Proton exchange membrane fuel cells are playing an increasing role in postpandemic economic recovery and climate action plans.However,their performance,cost,and durability are significantly related to Pt-based electrocatalysts,hampering their large-scale commercial application.Hence,considerable efforts have been devoted to improving the activity and durability of Pt-based electrocatalysts by controlled synthesis in recent years as an effective method for decreasing Pt use,and consequently,the cost.Therefore,this review article focuses on the synthesis processes of carbon-supported Pt-based electrocatalysts,which significantly affect the nanoparticle size,shape,and dispersion on supports and thus the activity and durability of the prepared electrocatalysts.The reviewed processes include(i)the functionalization of a commercial carbon support for enhanced catalyst-support interaction and additional catalytic effects,(ii)the methods for loading Pt-based electrocatalysts onto a carbon support that impact the manufacturing costs of electrocatalysts,(iii)the preparation of spheri-cal and nonspherical Pt-based electrocatalysts(polyhedrons,nanocages,nanoframes,one-and two-dimensional nanostruc-tures),and(iv)the postsynthesis treatments of supported electrocatalysts.The influences of the supports,key experimental parameters,and postsynthesis treatments on Pt-based electrocatalysts are scrutinized in detail.Future research directions are outlined,including(i)the full exploitation of the potential functionalization of commercial carbon supports,(ii)scaled-up one-pot synthesis of carbon-supported Pt-based electrocatalysts,and(iii)simplification of postsynthesis treatments.One-pot synthesis in aqueous instead of organic reaction systems and the minimal use of organic ligands are preferred to simplify the synthesis and postsynthesis treatment processes and to promote the mass production of commercial carbon-supported Pt-based electrocatalysts.

Nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)is a potent greenhouse gas as well as the key component depleting the ozone sphere of the earth.Cattle have high feed and water intakes and excrete large amounts of urine and feces.N_(2)O can be produced from cattle excreta during storage and use as fertilizer.Mitigating the N_(2)O emissions from cattle excreta during production is important for protecting the environment and the sustainable development of the cattle industry.Feeding cattle with low-protein diets increases N utilization rates,decreases N excretion and consequently reduces N_(2)O emissions.However,this approach cannot be applied in the long term because of its negative impact on animal performance.Recent studies showed that dietary inclusion of some plant secondary metabolites such as tannins,anthocyanins,glucosinolates and aucubin could manipulate the N excretion and the urinary components and consequently regulate N_(2)O emissions from cattle excreta.This review summarized the recent developments in the effects of dietary tannins,anthocyanins and glucosinolates on the metabolism of cattle and the N_(2)O emissions from cattle excreta and concluded that dietary inclusion of tannins or anthocyanins could considerably reduce N_(2)O emissions from cattle excreta.

Multidimensional Multiplicative Large Sets in Totally Minimal Systems

In this paper,it is shown that for a residual set of points in a totally minimal system with finitely many commuting homeomorphisms,the set of return times to any non-empty open set contains a subset with positive multidimensional multiplicative upper Banach density,extending a previous result by Glasscock,Koutsogiannis and Richter.Meanwhile,we give some combinatorial properties of the sets with positive multidimensional multiplicative upper Banach density.

Intelligent vehicle(Ⅳ)technology has developed rapidly in recent years.However,achieving fully unmanned driving still presents numerous challenges,which means that human drivers will continue to play a vital role in vehicle operation for the foreseeable future.Human-machine shared driving,involving cooperation between a human driver and an automated driving system(AVS),has been widely regarded as a necessary stage for the development of IVs.Focusing onⅣdriving safety,this study proposed a human-machine shared lateral control strategy(HSLCS)based on the reliability of driver risk perception.The HSLCS starts by identifying the effective areas of driver risk perception based on eye movements.It establishes an anisotropic driving risk field,which serves as the foundation for the AVS to assess risk levels.Building upon the cumulative and diminishing effects of risk perception,the proposed approach leverages the driver's risk perception effective area and converts the risk field into a representation aligned with the driver's perspective.Subsequently,it quantifies the reliability of the driver's risk perception by using area-matching rules.Finally,based on the driver’s risk perception reliability and dif-ferences in lateral driving operation between the human driver and the AVS,the dynamic distribution of driving authority is achieved through a fuzzy rule-based system,and the human-machine shared lateral control is completed by using model predictive control.The HSLCS was tested across various scenarios on a driver-in-the-loop test platform.The results show that the HSLCS can realize the synergy and complementarity of human and machine intelligence,effectively ensuring the safety ofⅣoperation.

The subfamily Megophryinae,as a representative batrachian group of the Oriental Realm and one of the most diverse groups of amphibians,has attracted considerable attention due to continued conjecture regarding its generic classification and failure to reach a satisfactory consensus.China boasts the richest diversity of Asian horned toads,containing some two thirds of the total species cataloged.However,most species have a complicated taxonomic history,resulting in multiple misidentifications.As such,an overall clarification of historical records and regional checklists is required.In the current investigation,we established the phylogeny of the Asian horned toads and performed detailed examinations with redefinitions of several important morphological traits.Based on the phylogenetic relationships and morphological differences,we propose a new ten-genus classification for the Asian horned toad subfamily Megophryinae:i.e.,Brachytarsophrys,Atympanophrys,Grillitschia,Sarawakiphrys gen.nov.,Jingophrys gen.nov.,Xenophrys,Megophrys,Pelobatrachus,Ophryophryne,and Boulenophrys.Revisions on the diagnosability,distribution,and content of each genus are provided.Furthermore,we present a careful review of the taxonomic history of Asian horned toad species from China and provide a monograph of congeners,including six species of Brachytarsophrys,four species of Atympanophrys,five species of Jingophrys gen.nov.,10 species of Xenophrys,two species of Ophryophryne,and 60 species of Boulenophrys.Finally,we discuss the importance of traditional morphological traits based on multiple populations in taxonomic work as well as taxonomic inflation caused by the genetic species delimitation.

The aim of this study is to appraise the potential of calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA)cement-based grouts in simulated permafrost environments.The hydration and performance of CSA cement-based grouts cured in cold environments(10,0,and−10℃)are investigated using a combination of tests,including temperature recording,X-ray diffraction(XRD)tests,thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),and unconfined compressive strength(UCS)tests.The recorded temperature shows a rapid increase in temperature at the early stage in all the samples.Meanwhile,results of the TGA and XRD tests show the generation of a significant quantity of hydration products,which indicates the rapid hydration of CSA cement-based grouts at the early stage at low temperatures.Consequently,the CSA cement-based grouts exhibit remarkably high early strength.The UCS values of the samples cured for 2 h at−10,0,and 10℃ are 6.5,12.0,and 12.3 MPa,respectively.The UCS of the grouts cured at−10,0,and 10℃ increases continuously with age and ultimately reached 14.9,19.0,and 30.6 MPa at 28 d,respectively.The findings show that the strength of grouts fabricated using CSA cement can develop rapidly in cold environments,thus rendering them promising for permafrost applications.

Enhanced metronidazole removal by binary-species photoelectrogenic biofilm of microaglae and anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria

High efficient removal of antibiotics during nutriments recovery for biomass production poses a major technical challenge for photosynthetic microbial biofilm-based wastewater treatment since antibiotics are always co-exist with nutriments in wastewater and resist biodegradation due to their strong biotoxicity and recalcitrance.In this study,we make a first attempt to enhance metronidazole(MNZ)removal from wastewater using electrochemistry-activated binary-species photosynthetic biofilm of Rhodopseudomonas Palustris(R.Palustris)and Chlorella vulgaris(C.vulgaris)by cultivating them under different applied potentials.The results showed that application of external potentials of-0.3,0 and 0.2 V led to 11,33 and 26-fold acceleration in MNZ removal,respectively,as compared to that of potential free.The extent of enhancement in MNZ removal was positively correlated to the intensities of photosynthetic current produced under different externally applied potentials.The binary-species photoelectrogenic biofilm exhibited 18 and 6-fold higher MNZ removal rate than that of single-species of C.vulgaris and R.Palustris,respectively,due to the enhanced metabolic interaction between them.Application of an external potential of 0V significantly promoted the accumulation of tryptophan and tyrosine-like compounds as well as humic acid in ex-tracellular polymeric substance,whose concentrations were 7.4,7.1 and 2.0-fold higher than those produced at potential free,contributing to accelerated adsorption and reductive and photosensitive degradation of MNZ.
