Mechanism of ferrite nucleation induced by Y_(2)O_(2)S inclusion in low carbon steel

To reveal the mechanism of ferrite nucleation induced by Y_(2)O_(2)S inclusion in steel,the work of adhesion,interfacial energy,structure stability and electronic properties of Fe(111)/YY_(2)O_(2)S(001)interfaces with various terminations were first investigated using the first-principles ***,the steels with and without yttrium were prepared,while the rare earth yttrium-based inclusions in low carbon steel were characterized using an electron probe micro-analyzer,and the grain size of steel was analyzed using a scanning electron microscope with electron backscattered *** results show that the bonding strength of Fe/Y_(2)O_(2)S interfaces with S-and Y-terminations is stronger than that of the interface with *** Fe-hcp-S interfaces with S-termination have the highest work of adhesion(4.01 J/m2)and the lowest interface distance(1.323A).The Fe-hcp-S interface exhibits the highest stability,and its interfacial bonding force is mainly attributed to the strong hybridization of Fe-3d and S-2p orbitals in the energy range of-7.5-0 ***,the interfacial energy of Fe-hcp-S is substantially lower than those of the ferrite(s)/Fe(L)interface and the ferrite-austenite interface,suggesting that Y_(2)O_(2)S inclusions in steel can efficiently promote ferrite *** experimental observations demonstrate that the ferrite grain size of steel containing 0.03 wt.% Y is much more refined than that of the steel without yttrium,and the average grain size of steel with and without Y is 102 and 258μm,*** indicates that the results of our calculations match with experimental findings.

Dependence of overlap topological charge density on Wilson mass parameter

In this paper,we analyze the dependence of the topological charge density from the overlap operator on the Wilson mass parameter in the overlap kernel by the symmetric multi-probing source(SMP)*** observe that non-trivial topological objects are removed as the Wilson mass is increased.A comparison of topological charge density calculated by the SMP method using the fermionic definition with that of the gluonic definition by the Wilson flow method is shown.A matching procedure for these two methods is *** find that there is a best match for topological charge density between the gluonic definition with varied Wilson flow time and the fermionic definition with varied Wilson *** using the matching procedure,the proper flow time of Wilson flow in the calculation of topological charge density can be *** the lattice spacing a decreases,the proper flow time also decreases,as expected.

Calculation of disconnected quark loops in lattice QCD

Calculation of disconnected quark loops in lattice QCD is very time *** noise methods are generally used to estimate these ***,stochastic estimation gives large errors in the calculations of disconnected *** use the symmetric multi-probing source(SMP)method to estimate the disconnected quark loops,and compare the results with the Z(2)noise method and the spin-color explicit(SCE)method on a quenched lattice QCD ensemble with lattice volume 12^3×24 and lattice spacing a≈0.1 *** results show that the SMP method is very suitable for the calculation of pseudoscalar disconnected quark ***,the SMP and SCE methods do not have an obvious advantage over the Z(2)noise method in the evaluation of the scalar disconnected loops.

Precipitates and corrosion resistance of an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr plate with different percentage reduction per passes

7055 aluminum alloy plates with the same size were rolled by two processes： small percentage reduction per pass （PRPP） and large percentage reduction per pass, respectively. Meanwhile, the effect of PRPP on the precipitates and corrosion resistance of 7055 aluminum alloy plate was investigated. The mechanisms were analyzed and discussed by optical microscopy （OM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRTEM） and electron back-scattered diffraction （EBSD） technique. Large PRPP can improve the corrosion resistance. For the plate rolled by small PRPP, the main precipitate is guinier-preston （GP） zone and continuous grain boundary precipitates （GBPs）, while, for the plate rolled by large PRPP, the main precipitates are the GP zone and η precipitate, and the GBPs are discontinuous.

Evaluating the topological charge density with the symmetricmulti-probing method

We evaluate the topological charge density of SU(3) gauge fields on a lattice by calculating the trace of the overlap Dirac matrix employing the symmetric multi-probing(SMP) method in 3 modes. Since the topological charge Q for a given lattice configuration must be an integer number, it is easy to estimate the systematic error(the deviation of Q to the nearest integer). The results demonstrate a high efficiency and accuracy in calculating the trace of the inverse of a large sparse matrix with locality by using the SMP sources when compared to using point *** also show the correlation between the errors and probing scheme parameter r_(min), as well as lattice volume N_L and lattice spacing a. It is found that the computational time for calculating the trace by employing the SMP sources is less dependent on N_L than by using point sources. Therefore, the SMP method is very suitable for calculations on large lattices.

Identification of thermal effects involved in DSC experiment on Al-Cu-Mg-Ag alloys with high Cu:Mg ratio

Precipitation reactions in the differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） of an Al-Cu-Mg-Ag alloy were identified by analyzing the results from hardness test,electrical conductivity test,and transmission electron microscope （TEM） *** is discovered that thermal effects can be identified through selected area electron diffraction and bright-field *** reaction peaks around 171,231,and 276℃ can be attributed to a structural rearrangement of coherent zones,to the precipitation of Ω phases,and to the precipitation of Ω and θ＇ and possible combination with the transition of θ＇→θ,*** addition,the hardness and electrical conductivity of the alloy change proportionately with the progression of reactions during the heating *** phenomenon can be attributed to the evolution of the micro-structure.

Hopping Parameter Expansion Technique in Noise Method for Disconnected Quark Loops

We investigate the effectiveness of the hopping parameter expansion（HPE） combined with the Z（2） noise method in the calculation of the trace of the inverse of Wilson＇s Dirac operator and some other disconnected contributions.A numerical comparison of the standard deviation for the Z（2） noise method and HPE with the Z（2） noise method is carried out. It is found that there are noise reductions in all the quantities we calculated using the HPE with the Z（2） noise method. For the trace of the inverse of Wilson＇s Dirac operator, the HPE can reduce the statistical error by about 60%.

Effectiveness and safety of splenectomy for gastric carcinoma:A meta-analysis

AIM： To evaluate the impact of splenectomy on longterm survival, postoperative morbidity and mortality of patients with gastric cancer by performing a metaanalysis METHODS： A search of electronic databases to identify randomized controlled trials in The Cochrane Library trials register, Mediine, CBMdisc （Chinese Biomedical Database） and J-STAGE, etc was performed. Data was extracted from the studies by 2 independent reviewers. Outcome measures were survival, postoperative morbidity and mortality and operation-related events. The meta-analyses were performed by RevMan 4.3. RESULTS： Three studies comprising 466 patients were available for analysis, with 231 patients treated by gastrectomy plus splenectomy. Splenectomy could not increase the 5-year overall survival rate [RR = 1.17, 95% confidence interval （CI） 0.97-1.41]. The postoperative morbidity （RR = 1.76, 95% CI 0.82-3.80） or mortality （RR = 1.58, 95% CI 0.45-5.50） did not suggest any significant differences between the 2 groups. No significant differences were noted in terms of number of harvested lymph nodes, operation time, length of hospital stay and reoperation rate. Subgroup analyses showed splenectomy did not increase the survival rate for proximal and whole gastric cancer. No obvious differences were observed between the 2 groups when stratified by stage. Sensitivity analyses indicated no significant differences regarding the survival rates （P 〉 0.05）. CONCLUSION： Splenectomy did not show a beneficial effect on survival rates compared to splenic preservation. Routinely performing splenectomy should not be recommended.
