This study presents a new method to solve the difficult problem of precise machining a non-cylinder pinhole of a piston using embedded giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) in the component. We propose the finite element model of GMM smart component in electric, magnetic, and mechanical fields by step computation to optimize the design of GMM smart com-ponent. The proposed model is implemented by using COMSOL multi-physics V3.2a. The effects of the smart component on the deformation and the system resonance frequencies are studied. The results calculated by the model are in excellent agreement (relative errors are below 10%) with the experimental values.

In the framework of the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov(HFB)approach with Skyrme interactions SLy5+T,SLy5+Tw and several sets of TIJ parametrizations,*** Skyrme interaction parametrizations including the tensor terms,the proton density distribution in ^(34)Si and ^(46)Ar nuclei is calculated with and without the tensor *** is shown that the bubble effect in ^(34)Si does not depend a great deal on the Skyrme parametrization and the proton density distribution in ^(34)Si is hardly influenced by the tensor *** to ^(46)Ar,the SLy5+Tw parametrization favors the formation of the bubble structure due to the inversion between the 2s_(1/2) and 1d_(3/2) orbits(2s_(1/2)–1d_(3/2) inversion).The inversion mechanism induced by the SLy5+Tw interaction is analyzed based on the proton single−particle spectra obtained from the SLy5 and SLy5+Tw interactions as well as the wave functions of the 2s_(1/2) and 1d_(3/2) states.

The weight of shelled shrimp is an important parameter for grading *** weight prediction of shelled shrimp by contour area is not accurate enough because of the ignorance of the shrimp *** this paper,a multivariate prediction model containing area,perimeter,length,and width was established.A new calibration algorithm for extracting length of shelled shrimp was proposed,which contains binary image thinning,branch recognition and elimination,and length reconstruction,while its width was calculated during the process of length *** model was further validated with another set of images from 30 shelled *** a comparison purpose,artificial neural network(ANN) was used for the shrimp weight *** ANN model resulted in a better prediction accuracy(with the average relative error at 2.67%),but took a tenfold increase in calculation time compared with the weight-area-perimeter(WAP) model(with the average relative error at 3.02%).We thus conclude that the WAP model is a better method for the prediction of the weight of shelled red shrimp.

B2 FeA1 intermetallic compounds modified with reactive elements （REs） including Sc and Y were fabricated by vacuum arc-melting, and the isothermal oxidation behavior of the RE-doped alloys at 1373 K was investigated. Both Sc and Y single-doping significantly decrease the alumina film growth rate of the alloys. The alumina film growth rate of Sc＋ Y co-doped alloy even further reduces compared to that of the Sc and Y single-doped alloys. The synergistic effect produced by Sc＋ Y codoping on the growth behavior of alumina was discussed. It could be anticipated that the combined additions of Sc and Y which have matched chemical properties might decrease the alumina film growth rate more effectively and provide FeA1 alloys with enhanced oxidation resistance.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have recently attracted broad attention in the catalysis field due to their maximized atom efficiency and unique catalytic *** atomic-level understanding of the interaction between the metal atoms and support is vital for developing stable and high-performance *** this work,Pt1 single atoms with Ioadings up to 4 wt.% were fabricated on ceria nanorods using the atomic layer deposition *** understand the Pt-O-Ce bond interfacial interactions,the stability of Pt1 single atoms in the hydrogen reducing environment was extensively investigated by using in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy CO chemisorption *** was found that ceria defect sites,metal Ioadings and high-temperature calcination are effective ways to tune the stability of Pt1 single atoms in the hydrogen environment.X-ray photoemission spectroscopy further showed that Pt1 single atoms on ceria are dominantly at a +2 valence state at the defect and step edge sites,while those on terrace sites are at a +4 *** above tailored stability and electronic properties of Pt1 single atoms are found to be strongly correlated with the catalytic activity in the dry and water-mediated CO oxidation reactions.

Polypyrrole （PPy）, the earliest prepared conducting polymer, has good biocompatibility, easy synthesis and flexibility in processing. Compared with metal and inorganic materials, doped PPy has better mechanical match with live tissue, resulting in its many applications in biomedical field. This mini-review presents some information on specific PPy properties for tissue engineering applications, including its synthesis, doping, bio-modiflcation. Although some challenges and unanswered problems still remain, PPy as novel biomaterial has promoted the development tissue engineering for its clinical application in the future.

Based on the Eigen and Crow-Kimura models with a single-peak fitness landscape, we propose the fitness values of all sequence types to be Gausslan distributed random variables to incorporate the effects of the fluctuations of the fitness landscapes （noise of environments） and investigate the concentration distribution and error threshold of quasispecies by performing an ensemble average within this theoretical framework. We find that a small fluctuation of the fitness landscape causes only a slight change in the concentration distribution and error threshold, which implies that the error threshold is stable against small perturbations. However, for a sizable fluctuation, quite different from the previous deterministic models, our statistical results show that the transition from quasi-species to error catastrophe is not so sharp, indicating that the error threshold is located within a certain range and has a shift toward a larger value. Our results are qualitatively in agreement with the experimental data and provide a new implication for antiviral strategies.
