China is home to shales of three facies:Marine shale,continental shale,and marine-continental transitional *** types of shale gas are associated with significantly different formation conditions and major controlling *** study compared the geological characteristics of various shales and analyzed the influences of different parameters on the formation and accumulation of shale *** general,shales in China’s several regions exhibit high total organic carbon(TOC)contents,which lays a sound material basis for shale gas *** strata generally show high degrees of thermal *** contrast,continental shales manifest low degrees of thermal evolution,necessitating focusing on areas with relatively high degrees of thermal evolution in the process of shale gas surveys for these *** shales of the Wufeng and Silurian formations constitute the most favorable shale gas reservoirs since they exhibit the highest porosity among the three types of *** shales are followed by those in the Niutitang and Longtan *** contrast,the shales of the Doushantuo,Yanchang,and Qingshankou formations manifest low ***,the shales of the Wufeng and Longmaxi formations exhibit high brittle mineral *** a low siliceous mineral content,the shales of the Doushantuo Formation feature a high carbonate mineral content,which can increase the shales’brittleness to some *** marine-continental transitional shales,where thin interbeds of tight sandstone with unequal thicknesses are generally found,it is recommended that fracturing combined with drainage of multiple sets of lithologic strata should be employed to enhance their shale gas production.

Tandem hydroalkylation and deoxygenation of lignin-derived phenolics to synthesize high-density fuels

Lignin is the most abundant naturally phenolic biomass,and the synthesis of high-performance renewable fuel from lignin has attracted significant *** propose the efficient synthesis of high-density fuels using simulated lignin cracked oil in tandem with hydroalkylation and deoxygenation ***,we investigated the reaction pathway for the hydroalkylation of phenol,which competes with the hydrodeoxygenation form *** then,we investigated the effects of metal catalyst types,the loading amount of metallic,acid dosage,and reactant ratio on the reaction *** phenol hydroalkylation and hydrodeoxygenation were balanced when 180℃ and 5 MPa H_(2)with the alkanes yield of 95%.By extending the substrate to other lignin-derived phenolics and simulated lignin cracked oil,we obtained the polycyclic alkane fuel with high density of 0.918 g·ml^(-1)and calorific value of41.2 MJ·L^(-1).Besides,the fuel has good low-temperature properties(viscosity of 9.3 mm^(2)·s^(-1)at 20℃ and freezing point below-55℃),which is expected to be used as jet *** work provides a promising way for the easy and green production of high-density fuel directly from real lignin oil.

Pulsar timing offers a comprehensive avenue for exploring diverse topics in physics and *** solar system planetary ephemeris is crucial for pulsar timing as it provides the positions and velocities of solar system planets including the ***,it is inevitable that inherent inconsistencies exist in these *** between various ephemerides can significantly impact pulsar timing and parameter ***,pulsar timing highly depends on the JPL DE ephemeris,for instance,the Pulsar Timing Array data analysis predominantly utilizes *** this study,we examine inconsistencies across various ephemeris series,including JPL DE,EPM,and ***,discrepancies emerge particularly between the current ephemeris DE436 and the earliest released ephemeris DE200,as well as the most recent ephemerides,e.g.,DE440,INPOP21A,and *** detailed analysis of the effects of ephemeris on geometric correction procedures for the conversion of measured topocentric times of arrival is presented in this *** researches reveal that variations in the Roemer delays across different ephemerides lead to distinct *** timing residuals and the fact that these discrepancies can be readily incorporated into the subsequent pulsar parameters,leading to inconsistent fitting estimates,suggest that the influence of errors in the ephemeris on the timing process might currently be underappreciated.

Fast radio bursts(FRBs)are short pulses observed in radio frequencies usually originating from cosmological *** discovery of FRB 200428 and its X-ray counterpart from the galactic magnetar SgR J1935+2154suggests that at least some FRBs can be generated by ***,the majority of X-ray bursts from magnetars are not associated with radio *** fact that only in rare cases can an FRB be generated raises the question regarding the special triggering mechanism of *** we report long time spin evolution of SgR J1935+2154 until the end of *** to v and v,the spin evolution of SgR J1935+2154 could be divided into two *** first stage evolves relatively steady evolution until 2020 April *** the burst activity in2020,the spin of SgR J1935+2154 shows strong variations,especially for *** the burst activity in 2022October,a new spin-down glitch with△v/v=(-7.2±0.6)×10^(-6)is detected around MJD 59876,which is the second event in SgR J1935+*** the end,spin frequency and pulse profile do not show variations around the time of FRB 200428 and radio bursts 221014 and 221021,which supply strong clues to constrain the trigger mechanism of FRBs or radio bursts.

Promotion effects of salt-alkali on ammonia volatilization in a coastal soil

Coastal ecosystems are highly susceptible to salt-related problems due to their formation process and geographical location. As such ecosystems are the most accessible land resources on Earth, clarifying and quantifying the effects of salt-alkali conditions on N concentration and ammonia(NH_(3)) volatilization are pivotal for promoting coastal agricultural productivity. The challenge in establishing this effect is to determine how salt-alkali conditions impact NH_(3) volatilization through direct or indirect interactions. An incubation experiment using a coastal soil from a paddy farmland, combined with the structural equation modeling(SEM) method, was conducted to reveal the net effects of salt-alkali on NH_(3) volatilization and the role of environmental and microbial factors in mutual interaction networks. The specific experimental design consisted of four salt treatments(S1, S2, S3, and S4: 1‰, 3‰, 8‰, and 15‰ NaCl by mass of soil, respectively), four alkaline treatments(A1, A2, A3, and A4: 0.5‰, 1‰, 3‰, and 8‰ NaHCO_(3)by mass of soil, respectively) and a control without NaCl or NaHCO_(3) addition(CK), and each treatment had three urea concentrations(N1, N2, and N3: 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15 g N kg^(-1) soil,respectively) and three replicates. At the N1, N2, and N3 levels, NH_(3)volatilization increased by 9.31%–34.98%, 3.07%–26.92%, and 2.99%–43.61% as the NaCl concentration increased from 1‰ to 15‰, respectively, compared with CK. With an increase in the NaHCO_(3)concentration from 0.5‰ to 8‰, NH_(3) volatilization increased by 8.36%–56.46%, 5.49%–30.10%, and 30.72%–73.18% at the N1, N2, and N3 levels, respectively, compared with CK. Switchable Polyolefins from Polar Functionalization to Degradability

Polyolefins are synthetic plastics that exist on the largest scale and are ubiquitous in human *** are also the most frequently discarded ***,the ability to either upgrade polyethylene(PE)plastic for value-added applications or to degrade PE plastic for value-added chemicals and monomers is highly desirable and sought after to mitigate the plastic waste ***,we report an advanced strategy for tackling the issue of PE plastics,first through a sequential upgrading and then through a degrading *** optimal Diels–Alder-type polar comonomer diester-substituted norbornadiene is copolymerized with ethylene to produce the desired polar-functionalized PEs with both high comonomer incorporations of 42.4 mol%(-COOMe:as high to 59.6 mol%)and high molecular weights of up to 224 kg mol^(−1)in high catalytic activities of>100 kg mol^(−1)h^(−1).By means of a decisive retro-Diels–Alder reaction,this upgraded PE,namely polar-functionalized PE,can completely switch to a clean and soluble vinylene PE with a high content(28.7 mol%)of dispersed internal double bonds,which are *** of the highmolecular–weight(∼30 kg mol^(−1))vinylene PE with ethylene yields industrially relevant telechelic oligomers(∼360 g mol^(−1))of long-chainα,ω-dienes and C9/C9+hydrocarbon *** chemical upgrading and recycling method makes polyolefin plastic more sustainable.

Facile synthesis of high-brightness green-emitting carbon dots with narrow bandwidth towards backlight display

High-performance carbon dots(CDs)allowing the application in high-end display devices are highly desirable and usually limited by the absence of simple and easy synthesis *** this work,we exploited an easy-to-implement strategy for the one-step synthesis of green-emitting CDs(g-CDs)with superb optical *** g-CDs were synthesized using m-phenylenediamine(m-PD)as a single precursor,and the reaction reacted at 180℃for 12 h The resultant g-CDs exhibit high-purity and excitationindependent green fluorescence with the photoluminescence(PL)peak located at 516 nm,full width at half maximum(FWHM)of 46 nm,and PL quantum yield(QY)of∼80%under the 470nm excitation *** g-CDs and corresponding composite film prepared with polyvinyl butyral(g-CDs@PVB)exhibit good PL stability after undergoing long-time storage for one year and 360 h exposure under 460nm blue *** g-CDs@PVB film was used as color-conversion materials in green-emitting light-emitting diode(LED)application,exhibiting a Commission internationale de l’Eclairage(CIE)chromaticity coordinate of(0.21,0.44).The film was also used in CD-based liquid crystal display(CD-LCD)application,achieving a color gamut value of 85%.This work will offer a working basis for the synthesis of high-performance CDs as well as their application in displays.
