When X-ray fluores.ence （XRF） technology is.us.d to meas.re the s.lfur concentration in coal online, the meas.rement accu- racy is.affected by the coal＇s.uneven s.rface and the particle s.ze. In order to improve the accuracy of s.lfur concentration meas.rement, an online meas.rement s.s.em, cons.s.ing of a portable X-ray fluores.ence ins.rument and an auxiliary dis.ance correction module, was.developed in this.paper. By meas.ring the s.andard coal s.mples.of known s.lfur concentration, we obtained a calibration curve that can be us.d to analyze the s.lfur concentration. We s.udied the relations.ip between the X-ray fluores.ence intens.ty （I） and the dis.ance （D） from s.rfaces.to ins.rument. The res.lts.s.owed that there was.a good linear re- lations.ip between 1 and D when the s.lfur content was.certain. Bas.d on thes. knowledge, the dis.ance correction formula of X-ray fluores.ence intens.ty was.propos.d. By applying the dis.ance correction formula to experimental s.lfur concentration meas.rement, we demons.rated that the meas.rement accuracy can be s.gnificantly increas.d.

Objective To inves.igate whether as.es.os.s.is.a ris. factor for mortality of lung cancer. Methods.A fixed cohort s.udy was.es.ablis.ed in an as.es.os.plant in Chongqing, China, and followed up for 30 years.from the beginning of 1972. Bas.c pers.nal information on life s.ate, caus. of death, and diagnos.s.of as.es.os.s.was.collected. Multiple logis.ic regres.ions.were applied to analyze ris. factors. Res.lts.During the 30-year follow-up, 584 male workers.cons.ituting a total of 14 664 pers.n-years.were monitored and data were analyzed. Among them, 203 （34.8%） died and the mortality rate was.13.8 per 1000 pers.n-years. cancer accounting for 37.4%. Exces. ris.s.were obs.rved for lung cancer （OR=3.72） and nonmalignant res.iratory dis.as.s.（OR=2.73） among workers.with as.es.os.s. High-expos.re level was.another ris. factor for lung cancer （OR-3.20）. Workers.with category II of as.es.os.s.demons.rated a higher OR of both lung cancer and nonmalignant res.iratory dis.as.s.than thos. with category I of as.es.os.s. Conclus.on High as.es.os.expos.re level and as.es.os.s.were the ris. factors.for death of lung cancer and nonmalignant res.iratory dis.as.s. As.es.os.s.is.an independent ris. factor for lung cancer among Chines. workers.expos.d to chrys.tile, the ris. increas.s.with the increas.ng profus.on of opacities.of lung.

This.paper will us. the tip-timing method bas.d on the fiber Bragg grating magnetically coupling s.ns.r to s.udy and analyze the ventilator blade vibration, in order to realize long-dis.ance and non-contact real-time online s.fety monitoring of blade vibration. Compared with the electronic s.ns.rand fiber intens.ty reflective s.ns.r, the fiber grating coupling magnetic s.ns.r has.s.ch advantages.as.explos.on-proof, working at hars. environment with humid air, dus. and greas. dirt, capable of achieving long-dis.ance s.gnal trans.is.ion, and joining eas.ly with other fiber Bragg grating s.ns.rs.to form a network in order to achieve multi-parameter dis.ributed online monitoring.

s.ream s.diment s.mpling is.a s.gnificant tool in geochemical exploration. The s.ream s.diment compos.tion reflects.the bedrock geology, overburden cover, and metalliferous.mineralization. This.res.arch article focus.s.on as.es.ing s.lected trace element concentrations.in s.ream s.diments.and interpreting their inter-element relations.ips.us.ng multivariate s.atis.ical methods. Tagadur Ranganathas.amy gudda and its.s.rroundings.in the Nuggihalli s.his. belt of s.uthern India have been inves.igated in the pres.nt work. The geology of the s.udy area is.complex, with a divers. range of litho units.and evidence of s.rong s.ructural deformation. The area is.known for its.mineralization potential for chromite, vanadiferous.titanomagnetite, and s.lfides. The topography of the region is.characterized by an undulating terrain with a radial drainage pattern. Mos. part of the s.his. belt is.s.il covered except the Tagadur Ranganathas.amy gudda area. For this.s.udy, a dis.rete s.ream s.diment s.mpling method was.adopted to collect the s.mples. s.ream s.diment s.mples.were collected us.ng a dis.rete s.mpling method and analyzed for trace elements.us.ng an ICP-AEs.s.ectrophotometer: Fe, Cr, Ti, V, Cu, Ni, Zn, Pb, Mn, Cd, and As.have been analyzed. The analytical data were s.atis.ically treated us.ng the s.s. s.ftware, including des.riptive s.atis.ics. normalization of data us.ng natural log trans.ormation, and factor analys.s.with varimax rotation. The trans.ormed data s.owed a log-normal dis.ribution, indicating the pres.nce of geochemical anomalies. The res.lts.of the s.udy provide valuable ins.ghts.into the geochemical proces.es.and mineralization potential of the s.udy area. The s.atis.ical analys.s.helps.in unders.anding the inter-element relations.ips.and identifying element groups.and their implications.on bedrock potential mineralization. The authors.pres.nted a novel s.nthetic route for the imidazolium functionalized poly（arylene ether ke- tone）s. derived from an engineering plas.ics.polymer, a poly（arylene ether ketone） with 3,3＇,5,5＇- tetramethyl-4,4＇-dihydroxybiphenyl moiety（PAEK-TM）. The preparation of anion exchange membranes.compris.d converting benzylic methyl groups.to bromomethyl groups.by a radical reaction, followed by the functionalization of bromomethylated PAEK with alkyl imidazoles. i.e., methyl, butyl or vinyl imidazole. The s.ructure of imidazolium functionalized PAEK was.proved by 1H NMR s.ectra. A clas. of flexible and tough membranes.was.then achieved by s.bs.quent film-forming and anion exchange proces.es. The water uptake and hydroxide conductivities.of mem- branes.are comparable or s.perior to thos. of quaternary ammonium（QA） anion exchange membranes. This.work demons.rated a new route for non-QA anion exchange membrane des.gn, avoiding the chloromethylation reagent and orecis.lv controlling the degree and location of imidazolium grouos.

Objective Curcumin is.extracted from the turmeric plant （Curcuma longa Linn.） and is.widely us.d as.a food additive and traditional medicine. The pres.nt s.udy inves.igated the activity of curcumin agains. s.auros.orine （s.s. toxicity in cell culture. Methods.Rat hippocampal neurons.in primary culture were expos.d to s.s.（20 μmol/L） and treated with curcumin （20 μmol/L）. Cell viability was.tes.ed by MTT as.ay and reactive oxygen s.ecies.（ROs. were meas.red us.ng the Mitos.X red mitochondrial s.peroxide indicator. Wes.ern blot was.us.d to as.es. changes.in the levels.of cas.as.-3 （Cs.3）, heat s.ock protein 70 （Hs.70） and Akt. Res.lts.The res.lts.s.owed that curcumin protects.agains. s.s.induced cytotoxicity in rat hippocampal neurons. Cs.3, Hs.70, Akt and ROs.activation may be involved in this.protection. Conclus.on Curcumin could be a potential drug for combination with s.s.in cancer treatment to reduce the unwanted cytotoxicity of s.s.
