetic effect. The oxidation peak current was linearly related to MP concentration in the range from 0.0005 μmol/L to 5.6 μmol/L. The detection limit was calculated to be 0.07 nmol/L （SJN = 3）. The developed method was used to determine MP in real samples. The recoveries were in the range from 95.4% to 104.2%, demonstrating satisfactory results.

Loss of Responsiveness to Osmotic Stress in Maize Root:the Effect of Water Channel Blocker HgCl_2

In order to investigate the effect of water channel blocker HgCl2 on the hydraulic resistance in roots of maize seedlings, a xylem pressure probe was used to monitor the changes in root xylem pressure in response to NaCl- or mannitol-induced osmotic stresses before and after the application of HgCl2. When the maize roots were subjected to 500 umol L-1 HgCl2 in root bathing solution, not only a considerable decline in xylem pressure （increase in xylem tension） was observed, but the loss of responsiveness of the plant to both salt- and mannitol-induced osmotic stresses in terms of xylem pressure change was seen as well when the transpiration rate of the plant was not significantly changed. The results are similar but different from the reversed osmosis by the Fenton reaction in the internodes of Chara coralline, showing that the mechanisms of water transport across cell membrane in plant roots are far more complicated than expected.
