Diagnostic value of imaging examinations in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma

Primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHC) includes hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and other pathological types and is characterized by rapid progression. Most of the clinical diagnoses are made at late stage or when distant metastasis occurs, increasing the difficulty of treatment and resulting in a poor prognosis. Therefore, the early diagnosis of PHC plays an important role in timely treatment and the improvement of prognosis. The gold standard for the diagnosis of primary liver cancer is liver biopsy, but it has limitations as an invasive examination. Presently, imaging has become the first choice for the diagnosis of liver cancer. We here summarize the new methods and techniques of imaging in diagnosis and evaluation of primary liver cancer in recent years, including ultrasonography, computed tomography perfusion imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging technology-voxel incoherent motion, diffusion tensor imaging, iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least squares estimation-iron quantification, dynamic enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and hepatocyte-specific contrast medium imaging. Imaging diagnosis can not only evaluate the degree of differentiation, blood supply and perfusion, and invasiveness of the lesion, but also predict the prognosis, evaluate liver function, andprovide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Fluid identification and effective fracture prediction based on frequency-dependent AVOAz inversion for fractured reservoirs

Fluid and effective fracture identification in reservoirs is a crucial part of reservoir *** frequency-dependent AVO inversion algorithms have proven to be effective for identifying fluid through its dispersion ***,the conventional frequency-dependent AVO inversion algorithms based on Smith&Gidlow and Aki&Richards approximations do not consider the acquisition azimuth of seismic data and neglect the effect of seismic anisotropic dispersion in the actual *** aligned fractures in the subsurface medium induce *** seismic anisotropy should be considered while accounting for the seismic dispersion properties through fluid-saturated fractured *** in such reservoirs is frequency-related due to wave-induced fluid-flow(WIFF)between interconnected fractures and *** can be used to identify fluid and effective fractures(fluid-saturated)by using azimuthal seismic data via anisotropic dispersion *** this paper,based on Rüger’s equation,we derived an analytical expression in the frequency domain for the frequencydependent AVOAz inversion in terms of fracture orientation,dispersion gradient of isotropic background rock,anisotropic dispersion gradient,and the dispersion at a normal incident *** frequency-dependent AVOAz equation utilizes azimuthal seismic data and considers the effect of both isotropic and anisotropic *** Gabor Transform(RGT)is used to achieve highresolution frequency division *** then propose the frequency-dependent AVOAz inversion method to identify fluid and characterize effective fractures in fractured porous *** application to high-qualified seismic data of dolomite and carbonate reservoirs,the results show that the method is useful for identifying fluid and effective fractures in fluid-saturated fractured rocks.

Development and Application of Nested PCR Assay for Detection of Dairy Cattle-Derived Cyclospora sp.

To develop a nested PCR assay for the detection of cattle-derived Cyclospora sp., two pairs of primers were designed on the basis of the cattle-derived Cyclospora sp. sequences. These primers selectively amplified a 168-bp DNA fragment of the 18S rRNA gene of cattle-derived Cyclospora sp. With these primers, a nested PCR assay for the detection of cattlederived Cyclospora sp. was developed. The nested PCR assay was specific and there is no cross-reaction with other parasites, such as Eimeria spp., Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia sp., Toxoplasma sp., Trichuris sp. and cattle ciliate. The assay was able to detect as low as 2.85 × 10^-2 fg of the control positive DNA. The results of the detection of clinical samples indicated that the assay coincided with microscopic examination. The results show that the nested PCR assay will be an effective tool for the detection of Cyclospora sp. in cattle feces.

Background The increasing population of diabetes mellitus in adolescent girls and women of childbearing age contributes to a large number of pregnancies with maternal pregestational diabetes *** heart diseases are a common adverse outcome in mothers with pregestational diabetes ***,there is little systematic information between maternal pregestational diabetes mellitus and congenital heart diseases in the *** sources literature selection was performed in *** hundred and seven papers were cited in our review,includ-ing 36 clinical studies,26 experimental studies,31 reviews,eight meta-analysis articles,and six of other *** Maternal pregestational diabetes mellitus poses a high risk of congenital heart diseases in the offspring and causes variety of phenotypes of congenital heart *** such as persistent maternal hyperglycemia,oxidative stress,polymorphism of uncoupling protein 2,polymorphism of adiponectin gene,Notch 1 pathway,Nkx2.5 disorders,dysregula-tion of the hypoxia-inducible factor 1,and viral etiologies are associated with the occurrence of congenital heart diseases in the offspring of mothers with pregestational diabetes *** options including blood sugar-reducing,anti-oxidative stress drug supplements and exercise can help to prevent maternal pregestational diabetes mellitus from inducing congenital heart *** Our review contributes to a better understanding of the association between maternal pregestational diabetes mellitus and congenital heart diseases in the offspring and to a profound thought of the mechanism,preventive and therapeutic measurements of congenital heart diseases caused by maternal pregestational diabetes mellitus.

Shaped beam pattern synthesis with desired nulling level and minimum sidelobe level

For the anti-interference/denoise purpose,it usually requires minimizing the sidelobe level(SLL)of a wide-beam pattern with a desired low nulling level(NL)in the nulling *** realize such an objective,the shaped-beam pattern synthesis(SBPS)is the most commonly used ***,since the SBPS problem focuses on synthesizing a predetermined beam shape,the minimum SLL via this approach cannot ensure to obtain the maximum power ***,it cannot obtain the lowest SLL with a certain power gain *** on such consideration,this paper tries to further minimize SLL of a wide-beam pattern with a desired low NL nulling region,by solving the power gain pattern synthesis(PGPS)*** PGPS problem selects the array excitation by directly optimizing the power ***,it has the potential to reduce SLL,when achieving the equal mainlobe power gain constraint via *** iterative algorithm which converts the primal optimization problem into convex sub-problems is proposed,resulting in an effective problem-solving *** simulations demonstrate the proposed algorithm can obtain about 10-dB lower SLL than the existing algorithms.

Effects of sand sedimentation and wind erosion around sand barrier:Numerical simulation and wind tunnel test studies

Based on numerical simulations,this study highlights the sedimentation and erosion problems around a sand barrier through the relationship between the shear stress of the surface around the sand barrier and the critical shear stress of sand *** numerical simulation results were verified using data measured by the wind tunnel *** results showed that when the porosity was the same,the size and position of the vortex on the leeward side of the sand barrier were related to the inlet wind *** the wind speed increased,the vortex volume increased and the positions of the separation and reattachment points moved toward the leeward *** the porosity of the sand barrier was 30%,the strength of the acceleration zone above the sand barrier was the highest,and the strength of the acceleration zone was negatively correlated with the *** erosion and sedimentation distance were related to wind *** an increase in wind speed,the sand grain forward erosion or reverse erosion areas on the leeward side of the sand barrier gradually replaced the sedimentation *** an increase in porosity,the sand sedimentation distance on the leeward side of the sand barrier gradually shortened,and the sand erosion area gradually *** sand sedimentation distance on the leeward side of the sand barrier with 30%porosity was the *** numerical simulation results were in good agreement with the wind tunnel test *** on the sand erosion and sedimentation results of the numerical simulation and wind tunnel test,when the porosity was 30%,the protection effect of the High Density Polyethylene(HDPE)board sand barrier was best.

Cell-free expression of NO synthase and P450 enzyme for the biosynthesis of an unnatural amino acid L-4-nitrotryptophan

Cell-free system has emerged as a powerful platform with a wide range of in vitro applications and recently has contributed to express metabolic pathways for *** we report in vitro construction of a native biosynthetic pathway for L-4-nitrotryptophan(L-4-nitro-Trp)synthesis using an Escherichia coli-based cell-free protein synthesis(CFPS)***,a nitric oxide(NO)synthase(TxtD)and a cytochrome P450 enzyme(TxtE)are responsible for synthesizing L-4-nitro-Trp,which serves as one substrate for the biosynthesis of a nonribosomal peptide herbicide thaxtomin *** coexpression of TxtD and TxtE in a heterologous host like *** for L-4-nitro-Trp production has not been achieved so far due to the poor or insoluble expression of *** CFPS,TxtD and TxtE were successfully expressed in vitro,enabling the formation of *** optimization,the cell-free system was able to synthesize approximately 360μM L-4-nitro-Trp within 16 ***,this work expands the application scope of CFPS for study and synthesis of nitro-containing compounds,which are important building blocks widely used in pharmaceuticals,agrochemicals,and industrial chemicals.

Na-K liquid alloy:A review on wettability enhancement and ionic carrier selection mechanism

The intrinsic liquid interface of Na-K alloy allays concerns about dendrite growth on metal anodes that are thermodynamically within the room temperature(20-22℃).Nevertheless,it hinders the formation of a stable electrode structure due to the inferior wettability induced by considerable liquid *** addition,the dominant ionic carrier in the Na-K alloy is subject to multiple factors,which is not conducive to customized battery *** review,based on recently reported frontier achievements on Na-K liquid anodes,summarizes practical strategies for promoting the wettability by hightemperature induction,capillary effect,vacuum infiltration,and solid interface *** re,four selection mechanisms of the dominant ionic carrier are presented:(1)ion property dominated,(2)cathode dominated,(3)separator dominated,and(4)solid electrolyte interface ***,initial electrolytes in energy storage systems have been unable to play a decisive role in ionic *** a superior wettability strategy and simultaneously identifying the dominant ionic carrier can facilitate the tailored application of dendrite-free Na-K liquid anodes.

The nature of electron density enhancement over a wide altitude range during ionosphere heating experiments at EISCAT

During the course of ionospheric heating experiments, researchers at the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) observed an apparent electron density enhancement. The enhancement extended over a wide range of altitudes, above the reflection altitude of the high-frequency pump wave. However, whether this enhancement actually corresponds to a true enhancement in electron density remains an open question. When the dispersion relation of ion acoustic waves is followed, the frequency ratio of the enhanced ion line to the background ion line suggests that the profile of the effective ion mass may have remained unchanged. Furthermore, the solar radio flux and ion drift velocity indicate no significant changes in the ion species and their densities. In conclusion, the electron density enhancement observed at EISCAT should not, in fact, be considered a true enhancement.
