A Novel On-Site-Real-Time Method for Identifying Characteristic Parameters Using Ultrasonic Echo Groups and Neural Network

On-site and real-time non-destructive measurement of elastic constants for materials of a component in a in-service structure is a challenge due to structural complexities,such as ambiguous boundary,variable thickness,nonuniform material properties.This work develops for the first time a method that uses ultrasound echo groups and artificial neural network(ANN)for reliable on-site real-time identification of material parameters.The use of echo groups allows the use of lower frequencies,and hence more accommodative to structural complexity.To train the ANNs,a numerical model is established that is capable of computing the waveform of ultrasonic echo groups for any given set of material properties of a given structure.The waveform of an ultrasonic echo groups at an interest location on the surface the structure with material parameters varying in a predefined range are then computed using the numerical model.This results in a set of dataset for training the ANN model.Once the ANN is trained,the material parameters can be identified simultaneously using the actual measured echo waveform as input to the ANN.Intensive tests have been conducted both numerically and experimentally to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the currently proposed method.The results show that the maximum identification error of numerical example is less than 2%,and the maximum identification error of experimental test is less than 7%.Compared with currently prevailing methods and equipment,the proposefy the density and thickness,in addition to the elastic constants.Moreover,the reliability and accuracy of inverse prediction is significantly improved.Thus,it has broad applications and enables real-time field measurements,which has not been fulfilled by any other available methods or equipment.

Objective: Primary resistance to trastuzumab frequently occurs in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive(+) breast cancer patients and remains a clinical challenge. Pyrotinib is a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has shown efficacy in the treatment of HER2+ breast cancer. However, the efficacy of pyrotinib in HER2+ breast cancer with primary trastuzumab resistance is unknown.Methods: HER2+ breast cancer cells sensitive or primarily resistant to trastuzumab were treated with trastuzumab, pyrotinib, or the combination. Cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and HER2 downstream signal pathways were analyzed. The effects of pyrotinib plus trastuzumab and pertuzumab plus trastuzumab were compared in breast cancer cells in vitro and a xenograft mouse model with primary resistance to trastuzumab.Results: Pyrotinib had a therapeutic effect on trastuzumab-sensitive HER2+ breast cancer cells by inhibiting phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT) and rat sarcoma virus(RAS)/rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma(RAF)/mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)/extracellular-signal regulated kinase(ERK)pathways. In primary trastuzumab-resistant cells, pyrotinib inhibited cell growth, migration, invasion, and HER2 downstream pathways, whereas trastuzumab had no effects. The combination with trastuzumab did not show increased effects compared with pyrotinib alone. Compared with pertuzumab plus trastuzumab, pyrotinib plus trastuzumab was more effective in inhibiting cell proliferation and HER2 downstream pathways in breast cancer cells and tumor growth in a trastuzumab-resistant HER2+ breast cancer xenograft model.Conclusions: Pyrotinib-containing treatments exhibited anti-cancer effects in HER2+ breast cancer cells sensitive and with primary resistance to trastuzumab. Notably, pyrotinib plus trastuzumab was more effective than trastuzumab plus pertuzumab in inhibiting tumor growth and HER2 downstream pathways in HER2+ breast cancer with primary resistance to trastuzumab. Effect of End Shape on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Two Parallel Plates

Flow around a pair of flat plates is a basic hydrodynamics problem.In this paper,the flow and heat transfer characteristics of two parallel plates with different edge shapes are numerically calculated.Under different inclined angles,the influence of chamfered and rounded structures with different sizes at the end-edge on unsteady flow and heat transfer characteristics of two parallel plates are analyzed.It is found that the instability and unsteadiness of flow decrease with the increase of end-edge size,and the non-uniformity of wake velocity of both rounded and chamfered plates decreases gradually.The non-uniformity of wake temperature increases firstly and then decreases at a small inclined angle,and the amplitude becomes the largest when S_(rou)(S_(cha))=3,while it basically keeps monotonically increasing at a large inclined angle.Moreover,the global heat transfer performance of the flat plate is obviously affected by the end-edge modification,especially the chamfered structure.With the increase of chamfered size,the global Nusselt number basically shows the decreasing trend.This study provides a theoretical basis for the application of plate-shape structure in engineering fields.

Investigating Periodic Dependencies to Improve Short-Term Load Forecasting

With a further increase in energy flexibility for customers,short-term load forecasting is essential to provide benchmarks for economic dispatch and real-time alerts in power grids.The electrical load series exhibit periodic patterns and share high associations with metrological data.However,current studies have merely focused on point-wise models and failed to sufficiently investigate the periodic patterns of load series,which hinders the further improvement of short-term load forecasting accuracy.Therefore,this paper improved Autoformer to extract the periodic patterns of load series and learn a representative feature from deep decomposition and reconstruction.In addition,a novel multi-factor attention mechanism was proposed to handle multi-source metrological and numerical weather prediction data and thus correct the forecasted electrical load.The paper also compared the proposed model with various competitive models.As the experimental results reveal,the proposed model outperforms the benchmark models and maintains stability on various types of load consumers.

Research progress of CO_(2) capture and mineralization based on natural minerals

Natural minerals,such as kaolinite,halloysite,montmorillonite,attapulgite,bentonite,sepiolite,forsterite,and wollastonite,have considerable potential for use in CO_(2) capture and mineralization due to their abundant reserves,low cost,excellent mechanical prop-erties,and chemical stability.Over the past decades,various methods,such as those involving heat,acid,alkali,organic amine,amino sil-ane,and ionic liquid,have been employed to enhance the CO_(2) capture performance of natural minerals to attain high specific surface area,a large number of pore structures,and rich active sites.Future research on CO_(2) capture by natural minerals will focus on the full utiliza-tion of the properties of natural minerals,adoption of suitable modification methods,and preparation of composite materials with high specific surface area and rich active sites.In addition,we provide a summary of the principle and technical route of direct and indirect mineralization of CO_(2) by natural minerals.This process uses minerals with high calcium and magnesium contents,such as forsterite(Mg_(2)SiO_(4)),serpentine[Mg_(3)Si_(2)O(OH)_(4)],and wollastonite(CaSiO_(3)).The research status of indirect mineralization of CO_(2) using hydro-chloric acid,acetic acid,molten salt,and ammonium salt as media is also introduced in detail.The recovery of additives and high-value-added products during the mineralization process to increase economic benefits is another focus of future research on CO_(2) mineralization by natural minerals.

Can soil organic carbon sequestration and the carbon management index be improved by changing the film mulching methods in the semiarid region?

Plastic film mulching has been widely used to increase maize yield in the semiarid area of China.However, whether long-term plastic film mulching is conducive to agricultural sustainability in this region remains controversial.A field experiment was initiated in 2013 with five different film mulching methods:(i) control method, flat planting without mulching (CK),(ii) flat planting with half film mulching (P),(iii) film mulching on ridges and planting in narrow furrows(S),(iv) full film mulching on double ridges (D), and (v) film mulching on ridges and planting in wide furrows (R).The effects on soil organic carbon (SOC) content, storage, and fractions, and on the carbon management index (CMI)were evaluated after nine consecutive years of plastic film mulching.The results showed that long-term plastic film mulching generally maintained the initial SOC level.Compared with no mulching, plastic film mulching increased the average crop yield, biomass yield, and root biomass by 48.38, 35.06, and 37.32%, respectively, which led to the improvement of SOC sequestration.Specifically, plastic film mulching significantly improved CMI, and increased the SOC content by 13.59%, SOC storage by 7.47%and easily oxidizable organic carbon (EOC) by 13.78%on average,but it reduced the other labile fractions.SOC sequestration and CMI were improved by refining the plastic film mulching methods.The S treatment had the best effect among the four mulching methods, so it can be used as a reasonable film mulching method for sustainable agricultural development in the semiarid area.

Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)is a severe female reproductive disorder that affects 1%of women in general populations(European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology[ESHRE]Guideline Group on POI et al.,2016).An increasing prevalence up to 3.7%has been reported in a recent meta-analysis(Golezar et al.,2019).POl can lead to infertility or subfertility,as well as a range of complex complications suffering multi-organ systems,seriously threatening women's health and reducing the life quality.By contrast,POl is a representative heterogeneous disease with multiple etiologies.While more than 70 causative POI genes have been identified,the etiology of more than half of the POI patients is still ambiguous(Jiao et al.,2018).Unreported POI causative genes,therefore,remain to be identified.

Organic heterojunction synaptic device with ultra high recognition rate for neuromorphic computing

Traditional computing structures are blocked by the von Neumann bottleneck,and neuromorphic computing devices inspired by the human brain which integrate storage and computation have received more and more attention.Here,a flexible organic device with 2,7-dioctyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene(C8-BTBT)and 2,9-didecyldinaphtho[2,3-b:2′,3′-f]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene(C10-DNTT)heterostructural channel having excellent synaptic behaviors was fabricated on muscovite(MICA)substrate,which has a memory window greater than 20 V.This device shows better electrical characteristics than organic field effect transistors with single organic semiconductor channel.Furthermore,the device simulates organism synaptic behaviors successfully,such as paired-pulse facilitation(PPF),long-term potentiation/depression(LTP/LTD)process,and transition from short-term memory(STM)to long-term memory(LTM)by optical and electrical modulations.Importantly,the neuromorphic computing function was verified using the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology(MNIST)pattern recognition,with a recognition rate nearly 100%without noise.This research proposes a flexible organic heterojunction with the ultra-high recognition rate in MNIST pattern recognition and provides the possibility for future flexible wearable neuromorphic computing devices.

Chromatin accessibility landscapes revealed the subgenome-divergent regulation networks during wheat grain development

Development of wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)grain mainly depends on the processes of starch synthesis and storage protein accumulation,which are critical for grain yield and quality.However,the regulatory network underlying the transcriptional and physiological changes of grain development is still not clear.Here,we combined ATAC-seq and RNA-seq to discover the chromatin accessibility and gene expression dynamics during these processes.We found that the chromatin accessibility changes are tightly associated with differential transcriptomic expressions,and the proportion of distal ACRs was increased gradually during grain development.Specific transcription factor(TF)binding sites were enriched at different stages and were diversified among the 3 subgenomes.We further predicted the potential interactions between key TFs and genes related with starch and storage protein biosynthesis and found different copies of some key TFs played diversified roles.Overall,our findings have provided numerous resources and illustrated the regulatory network during wheat grain development,which would shed light on the improvement of wheat yields and qualities.
