Modeling fluid–particle interaction in dilute-phase turbulentliquid–particle flow simulation

The present work examines the predictive capability of a two-fluid CFD model that is based on the kinetic theory of granular flow in simulating dilute-phase turbulent liquid-particle pipe flows in which the inter- stitial fluid effect on the particle fluctuating motion is significant. The impacts of employing different drag correlations and turbulence closure models to describe the fluid-particle interactions （i.e. drag force and long-range interaction） are examined at both the mean and fluctuating velocity levels. The model pre- dictions are validated using experimental data of turbulent liquid-particle flows in a vertical pipe at different particle Reynolds numbers （Rep 〉 400 and Rep 〈 400）, which characterize the importance of the vortex shedding phenomenon in the fluid-phase turbulence modulation. The results indicate that （1） the fluctuating velocity level predictions at different Rep are highly sensitive to the drag correlation selec- tion and （2） different turbulence closure models must be employed to accurately describe the long-range fluid-particle interaction in each phase. In general, good agreement is found between the model predic- tions and the experimental data at both the mean and fluctuating velocity levels provided that appropriate combinations of the drag correlation and the turbulence closure model are selected depending on Rep. 2009 Chinese Society of Particuology and Institute of Process engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The local tumor hypoxia has become one of the main obstacles for photodynamic therapy(PDT).To break through this barrier,the fabrication of O_(2)-evolving nanoplatform has been more ***,the uniform methylene blue(MB)–bovine serum albumin(BSA)–Fe(III)nanoparticles(MB–BSA–Fe(III)NPs)were successfully synthesized by biomineralization ***–BSA–Fe(III)NPs show high loading capacity of MB,and Fe(ΙΙΙ)has excellent catalytic performance towards abundant H_(2)O_(2) in cancer cells to generate O_(2),overcoming tumor *** these combination effects remarkably increase the therapeutic efficiency of PDT,resulting in almost complete destruction of cancer *** importantly,MB–BSA–Fe(III)NPs exhibit T2-magnetic resonance imaging,which have the potential for precise visualization of the tumor *** results demonstrate that MB–BSA–Fe(III)is a novel H_(2)O_(2)-responsive and O_(2)-evolving nanoplatform and it has great potential for clinical applications such as cancer diagnosis,treatment or drug delivery.

By predicting future information such as data rate with sensory wireless data, radio resources can be pre-allocated for content delivery. Such an integrated sensing and communications technique can help improve network performance and user experience. To justify the cost paid for predicting future information,it is important to understand in which scenarios predictive resource allocation yields a large gain over the non-predictive counterpart. In this paper, we strive to identify the key factors that affect the gain of predictive resource allocation by deriving the closed-form expression of the gain. We are concerned with minimizing the transmission time required for content delivery such as file downloading to users with an expected deadline,where the resources of base stations are shared with real-time services. Then, the performance gain is measured by the difference of the average time required by predictive and non-predictive resource *** by the solution of the optimization problem, we resort to the theory of order statistics for deriving the performance gain. We find that the gain depends on the statistics(i.e., mean value and standard deviation)of the user’s average data rates in the prediction window. Then, we separately analyze how the statistics of the bandwidth available for content delivery and user mobility affect the gain. We use simulation with a real dataset of traffic load to validate the analysis and quantify the impact of the key factors. Our results show that predictive resource allocation can reduce the transmission time even for non-moving users. The performance gain is high when the network is busy or the cell radius is large.

AIM: To evaluate whether serum levels of nitric oxide (NO ·) and plasma levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cgMP) and total glutathione (gSH) are altered in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and to examine their correlation with the severity of liver ***: Twenty-six patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis were studied. Serum levels of NO · and plasma levels of cgMP and gSH were measured in 7 patients with compensated alcoholic cirrhosis (Child-Pugh A) and 19 patients with advanced cirrhosis (Child-Pugh B and C). The model for end-stage liver disease (MeLD) score was evaluated. Sixteen healthy volunteers served as controls. Liver enzymes and creatinine levels were also ***: NO · and cgMP levels were higher in patients with Child-Pugh B and C cirrhosis than in Child-Pugh A cirrhosis or controls (NO ·: 21.70 ± 8.07 vs 11.70 ± 2.74; 21.70 ± 8.07 vs 7.26 ± 2.47 μmol/L, respectively; P gMP: 20.12 ± 6.62 vs 10.14 ± 2.78; 20.12 ± 6.62 vs 4.95 ± 1.21 pmol/L, respectively; P glutathione levels were lower in patients with Child-Pugh B and C cirrhosis than in patients with Child-Pugh A cirrhosis or controls (16.04 ± 6.06 vs 23.01 ± 4.38 or 16.04 ± 6.06 vs 66.57 ± 26.23 μmol/L, respectively; P ere was a significant correlation between NO · and cgMP levels in all patients with alcoholic cirrhosis. A significant negative correlation between reduced glutathione/glutathione disulfide and the MeLD score was found in all cirrhotic ***: Our results suggest a role for oxidative stress in alcoholic liver cirrhosis, which is more significant in decompensated patients with higher levels of NO ·and cgMP and lower gSH levels than in compensated and control patients. Altered mediator levels in decompensated patients may influence the hemodynamic changes in and progression of liver disease.

With the development of smart home energy management technology,prosumers are endowed with increased initiative in peer-to-peer(P2P)transactions,bringing new potential for cost *** this study,a novel strategic P2P energy trading framework is proposed considering the impact of network constraints on personal transaction *** can estimate the allowed power injection before engaging in the P2P energy trading,which is solved in a distributed manner based on the sharing form alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)*** quantify the network usage cost for each prosumer and promote local transactions among prosumers at the same bus,a modified continuous double auction(CDA)matching algorithm is proposed including a transaction *** adaptive aggressiveness-based bidding strategy is generated considering the risk of uncertainty in real-time energy delivery amount under the limitations of the distribution *** proposed strategic P2P energy trading framework is tested with the Ieee 37-bus distribution network and it is effective in creating profits for prosumers and supporting distribution network operations.

The authors investigate Petrov-galerkin spectral element method. Some results on Legendre irrational quasi-orthogonal approximations are established, which play important roles in Petrov-galerkin spectral element method for mixed inhomogeneous boundary value problems of partial differential equations defined on polygons. As examples of applications, spectral element methods for two model problems, with the spectral accuracy in certain Jacobi weighted Sobolev spaces, are proposed. The techniques developed in this paper are also applicable to other higher order methods.
