To combat the crisis of today's synthetic polymers arising from unsustainable production and disposal,it is essential for the synthetic polymer community to reshape the current polymer industry with sustainable *** an emerging class of sustainable polymers,the development of chemically depolymerizable polymers(CDPs),which can undergo closed-loop depolymerization/repolymerization cycles to reproduce virgin polymers without the loss of properties from recovered monomers,offers an ideal solution to preserve finite natural resources,provides a feasible solution to the end-of-life issue of polymer waste,and thereby establishes a circular materials ***,two grand key challenges have been encountered in the establishment of practically useful CDPs:how to balance polymerization and depolymerization ability and how to unify conflicted depolymerizability and physical ***,this critical review article presents our vision for summarizing feasible strategies to overcome the above two significant challenges and the design principles for constructing an ideal CDP by highlighting selected major progress made in this rapidly expanding field.

Ring-Opening Polymerization of a Benzyl-Protected Cyclic Ester towards Functional Aliphatic Polyester

Monomer design strategy has become a powerful tool to access polymers with desired and diverse functionalities. Here, we designed a novel monomer 2-((benzyloxy)methyl)-1,4-oxathiepan-7-one (BTO) via installing a benzyl ether side chain to the structure of 1,4-oxathiepan-7-one (OTO). The ring-opening polymerization of BTO with Zn1 as the catalyst demonstrated the characteristics of living polymerization with turnover frequency (TOF) up to 2520 h^(−1). With a [BTO]_(0)/[Zn1]_(0)/[I]_(0) feed ratio of 2000/2/1, polymer with high number-average molecular weight (Mn = 536 kDa) and narrow dispersity (Ð = 1.06) was obtained. The produced polymer with a glass transition temperature of -17℃ behaved as an elastomer at room temperature. Consequently, the monomer BTO was copolymerized with _(L)-LA to modulate the mechanical properties of P(L-LA). When the BTO content is 10%, the copolymer exhibits excellent strength (24 MPa) and elongation at break (270%), affording a crystalline, hard, and tough plastic material that combines the high ductility of P(BTO) and the high modulus of P(_(L)-LA). In addition, the oxidation of P(BTO) to P(BTO)-SO_(2) led to an improvement of T_(g) from -17℃ to 38℃. Debenzylation of P(BTO)-SO_(2) afforded P(BTO)-SO_(2)-OH containing free hydroxyl groups. Ultimately, P(BTO) could be hydrolyzed under a base condition to recover the corresponding hydroxyl acid intermediate, which could be used to prepare the monomer again and complete the closed-loop from monomer to polymer to monomer.

Developing new chemically recyclable polymers is important for a circular plastics ***,we prepared a class of 1,4-dithian-2-one(DTO)with thioether and thioester *** sulfur-substituted monomers(DTO)showed excellent reactivity for ring-opening polymerization(turnover frequency(TOF)up to 2.3×10^(4)h^(-1)),which afforded poly(thioetherthioester)s(P(DTO)s)with high air stability,high crystallinity,and commercial high-density polyethylene-like mechanical property(σB=29.59±1.08 MPa andεB=749%±36%).Intriguingly,chemical recycling of P(DTO)to monomer could be accomplished with excellent efficiency in dilute solution(1 min)at room temperature or even from a commodity plastic waste mixture under catalyst-free thermal bulk condition(180°C),thus establishing its circular life cycle.P(Me-DTO)could be applied for selective removal of Hg^(2+)with>99%removal *** importantly,Me-DTO could be recovered in high yield after utilization for Hg^(2+)adsorption.

Predicting the prognosis of primary orbital lymphoma by clinical characteristics and imaging features

AIM: To analyze the 5-year disease-free survival(DFS) of primary orbital lymphoma(POL) by clinical characteristics and imaging ***: A total of 72 patients, 43 males and 29 females, with histologically confirmed POL, were retrospectively recruited between January 2012 and May 2017. The information on clinical characteristics, imaging features, and 5-year DFS was obtained. Univariate and multivariate forward logistic regression analyses were used to identify the variables significantly associated with 5-year DFS. Kaplan-Meier was applied for survival analysis. RESULTS: Univariate analysis revealed that uni-or bilateral orbital involvement, single or multiple lesions, treatment methods, and contrast enhancement pattern on images were significant for 5-year DFS(P=0.022, 0.042, <0.001, and 0.028, respectively), while in multivariate logistic regression analysis, only uni-or bilateral orbital involvement, treatment methods and contrast enhancement pattern on images were significant(r=0.453, 0.897, and 0.556, P=0.038, <0.001 and 0.022, respectively). The survival curves for DFS were obtained. CONCLUSION: The majority of POL are B-cell lymphomas. Unilateral orbital involvement, homogeneous contrast enhancement on images, and the appropriate treatment schemes result to be significant factors for a good prognosis for POL.

D-serine reduces memory impairment and neuronal damage induced by chronic lead exposure

Jetting of a near-wall cavitation bubble induced by another tandem bubble

Double bubbles near a rigid wall surface collapse to produce a significant jet impact,with potential applications in surface cleaning and ultrasonic ***,the dynamic behaviors of near-wall bubbles remain *** this study,we investigate the jetting of a near-wall bubble induced by another tandem *** define two dimensionless standoff distances,γ_(1),γ_(2),to represent the distances from the center of the near-wall bubble to the rigid wall and the center of controlling bubble to the center of the near-wall bubble,*** observations reveal three distinct jetting regimes for the near-wall bubble:transferred jetting,double jetting,and directed *** further investigate the jetting mechanism,numerical simulations are conducted using the compressibleInterFoam solver in the open-source framework of OpenFOAM.A detailed analysis shows that the transferred jet flow is caused by the pinch-off resulting from the axial contraction velocity at the lower end of the near-wall bubble being greater than the vertical contraction velocity,leading to a maximum jet velocity of 682.58 m/*** the case of double jetting,intense stretching between the controlling bubble and the wall leads to a pinch-off and a double jetting with a maximum velocity of 1096.29 m/*** directed jet flow is caused by the downward movement of the high-pressure region generated by the premature collapse of the controlling bubble,with the maximum jet velocity reaching 444.62 m/s.

A Novel 3D Gait Model for Subject Identification Robust against Carrying and Dressing Variations

Fluid property identification of the Lower Cretaceous reservoirs with complex oil-water contacts in Deseo Basin,Chad

Recently,exploration breakthroughs have been made in the Lower Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs in the Doseo Basin,but the identification of reservoir fluid property is difficult due to variable reservoir lithology,complex oil-water contact within and faint responses of the oil zone,which causes the lower accuracy of reservoir fluid property identification with conventional mudlogging and wirelogging *** the geochemical logging,fluorescent logging,mud logging and cutting logging technology,in combination with formation test data,this paper distinguishes the crude oil types,analyzes the logging response characteristics of oil zone after water washing,and establishes the interpretation charts and parameter standards for reservoir fluid *** crude oil can be divided into two types,namely viscous-heavy and thin-light,based on total hydrocarbon content and component concentration tested by mud logging,features of pyrolysis gas chromatogram and fluorescence *** general characteristics of oil layers experienced water washing include the decrease of total hydrocarbon content and component concentration from mud logging,the decrease of S1 and PS values from geochemical logging,the decrease of hydrocarbon abundance and absence of some light components in pyrolysis gas chromatogram,and the decrease of fluorescence area and intensity from fluorescence *** to crude oil types,the cross plots of S1 versus peak-baseline ratio,and the cross plots of rock wettability versus fluorescence area ratio are drawn and used to interpret reservoir fluid ***,the standards of reservoir fluid parameter are established combining with the parameters of PS and the parameters in above charts,and comprehensive multiparameter correlation in both vertical and horizontal ways is also performed to interpret reservoir fluid *** application in the Doseo Basin achieved great success,improving interpretation ability of fluid property
